✓ Forvo is amazing, but a learner should be carefulMy first language is Arabic, I’ve noticed a problem with some “category work” and “spelling small vowels -Harakat-“ and those problems could be fetal if you don’t notice. A collage could become a kidney! And vice versa, hundreds of words could be contaminated like that. Otherwise, the service is incredibly useful, it helps me with my second language -English-, also with my hobby languages (Japanese, Korean) and also with any sudden interest in how a word is pronounced in any language. Finally, about the app. I really find the design more comfortable than the website. But I have two complaint: First being an able to record my reading for a word that has been recorded. Second, I can’t report or edit a word writing wrong or easily confused between two meanings; sometimes I want to make both pronunciations and writing much clearer..Version: 3.7.3
✓ ReliableForvo is a great help; proper pronunciations are surprisingly hard to find online and, where they exist, often rely on phonetic symbols which the average reader can't decipher. Its great strength is that it provides foreign words pronounced by native speakers, so you can rely on them. Its only drawback is that its vocabulary is not yet complete, but this can only get better; the app doesn't make clear how new recordings can be contributed..Version: 1.9

✓ Great app for pronunciation of names, places etc.I'm English but have found this app great for checking pronunciation of place names in France where we holiday. French place names, like many of our place names (eg Gloucester, Greenwich etc) are not pronounced as you'd think, and to hear them spoken by a French person makes me confident to say the place rather than point at the map. I've been unsure on pronunciation of several people's names from the past (eg Gertrude Jekyll, Edwin Lutyens and many foreign painters) and it's great to hear them spoken by someone from the relevant country (and the plummy accents of the English ones, rightly or wrongly, make me think that the pronunciations are correct!) ✓ Invaluable and getting betterHaving committed to give a talk about the European borderlands I found this app invaluable to check how to pronounce names, mainly Polish. The app works very well except many words are missing and you have to check the website (where many more words are covered). However, it is easier to hear a word and have it repeated in the app, than it is on the website, so I live in hope of all the website words (at least in the chosen language) being made accessible in the app. I am now reading about the history of Bohemia and using it for Czech words. This really is a fantastic app. Instead of passing over words that you are not sure how to pronounce, you can quickly get the pronounciation and before long you find you can anticipate how they will sound pretty accurately..Version: 1.6

✓ Extremely valuable 🤓👏👏👏Being able to find actual people pronouncing words instead of computer generated voices is wonderful for learning correct pronunciation. I am studying the Russian language and there are subtleties that computer just don't get (yet). This app is still buggy and in an hour of use crashed a few times.
