Metropolis: Remarkable Parking for Negative User Reviews

Not user friendly and does not refundWe recently visited Nashville and our hotel used this parking platform for their parking lot. Our reservation was from Friday evening to Sunday morning so we selected the 48 hour time frame. There was a glitch on the card information page so we had to refresh the page and re enter the card information. After entering this information there was no additional confirmation page before the booking was completed. It was only after the booking went through that we saw the permit length had changed to longest allotted time of 96 hours (2x the cost of the initially selected 48 hours). There is no way to change the length of the booking online once you it is confirmed so we immediately submitted a help ticket online. Even though we would not even be in the state of Tennessee for the extra 50 hours that had been added to the booking, they would not change the duration of the booking or refund any money. I have never seen a company be so unhelpful and charge a customer for a problem that occurred on their own platform, and I will definitely not be using this parking platform again in the future..Version: 2.0.5

Deceptive CompanyI was forced to use Metropolis to pay for parking in a garage and they did not make it clear that by paying to park, they were saving my personal data and credit card info to their site. I was using a rental car when I initially paid and now I am getting charges for a car that is not mine simply because the only info they require to authorize a credit charge is a plate number. *They are removing negative reviews, and I assume the positive reviews are bots or written by the company itself*.Version: 2.1.18

Awful company awful servicePredatory parking company. They don’t end ur parking session when u leave the lot and there’s NO OPTION to end once u leave so if u stay for 1 hour but book for longer to avoid getting a violation u have to pay for the FULL visit. Ridiculous in this day an age where multiple parking services automatically charge when u enter and exit. Stay away.Version: 2.1.16

Detroit One CampusThey are new to the Detroit garage but known on several sites for inaccurately recording your plate then 3 weeks later sending you a invoice for over $100!! Do not use this service many others have commented with similar experiences park at other lots!!.Version: 2.1.16

Horrible serviceThis app has absolutely terrible service. I got charged for double the rate I was going to pay without even confining to pay. They offered no help and did not let me refund the extra 10 hours they charged me for. Unbelievable I would never recommend this app to anyone. Horrible..Version: 2.1.2

System is mean and unforgiving, an impersonal greedy companyValidation didn’t work because I drove a different car even though agent contacted about the problem could find me in the system by my phone number. Paid full price which was expensive. On previous date had to pay because the driver in front of me was stuck at the gate and my time was then over the validation. Absolutely no refunds under any circumstances is the customer service answer..Version: 2.1.18

Just park on the street to avoid the headache! They made the simple process of dipping your credit card on the way out of a garage somehow excruciating. apparently, the system is meant to scan your plate on the way out, but every time i’ve used a garage serviced by metropolis i have had to call customer support because the timer did not stop when i left, incurring extra hours of fees. furthermore, it appears that if you want to visit two businesses with parking validation codes, you still have to leave the garage and drive back in in between in order to redeem both codes because the developers failed to consider you might want to patronize more than one place in the area, and validation discounts are completely nullified by staying even one second over. in short - - park on the street if you have to, it goes directly to the city instead of the pockets of yet another purveyor of middle-man apps..Version: 2.1.13

NO PHONE NUMBER FOR DISPUTESHi I pay for parking at a garage and changed plates and it didn’t update in the app and now I’m hit with almost $1500 worth of parking fees. There is no way to call customer support about disputes you can only email. You can only talk to a person If you’re locked in a garage. And they are not responding to emails and when they do it not only doesn’t even address my question, but it is written so bizarrely and with weird grammar that I truly don’t know if it’s a scam? I just need to talk to a person to figure this out!!.Version: 2.1.9

It’s A No from MeTerrible practice of ticketing people who have clearly paid and are absolutely no help in getting it resolved. No phone number to talk to anyone. Just overall a really poor business. Do not recommend. Would give it zero stars if I could..Version: 2.1.18

This company will try to gouge youThis company will try to gouge you. Once you give them your license plate and payment information, you will be automatically charged based on lots that you enter/exit. It is often unclear how expensive lots are until you actually pull into them. This is incredibly shady. They also have variable rates, so the price of a lot may not be the same from one time of day to the next. Others I know who use this service have reported being charged for tickets, towing, and booting with very little customer support. If you find yourself in a similar situation for minor infractions, do not expect Metropolis to work with you. They will give you the runaround, and you could be left footing a $100+ bill for their mistakes, lack of communication, or otherwise unethical practices, with very little recourse..Version: 2.1.23

Scam artists! Avoid at all costsAvoid any packing garage with their logo. You’ll be saddled with a heafty bill. They make it impossible to dispute charges given they have a bunch of stupid, careless people working the emails. They don’t have a number you can call either. This company is so corrupt..Version: 2.1.13

This App/Website is a SCAMPlease note that they won’t allow you to reduce time. When you’re trying to figure out how to pay and click around and accidentally add 24 hours, you’re stuck paying for it. You can contact the support button but they won’t do anything. I’d suggest parking anywhere besides these spots. They should allow users to edit their times but they won’t because they like yo rob peoples money. Definitely won’t be using this again and will make sure to tell others..Version: 2.1.7

Slumlords of parkingWon’t let you “stack” validations so if you’re parked more than 4 hours it’s $20 PLUS service fees because there’s always service fees even though there’s literally no service it’s just an app processing your credit card. If also constantly charges and refunds .99 cents to your card. I miss the old days of just getting a ticket and having it validated as many times as you needed to..Version: 2.1.12

This app is terribleI can’t even think of the right expletives to use in this review. There’s plenty that come to mind. The software rarely works and results in erroneous charges. I have had to reach out to their customer service on multiple occasions because it won’t register my visits until many hours after the fact (way past the point of my validations working). On top of that, the process to get a refund is time consuming and their associates don’t know up from down. Any competent business owner stays away from this place..Version: 2.1.23

Beware of hidden event ratesMy wife parked in a Metropolis lot for train service to DC. This usually costs about $9 for the day trip which is fair. However the last time she parked there, the cost was over $50 because of an event rate charged every 6 hours, in 6 hour blocks. No signage at the lot and no notification of the event rate until the final bill. In my opinion this is an extremely dishonest practice (but I am sure it is profitable). I asked for a discount and was denied twice with their support stating something like ‘we post it on our website so that should be good enough for you’. Glad she did spend the night in DC or the parking would have cost well over $150..Version: 2.1.1

Got a parking violation even though you payUpdate: it got even worse. They charged me for the subscription but lost the lot to another vendor. Did not notify me about the change. Absolute trash. I pay for monthly parking but still got a parking violation. The violation was for a neighboring lot and with a typo on the license plate. Their online tool to lookup violations doesn’t work so I needed to call them. If you call them and there are no agents it hangs up on you instead of letting you wait. When I did get an agent (Rebecca) they were very empathetic which was nice so shoutout to them for trying to do everything in their power but customer support is not able to look into these and relies on the same tool above so I have to email them. Last time I emailed them (when I bought the spot to confirm all I had to do was pay monthly on the app) it took them 3 days to get back to me. It would be so nice to just have someone take my money ($90/month!) and not cause undue stress. This was a paper notification, but imagine if they had towed the car...Version: 2.1.14

Beware unannounced rate changesTerrible experience with customer service - felt like I was talking to a wall. Got charged $11 to park for 39 minutes in a lot that provided the first two hours free parking. Sent screenshots, including of previous experiences parking in this lot without being charged. Apparently, the rates changed at some point within four days despite the lack of any signage indicating as such and there’s nothing they can do for a refund. Absolutely ridiculous. I miss the days before Metropolis took over my local grocer’s parking lot. Also the customer service reps continually mark tickets as “solved” immediately upon responding to a request, which is absurd. The consumer should at least get a chance to review and note whether they wish to continue their dispute before the agent unilaterally decides the issue is “solved.”.Version: 2.1.19

FraudTheir A-I scanned someone’s car as it entered and put it on my account and I was charged for someone’s parking. My car that is registered was sitting in my garage at home as I was getting alerts that someone had entered a metropolis parking garage and then again when they exited. It wasn’t me or my car thats registered. I’m home laid up in bed post surgery unable to drive. I contacted support and received no help. Disputing the charge with my credit card company. Too many flaws with this concept of parking..Version: 2.1.20

Not user friendly. Find somewhere else to parkApp not user friendly. I thought I was extending to a total of two days and I ended up adding two days to my already purchased time. There was no confirmation button or anything it just added the time and charged me. I explained to the company what happened and they said there was nothing they could do..Version: 2.0.6

Not good for making deliveriesI went in to make a delivery and had to drive all the way to the 8 floor parking lot to drop off food delivery and they charge me $7 for being there for exactly 12 minutes. I did not realize the charge until I was at another parking lot and had to enter my email and phone number, trying to get in and realized I owe them $77 for failing to pay the $7 charge for the 12 minutes and a fine for $70 These people are a total scam..Version: 2.1.18

ScammersI parked at the parking garage at 3939 stateline rd in Kansas City, MO. I received a violation notice in the mail with the inaccurate date and time of entry/exit and am being charged a $70 violation fee for a $12 ticket. This feels like a scam as the signage on the garage is not user friendly especially for those who have never been in a garage of this type. This was my first time parking in this garage and will for sure be my last! Especially because the timestamps and dates are inaccurate and they are asking me to provide proof that their camera timestamps are inaccurate. Please void my parking fee for the full amount!! This is not fair to those of us who have never been in a parking garage of this type and your company is taking advantage of this!.Version: 2.1.23

CrooksAll of these five star reviews have to be falsified. Once they have your credit card and license plate combo on file, they use it as permission to charge whatever they want with absolutely no recourse or consequences. Prices, policies, and terms of service are all hidden to intentionally confuse the customer. Customer service, even at the supervisor level, patently refuses to provide reasonable explanations or even consider a refund. They’re building their empire off of people that don’t have a clue what the parking price is, but once the cameras scan your license plate, your card will be charged and there is nothing you can do about it. It’s theft, but they’ll tell you that you agreed to it. So don’t use Metropolis parking lots, lest you agree to be stolen from, which I apparently did..Version: 2.1.10

Terrible customer serviceThey are charging me a “violation” fee after the app was not working correctly during the time I was parking. When reaching out to customer care, they insist I pay the violation fee and then “solve” the dispute. This is pretty unbelievable. Worst customer service ever. Don’t park at these locations unless you want a headache!.Version: 2.1.5

Be carefulThis app will start charging you 10 minutes after you enter a parking lot. As soon as you input your license plate and credit card, it will match it and start the charge. It did this to me for $40 event parking plus $2 service fee. Just ridiculous how it gets done without your authorization..Version: 2.1.2

This company is a scamThere’s posts about this all over the internet. But we used this app and parking service in Nashville, I set up the account on my app, made sure it was checking is in and out of parking lots every time. Months later I’ve received multiple parking tickets in the mail from them. For the exact parking I already paid for in their app. There is literally not a way to speak to a customer service representative on the phone. I’ve been emailing them for weeks with nothing more than a generic form email reply. DO NOT USE..Version: 2.1.12

Pay attention to the ratesI have been using this app to park at my local store ever since they took away the physical ticket option. The app was fine though, 2 hours of free parking, same as the ticket was. Until they upped the rates by 75%, and didn’t tell anybody. It went from two hours of free parking to 30 minutes, and I’ve been getting unknowingly charged $10 every grocery run from the beginning of this year that I’d been parked for 30 minutes and 1 second. If I had known this, I wouldn’t have been parking there. $10 base-charge is absurd..Version: 2.1.23

Awful customer ServiceTheir number isn’t working when they say they are open. Takes an eternity to get an email response. Have gotten different answers from different representatives. Completely disorganized..Version: 2.1.3

“Drive in drive out” with a ticket!Steer clear if you haven’t budgeted $100 for parking. I LOVED Metropolis and thought it was such a great company & service revolutionizing the parking industry. I live in a rural area now so I don’t come in town as often, but I used to seek out Metropolis lots for the convenience of parking. Unfortunately, the other day I drove in to a lot I’d used many times before. I didn’t get any verification texts which I thought was odd, but sometimes they take a little while to get through, so I trusted the service to work as it always had. As I was driving home I noticed a piece of paper on my windshield and lo and behold, it was a ticket with a $100 fine! Dispute was rejected and couldn’t be appealed, and I was instructed to pay up. Fine, I’ll do that, but that’s the last money this company will ever see out of my wallet. I’m sorry, but a company that springs 10x the bill on unsuspecting customers for engaging with its product as advertised is just shady..Version: 2.1.1
