YES Network for Negative User Reviews

YES App good for first season, but NEEDS RECORD optionVery Happy YES now has the YES App that provides the YES channel to watch live games and other features BUT I’m hoping someone from the YES app Department will hear my requests and make some upgrades. We either need quicker availability of Yankee games to be available on the app for viewing OR for the YES app to provide a RECORD GAME function so I can watch the game later but on my own time, not just when the encore is going to be playing on the channel. It takes sometimes over a day for the day before game to show up on the app for viewing. Almost a perfect yankee app. Almost!.Version: 6.9

App still glitches constantlyThis app is really awful. It constantly glitches and I can NEVER watch a Yanker game without it constantly freezing and glitching. Funny how it NEVER freezes or glitches when the commercials are on. I’m not even kidding, I can watch 1-2 minutes of commercials and as soon as the game comes back on, it immediately freezes. Curious how many years its going to take for them to get it together. Most of the time I don’t even bother trying to watch a game on it anymore. It works 15-20% of the time if i’m lucky. Even on good wifi..Version: 3.7

HORRIBLE APP - STAY FAR AWAYI am absolutely shocked that a World Class organization like the New York Yankees is associated with this App. Yes Network rushed to go direct to consumer at the beginning of the season without working out any of the bugs that plague this application. As someone that works in tech, I’m really surprised that this got by any quality control. It’s glaring that it’s not about giving fans an app that works, it’s about the Yes Network investors lining their pockets to make up for lost revenue from all of the streaming platforms they couldn’t come to terms with. I’m done giving this a try, there are other alternative ways to watch the Yankees live without constantly being booted off in the middle of a game. Obviously, Yes and their investors have no solution to fix anything, the reviews are all 1 star and negative. You don’t care about fans and their experience, just their monthly payments. You should be ashamed of yourselves for continually pretending this is great live experience for fans, and the Yankees should be as well..Version: 6.8

Terrible appThis app doesn’t even deserve one star but I’m forced to give it at least one. The only thing it allowed me to do on my Roku was login with my television provider. Of course, as usual, that required multiple attempts. Once I was logged in, it immediately kicked me back out to the Roku home screen and won’t allow me to get in to actually, you know, watch the game. So if all you’re looking for is a way to get frustrated by an app that doesn’t work, then this is the app for you. If you’re looking to actually watch the game they claim to provide, then you’re going to be disappointed..Version: 6.0

HorrendousIf I didn’t know better I Would think YES and MLB doesn't care about their fans. It worked great last year but this year the app is a glitch fest. It keeps telling me I’m not a subscriber. I’m supposed to be able to sign in for free through Xfinity but it keeps kicking me out. When I try to sign in with the Xfinity credentials it sends me through an endless loop but never starts to work where I can watch anything. Whoever designed this should be sent down to a single A ball or DFa’d. What a disaster! It worked yesterday now today it tells me I’m not a subscriber. I give up!! Please fix it! I believe this all started because they are pushing the paid version so hard this year. Greed!.Version: 6.8

Never holds connectionWhen it works it’s awesome. When it doesn’t, it’s absolutely terrible. I’ve been using the app for couple years now and you’d think they would have it figured out by now. Some days it works flawless. Others, like today as I sit here and type this it’s absolutely brutal. How is it every time a “commercial/Ad” comes on it crashes. Literally sitting home, full WiFi and can’t even hold a stream, have to continuously close app and restart. Figure it out..Version: 4.0

Can’t log inWaiting till the bugs get worked out to redownload. I was hoping they would have the app ready for the regular season, but unfortunately that’s not the case. I’m currently stuck in an endless cycle: logging in thru my TV provider then it asks me to create a profile then I put in my info and it says I already have an account then I log in with my current account and it says no account exists, etc. etc. Tried creating a new account with a different email and still no luck. I was hoping to cut cable and use the app to stream games. Definitely not paying $20/mo for this!.Version: 6.0

Pick N’ PlayThis Pick N’ Play game and the customer service is the worst I’ve ever seen. The company owes me $100 from 4-5 different contests and still has not paid me. Basically, I sign into the app with Apple ID Face Scan, I won $50, $10 & $20 with the Face ID Scan. Never got my email. Complained to Supoort about it and they claimed they’ve sent a email to claim my prize but they never did. I’ve emailed several times to the support and I even showed them the proof about my situation but still nothing done. I went with a new email & won $20 and I still did not get my prize even with a verified email. This app is the worst. The company owes me $100 and never paid. Update: Other Customer support from the YES Network helped me get my $80 that I won! They did it within a day. Their support was a easy 10/10 compared to the Pick N Play Support which was a 2/10..Version: 3.9

Buggy and bad UX cannot justify the costThe AirPlay experience, my primary use case and I imagine for many others, is unusable. When you AirPlay from your iPhone, you can’t use another app without AirPlay disconnecting. So then after it disconnects, I AirPlay the app again and get hit with a streaming ad, which is not a regular broadcast ad and can occur during the action. Repeat ad nauseam because reaching for the phone during a commercial or slow action is baked into our collective DNA at this point. This is a no brainer use case. An app this poorly designed shouldn’t be an issue given the subscription cost being as high as it is. Yet it has been an issue all 2023 season long. The Samsung TV app is just as poor, if not worse. I emailed customer support with several bugs and haven’t heard a peep nor seen an improvement on my end. If a dev is reading this review please find my email and do something about it..Version: 7.3

Could be 5 with some improvementsI subscribed to the yes subscription because i watch both the yankees and nets so i thought it was worth it. But what could be improved is there should be a way to just watch the game over no matter what time it is instead of having to catch it at a certain time like a regular channel. We’re paying so much and still have what we’re watching being dictated. I understand the live channel aspect but an on-demand version should be implemented in the future.Version: 6.0

Downright horrible in every wayYou would think with how much yes charges that they would have this phenomenal app. Nothing could be further from the truth. I’ve never been able to watch a yankee game without it freezing or just shutting off. 5G internet here, FYI in case any of you think my internet is bad. They won’t work with any streaming service because of their ridiculous pricing so you are forced to use this app. My record for getting through a yankee game is 9 freezes. That was my best experience. You would think these scam artists with insane and unreasonable pricing would be able to at least put a decent app forward. For years it seems like they just haven’t figured out what the rest of the world has. Guess I’ll go watch the Mets and Knicks. No issues there…..Version: 3.9

Blackout?I live in the NY metro and have been using the YES app to enjoy watching Yankee games on my phone via my DirecTV subscription for years. Now suddenly this week, the app is telling me that due to my geographic area, the game is not available. I understand games are not available when the Yankees are streaming on Prime or Apple or if they’re on a National Fox or ESPN broadcast but this is not what I’m referring to. I am watching the game right now on YES on my TV however I continue to get this blackout message on my phone which started this week when the games ARE on yes. What is going on with this app??.Version: 4.5

Needs a bit more polishDoes its core function (streaming Yankees and Nets Games) well enough but its not without issues. 1) I’m surprised the Apple TV version only does stereo audio. That makes sense for the phone but it makes the TV experience feel like something is lacking. 2) There should be a way to fully remove all other icons from the screen. I’m always seeing these 3 icons the entire time I’m watching the game. 3) The pre-roll ads the run anytime the app starts up have to be rethought. Blocking the live game during an important at-bat to sell me laundry detergent is not a good experience—especially for the direct to app price..Version: 7.6

Terrible Streaming ExperienceTerrible I’m almost every sense! The audio randomly changes volume and cuts in and out the entire game as the standard viewing experience. The audio for the commercials is smooth, which is great because then you get to watch the same 10 commercials about 30 times per game. At least once per inning you will miss an entire play because the video skips forward 5 seconds or so. You find yourself wondering how that guy got on first base. 5 or 6 times per game you have to reboot the app because the playback simply stops..Version: 7.4

Absolute Garbage AppI wish there was a better way to watch Yankees games because this app causes nothing but frustration. It freezes and stops randomly throughout every broadcast. Streaming from the app to a TV is nearly impossible because it just craps out every couple of minutes. When there are multiple watch options, it tries to force you to watch anything but actual baseball games. I HATE the gambling push and wish there was a way to disable it from my app. I don’t want to gamble and I don’t care what the odds are! I don’t know who made the decision to push this app out without any kind of QC or troubleshooting but they should absolutely lose their job. Everything about this app is garbage and there are no alternatives and literally no way to give meaningful feedback. Believe me, I would never open this app again if there were any other way to watch Yankees games from outside of the NY Metro Area..Version: 8.5

So very bad, and no one at Yes caresIt is hard to put into words how bad the Yes app is across all devices and platforms. Apple TV is a complete disaster with constant lag and stuttering, which has occurred since game 1. Eventually the audio starts to lag the video by 2-3 seconds making the game unwatchable. Trying to watch on iPad is equally bad. Constant freezing, crashing, and random exiting out of the game is the norm. And the worst part about it is every time you exit out of the app to fix whatever experience issue is occurring, you get to watch a 30 second ad for an energy drink, luggage, or cell phone service - even if the game is in progress. And if you try to notify Yes of the issues they are completely unresponsive. So, $25 every month for a partially working service and dreadful customer support. I must be crazy to continue to subscribe..Version: 6.7

Wow what a terrible appThe biggest issue is that every time I’m watching a game, close the app and re open it then go back to watching there’s always a commercial playing, even when the game was still goin when I closed it previously. Listen I get it if you want to play commercials fine, but play it during the commercial break, not when I start watching the game. They’re literally making me miss bits of whatever game I’m watching whenever I open it up in the app the play me a few commercials when I already pay for cable because you have to have cable if you want to use the app. There’s issues with the minimized screen as well, every time I try to make it full screen again the game crashes and I have to reload the app, and guess what that means… more commercials!! Honestly idk if this is just incompetent programming or just a scam to show me more ads.Version: 4.5

Unable to access app anymoreApparently YES network app wants to sign up people monthly or yearly, despite paying for the service through my cable service. I have a cable subscription that used to allow me to access the network on my smart phone. Now when I sign in, it wants me to create a profile of which I already have. Having no way to avoid this page or to sign in with existing profile, it forces me to create a profile again of which it says that it already exists. Then do you want to sign in with existing profile? I click continue, and the app won’t allow me to access the site. 😡.Version: 6.1

Made me miss the winning play of a tense matchTheir website as well as this app just made me miss the winning play of the yankees vs phillies (which yankees won) and I missed it because the quality on the website was garbage so i refreshed and then it was frozen so I quickly went to the app and for some reason, it logged me out and the website finally started playing and the yankees already won. This was very frustrating and if they were able to not have a bug riddled website and app, then I can view the games how I should be viewing them. When it works, it works fine, but when it doesn't work, I get frustrated.Version: 2.1

Least functional and most expensiveThis is the worst streaming app I have ever used and to make matters worse, it’s also the most expensive. There is way too much going on in the app; with pick and win, stats, trivia, extra ads, etc. Makes the app crazy glitchy. All I want is to be able to watch the game with no issues. Worst of all the casting feature doesn’t work properly. I have to recast to my tv at least 10 times a game, which is ridiculously frustrating. Really was wishing this would be a viable alternative to cable, but it just isn’t. Hopefully things get fixed as time goes on..Version: 8.3

So AggravatingThe app will play games clearly for a good 5 minutes before it freezes and then completely loses picture. Then I have to reset the app to watch a T-Mobile ad every single time. After that, super choppy laggy video until it inevitably freezes again within 5 minutes and the cycle continues. I’ve never hated a T-Mobile ad more in my life. I’ve missed multiple key plays in games because of this issue. Please fix it. I know it’s not my WiFi so that isn’t the issue..Version: 3.9

Getting better but still needs another fixCompatibility has changed to where if you try and stream Yes Network app from iPhone/iPad (iOS 15.1) through a Chromecast and/or smart TV, the video and audio freezes every <5 seconds throughout coverage. Stream always starts out fine, then these issues crop up after <1 minute. Never had this issue before but has persisted since at least September..Version: 2.7

Used to be okay, borderline unusable nowThis app is an absolute glitch-fest, and it has only become worse since I started using it last year. It frequently has to reload, the picture is intermittently blurry as heck, and sometimes it does not work altogether on my roku (which is the newest version of this device). In addition, that app makes it much harder to login with your tv provider now and tries to sell its own private streaming service separate from cable, as if we needed another one of those. Things need to improve big time, I’ve missed a portion of each of the 3 games this season so far because of this, not counting the times where the picture is blurry and I can’t even see where anything is, which happens often..Version: 6.0

Why do I always have to sign back in???Streaming quality and interface aren’t bad at all, once I’m watching something I rarely have issues unless I try casting to a tv that doesn’t have the app. However the experience is ruined by CONSTANTLY having to sign back in. Every other time I open the app, I have to sign back into YES, then sign into my TV provider. WHY?! It’s such a frustrating waste of time. I try to use this app on multiple devices and now find myself just not watching content on YES anymore. This is such a stupid reason to lose viewers. If it’s intentional, fire whoever made that decision. If it’s a bug, fix it! None of the other streaming services have this issue..Version: 4.9

Worst Streaming App I Have Ever Encountered (0 Stars)I have never experienced a worse app in all my life. Wish I could give 0 stars or even a half. Not only does it constantly log me out of my fire stick, it often takes me 5 or so efforts for the app the even stay open. It will just never open. Then, while watching, it constantly crashes. It’s so bad that I often opt to simply miss the NYC games instead of trying to deal with the app. Crazy bad. Needs major fixing. I hate it so so much. Couldn’t even go 5 minutes without being interrupted by a crash tonight..Version: 2.7

Stop Showing Recaps and Highlights Next to the ReplayUnlike a lot of reviews here, I mostly don’t have any issues with playback with the app but the one thing you all need to change is your placement of highlights and game recaps. I’ve had like half a dozen NYCFC games ruined for me this season because you choose to place the match recap or game highlights as the first video, rather than the replay. I try to watch every single game and when I can’t watch it live, I use the app to watch the replay. Nearly EVERY time I’ve tried this season to not spoil any games for myself, you have something that shows the final score in the tab or highlights that show the score. Please change this!!! Just have a tab with the replay by itself and no other videos!.Version: 2.2

Bad changesThis new version is way worse when it comes to UX. They removed the button to switch between portrait and landscape mode. The only way to get into landscape mode now is to turn your phone. I have the portrait lock on usually so now the only way to get into landscape mode is turn off that setting and rotate my phone. It was easier before. Also, now you have to tap a button to get into the Picture in Picture mode. Previously you could swipe up to get into Picture in Picture mode. That was way easier. YES, please change back to the way it was..Version: 3.4

App hasn’t worked for a weekThis was a good app UNTIL they went to this new subscription model. Viewers with a tb provider subscription have apparently been forgotten. I can’t get into the app since this change, The only thing worse than this is the customer support ! I have phoned, emailed and texted. All to no avail. They donT answer the phone. They don’t respond to email. And the text is the worst of all. You write a lengthy txt explaining the problem but the ROBOT answering doesn’t understand, I am about fed up with this level of NON support..Version: 6.1

Resounding No to the Yes AppBetween the Apple App and the Roku app, the issues are similar if not the same. Lagging streams, that usually stop then restart after 3 minutes. Screen turns black with no audio after a stream freezes. You then have to close the app and reopen it. When it finally works, you get hammered with commercials every few seconds. I would love to hear from your award winning analysts, but can’t because I have to watch a T-Mobile ad while they speak. Rinse and repeat. After a few times I have to reverify my subscription. At that point I give up and won’t watch any games. The app is consistently delayed compared to a live stream, some times over 30 seconds late. Whoever designed this app or even approved the amount of verifications and commercials should be fired. It’s that bad..Version: 4.9

A big NOEver since the “upgrade” the YES app on my phone is a big NO. Even though I went through the steps to refresh the “upgrade” and demonstrated that I am a paid subscriber to Xfinity, YES kept refusing me access. I tried to login with my Apple account and it didn’t work. I tried to login with my Xfinity account and it didn’t work. After constantly getting the message that I was not permitted to access I decided I was wasting too much time and going nowhere so I deleted the app. Pity. I love my Yankees, but this is not worth the effort. Perhaps I’ll try sometime when I have hours to waste going nowhere..Version: 6.0

Terrible AppThis app has to be one of the worst streaming apps I have ever used. When it’s working, the picture quality is grainy most of the time it freezes a lot and I have to exit the app and go back in and have to watch a commercial before it returns to the game; don’t understand that since it’s already showing commercials during the breaks. That wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t freeze so much or the picture quality wasn’t so bad. Paid $200 to stream the Yankees finally because I don’t want to pay for cable and it has been a terrible experience and it’s only two games into the season. I’ve tried the app on Apple, Samsung, Roku and all of them have had their issues. I never have an issue with other streaming apps; just this one. Feel like I got ripped off on this one..Version: 6.0

Not goodThis is the worst app ever! It doesn’t tell you that it’s a regional app until you have spent time signing up. At the end it tells you that you can’t sign up for the app because it only services certain areas. It doesn’t tell you that on the YES NETWORK either as they are telling you how to sign up for the app. You can’t even watch a short video on this app about the Yankees. All the videos are locked unless you sign up for the app. But you can’t if you live outside their very limited viewing area. I live in Ma. And my area is locked out although other New England states are not. The YES NETWORK is no better. They need to come into the 21st century with programming. All they show are games in the 1990’s or 70’s over and over again..Version: 7.8

App works as intended but lacks interactive featuresCan I watch my Yankees play anywhere on pretty much any screen, absolutely. But using the app at home I wanted it to be more then a way to watch the game. No 4k support. No interactive menu during the game. I want to be able to scroll to the scoreboard and check stats, or the batting order, or who is available in the bullpen for both teams. Right now I have to wait to see if Michael Kay says the info I’m looking for. It does exactly what it’s described to do but new versions need to take advantage of one of most powerful streaming boxes in the game. Make a app that is better then the viewing experience on tv..Version: 3.9

Worse and worseThe YES app upon launch was great but since has steadily declined in quality. This latest update has been the worst yet. Now every time you launch it the subtitles automatically start. You have to turn on, then off the subtitles! Every time you turn your phone for landscape view the app freezes. You have to relaunch it and re-watch a set of ads before you can go back to the programming. Every time you shrink it to PiP and then try to go back to regular view - yeah- same deal with freezing, relaunch, rewatch ads. I’m at the point of deleting this app which is sad bc I truly enjoy the programming on this app..Version: 5.0

Good quality when it worksThe app is great if you just want to watch on your phone. If you use it to cast to a chromecast, it will lag or freeze randomly. Sometimes it lags/freezes so often that it's not even worth the trouble of closing and reopening the app because it will happen again right after playing the game. It lags at least once every half inning but the commercials always seem to run smoothly. Please fix this; it has been a known issue for too long..Version: 3.9

Pretty terribleHey designers, all we want this app to do is show us the Yankees game. 1. It regularly freezes on the Home Screen forcing a force-close 2. It handles the TV login process very poorly, hiding content if your login has expired without asking you to log back in. Also freezes regularly (buttons don’t work.) And why do I need to sign in with an account first to then sign into my TV account??? Unnecessarily cumbersome. 3. GET RID OF ALL THE CRAP ON THE SCREEN. We just want to watch the game. No, I do not want to take quizzes. I already know I’m watching THE YES APP, that logo does not need to be so big (and doesn’t need the words “the” and “app” - give me a break.) And the EDGE icon doesn’t need to be there the whole time. Give me the option to get rid of that. One star. Would not recommend if there was another way to watch the games :-(.Version: 4.0

Great potentialIt’s convenient to watch my Yankees when on the go. However, the app CONSTANTLY asks you to sign in. There should be a feature where I can select “stayed signed in”. In addition, during the broadcast, a random commercial will start playing right in the middle of the inning!!! You then have to quit the app and launch it again. Finally, be prepared to watch the same 2-3 commercials over and over again. So much potential with this app to make this better when on the go! Must easier to watch on live tv then the app and that’s a huge problem in 2021..Version: 3.6

Quality is an abominationIt’s almost hard to type just how AWFUL the picture quality is of this this app. I am watching on an ATV 4K on a top of the line LG 4K TV connected via Ethernet with over 500 Mbps. I have MORE than enough to lower this app at its top limit. Not to mention it’s the ONLY app that is nearly as bad as this. The picture quality dips in and out from what seems like HD to blurry, every 5-10 seconds. Imagine watching a picture that goes from ok to unwatchable every 5-10 seconds. I’m connected via a username/password because I have to be. DO NOT give them your money and purchase their pass. At least not unless they actually watch their own app and see their own picture quality. Good lord, FIX YOUR PICTURE QUALITY!.Version: 6.1

App is a total piece of garbage.I pay a ridiculous amount. If money for the yes network as part of my tv provider and the app is an included benefit. But when I try to log in with my tv provider credentials, it tells me that I’m automatically logged in through xfinity and ready to watch! But then nothing happens. It just stays on that screen and there are no links to click to take me into the main portion of the app. So I cant watch anything. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled several times and the same thing happens every time. It used to work last summer - since the update I can’t get in. Absolutely terrible!.Version: 6.0

Doesn’t even come close to Fox Sports GoFox Sports Go was an amazing app that allowed seamlessly streaming games across all different platforms (i.e. iPhone, iPad, Xbox One, Samsung TVs, Chromecast, etc.). The new YES app can’t even compare. Not available on gaming consoles, no ability for Apple Airplay, no ability to stream onto a smart TV just flat out stuck with the mediocre app. The app interface looks nice but it literally takes 5-10 clicks of the “Play” button on the live stream of a game before the video player actually opens up. Finally, once it does open you are met with poor streams that often lag and picture quality that goes in and out. I understand this app is new but I really hope drastic improvements are made - pretty shameful it wasn’t up to par before this Yankees season began..Version: 3.7

Terrible quality and very inconvenientThe only app that I have this problem with across all devices that I stream with. The picture quality is constantly going in and out despite reliable high speed internet connection (both on wifi and on 5G). The quality just randomly drops off. The app also CONSTANTLY logs me out. I'll watch a game one day and have to sign in again the next day, but then it'll stay logged in for a few games until it eventually logs out again. I feel terrible for anyone that pays YES directly and doesn't have access through cable..Version: 6.0

Horrible user experience and reliabilityUsing the app is one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever encountered. I’m constantly asked for my login information, to log into my TV provider, to log back into my account, and on and on. Half the time, if I’m able to get through that maze, the app then crashes anyway, or never fully loads. I’m sick of it, and can’t wait for some kind of alternative option. Why am I paying for the service if I can never access it??? You need a better development team and better testing before putting something out on the market that’s consistently half-baked.Version: 6.0

Have to use it but terrible appThis app is just so frustrating. I moved from New York to Florida and now this is the only way to really watch the games still but the app is just horrible. It logs me out every other week without fail and makes me go through the whole process of signing in with my tv provider again and again. There is so much lag and sometimes the app will just quit and log me out in the middle of me watching the game. Hoping they improve this in the future as it is 100% a necessary app for me..Version: 6.7

MEHI watch on either my main iPad or my prior one. Sometimes one works fine, other times it doesn’t and I have to go to the other one. On my prior one it CONSTANTLY asks me to log in with my cable provider, sometimes with my main one. Sometimes I keep clicking on log in and nothing happens. And, since I can also watch on my cable, sometimes the app is as much as a half inning behind the actual live action. Dunno why—maybe the satellite is slow that day? But having to login so frequently is a pain in the *$$..Version: 2.1

Can’t click on anything useful in app (iPad 5th gen)I’m unable to click on sign in or click on watch live. I can click on buttons at bottom of nav bar but that’s it. I am on an iPad 5th generation. Please fix. After the continual advertisement of the YES app and me paying monthly, I expect much more! Although it’s not much to expect; I just want the app to be functional and do what it says it will. P.S I have signed in with my TV provider a few times before. The app can’t seem to remember me and it’s annoying to sign in every time. But the bigger problem is, I can’t even click sign in..Version: 3.9

Cannot watch ANY Yankee gamesI am a native NYer who lives in another state. I can’t watch ANY of the Yankee games that air on the Yes app — supposedly due to blackout. That makes NO sense. If the game is not airing on any other network, the Yes app would be the ONLY place to watch those games, if the app is carrying them. It makes this app virtually useless to me. What a joke, especially for a first-place team. I know I can’t be the only person going through this. Why would the game be subject to blackout restrictions? Don’t you want fans who don’t live in NY to be able to see the games? You would think so..Version: 3.9
