British Slang! New Dictionary of Urban Slangs Quiz for Negative User Reviews

Nearly useless without ability to SEARCHDid I miss something?…I tapped everywhere and could not find a search box. Forced to scroll endlessly using arrows. Absolutely cannot recommend…but bravo to the developer for finding a clever way to get a Brit fan to spend USD $2.99. Me the dummy, but you the fraudster.Version: 2.4.0

Not helpfulWell, I scrolled through a few words, screenshot the ones I liked, and then deleted the app. I thought this would be helpful in the expanse of my British vocabulary, but not so. There's no way to search for the words I want to know. Instead, they give me random words, some of which were somewhat useful, and some of which were very crude; I just don't need or care to know that junk. So, I say, I scrolled through some words until I'd had enough, screenshot the ones I liked, and then deleted the app..Version: 2.4.0

Fake App - Not a DictionaryEntertainment app proves terms in a "quiz" like interface. Totally wonky and bollocks! Can't look anything up and if you tap in just the wrong spot you get stupid pop up apps and games. Delete!.Version: 2.2.2

So bad!!I don't normally write reviews but I had to do so with this App, as it is so very very bad. This App is awful, and full of words and phrases which aren't even used by a normal British person. It's also full of words that are just the British version of an American word and vice versa.... Elevator/Lift, trunk/boot, faucet/tap etc. etc. Most British people speak quite normally unless they have a strong local dialect. Certain parts of Yorkshire and the North East of England are examples of this. And also some people in parts of London may use the odd bit of rhyming slang occasionally, but it's very few and far between. Whoever devised this App is pretty clueless when it comes to British people and how they speak..Version: 2.2.2

What a pile of tihsllubHalf if its wrong its just Americans thinking they know how we speak when really we talk just normal we don't sound really posh unless we are high class (or royal) and I think Americans should stop being so stereotypical they probably wouldn't be what they are now if it wasn't for Britain Sorry if this offends anyone in any way yet it's the truth.Version: 2.2.2

Sort of rightYer a chav int a child mate. We say some of these things but some are stuff me gran would say.Version: 2.4.0

WellI agree, it's not the greatest designed app in the world, and there are a limited number of words to read. However, they are accurate and I don't understand reviews where people are saying they've never heard of 90% of the slang featured. I wouldn't even particularly say they're old fashioned either-they're just basic (often rude) slang terms used in England. download and judge for yourself (although chances are you'll delete straight after as it is a fairly limited app).Version: 1.0

Needs a search option but otherwise greatIt's a good app for British slang but has one critical flaw. There's no search option add this and then I'll be happy.Version: 2.2.2

NoGoing to drop this. No search option. Completely useless to me. Only if you want to pay attention to the words they generate can it be helpful..Version: 2.2.2

Worst app i have seen could endanger your life!!!So many mistakes on here I really don't know where to begin. All I know is that if you 'armed' yourself with this before coming to UK you could get seriously hurt, if not at least severely mocked. I am not going list the idiotic outright mistakes let alone the double entendres but I would advise you to steer well clear of using this. It's about as useful as the Hungarian phrase book in the Monty python sketch!!! If I could give a minus star rating then I would have done so 👎😱💩.Version: 2.2.2

Much not slang, just Standard British English, the Queens English! Not only is the presentation of words random, and there doesn't seem to be a way to look up the meaning of words, much of the so called slang is standard British English, as one finds in "The" dictionary of English, the Oxford English Dictionary. Very sloppy and not worth the time, and likely to cause embarrassment to anyone who tries to use it as a language guide in the UK. Horrible!.Version: 2.2.2

AnglophileInteresting words but you cannot look up words..Version: 2.0

Bad terrible bigoted ignorantProbably the most inaccurate app ever - complete disservice to UK linguistics.Version: 2.4.0

Fairly accurateA lot of these are actually often used from where I am (west Yorkshire). So when other people are saying they are "old fashioned" terms, they are being fairly unrealistic. (I've never heard if spongle though) :P.Version: 1.0

Useless and not correctThis app does not really give the correct slag used in British speech. My boyfriend is English and only uses a handful of these words..Version: 2.2.2

Wrong understandingOk I admit a couple of these are correct but most of them are complete Bull$h!t. Im from Great Britain and never new tht "git" meant "incompetent person". If that was correct then the common phrase "you incompetent git" wouldn't make sense. I dont know who designed this app or put the definitions in but they clearly aint British and have a poor understanding of our slang.Version: 1.0

Not all accurate, but mostly alrightI'm a Brit from teesside and we use most of these terms all the time! There are about 20 words on here, and I would say that about 5 have the wrong meanings given with them and there is 1 or 2 I have never heard of....Version: 1.1

Am I missing something?Lack of a search function makes it hard to use..Version: 2.0

More specific phrases neededThere are some good phrases in here that I know and use from time to time, but, a lot of things need to be more specific. For example, one of the phrases is 'grand' which means like 'big, expensive' etc. A similar phrase 'a grand' means 'a thousand pounds'. The app gives the phrase 'grand' which means 'big, expensive' but gives the answer as being 'one thousand' which is wrong. Things like this need to be fixed and be more specific. Plus, I got the phrase 'Elastoplast' which apparently means 'bandage' ??. Who on earth knows what a 'Elastoplast' is? A bandage is a bandage. You don't exactly say to your mates 'Ay pass an Elastoplast would ya?'. Mostly because no one says that kind of thing, but if you ever were to, you'd say bandage. Also, lots of the phrases aren't British phrases. They are used by the chavs so they don't count. Fix needed asap!! This app needs major work, and must be tested using ordinary British citizens, not whatever silly testers these app makers are hiring..Version: 2.2.2

No search capabilityApparently all you can do is scroll through the list of words which are in no apparent order..Version: 2.4.0

I’m English and from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿I live in central London and you nearly ever Hear these words being said they are not common words here.Version: 2.4.0

Pile of pish I'm from  and when i say I'm stuffed it certainly doesn't mean what it says on here, it generally means I've eaten way too much.. Plus when I go and "Mong out" I'm usually doing that after a hard day at work, as in "I'm going to just Mong out on the sofa tonight I'm knackered".. The creator of this needs to do some more research.. Where's apple n pears for one???.Version: 1.0

It's ok.Not really British slang. More English slang. You could do a whole app on Scottish slang and would be more entertaining. There are a few that are wrong but I think the issue is that they include some very old fashioned slang words that your grandad might say (eg pillock!) with modern stuff.Version: 1.0

Full of inappropriate wordsShame on the creator to include adult content words when the app is intended for children 12 and over.Version: 2.4.0

Disappointing. This is set up like a lesson for school children. It lists a few words. Unfortunately, you can't write in a slang word and find out what it means. If you just want to think you're cute because you know a few words, this is great. If you travel and want to look up slang definitions, forget this app..Version: 2.2.2

British slangI agree you can’t search for words.Version: 2.4.0

Waste Of TimeThe ability to remove add is easily executed, but at no time was I told what it cost. There does not appear to be a search capability, ergo I am at the mercy of the app writer as to what I see and when. Somehow 50 slang terms doesn't cover the extent of slang terminology among the speakers of the King's/Queens language on a daily basis. Back into the gentle abyss goes this one!.Version: 2.2.2

Rubbish! This Could be a good app if you could search, And if there were many more words and phrases. I would Love to find an English to American dictionary, of sorts..Version: 2.4.0

MehHalf of the definitions were incorrect and half of the words i have never heard of and im im from manchester so as far as slang goes i speak most of it ... I think half of this is made up and the other half is guessed .... But i must admit it did crack me up at how some strange obviously not british person made this :').Version: 1.0

British slang 500Absolutely worthless. Can not search. Just look a words that scroll by. Really glad that I did not pay for this Cr...p. will not use they Apps. Even if they are free. Will also tell friends :-((((((.Version: 2.0

WrongSome of these are hilarious! But gotta say. Brown sauce is not BBQ sauce. It's hp sauce. Just an English thing. Something men eat with a bacon sarnie ( bacon sandwich) and minger means an ugly person. A British person really needs to update this. And while I'm at it, a chav definitely does not mean a child. A child is a child. A chav is someone who is rude and inconsiderate purposely to look cool in front of friends. They wear track suits and big hoop earrings (stereotype) if you call someone's child A chav, they will most likely knock you out. Apart from that its pretty funny to read.Version: 2.0

WorthlessYou can’t search for a specific word, making this app worthless for anything other than entertainment!.Version: 2.4.0

Hmm okayWell I agree with the person that says either the person who made this is not from england, or is stuck in the 70's/80's England!! What makes it worse is that half of them are wrong!! This app will waste a good few mins of your time, but oh well! Next time Blooming get it right, you moron! :).Version: 1.0

Cute & funny, could be betterI love British slang and I always wanted to know more! This app helped me and actually laugh a few times! It's overall material was so so. Repetitive..Version: 2.0

Update...baaadPlease can you retain the swipe effect this new update with arrow to change pages and question mark on the world best touch screen phone com’on seriously? You’ve killed the whole sense of it all what were you thinking, previous version 5Stars, new version 1star that because the ability to sms and email is not bad or it would have been a zero as in No star na-da.Version: 1.1

BadI found that at least half are wrong! Maybe you should update this to how they speak this century because according to people I know a lot of these are just plain outdated..Version: 2.0

PoorIf you give this more then one star something is wrong with you for one their is only like 30 not 500 as the name suggests Plus british slang most words have different meaning depending where in England you are making something like this only use full to someone who isn't going or lives in england ......Version: 1.0

RubbishI don't gave a problem with the random words popping up, but you can't look up the word you want to know the meaning to! Please fix app!!!.Version: 2.2.2

British SlangWould have been worth the money if you didn't have to turn the page one-by-one....Version: 1.3

WOW LOL so badI downloaded this app only after reading the reviews about how terrible it is and... Wow. It is so bad. I'm English myself and as a young, 19 year old from London, I can guarantee about 10% of these are right. The rest, nonsense. Bugger doesn't mean what it says it does. Maybe about 80 years ago but not today. Gaffer means dad, not whatever this app says. Someone pay me to make an app like this And I'll teach u proper English slang. Lol this is a joke. If u came to England and tried to use most of these in conversation u wud be battered (english for beaten up).Version: 1.0

This is an App?Does not use the word in a sentence, there is no way to look up a word or phrase that you hear someone say. Google does more than this app.Version: 2.0

Ok appAll of them are Scottish so that's why alot of people are not knowing them, funny if your from Scotland and if your not then could be useful if your planning a trip but the meanings are not exact so be careful, still it's free and pretty funny :).Version: 1.1

Stereotypical or WhatOut of the 100's of word I looked at on here I would only use about 5 of them. One of which was football which in its self isn't British slang as most nations in the world call it football even to the point where the governing body is called FIFA (Fédération Internationale de FOOTBALL Association). I mean can you really call it slang if the governing body is really uses the word. It's clear that the slang there is soccer as only the Americans use that term.Version: 2.2.2

Awful, terrible, crap, i could go on...Dont get this app. It was obviously made by someone who went to england and came backing thinking they knew everything about it. Half of these are never used and ive never even heard of, and the majority of them have incorrect definitions... I would give this no stars but unfortunately i cannot.Version: 1.0

5 minutes... That's it..ENDSome inaccurate "synonyms".. Overall its very useless; broken Cockney Rhyming Slang mixed with Northern 'word abbreviations'; a reet load o bollocks but worth a chuckle.Version: 2.0

Basically uselessUnless you simply want to scroll through words or phrases, this app is useless. Cannot search which is what I’d been seeking. Deleting now..Version: 2.4.0

Needs some work1) Needs ability to do a word search. 2) Needs ability to turn on/off the profanity, crude words. 3) Needs ability to show all words in a list. 4) Needs ability to show favorites in a list. 5) Needs ability to allow user to view words in random order or sequential order..Version: 2.0

Largely uselessRandom list of terms with brief definitions. Annoying pop-up ads that appear without warning. Not useful except as a time waster..Version: 2.2.2

FunnyMy whole French class was using this app on my iTouch. At least we learned new things while having fun!:).Version: 0

EeeewwId give this more  but some of this stuff is disgusting. i mean really who CARES what the british slang 4 balls is?.Version: 0

NoneCute, but frustrating that you can't perform searches and that there isn't a word of the day. Limited..Version: 2.0

TripI'm going 2 th UK soon and wanted 2 know British slang this was funny but not what I was looking 4..Version: 0

Its okThere are a LOT of old Yorkshire/Lancashire words that no one uses any more mixed with a few new words that are American or "new world" Then there's a small collection of words that are either so wrong or so old not even my gran would know them..Version: 1.0

British slangsGlad it's free, because some of them are just completely WRONG!.Version: 2.0

Fun enough and freeWould like to see more functionality - like search or list. Not all the words are accurate at the moment, but still fun to read through and be a bit silly..Version: 2.0
