British Slang! New Dictionary of Urban Slangs Quiz for Positive User Reviews

Just for laughs...I really cannot believe that I read 2 reviews, saying this app is racist. Absolutely pathetic, girls! ;) Great little app, just to get a few giggles, then delete it, if you must :) Ps. I have been spangled, but never spongled :).Version: 1.0

:DI love this app, definitely worth getting! It's so fun to learn what these words mean xD.Version: 2.0

WickedI recognised all of these cause most are either northern irish slang or Scottish and I've lived in both places, all them made me Laff true slang from the fab Brits, I use most of these everyday lol wicked app funny as f@%k...!.Version: 1.0

GreatSo gonna talk for one direction now.Version: 2.0

Cool appIt's good but needs more vulgar sayings and also needs to have better definitions with how to use and when it's appropriate to use them but it's overall a good app..Version: 2.0

May not be British but definitely English slangIn England i'm from the midlands but I've lived in the north, lived in the south lived in the west and have a lot of friends in the east. I can 100% vouch that the majority of these words are English slang and are currently used. Still think it's a boring app but I guess its cos it's catered for the non English customers..Version: 1.0

It's interesting if nothing else?!There are a few miss translations, but being an Essex gent I assumed it'd be heavy on the cockney rather than slang, and it's not, which is good. It's pretty well shoved together. I knew 99% of the English words and meanings. If you're English and don't know them I'm gunna assume either regional difference or poor vocabulary. Hopefully the former in most instances. toodle-pip lads..Version: 2.0

This app is awesomeOk this app is pretty cool I had a lot of laughs over it.Version: 2.0

Factually inaccurate but funnyI am from near London and I never hear a lot of these words and the ones I do hear, they are the wrong definition. Despite all this, it’s funny to see what this app thinks the definitions are..Version: 2.4.0

I like it!I just feel very surprised how many words I don't even know in English lol it's fun to use this App!.Version: 2.2.2

The low raters...Are total spongles. Yes that's right they're on crack. I've just had a good immature chuckle scrolling through these. I'm 30 and from S London / Kent. Seriously no ambiguous ones here, all very valid! I think there was honestly only 3 I'd never heard of, shank, wasteman and yes the infamous spongle! Room for improvement would include page numbers, more additions and added descriptions where words have multiple meanings, eg bugger and b0llocks etc..Version: 1.0

Why no search capability or alphabetization?I’m an American who watches a lot of British shows on tv, and I may misunderstand the plots if I don’t have immediate access to English slang while watching the broadcasts. Thank you..Version: 2.4.0

AccurateI'm from Leeds and use all them words maybe about 4 that I don't but that's it :) made me laugh reading thru them :).Version: 1.0

HELPFULThe words I saw so far (about 50) are good words to know. Some of them I recognized from East Enders, and others from English friends' speech. Many I did not know. These are the basic kinds of words you need to know to follow a conversation among English people, without being left out on much of it because you are not hearing the words you don't know. These slang words are part of English daily life. I would change the translation of "rubbish" to "baloney" or "worthless claims or comments.".Version: 2.2.2

Funny!Watching Lost for so long I heard Charlie say so many of these words and never realizing what he referred to. I now am going to watch Lost all over again and pay attention to his lines..Version: 0

PlEASee REAdA good app, and the meanings are right. Only old London cockney people will understand this and if your from anywhere else... Well too bad. It is correct and nearly all my friends use these words. We look through and laugh about the odd few we don't know like berk lool. Watch the film 'attack the block' then get the app because it is the same jafakin and London cockney..Version: 1.0

!!!Happy with it !.Version: 2.4.0

Great! This app is great! It's made me laugh so much. I use some of the words in public and people stare at me weirdly. .Version: 2.0

It's good. And one of a kindVery humorous. And it's free!.Version: 0

Not bad!Despite the incorrect reviews, 95% of these are used in my local boozer. I would have used slightly different descriptions for about half a dozen of them too but on the whole it's pretty close. To the moaners, why download it if you think you already know every slang word in England and then slag it off for telling you some you don't know? Gaffer has always meant boss and is still used round here..Version: 1.0

Try to know more EnglishI am the beginner of studying English and hope to know local people words.Version: 2.4.0

Great :)Really made me laugh! The people that are moaning that all British people are aware of some words (and therefore they aren't slang) need to remember that Americans and other worldwide races see this app for fun too! :D.Version: 1.0

Very funny!I am gobsmacked that they haven't used at least some the words in a sentence. But I really like this, cute and interesting. Have had a lot of English GF's and brings back memories!.Version: 2.0

Funny but some are wrongThis app made me laugh loads but as a british person i can say that some of these are wrong or aren't even British. The definition of some of the words are wrong but still hilarious to see wat americans think we're saying..Version: 2.2.2

What are they complaining about?I'm not even British and living in the UK for only 15 years i can say I've heard of at least 90% of the phrases here, so I can only imagine someone else living here might not understand, either: live under a rock, in a barn, have never been to Scotland or the north, never turned on the TV, are over 45 / under 13, or are ultra-upper class. Enjoy it!.Version: 0

Love this appI downloaded it for my friend and now they speak perfect English ! Would recommend to a friend 👍.Version: 2.4.0

What are these words lolI think this app is more for British people cause it is quite funny for u to see what other people think your language is like. But of you are from a different country don't take it seriously as I would never use brown bread instead of dead haha.Version: 0

Good showWell done.Version: 1.0

Not far offI'm British and live in Yorkshire (north) most of these words are right from reading the reviews no wonder when I work down south no one can understand me only looked at a few coz it was just like looking at words that I use every day so got board. Would be ok for the yanks just come back from my holiday over there and I might have spoke Chinese..Version: 2.0

Love thisLove this app. With they where more.Version: 2.0

Ok appMost if the terms are from Yorkshire Or London so if your not from these places you won't get them(I'm from Yorkshire my self). some of the definitions are too literal and are the words are not said to mean the literal meanings..Version: 1.0

Slang bang onThere was only one word my partner and myself did not recognise in the flashcards, as a whole its a small variety of slang words compared to what we use in different regions, cockney alone is it's own language! But they were correct and if in doubt there is always urbandictionary dot com for you non believers for alt. Translations, the flashcards could go on forever if developed :-).Version: 1.0

This soooooooo coolMe and my friend love british stuff so I looked it up on the app store and got and it's soo alwsome.Version: 2.0

I eat British peopleNow when I eat British people a can finally speak their language.Version: 2.4.0

Bloody Good app!So I'm kind of an anglophobe and I really wanted to learn more British words, so this app was perfect for me. I like how it gives you any random word, although it would be nice if it had a search bar too. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the adds. The adds pop up and cover the entire screen and you have to stare at them for at least 5 seconds, it does this quite frequently. And since I am not paying $3 just to remove adds I just have to deal with them..Version: 2.2.2

InformativeI'm from Essex, and most of these are either spot on, or close. I doubt anyone buying this app got it to learn every slang word, but this would give them a vague idea of what it means. Also, I'm 14 - so I hang around with people using slang everyday. I'd say, get this app if your not from England, and you'll learn a few slang terms :).Version: 1.0

Lol!!!I found this soooo funny!!! I'm from England and me and my friends were just flicking through them cause we know what they mean it's just funny to see it written down. We were calling eachother knob-heads and stuff... Lol good times XP Some of these words arnt used any more, init mate? And I thought that grand was obvious! Xxx.Version: 0

Mostly right.Mostly right but a minger is not a filthy minded person. It's either an ugly person, or someone who has said something off-putting..Version: 1.0

Great funI'm from the U.K and live in the U.S and find this app great fun to amuse my American chums..Version: 2.0

Thumbs upIt's good know I can speak to one direction by using these words haha.Version: 2.0

Very cool App!!This app has been extremely helpful! As my favorite singer is from the UK and is sometimes hard to understand certain words he uses plus it's super fun!.Version: 2.0

What's offensive about this app?Anyone who thinks this app is offensive is a deluded numpty. Sure most of the words are not slang but it makes you smile seeing everyday words described as slang. The world is full of people who see offence when none is intended, those people ought to get a life and worry about the real problems in life and on this planet..Version: 2.2.2

Rib ticklerSo what if some of them are a little off the mark. I'd say 80% are pretty good, and it's a barrel of laughs reading through them all - and heck, it's free. Definitely worth a look, even if it's just the once..Version: 0

FunnyMost of these I used when I was younger an had forgotten all about them. Amusing for one read but gonna delete as has no use after that. Awesome for the nostalgia though ^^.Version: 1.0

Amazing new layout for 2.0Great layout, just like when i first downloaded it, so now there have been 3 different lay outs. stick with this one. Also I have heard of EVERY word that comes up. People who vote 1 star are American or Scottish. This app is very useful if you are afraid that watching too much American television is making you say things like "douche bag" which is not British. 5 Stars. if you have American friends or want to sound cool when you go to work/college download this..Version: 2.0

FunWould be great if there were sentences showing how the word should be used. Kind of like in a dictionary..Version: 2.0

I only speak queens EnglishThis really helps me, especially in Wales.Version: 2.2.2

Good fun on a road trip or while travelingThe app is very helpful and provided hours of entertainment on a recent road trip. I would read off words and we'd guess what they meant in American and Australian English. Only thing I'd suggest as an enhancement is a few sentences to put the slang into context. :).Version: 2.0

Very goodI had a good look at this and I thought it is pretty spot on! Recognized most of the words and would recommend it! Maybe some of you lot are the younger generation that haven't a clue.!?.Version: 1.0
