New features made this “News” app unusableThe not so slow creep of this app integrating social media functions in a news aggregator was jarring. Add to that they removed any past rating of users as “sage” for reading many articles - and then ask users to follow readers - this after adding a commenting system that can’t be hidden by default made this an app i had to delete. The world is crazy enough so i’d rather not see more “commentary” on actual news. That’s why the world is the way it is. Everyone being able to show their half brain two cents on actual news written by journalists killed this app dead for me. So long and thanks for all the fish..Version: 1.63

Currently a below average news appDon’t get the big deal. Other than the “famous” founders of the app, it’s a pretty bad news feed. Not as good as Apple News or anything similar..Version: 1.54

Stop highlighting commentsI’m going to delete this app. I used to like it. However, once they introduced comments, I was a bit skeptical. Now, I’m see 2-3 comments highlighted under some articles. I don’t give a crap about these useless comments. Even Reddit doesn’t do something as dumb as this. Going back to Flipboard. Stop trying to make newsfeed sociable. Just stop it. Also, they have like 20 publishers. I’m seeing multiple articles from the same publishers constantly. I read one Vogue article and now I see like 5-6 of them on my feed constantly. How about get better at suggesting other publishers similar to Vogue?!? The new summarize feature is kinda pointless. Most articles already do their own summary at the beginning of them..Version: 1.61

Ok idea, poor executionFirst of all, I shouldn’t have to choose categories of things I’m interested in. It should figure that out itself. That part was annoying. Second, this app would be far more interesting if it stripped out all of the ads from articles. Otherwise this is just a worse version of Reddit. Third, and most fundamentally, the creators of this app should seriously question whether this is a good idea in the first place. Is it good for everyone to have a filter bubble of news? Everyone has their own individualized view of what is important in the world? I don’t know..Version: 1.47

Decent 1.0The interface is solid. However the news sources served are mostly underwhelming. Articles are often low value with click-bait style headlines. Even when I train it by picking and choosing the best sources and selecting "show fewer" on the most irrelevant articles, it still serves me a lot of crap. Apple News had a head start, but it is a lot better. Curious to see the social network component of this app when it launches. And if it integrated with newsletters, that would be a way to stand out..Version: 1.51

Notionally a great concept marred by frustrating bugs…I’ve been using Artifact for iPhone since it’s release and I really love it. Decided to install the app to my iPad and it went straight downhill from an experience perspective… The iPad app has a couple of frustrating gotchas that don’t seem to be present on the iPhone app: Bug #1: using the increase/decrease text size function on the iPad doesn’t do anything to the text…nada Bug #2: Profile statistics on iPhone app and iPad app are out of sync Once these two bugs are resolved, it’s easily a 5 star app..Version: 1.75

Garbage selection algorithm, biased towards tabloidsThe only thing that works in this app is the AI headline summarization. Unfortunately, that alone cannot save it. Bias your algorithm towards showing me news from the sources I have selected, stop showing me garbage that OTHER PEOPLE seem to like reading a lot..Version: 1.102

Ads and cookiesI like the idea and the UI, but can’t deal with the amount of ads and cookie prompts. Also too US centric..Version: 1.61

Over hyped product! There are bunch of regular news app can do and show much better news than this app. It has a very mediocre interface and there is not much happening in app and being AI driven app is a joke as most the big news app runs on some kind of algorithm for years now. Where they learn from our usage. In addition to app’s mediocre interface, every news link opens up with immense amount of ads. Reader mode is also hit and miss..Version: 1.47

Put Users in PowerThe problem with a social media center around news contact is that most news content is complete garbage. I love the addition of comments and voting them up or down. But we need this kind of control on the actual articles too. We need ways to reward actually great writing and downvote or flag clickbait. Right now it’s just like any other news app in that once the article gets your click, they win (get paid). Let’s have a way to let others know that “hey! this article is junk.“ or “Worthy read!” Also, I would love to default to reader mode, since most article pages are almost impossible to read based on their poor user experience. Love the idea but needs more to reinvent the news space!.Version: 1.58

Let users register with emailWho oh why do I need to provide a phone number to register?!!!!!.Version: 1.65

Needs better publishersSo many of the articles suggested are less than 300 words, mostly advertorials and lack any thoughtfulness at all. I’m sure if you look a bit harder, you can find much better publishers out there who write great stuff and don’t require subscriptions..Version: 1.54

Just a browser with RSS feedsMost of the decent articles are behind publisher paywalls. You can allegedly “import” your current subscriptions but I’ve had little luck with my WaPo sub. My feed does not really feel curated. In spite of identifying my interests when prompted to, a big chunk of me feed is made up of clickbait entertainment and life-hack articles which link directly to their websites complete with invasive and obnoxious ads. I see what they’re trying to do and I’m all for it, but I think you’ll get a much better experience by just opening the Apple News app… without making ANOTHER account. You won’t get to leave comments, but who really cares?.Version: 1.59

Ok recommendations, unreadable through the adsI like the premise of this app. Personalized news is possible and and worth exploring in this day. However, the news that I get comes from just about the same sources I check on anyway like the Guardian and The Independent. There’s not really like local news; Gothamist at best for the NY region. My biggest issue is that the web viewer Artifact uses to view the page is configured to not use my ad blocking extensions. This means that each article I try to view is an unimaginable shifting sea of ads. There are sticky banners on the bottom, the top, ads sliding in from the side after each minuscule crumb of text, and some taking over the screen entirely to advertise the latest Saudi construction project. On the page itself, I have to be very careful where I touch to scroll the page because I might accidentally graze an ad and get dragged through a sea of tracking websites before I realize what’s going on. This is dangerous, not just getting tagged by these networks but also potentially being exposed to malware delivered through ad networks. This is a great headache and ultimately makes me not want to interact with any notifications Artifact pushes to me, wasting whatever calibration effort I put in..Version: 1.53

Good start but needs work! Can we get an option to automatically open articles in reader mode without having to manually select it every time? It provides a cleaner look for the UI and eliminates ads. There are too many steps to block a publisher. I don't understand why you would bury that option behind a dislike button, especially when there's a Publisher Settings Menu. Please move the option there. Additionally, I would like to see a widget. Sometimes, I want to see trending news at a glance on my Home or Lock screen..Version: 1.75

My own terms?Reading on my own terms would be dark mode for all websites and not seeing any ads, both of which this app fails to deliver.Version: 1.50

MehThis app is meh.. I like the idea and appreciate that the AI in the app is providing articles on topics I have told it I want to read but I’m finding the quality of articles are rubbish. Absolute trash, that is what articles this app is providing - websites that are questionable, unreliable, bias writing and lack any quality of being news worthy. I can find quality articles by sticking to my RSS reader apps where I know the quality and source of information. The amount of data this app collects is just as bad as Facebook and Google - no privacy and your information is obviously sold to third party advertisers. I feel this app is a swing and miss. I’d change the app idea so it provides information and articles on projects/skills I am learning - that would be much more helpful. Eg: I’m learning about cars; here are articles about cars, tricks and tips in servicing, history of car parts, where to buy parts, future car tech, brand history, car market, etc. Finished my project, start a new project, etc..Version: 1.51

Ads are so intrusiveI’m loving the curation of headlines , but reading is impossible. I use a content blocker in mobile Safari (NeverAds) that hides the most obtrusive ads. Using Artifact, the ads are reader hostile. 50% of the page is cover with ads and I just got a full page pop up requesting a subscription, then a full page ad obscuring the article, then Artifact popped up a request to rate this app on the App Store. Perhaps they conflated my frequent clicks with pleased engagement. Logging into subscriptions is awkward. Login pages in Artifact don’t allow me to use my built-in password manager (Keeper) so I have to copy-paste between my password manager app instead..Version: 1.57

Advertising platform with some news sprinkled inThis is really just a platform that display’s advertising with a little news in between the ads. I’d prefer to pay for an app like this if all the advertising was removed, but then it’s just another news aggregator..Version: 1.50

So far so good.Seems good so far. However I’m getting annoyed at the amount of notifications I’m getting. Between article recommendations and my daily reading streak ending soon..Version: 1.53

Doesn't sync across devicesI'm logged into artifact on my phone, but after logging in with a login code on my iPad, it won't let me sync my account across devices. The support team and founders have been completely MIA when reached out to multiple times over email and even Twitter. Not the experience you'd expect from a team with such pedigree..Version: 1.68

Subjects and sources too limited.Good idea, good to see comments in, but when I had to choose categories, let's just say that these were way to generic. Great example is exercise, I've rarely seen such generic boring content. It's time someone puts in weightlifting with real articles about getting stronger. I'm not really interested in women's thighs exercises or yoga mats reviews. I respect some are, but when hitting subjects such as fitness, there needs to be deeper level of choices..Version: 1.57

Shockingly BlandThe whole experience starts with an amazingly myopic choice of "interests" of which you are forced to choose TEN and only gets more uninteresting from there. Topics you might actually be interested in, such as the performing arts, photography, even music are left out of the interest list entirely to make room for broad, bland topics like "Tech companies" and "Kitchen products" or my favorite, "Apps". And if the available topics leaves a bit to be desired, the lackluster sources on offer is even worse. Articles come exclusively from corporate news organizations. No local news. No special interest topics. Global Politics, Major Stories, Celebrity Gossip - that's pretty all you're going to get. Unless of course like overly broad coverage of sports or Buzzfeed listicles. This things supposed to compete with Google News? Hardly. Why can't anyone do what Zite accomplished 10 years ago - provide articles I'm interested in from a broad range of sources in a decent format? I'll stick to using InoReader for now. I may have to manually add my photography articles there, but at least I can see them..Version: 1.50

Good app but way too many adsGreat app overall but there's way too many invasive ads everywhere. A paid tier with no ads would be a welcome improvement..Version: 1.52

Unfortunately not the replacement I was looking forI’m looking for something to replace the reader I use now. I will not name it as I don’t want to have more people check it out. Came to this thinking I could replace it but this is not going to work. First thing they want you to add 10 things your interested in. There were not 10 I was but I still had to select stuff that I did not want to. Second unlike the reader I use this just grabs a bunch of random crap from all these different places some I don’t like and the reason I don’t follow them in my other reader. Third I use an adblocker as sites have become too much with all the pop ups and ads at the bottom of the screens or the video that plays at the top that follows you when you scroll down. The other reader I use when I go to that sites story to read it the adblocker works so I am able to read the story I want to read. This app does not so I’m fighting all these ads trying to read the story i want to read..Version: 1.58

Turn off comments preview while scrollingI appreciate the application and enjoy browsing the various articles it offers. However, I kindly request that the display of user comments in the article previews be either turned off or made optional. Some users, myself included, may not be interested in seeing others' opinions on the articles unless specifically accessing the comment section. To enhance the user experience, I suggest not automatically displaying comments while scrolling through the app to read articles. Thank you for considering this feedback..Version: 1.62

Great potential but can’t use it at this stageRecommendations and machine learning look great, and we could do with some good competition for the “bird app”. However, it has a flaw that makes it unusable to me. You have to read articles on the app’s internal browser. This means no ad blockers or privacy protection and even when I logged into a publication I pay for (Atlantic), I got ads. Ads and other promotions, outlandish animations, banners and so on have made modern websites completely impossible to read full articles on, which defeats the purpose of this app. I would recommend developers allow users the choice to open in an external browser, like many other apps do. Longer term – and I suspect this is planned – it would be great if the app partners with publishers to remove apps for a premium subscriber. Take my money as I’d happily support that initiative..Version: 1.51

Full of Ads, but No NewsIt’s just loading a bunch of web news articles, so unless you’re blocking ads at a DNS level, it’s just an ad-fest. I literally don’t see anything better about this than Apple News or Google News. What problem is this solving, besides adding back in the problem of ads? 😐.Version: 1.48

Toxic and Badly Moderated (it’s not Ai running the show despite what the creators claims)I made comments in a controversial article and was mobbed by a huge bunch of people not liking what I wrote; full of nasty insults and personal attacks on me and leaving all the downvotes to me losing rep score hitting -100 meaning I’m restricted from lots of the apps features I’ve had issues with apple in the past not publishing my reviews either so I’ll be watching if they let this be printed. And even if they decide no to I’ll make sure that any attempts by apple to silence my comments here are printed elsewhere. Not publishing this will just prove that apple has some sort of agenda much like this app does.Version: 1.105

Way too many adsSo far, I don’t like it. Just another news aggregator. Seems worse than Apple News. Way too many ads… makes it hard to read articles..Version: 1.49

Frustrating if your listing to audio in the backgroundI was so excited when this app first came out, it was a new aggregator that would learn off my habits and what I liked. Something that has become increasingly infuriating with the app is that anytime you open it and you have audio in the background, it will pause that audio it will stop that audio, this happens over and over even if you go back and start the audio again you’re guaranteed to have to pick between listening to something in the background while reading, or just finding a totally different app because Artifact won’t let you do it. I’ve submitted so much feedback to the developers and nothing comes from it. I don’t think they actually listen to their users, but rather just want to use our data to market their ads..Version: 1.106

Good but I have questionsWhy is there a streak tracking feature? Is staying connected to the news something people have trouble with? I mean, beyond being too connected to it? I like the idea of comments for each news article a LOT but why do you need my phone number to create a profile? Or even just to up or down vote a comment? And what’s with up and downvoting anyway? Why are you mimicking Reddit? Why not just hearts or come up with something else or maybe don’t make it “about the likes” at all? But the request for my phone number is justified as a 2FA measure but why not allow my email address to be an option? I’m deleting this app because seeing the comments and not being able to partake is too FOMO for me and I’d probably give in and give you my phone number. Not going to do that. I was excited about this app until I discovered it required so much of me. If this is supposed to be an alternative to Google News then maybe don’t ask me to hand over my private info to you? Heading back to Google News now..Version: 1.57

Great until commentsIt was great until the home feed was flooded with comments. No option to turn them off..Version: 1.61

Flying too close to the sun?Artifact has been my go to news app for months - it has good relevance, good recommendations, good topic coverage, and several actually unique news reader features (AI clickbait replacement for titles, dark mode in article content). Unfortunately the company behind Artifact doesn't seem interested in making a good news reader app anymore, which is a huge disappointment. The app gets worse with every update, adding new social media type junk. It's made very apparent because they push everything in your face whether or not you are interested. If you download this app today, you won't find the impressive news reader I found a few months back -- you will find a sad wannabe social media app with polls, text posts, and various other user generated (read: chatgpt generated) garbage that they attempt to shove in your face all over the app, inconveniencing every news browsing session further. The experience is profoundly cheapened by these changes and there is no way to hide or disable any of it. For now I continue to bash my head against the wall while using the app for news, because it's still the best way to mitigate clickbait and it's still the only app that consistently applies dark mode to articles. But every new "feature" they add has me spending more time looking for an alternative..Version: 1.104

In-app Browser and phone number requirement let’s it downIn-app browser directing to websites means every article requires you to accept/decline cookies. Makes it especially painful when you’re rejecting most cookie policies. Requirement for a phone number if you want to create an account is also annoying in 2023. If I want to add contacts it has to be with your phone book contacts which may not be the most appropriate network for this type of service..Version: 1.50

Has potential but issues are making me rethink usingI really want to like this app, it has helped me mostly leave Twitter and all the drama on that platform. The list of sources is moderate, and will hopefully continue to expand in the future, but there is a good variety as is. The first issue I have with it are it is a serious battery hog. Even on a good Wi-Fi signal, just scrolling through the new stories eats up battery. Actually going in and reading the articles probably doubles the battery drain. The second issue pertains to reading articles (on top of the battery drain). When going into an article it can sometimes take well over 30-seconds or longer for the content to appear, if it ever does..Version: 1.59

Don’t download if you data rationThe video ads on the news sites stuck your data, so if you ration your data like me it’s a problem. It’s a pity cos it’s a great app which seems to feed me news I actually read. The comments feature is good too. If it continues to eat too much I’ll have to delete it..Version: 1.62

Latest version killed the appDevs, I don’t know what you’ve done but Artifact is completely down now. Nothing is loading since the last update..Version: 1.101

Limited contentSimilar to Apple News and Flipboard - very USA centric. Works if you have tech or general interests but not if you want niche. The content is nearly all from large media outlets which makes it the same as the previously mentioned apps. The AI learning failed to work for me after over a month of use..Version: 1.54

Uninstalled. You ruined a great concept with the comments feature. Not every app needs to have social networking aspects. If I wanted Twitter, I'd get Twitter. I'm sure the reason many people got excited for Artifact was being able to browse the news they like, distraction-free. You just took that away. Maybe work on making the app stable and usable first, rather than adding unnecessary features without asking your users (that you gather data from) first? At the very least, you should add the option to turn the comments off. A month later, I gave Artifact another try. It's safe to say it has turned into an echo-chamber like Twitter and Reddit. I hope the team considers making comments an option. Just let us disable it and only read the news. It doesn't help that at every turn, the app wants to shove the user comments (who are always the same people striving for attention) down our throats..Version: 1.65

More internet toxicity and spun headlinesI thought the app would show me a variety of interesting news content. Instead it’s full of clickbait and toxicity..Version: 1.110

Getting worseI was a big advocate of Artifact after I first started using it, I felt the content was very relevant to me, maybe because early users skewed tech/startup? Anyway as more news sources are added this just gets worse & becomes every other news app that promises a curated feed. I have only a few categories of things I want to see for news but yet I see tons of sports & pop culture content I never asked for. I have every sports word blocked but unfortunately it only blocks things if the article title contains that word. I go through & block 10 sports sources & then 10 more new ones for different sports teams are in my feed when refreshing. I realize as much time as I spend blocking news sources attempting to have a feed I actually want like when I first started using the app, it’s easier to just go back to using an rss reader app with all the sources curated by me. Please don’t allow this app to just become every other terrible news app feeding irrelevant content to everyone..Version: 1.111

Ignores keyword blocksI add words to my keyword block list and if anything it seems to cause Artifact to amplify those words instead of block them..Version: 1.108

Good news reader. Spoiled succession for me.Was enjoying it but that’s pretty annoying.Version: 1.54

Same Old Emperors Same New ClothesIf you start with turds, no amount of polishing–or VC funding paired with mainstream media mythologizing–will create jewels. This app is a desperate attempt–by a group of tragically dejected culture terrorists–to contort technology into a force that shapes humans into ideal consumers. And for what? Garbage media organizations that are floundering to find a way to monetize their garbage content? Log on, select your "interests" from a reductive set of categories for careless consumers, and start generating revenue for a cadre of abusive nerds who believe they are entitled to everything. But what these VC varsity stars don't realize: people who are rooted in human culture–and not capitalism–are just gonna see this scam for what it is. This is some naked fools trying to scam everyone into telling them how good their outfits look..Version: 1.54

Simple, ADsIt has a simple interface but the main issue I have with it is that it’s basically a web browser and every time you press of any of the article is load an ad-ridden page full of cookie popups..Version: 1.50

Almost perfectI’ve been using Artifact since it was in beta. Consistently, the major frustration I have is that you cannot default to reader mode. I absolutely do not want to see all these articles with huge ads every scroll. Reader mode gets rid of the junk and allows you to just see the article and intended media. I can’t believe there’s still no option to set a preference fo viewing articles. It’s also disappointing that reader mode and summarize can’t be used together — which is my guess as to why reader mode can’t be used as default..Version: 1.64

For Americans onlyOnly US content. No UK or EU news. The only non-American news is Chinese propaganda. Deleted..Version: 1.50

Good AI. Annoying to not be able to share a clean linkI’d rather be able to have the choice to share the websites direct address It also uses a custom browser so you lose any of your content filtering as an fyi.Version: 1.50

Great app, but Canadian news would be great.Enjoying the app, but it won’t become my primary news feed until there’s some Canadian news content. Otherwise, it’s been good so far..Version: 1.54

The Ads Kill ItNice idea but almost unusable as you end up on web pages in the in app browser with no ad blockers so see the worst of internet ads making pages unreadable. Also only seem to get recommended one source Newsweek which reprints old news with sensational headlines..Version: 1.54

American, tech and pop culture focusedThe app feels well-made, the sorting and filtering algorithm seems pretty good too. But the sources are very limited at this point in time, strictly to sensational American news, pop culture, and tech. I’m already exhausted by the frivolity of the headlines I'm being served and am using the app less and less, pretty much checking in to thumbs down articles before leaving..Version: 1.54

Another Standard News AggregatorNothing new here. It’s a slightly better Apple News with the same problems (content and algorithms) My main issue, like Apple News, is old news. I have no desire to see week or month old stories. Would love to see an option to choose. Though the app already struggles to add content so I imagine limiting this would make the app almost useless. And please get rid of the completely unnecessary ‘Add Contacts’ card. Stop trying to force users into this. Bugs/issues I’ve come across: - when loading specific categories that are not ‘For You’, the app struggles to find/load content (infinite spinning wheel) - feeds (‘For You’ tab excluded) constantly push me back to the top in the middle of scrolling through content. - lengthy load times.Version: 1.61

Decent app, not seeing the benefitGreat way to read days old news articles with full-page-height ads every few lines or for checking out the latest trends in paywall prompts I guess..Version: 1.50

We don’t need more ads in our lives but maybe a dark mode instead? We are already constantly bombarded with so many ads so definitely, we don’t need more. Something nice will be having a dark mode option for the entire app. Thanks!.Version: 1.52

This isn’t it.AI filtered news feed with presumably no bias sure does keep cramming left wing garbage down my feed even after attempting to continue to keep it as neutral as possible. Even worse than the news articles that I see are the atrocious takes from left wing standing comments. So much just blatant hate coming from people complaining about how people on the right hate more than they do it’s just nauseating. Hard to believe these people actually exist and manage actual lives and integrate with real society. This app provides them a breeding ground like truth social does for the hate from the right. Nothing will ever change in our country until the hate subsides and love and respect prevails. Simple as that..Version: 1.85

Great community, but ads….So. Many. Ads. Then some more ads. With an advertisement thrown in for variety. Frequently ruins the reading experience. No hope of improvement as Systrom (creator, if instagram creation fame) has publicly professed his love of the ad based revenue model. If it weren’t for the absolutely aesthetically hideous and functionally frustrating ads it would be a home run 5 star app. Update: installed a system wide ad blocker that made the experience MUCH BETTER (but sadly meant I was stealing the service since they offer no other way to support them. Just deleted the app as it is quickly morphing into yet another junk filled social app with posts and surveys and comments and whatever they dilute the newsfeed experience with next….Version: 1.106

Nice aggregator, but the ads are brutalIt's nice to be able to have your feed and news together in one place, solid stuff. But the in-content ads are out of control. Makes it hard to read, follow a thread, or know what is or isn't an ad. Suffocates the experience. I'm sure a subscription model will suddenly appear to "fix" this..Version: 1.106

Great idea, poor executionThere’s a reason I don’t read news articles on the web. They’re full of garbage ads. So is this app. If you’re trying to be better than the stock, Apple news app, then you’re gonna get up earlier and put a lot more effort into the user experience..Version: 1.81

US focusedI like the idea, however the topic lost and news sources are US based, so it doesn’t seem appropriate ie for UK. May try again if UK support added.Version: 1.66

Can’t use same account on iPhone and iPadSeems interesting but the fact that you can’t use the same account on iPhone and iPad, an Apple products staple feature, makes it a non-starter for me..Version: 1.50

American Tabloid AppYou can’t pick topics outside of American centric topics. The entire rest of the world apparently fits in one news category, despite the app being available outside the US. You can’t follow news organizations or search for them. You can only follow one of the set topics created by the developers. And there isn’t that many. Feed is filled with tabloids from the start. It’s a worse news experience than Twitter, even after all the garbage Musk has done..Version: 1.64

US focusedAlthough there are some good general interest articles, the focus is on US culture and from US publications. If your interest is across local content, like the UK, it’s better to use a different reader app..Version: 1.50

Great new app, if you’re an AmericanThis app is fine to use if you’re just using it for general topics like gadgets and fitness and whatnot, but it isn’t great for political news that isn’t from the US. Political news is segregated into just US news and literally everything else..Version: 1.54

UnreadableThe advertisements load and load and change the location of the text of an article. This results in a maddening experience. You can be engaged in an excellent storyline and suddenly the screen goes blank as ads recalibrate the positioning of the content leaving you hunting around for where you had been interrupted. Suggestion: focus first on a consistent predictable customer experience then the advertisement content execution not the other way around. I’m trying to embrace this app but you keep pushing me away. (All of this while using an iPhone 14 Pro Max btw).Version: 1.75

The Dislike function has no effect whatsoeverIt’s okay as a news aggregator. Admittedly it’s hugely US focused so some of the ‘headlines’ are about people no one in the UK has ever heard of, but that’s okay. The real disappointment is that the Dislikes button has no effect on your feed. I’ve disliked dozens of stories on the same couple of topics but it doesn’t make a difference to what you see. So really, there’s no reason to choose this over an RSS reader. Update: had to uninstall as the performance seems to be getting worse, not better. Apart from the disliking seeming to have no effect, the content of feeds is getting more random. This week the football fee has contained stories about baseball, basketball and formula 1, and today there’s a story from Quartz about the death of the Harrods owner. Nice try, app has potential, but it’s not there yet..Version: 1.85

It’s great with one major problemThe app it’s self is great! Sleek and easy to use with the articles I’m interested in right there. The discussions section is cool to see others opinions on the matter. However there is one major flaw. Opening a browser to the mobile website of the news article is a truly awful experience. The sites are filled with non stops ads. Ads in the page , ads stuck at the bottom and the worst is the ads that auto play videos on a random section of the screen. This really makes me want to NOT use the app. If this could be addressed either with a built in reader mode or some sort of ad blocker this app would definitely be one of the best news apps I’ve ever used. But as it stands it’s not a great experience to actual read anything..Version: 1.81

Needs more news sourcesWas drawn in by the promise of algorithmic news, faced the reality that the algorithm isn’t very advanced and is drawing from very limited, american news publications.Version: 1.107

Not intelligent; not about newsI should have known from the most recent developer note bragging about 3D level-up notices that this app isn’t serious about news. Instead, it throws in some flashy gamification features that just get in the way of actually finding and reading what you want to read, immediately breaking the experience. Underneath that, it’s no smarter or better tailored than any other news app that I have found for iOS. Same sources, same categories, a somewhat less useful and less customizable browsing setup..Version: 1.74

Other languageI would like to have also french articles in my feed. Also, The Economist doesn’t show up and I don’t understand why. Good app but needs improvement..Version: 1.54

Repetitive notifications, silly “science” newsEnjoyed it for a few weeks until for one reason or another, the algorithm must have decided to give me notification after notification about Elon Musk drama. I could not care less. I do want notifications. Just not like that. In addition, despite some ai rewording of titles, it doesn’t seem built to get rid of the proliferation of silly clickbait when it comes to science news in particular. It’s painful to see “millennium falcon comet” and the like. I’ve got some alternatives. Maybe if the app improves or I change in the future I will revisit it..Version: 1.81
