✓ My favorite bible app!This app has been my favorite for a number of years. I've recommended it to all my friends and we all use it. Love the KJVS with Strong's concordance for doing word searches/studies on Hebrew and Greek on the fly. It does crash occasionally. Can it be fixed?.Version: 4.9.21
✓ Show a little graceI see CHRISTIANS really ripping on the Mantis people and giving low ratings because they had problems BROUGHT ON BY APPLE'S IOS 8.0 "UPGRADE". Let that soak in. Vent your fury on the right people. I had problems too - it would NOT run, and I had to uninstall then reinstall it. Fortunately, I had exercised basic computer common sense and periodically backed up all my personal settings on Mantis' server (for free). The reinstall was easy - their servers remembered me once I logged in, and I easily reinstalled all my purchased bibles, commentaries, dictionaries, etc. What more do you want the Mantis people to do about this? Send a tech over to your house and write a custom program for your unique problem? Lighten up..Version: 4.9.21

✓ Favorite Bible Study AppWith so many Bible apps out there, Mantis uniquely lets me view cross references without leaving the verse I was studying. With the NASS, I can see other uses of Greek words and even their root words without leaving the verse I was studying. I haven’t found any other resource quite like it..Version: 10.1.72

✓ Love it!Great app, though wish there was a NIV or The Message translation included, for those of us that don't like the older style writting. Love the interface, only complaint is that sometimes I accidentaly press the "Read" button while browsing, which then brings you back to the "Bookshelf". ✓ The bestTime to review Mantis again. The latest version bring some great features with it, the new word search is great and the new options (Hilite, Find, define and Share), this makes an already great Bible app even more useful. I find this app very usable in church or in Bible studies, now on the iPhone 4 it is quick enough to keep up with the preacher! I love being able to explore dictionaries, commentaries etc while following the text. I would rather use this app that much more expensive Mac Bible software..Version: 4.9.1

✓ Good, but It needs workThe Bible intergration software is great. Everything is at your finger tips and you have the all collections. You can create your own study bible with tools your desire. The thing its very limited and updates are not very often. The books/bible are also limited. You only get four colors to choose from to high light and they only show up on book you have open at the time. Which means, if you have one KJV open and high light it, the highlight will not show up if you have NLT open. It would nice to be able to have an option to underline, in a manner you would with my own bible. I have a love hate relationship with this application. The highlighting can be cumbersome and crashes, if it did not like something. Their cusotmer service is great and they respond within reason..Version: 4.9.21

✓ Best Bible Software Ever!This is a geat app ... very easy to use and the growing list of features with each update is remarkable. I love that the content resides on the devise for offline reading. Keeping notes is a breeze and multiple translation comparisions in Mantis is the best implimentation I've seen on any device and with any software. Most importantly, Mantis' customer serivce is stellar. I've written of 3 seperate occaisions and on each of them I had direct response back and the issue was resolved very quickly. ✓ On The MoveSo the new Mantis X has been released. It’s still great, and I have been writing to the developers asking about improvements - for example, to the search feature which is now much more limited than it was in the previous version. I have had prompt responses to each of my emails to the support team, often within an hour of sending them (from Australia!!), and I understand that they are working on modifications as we speak. I guess they didn’t get how Apple works - or more accurately, doesn’t work unless you update things regularly. Provided they have learnt that lesson, I am confident that the new version will be improved on a regular basis, and encourage anyone using it to keep going - things will keep getting better. I have tried all the other main bible apps which have similar features and always find mantis to me to be more useful for study and researching words. They are still in transition of redoing the platform to be compatible with the latest iOS operating system but it works fine. Very helpful staff if you need to email for help. ✓ For Serious Students of the BibleHave used Mantis for years. Especially helpful during a sermon to spot check the preacher for accuracy and to review theological comment for another perspective. Having a dozen different Bibles at your fingertips, commentaries, Greek and Hebrew word studies, dictionaries and other resources is priceless. The add ons are worth every penny. The guys who provide support are extremely helpful and supportive. They are also servants in their own churches. Yes, there are occasional glitches but it always gets corrected. ✓ Love itI think I’ve had mantis since my first iPhone 3 maybe 10 years ago or so. I couldn’t love it more! I spent maybe $50 on the new American standard with strongs, the BDB Hebrew dictionary, and the TGD Greek. ✓ Love this Bible app and the people who created itI have used this Bible app for years. It is fabulous. I can type my own notes within the text, highlight in different colors, bookmark, study, memorize, and quickly look at scripture references as I read. It truly has everything I could want in a Bible and I can take it with me wherever I go. I too own an I-phone and it crashed after installing an update. I thought everything I had was gone forever. I finally had to uninstall and reinstall, and was sad that my NIV version was gone along with everything else. I contacted the company as a last ditch effort and they responded almost instantly. They explained how to get back in to an account I didn't know I even created and they helped me get my Bible back with all of my notes! I was so relieved! The app is also packed with features like verse analysis, which is usable if you purchase additional translations, commentaries, or dictionaries. The downside is this app only includes the KJV for free and requires you to pay for other translations. It also doesn't have some the online interaction components that some other apps have (e.g. allowing people to share input on verses). ✓ Just needs a few tweaksI agree with chorus79 that you might want to consider changing the icon and the welcome screen. Also it would be good if you can add MKJV and other free bibles (like they do on other iPhone bible programs), including international ones if possible. Feature wise, it would be good if we can have an option to only see the books we have (or at least lighten the colour of the ones we don't have to light grey or something). Also, I would like it if we have an option to display the notes after the verse, which seems very logical. ✓ Very Good!I got this because I wanted to have the NRSV and only the NRSV on my ipod. (You buy the NRSV - deutero-canonical books included - online, then download to your ipod. You can delete the KJV that comes with the program.) If you highlight, "erasing" is a bit of a pain: you have to change the highlight colour to white (in 'Settings') and then go over your previous highlights. But I'm not a big highlighter.... Although it has not been updated very recently, the existing product installs fine on new devices running iOS 9. If you have experienced crashes or launch failures before, try deleting and re-installing this app. Mantis Bible Study remains one of my tools for portable Bible Study, not least because of the wealth of resources available, and the ease of use. ✓ Excellent app....This works like a dream for me, having added two further versions to the KJV that's included free. Click on a verse number, and you can bookmark the verse, add a note, and even compare the same verse in all the versions you have installed. Navigation through the bible is quick and easy, and you can switch between versions without losing your place. Thumbs-up for the search function too. ✓ Brilliant!! Fast and simple to navigateBest Bible application I've downloaded by far. The navigation is super fast - especially using the shortcuts to chapters and verses. This makes such a difference in Church when you're moving between references. I also like the history function to jump around quickly. There's lots of Bible versions and other books (commentaries, dictionaries etc...) that can be bought and then downloaded from their website. I much prefer this approach, as it means I can build up my versions and other books in time, rather than buy a single bundle now. My one support question was answered within minutes. ✓ Great applicationI've tried a number of bible applications and this is by far the best. Great facility for creating in line notes and to bookmark verses for later reference. For those that like to stay organized, you can create nested folders to store your bookmarks by subject or theme. Notes and bookmarks can be backed up to the Mantis web site. ✓ Tried again and it works great!I was ready to give this one star, but on my 2nd try to to download Mantis to my new iPad Air2 (iOS 9.2) it was smooth. It even remembered me (iPad was set up as a former one), so I didn't have to look up my password and user name to download my Bibles, commentaries, etc. It looks like they haven't done an update since 2013, but I can't believe it is totally abandoned since mine is working smoothly..Version: 4.9.21
✓ Excellent bible appThis program is excellent, and even suffices as a worthy replacement for my laptop if necessary (I work fulltime for a church). To answer previous questions the reason why other versions (e.g ESV, NIV, NASB) aren't free is because they aren't in the public domain, so Mantis need to pay the publishers for your license. ✓ Rotation lock brokenI love this app. It is my default iPhone bible reader but the latest version has broken the rotation lock function on my 3G iPhone (iOS 4.2.1) I have allow rotation turned off but it still rotates. This makes reading in bed very difficult. Four stars for a great app. Back to five stars when rotation lock is fixed..Version: 4.9.14

The only let-down really is the lack of modern versions like NIV and NLV which are not options to download. The Message Bible is available but with a price tag. Would like to see iCloud support so I can continue my reading on any future iPhone/iPad and get all my notes pushed across wifi. Would also like to see better ways to share like Twitter or FaceBook. ✓ Great!It has a really great selection of bibles and resources. The best setup that I have seen for bibles for the iPhone. Looks very nice too. The only thing, and I mean the only thing that's bad is the photo corners. On the last update, Mantis put these grey triangles at the top corners of where your reading. ✓ Back and better than ever.This is by far my favorite bible app. I’ve used it for ten years. The recent update was long overdue but it’s finally here and I love it. I’m able to see the original Greek and Hebrew words and their definitions with just a tap. Commentaries on each verse are a click away. I do wish they would bring back being able to turn the page with a swipe anywhere on the screen instead of having to click at the top arrow but that’s minor. Thank you for the update. However, I have bought other translations and it was well worth it. This is a life time investment.
