Mantis Bible Study for Negative User Reviews

Needs Full Screen like iPhoneUnfortunately another update passes an still no full screen like the iPhone version. Does not compete with rival apps who offer a clean full screen UI. The most confusing thing is the settings are the same but they just don't do anything on the ipad. The corner scrolling hi is intuitive and an advantage but its just very buggy. Sometimes I let go on a book and nothing happens. Other times the bars just won't go away after letting go. Other times they colour of the bar goes away but the writing doesn't. It's also more difficult to activate on the ipad. Fix these two things and you take a massive leap forward. At the moment it's fine on the iPhone with full screen but looks very clunky on ipad compared to olive tree and pocketsword..Version: 4.9.20

Reading plans don’t work anymoreEver since the update to Mantis X, you can’t use the reading plans. They show up, but don’t link to the text. I bought ESV for daily reading, and completely wasted my money. I thought it was because my tablet was too old and wouldn’t update anymore, but now I have a new one, and the plans still don’t work. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but still no success. I now use a different app, by a different developer. I would like the old Mantis back. It was much much better..Version: 10.1.72

BuggyIn-app purchase ate my 21 bucks. Which is dodgy anyway since the esv is FREE for personal use..Version: 0

Mantis crashingsI use an iPhone, and iPad with the latest iOS 8.4.1 update. The app continues to crash. The app has very valuable tools, and they are much needed on a daily basis. One thing we have learned is not to do anything that will be a grievous burden to others, and not to provoke (i.e., irritate) one another according to Galatians 5:26. That said, and along with the customer's needs and satisfaction being one of the highest (if not the highest) rate of concern with the company providing the service, there has to be a way for the Mantis' technical staff to find a solution, and meet their customer's satisfaction. Besides, the customers are the main reason why Mantis is still operational. Please consider fixing the problem, and eliminate the discomfort that it causes when it crashes. I have been a customer for at least 12 years. That alone speaks volumes. Thank you in advance for your support, D. Rudolph Gibson.Version: 4.9.21

Feels like the "Preying" MantisInteresting. I've tried a number of bible apps (> 12), and the Mantis tools are by far the MOST expensive to start with. But you'd better get used to the feeling - you'll never take your hand out of your pocket if you want more than the absolute minimal versions. So not only are these apps the LEAST helpful and flexible bible study apps, you'll pay for the privilege of reading bibles that are actually FREE in most other bible apps! I'm sure the developers will mumble something about verification or importing (and probably mention that the bible doesn't forbid ripping people off when it's for a good cause), but it's a long lost argument. At the very least, you have to create an account on their website, even if you wish to just download the other 4 "free" versions! But woe betide him who wants the KJV, Young's literal translation, or any other version, for that matter. You'll be paying up to $45 for bible versions you can get for free anywhere else! In fact, by that point, they lost me. Permanently. And it's not as if this app let's you do anything truly helpful - such as parallel readings, interlinear layouts, or pretty much anything else apart from straight reading. Compared with tools like the Blue Bible and eSword, this app is pretty darn agricultural, in a pre-medieval way. The extra tools (notes and so on) could have been nice, but they're buggy and clunky to use, and consistently lost track of even basic notes. I certainly wouldn't risk my term paper on this particular app - no way! If you're a student, spend your limited cash elsewhere. Actually, that stands for anyone, not just students.Version: 4.9.15

Great appGreat app, I wish there was an NIV version as well....Version: 0

Awesome App!I just love this free application! I enjoy being able to highlight scriptures, note take, and the daily scriptures which will help me read the Bible in a year..Version: 0

Used to love it but...Now it consistently crashes every single time I open it (iPhone 5). It has been doing this for the past 5 or so months. I've had to get a replacement app because I'm serious - it always always crashes; it never opens. :( Did it in iOS 6 and I hoped iOS 7 would fix the problem. Nope :'( Please fix this....Version: 4.9.20

Beware greedy developerI used to love this app. Spent lots of money but got my buck’s worth. And then... update of app... couldn’t restore most of my purchases so, correct me if I’m wrong, Mr. Mantis, but that seems a brilliant way to make money. I tried to get support, but couldn’t. So, too bad there is NO integrity. I refuse to trust my money with purchasing something from some company which has used an upgrade as a way to keep the money coming in. No real effort here. If Mr. Mantis, your developers are true Christians, I’d repent..Version: 10.1.72

Useful, but frustratingFrustrating. Upgraded to Mantis X a few years ago and ever since it’s been Impossible to access my notes. The bookmarks, notes, & etc are lumped into a new feature, & impossible to figure out how to find any of it, after years of trying. Mantis claims the notes are not lost, but good luck proving that. Lesson: keep your Bible notes on paper, because app developers periodically have “great new ideas” that don’t pan out. The three stars are for the NASB with Strongs, search tool & options (still easy & intuitive), as well as many multiple translations available..Version: 10.1.72

Far to many glitches in new versionThis app used to be the best Bible reader on the market. Now it is quite possibly the worst. Selecting Bible verses is hit or miss now since barely pressing on the screen while scrolling will cause you to go to the wrong book. Don’t bother going back that will exit instead of taking you back. Notes and search are now broken too. The old search was so helpful. Now the search is extremely finicky and groups all the verses so you are forced to click to expand the blocks. Please fix the glitches and bring back the old search, bookmarks and notes features. 🙏 You removed all the various font styles. Please bring back "courier new"..Version: 10.1.72

Not bad but...This app is quite nice the features work well, however the icon is hideous and looks bad on the screen up against the other well designed icons. A small problem I know, but this is an iPhone where design is paramount. It would be a good idea to update this when you update the app just to keep up the standard of design that is all things apple & iPhone..Version: 0

Loved the old Mantis.I loved the old Mantis with the Strongs reference and underlined words(KJVS). When I updated my IOS, the old version was no longer supported, and I had to re-purchase the new version if I wanted the strongs reference(KJVS). Now I find that I have to purchase the strongs bible for each phone or tablet I want to have it on. It says it’s shareable among family members, however that only applies to the free version. Read the print carefully. Each version besides the KJV, purchased in app is one time for one device only. The old version was pay once for each Apple ID account..Version: 10.1.72

Losing stuffGreat app but seems somewhat buggy. I'm getting really tired of losing my notes, bookmarks, etc. over and over. This is the most expensive app I've ever bought (NKJV) but doesn't hold a candle to some of the development going into some of the free apps out there..Version: 0

I luv Jesus dudeGod Bless U, Best app on my phone by far untill this new update now it keeps on shuting dwn. What's up Mann?.Version: 0

Love it mostlyURGENTLY URGENTLY NEEDS UPDATE. iPad and iPhone now telling me that if this app is not updated it won't work with next iOS I gave purchase bibles ect for this app and soon they won't work. Please fix this Love this app. Have been using it for a long time. Have many different bibles and references. One problem. Needs to be updated!!!! Keeps telling me it is slowing down my iPad and iPhone due to no update. Please please please update this app asap. TIA.Version: 4.9.21

Crashed a few times, didn't offer what I wantedOnly really has KJV for free, although has many interesting books for sale (many available for free in other apps). I like the way the handful of free reading plans were organised, but not really suited to my needs..Version: 4.9.4

Time the UI was overhauledThe app had not been working for some time, which is frustrating having bought add ons. The interface is very old fashioned now. Not nice to read on an iPad, especially with Strongs numbers. But it is one of the heavyweight apps that can help with delving into word dictionaries, lexicons, commentaries, etc. The ability to compare versions inline is quite good, sling with the daily reading plans. But the lack of a personal journal feature is a big weakness. The ability to copy and share is limited to a one-verse-at-a-time process, so is not great for sharing or sermon preparation. It is a good that Vines is available, but disappointing that you can't jump to entries straight from the bible (rather you have to remember the strongs number, switch to search, type it in, and manually look the reference up). In summary, could be great, but without some love and attention, is going to get left behind by newer fresher apps..Version: 4.9.21

Don't buy, abandonedThis was once the best Bible study app available, with top notch customer support & features. I've invested substantially in commentaries & other material via in-app purchases, but now it probably won't work on your phone or iPad, especially if it's a relatively new one. It hasn't worked consistently on mine for several years. I used to get angry when an app I invested in would be abandoned & eventually stop working but that's the nature of the digital world we live in. It's the rare developer that stays in business for decades now..Version: 10.1.72

Only good upgradeHey guys me again I'm a big fan of this app I think it's the best out there, unfortunately again this upgrade wipe all my existing notes and bookmarks like the previous upgrade. It may not ur fault for this to happen but can you please do something about it, it's really getting annoying now. Although I have to say that the upgrade version was amazing. Thank you..Version: 0

Not that greatThe features and concept of this app are really good but it only comes with King james version installed, you have to pay for the rest of the different versions off the mantis bible website, the 4 most popular verstions NASB, NET (both of which arnt yet available), NAS and The message range between 17 and 30 dollers and the rest are all $5.99, unless you have a 16gb iPhone this app is going to take up a lot of space and is expensive in the end up anyway compared to some of the other bible apps out there which are just as good for example bible scope which does pretty much the same and gives you 3 different references + commentary for the new and old testaments for only a couple pound.Version: 0

Great idea, but buggy appI used to love the app for its many functions. However, even after deleting the app, re-installing and restoring bookmarks as instructed on their website, it still is a buggy app. For instance, the highlighting feature either gives and error message or crashes. This is very frustrating, particularly when in church and trying to focus on the message. Again, while I love the concept and have purchased multiple translations for use on this app, it is unreliable..Version: 4.9.21

DisppointedI cannot open it now, since the update and the nass version which was not free, i cannot access either....Version: 0

What happened to the search engine?Since I grew up on the KJV, I still use it to search for scriptures. The Mantis app used to be great for scripture searches. Just enter a couple of key words and voila! It was done. However, since the ‘new and improved’ version came out, it does not work well at all. For instance, if you were searching for 2 Samuel 11:1, you could enter the words kings and battle and it would come up quickly. But no longer. The search would produce “0” results under the new version. My go to app is no longer reliable for this..Version: 10.1.53

Crashes constantlyGot this app with NLT version, Mathew Henry's and a dictionary. The thing crashes regularly and I have to reset my phone. Very dissappointing for amount I paid for it..Version: 4.9.1

Crashing at startPlease fix asap..Version: 4.9.21

Note FaultHaving recently participated in a bible study session, I made some notes on the app. When I attempted to retrieve these notes for my reference points I was unable to unless I selected "edit" note which allowed me to the review my notes. Secondly I wanted my notes to link up with the verse I was referring to but this option was not available. If you require just a bible just to read or for reference then this app my be of some use, however if you require practical usage such I note taking and storage then I would venture else where..Version: 4.9.18

Not impressedNot simple to use. Too many features ..Version: 0

Waste of TIME!The entire app is is full of false information!.Version: 4.9.15

Don’t buy. AbandonwareI’ve been with Mantis for over a decade, investing in many bible translations and books. Unfortunately, I’ve upgraded my devices many times since anyone at Mantis has updated their app. Their website has been unchanged for years and while they gladly take money from customers, their contact us page doesn’t work and they don’t respond to emails. With my latest phone update, my password no longer works to restore purchases and it seems nobody is around to help. If the company does revive itself I will update this review but as of now my purchases are worthless..Version: 10.1.72

Do not buy anything from them.I use to love this bible study. It now there is no customer support. Had all my bibles and I would prepare studies, sermons and teachings. I’ve taken it to Siberia, Trinidad, Paris, London, Germany, Mexico, and several places in India. I’m not sure what has happened to the company. Ive tried contacting them several times to get help with the simplest things. There is zero customer support. The new version won’t even copy and paste. So frustrating. Especially since I’ve spent so much money and Ive used it for years. Very disappointing..Version: 10.1.72

Not as good as beforeI’m glad to see Mantis back as an app however I am having difficulty tapping open a verse which exposes my selected references material and comparisons Bibles. I usually hit a word that then wants to be highlighted and then tap, tap, tap trying to open the verse. Same for trying to close. Hopefully this will be addressed in a new fix! I did find however that if I increase the font size it helps with the tapping in order to open and close a verse! Other than that I love the app and use it often!.Version: 10.1.24

Beware of ignored bugsAll software has bugs. I get that. I understand it. But the worse big is one that the builder ignores. I’ve been using this app for more than 10 years. I’ve purchased over $500 worth of add on content. I loved it. But in the past year I’ve lost the ability to create notes and connect to a passage. I can create the note but as soon as I leave the chapter when I come back the notes are gone. I’ve shared this with the builder dozens of times. Sent videos showing the bug. My requests for an explanation or a fix seem to fall on deaf ears. As a result I’m reluctantly forced to leave the app and all of my content investments and find another. That grieves me. I don’t know the makeup of this company. Perhaps a single individual who has become uninterested? I don’t know. Hard to find out. Bugs I understand. But ignoring those bugs is simply not acceptable for me. This decision will cost me. I will lose 10 years of personal bible notes. I will lose over $500 of content. But I must have an app which supports personal notes in my bible at a verse level..Version: 10.1.72

What happened?Previous to Mantis X this was a great app. With the Mantis X update this is absolutely horrible. Far to many software bugs to even begin listing..Version: 10.1.44

Search doesnt work!!!Don't update..Version: 4.9.5

Note for DeveloperPlease, please update this app for the latest iOS. I, like others I'm sure, have years of highlighting and notes invested in this app (not to mention the most money I ever spent on an app). Bible study is so important that I'd be so sad to lose all of what I accomplished. Overall the app itself has great functionality and a nice user interface. I'd give it 5 stars if it were kept up to date..Version: 4.9.21

It seems the mantis developer has abandoned usThis has been by far the best bible app I've ever had until the last iOS update. It began crashing every time so I reinstalled it and restored all my notes and bookmarks. However the multiple purchases I had made over the years would not restore. I tried multiple times and even deleted and reinstalled multiple times. I went to the mantis website and contacted them through their response form explaining the situation. It's been weeks and I have received no response. This app has been and can be fantastic but the lack of support is making it almost useless to me now. I hope it can be restored to what it was before and if so I will write a glowing review. But as of now I can't recommend it to anyone. (Which is a shame because I've recommended it to numerous people over the years) Please help!.Version: 4.9.21

Good but keeps crashingTried this today. Crashed 4 times in 10 minutes. I'm using an iPhone 4. Promising app but let down by its instability..Version: 4.9.3

Started off wellI like this program. It used to work very well. However it hasn’t seemed to keep up with the iOS updates from Apple. Program locks up which forces me to delete then reinstall everything. There are a few other bugs as well that I’ve reported to company. Mantis also used to be an option in the Reading Plan that I use so you’d open that plan for the day, it would list what you’re supposed to read in the Bible that day, click on the book and chapter and it would automatically open Mantis to that book and chapter. Now Mantis is not even listed in that same reading plan. The amount of resources available are great. Most of them have to be purchased of course. Overall it’s a great program that simply needs to be seriously updated..Version: 10.1.72

64 bit updateI realise you guys are working flat out on the update. Could you please fix first the need to log in every time I open the app. Three stars because old app was exactly what I needed and am hoping new version will get there soon..Version: 10.1.22

Excellent app but no supportI purchased this app years ago for my phone. I have used it almost every day. It is a really great app, and I like the Bible versions that are available. The problem is that there is absolutely no support. My iphone is now so old that it will not update to the latest versions, but I cannot transfer any of my purchases to my new iPad or a new phone, so once I go to a new phone, I will lose all the money that I have paid for added Bible versions. I have sent numerous emails to the company, but there is nobody left to respond. I used an email when I was in school, and now that email is no longer valid, but the app does not allow me to put in a new email, and there is nobody left at the company to even read emails or respond to them to assist me. it is one of the best apps out there, but I highly recommend that you never buy additional versions..Version: 10.1.72

I used to love this app.I used to love this app. I use my iPad as my Bible. I got tired of my Bible wearing out and losing all my notes, etc. So I started using Mantis. Very simple yet powerful, and completely offline, no need for internet. Things I love(d): - Inline items such as notes and Strong's. - Inline drill downs for note hyperlinks and Strong's - Strong's is only underlined, making reading easy still - Automatic hyperlinks in notes to a verse when you type it out. - Bookmarks organized by folders makes studying topics a breeze. No other Bible app provides the simplicity and effectiveness of Mantis as a study tool. No, it doesn't have audio. But that's fine w me. But with the new update, things just don't work, at all. I can't save a bookmark. The search area doesn't scroll sometimes so I can't open all the results. Opening and editing notes Inline doesn't always work. I'm literally praying they fix this app. It can be the best. Before the recent overhaul, I hadn't updated Mantis in YEARS, because there was no update lol. And I still preferred it over all other newer style apps. And I've tried them all..Version: 10.1.72

Too many bugs in new featuresThe new features which relate to Markers and Notes are too problematic to use at the moment. The main issue is once the keyboard is displayed it is very hard if not impossible to get rid of. If you make a note and return to the bible the keyboard remains in place. Keyboard generally gets in the way. In iOS Notes app you now have to swipe down to get rid of the keyboard rather than a specific keyboard key to get rid of keyboard- however this does not work in Mantis X. If after reading a bit more using half the screen you want to make a second note then you can see only “Bookmark” “Highlight” and “Note” You cannot see or get to “Copy” or “More” My suggestion is: Settings icon > Settings - scroll to bottom and select “Bottom bar off” Setting icon > Show markers off Close app and reopen This will return the app to the functionality of the previous app until these bugs are fixed..Version: 10.1.48

Needs a little work.I loved this app.....before it was updated. It has a clunky feel now. What I really am disappointed about is the search function. We used to be able to narrow our searches down to even one book of the Bible, but don't have that option yet. I hope that ability is coming....?! And that is the reason for two stars: one of my main uses of the app is the search function. Another problem is that I have had to repeatedly reload my purchased items. I have several translations downloaded but, every so often, only the KJV is loaded and I have to restore my purchases again. So, not only is the app clunky, the search function practically useless, but it doesn’t work right, either. It’s really too bad because I found this app quite useful before it was”improved.” I have now switched to Olive Tree. It wasn’t as good as Mantis before but us fat better now..Version: 10.1.65

Mantis Bible StudyKJV is free but pay up for every good translation..Version: 0

Need helpI guess I need to write a review in the hopes of getting help from the company. I purchased many books in 2010. I haven’t used Mantis for a few years as I’ve been using Olive Tree. I’m now trying to restore my purchases to my iPad. They do show up on my account on the website, but I find no info for restoring and no email or phone number to contact for help. The FAQ don’t offer an answer either. The only thing it says is to set up a new account, then log in with my old account info, which I did, and they would import to my device but there’s nothing showing to be imported. At this point, quite a bit of money has been wasted since I can’t restore my purchases..Version: 10.1.72

It was great in it's time...But you can't stand still when asking for £10+ for every version you want. There is a current glitch trying to copy and paste out verses (you have to do it twice before it works), it crashes a lot more often and it takes twice as long to load. I would have rated this five when I first got it and I don't mind paying a bit for a new interface.. the irony is the lesson in patience!.Version: 4.9.21

Disappointment!Credit should be given to Mantis for not abandoning its customers when iOS 11 proved incompatible with their original bible app. (But it also needs to be said that I spent many more dollars, collectively, on Mantis bible versions and multiple commentaries than I ever invested in any other iOS app!) Unfortunately, the newly updated product looks primitive when compared to the the beautifully efficient study bible being replaced. Plus it offers fewer display options. Finally, restoring all of my past purchases remains, as with past updates, troublesome..Version: 10.1.5

Please update this appEach time my iphone updates I notice that this app hasn't had an update since 2013. Please update the features so that I don't lose my capability to use this app. Everytime I try to save through iCloud or other external saving method, I lose information in my notes so I stopped saving a lot of things now. But this is the only app I use because other apps don't have all types of Bible versions, free or for purchase..Version: 4.9.21

DONT BUY THIS APPI bought NASB with strongs, 2 text to voice and with bible believers commentary and john macarthur commentary. I was on IOS 10 and updated to IOS 12 and now it won’t allow my purchases on this app. What a rip off I lost over humdred from these guys shady practice. If you want a bible app go with olive tree bible app don’t give these crooks money..Version: 10.1.72

Almost thereLong time Mantis user glad that materials are available again. In iPhone it’s back to being a great resource where I can flip easily between Pages and Mantis for bible study or note taking. Now that I’ve started using iPad more in these situations, Mantis would do well to take advantage of the split-screen modes available with iOS 11. Wouldn’t it be great to mimic the natural experience of having a bible open next to word processing or note-taking apps?.Version: 10.1.72

UnintuitiveThe four triangles at each corner are rather ugly and completely unintuitive. It's not obvious how to cancel an action either; somewhat annoying..Version: 0

Gerald BurchellDONT BUT IT!!! DONT DOWN LOAD IT. When I 1st got this years ago it was the best thing I could have. I could go to a restaurant and have access to an extensive library of commentary’s, Bible versions, etc. but like must companies. They don’t understand - if it’s not broken stupid, why fix it - they call themselves up dating it. They have ruined it. I cannot even change the Bible’s I need to search. Where is costumer service? It done by email or search. I have 55 addition books that purchased from them. So you can just imagine the amount I have invested in this app. And it’s a disappointment. I would rather have my money back. Don’t buy it..Version: 10.1.72

Good - suggested improvementsOverall a nice app. Can't add notes to verses - keeps closing the app, I agree the App icon is not very attractive, but the biggest thing I miss is being able to sync with Apple computer. This would make it outstanding..Version: 0

Still no iPhone 5 supportStretch the text view. It's not hard. It's been a while. Also, you *still* aren't using retina icons for very many buttons in the app. The iPhone 4 was released a good while ago..Version: 4.9.18

Used to be the bestThis ap used to be the best until recent update oct 2017 or so. Markers do not work as good as notes did. Mantis used to have unique features it’s competitors did not have. After the upgrade they have less features than their competitors. Lord willing they will implement prior features and the i will change my rating to 5stars. Many other people commented that it wasn’t broke why did they try and fix it. A complete tear down wasn’t necessary. I invested a lot of time and money into this ap and it pains me to have to switch to a competitors platform..Version: 10.1.65

Love the appOnly problem is when you share multiple verses by holding your finger on a word and highlight several verses, it doesn't prompt your keyboard to open when sharing via email. Keyboard should prompt for me to type the name of the recipient I would like to share with and also allow me to type the verses I'm sharing. This is only when you manually highlight verses to share by dragging your finger over several verses, and share via email, it needs to prompt your keyboard to open to select names in your contact list. I you fix this I would rate this app a five star.Version: 4.9.21

Last update is badI'm having problems after the last update. My page, or chapter will just go completely white. And when I try to highlight, it will highlight things I don't want higlighted and then won't let me highlight things I do want to highlight. I still have the highlighter option with tools, but it is also there when I tap on a word. Now that it has higlighted sections I don't want higlighted, it won't allow me to undo that higlight......very frustrating!!.Version: 4.9.21

No problems, Great App!UPDATE: Mantis WAS one of the finest bible study apps out there, and I have spent what I consider a lot of money on it and love it BUT the company seems to have “given up the ghost” since they no longer do updates on the app. I pray they someone will get busy and do what is necessary to make the app work with IOS 11. I can still use the app on my older devices and still think of it as being worthy of five stars, but when I think of all the money I have spent on this app it makes my heart ache. THE FOLLOWING WAS MY ORIGINAL FIVE STAR REVIEW: This bible system can do anything you can afford. I currently have five versions of the bible and five commentaries. I use the app every day. It is my greatest asset for bible study..Version: 4.9.21

Crashes when openingHave the devs given up on this?.Version: 4.9.21

VoicesI paid to download the voice option and it kept failing after several attempt. I sent an email to notify them, and this was weeks ago and got no response from anyone. I have wasted £1.49 I did not even have to purchase it because You version Bible offered it free which I have on my phone.Version: 4.9.15

Update. Still needs major improvementThis was supposed to be a big improvement but I don’t see how. The entire layout has changed to the point where it not only looks like a whole different app, it behaves like one. Bringing up side by side comparisons is more cumbersome than it used to be, bookmarking isn’t what it used to be. Well, they fixed the search problem but it’s still more complicated than it should be. I.e. for me to be able to highlight text in NASS, I have to go into settings, turn off Strong’s, exit settings, highlight my text (which is still complicated) go back into settings, turn Strong’s back on, and then exit settings. I have an idea..... bring back the old Mantis, make it iOS 11 compatible, and call it Mantis Original. Problem solved..Version: 10.1.44

CrashingWhy is Mantis crashing at startup ?.Version: 4.9.21

Two wordsFace, book.Version: 4.9.6

Major glitches on iPadsReally I would love to give this app a great review, has so much potential, but is filled with glitches. Have to literally delete this app every 5 days on the iPad mini as it just stops opening. Reinstalling my bookmarks that often isn't fun for a speaker who relies on it. Please fix.Version: 4.9.21

Not badWas pretty impressive but just crashed while in search mode. think i will have to delete entire app and reinstall..Version: 4.9.20

Good but buggy and expensiveThis is a great little app, one of the better ones. It is one of the better apps to mix commentaries with reading the bible. It has quite a few bugs, one if which is the highlighting; it often crashes and highlights the wrong thing. The bookmarks are a nightmare. Ergonomically complicated. They are saved on a server by device, so cannot be shared between iPhone and iPad, or between last iPhone and new one; you lose everything. You cannot share your bible across family members. So the NIV and a McGee commentary would cost $50 each, or $100 for you and your spouse, or $300 for a family with four kids. The same on iBooks would be NIV for the whole family $10. It would be good if, like iBooks or kindle, if a list of highlights could be displayed. Currently, they are only accessible if you know where the highlights are the the book?.Version: 4.9.15
