ICircuit for Negative User Reviews

App houndWow , does this app ever need a lot of work it took me three hours to draw a simple bridge rectifer . Most of the time was spent trying to move components and deleting unwanted wires. What a disaster. It only crashed about 35 times in that three hours. I'm using a 64 GB iPod 4 and my 220 other apps are working just fine. Ten dollars is definately too much to pay for this app . Wait a few months before buying this app. , I'm sure it will come down in price, because right now this app is pretty much useless for any practical purpose. I don't know if I'll ever open this app again because I can do any diagram on paper with a pencil a thousand times faster than I could ever do with this app. This app is all glitter and hype and a lot of wishful thinking. Don't buy this App !! ( until it works like they promise ) I love the idea of this App but it doesn't work!.Version: 0

Doesn’t save to google drive properlyWorked on circuit homework for 8 hours and thought that clicking ‘done’ was saving my files, had the location set to google drive. Unfortunately the program wasn’t ‘saving’ anything, just a blank file. Thanks a bunch 8 hours of homework down the drain and I can’t even get a refund..Version: 1.12.2

Hall effet sensorWhy is there no hall effect sensor in this application? it is absurd! it is a system that is found everywhere today and has been for more than 20 years!.Version: 1.12.2

Crashes and not workingComplete garbage, totally waste of money, crashes on iOS 10.Version: 1.8.4

BuggyIt’s weird, when I click on the ‘+’ button to add a new circuit, it just doesn’t respond. I’ve resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling it so I can get the default circuit, so I can actually edit something and get it working..Version: 1.11.2

Good but not greatRoughy around the edges, is it worth the money?... Yes if you take it out of context of what apps should cost..Version: 1.4.7

Not what I expectedLack luster options , for The price I feel jibbed. Feels very limited compared to free options available. Good idea though..Version: 1.11.2

Waste of moneyCan’t even export circuit drawing pictures, for this quality this app should we free.Version: 1.10

Alright, but needs workThis app Is great in principle but is lacking severely when it comes to user interaction. Wire paths have a mind of their own, components are hard to place and edit and some controls are counter intuitive. Not recommended for the smaller screens of iPhones/iPods. Definitely could be a great app but it is a long way from that now and not worth the price as it stands now..Version: 1.2

Scope doesn’t work!Scope icircuit doesn’t work! EveryCircuit is better ! Don’t lost time and money.Version: 1.10

They are thieves? Don’t buy this App !!!This app does nothing. They charge you a bunch of money and give you nothing and then want to charge you more money to get more features, what did I pay $16 for?.Version: 1.12.2

BuggyToo expensive for an app that you can’t go 5 minutes without having a buggy experience..Version: 1.11.2

Ne fonctionne plusMettre beaucoup d’énergie pour préparer mes cours et faire des démos. Maintenant l’application se ferme, gelé ou tout disparaît 😩.Version: 1.9.3

BuggyVery buggy and hard to move items around. Voltage flow does not update very well. Expensive for what you get..Version: 1.4

Ripped offSo far - useless!.Version: 1.4

Great tool but has lots of bugs...Great for testing circuit designs and setting up arduino projects but this app really lets you down when trying to use the scope function and It continually crashes. Will be very happy having payed 10 buck when bugs are fixed....Version: 1.4.7

Dire need of an updateGood app, best simulator I the App Store but an update is needed for some major issues. For instance the scope crashes the app on second launch on iPhone 5 iOS7. I would gladly pay again for a polished version of this app..Version: 1.4.7

3 StarsGood app, I've had a lot of fun with it when it worked... The app can not handle a circuit which has multiple functions. If you want to make a simple on/off circuit, this app is for you... The app crashes quite often, which can really get on your nerves. A few more tweaks and update required before a fantastic app..Version: 1.3

Has potentialSome of the schematic symbols are wrong. Have emailed them highlighting this but developer doesn't respond. No updates since last year, not sure developer is still maintaining this app? Doesn't have LM317 , even though the community has requested it. It's does a good job of simulating basic circuits..Version: 1.8.4

It supports you with a link to WikipediaVery limited app, it should be free Not many components in library Confusing to use Gives you links to Wikipedia - useless I just wanted to do simple audio builds but it’s so limited I can’t even do that.Version: 1.10

Need more optionsNeed more options such as darlington transistor, rotational switch, relay (n.o./n.c.), delete button, redo, etc. Power, current inputs for specific component. Other than that this application is very useful. Very recommendable to students and electronics enthusiast..Version: 1.8.2

Good UI but buggy and limitedThe UI is great, unfortunately it has limited capabilities and is buggy. You can't add to the library. The library is limited. Useful features like initial conditions are not supported. Circuits that should solve don't..Version: 1.4.7

InaccurateInaccurate therefore not very useful. I tried something simple like shorting a capacitor and it was inaccurate..Version: 1.11.2

Great conceptually, but very slowMakes an iPhone 4 feel like a first generation IPhone. Looking forward to a revised version, at present it's a curiosity..Version: 1.2

Unusable due to UI issueI purchased this app to help with an electrical engineering circuit design class. Upon downloading and installing, I was initially impressed with the design simplicity, and unique style that this app has. I attempted to model some simple circuits, but then I found a fatal flaw. Once an element is placed and saved, and unable to undo, it is nearly impossible to delete. This is largely do to the incredibly touchy nature of the UI on iPad. The UI demands that in order to delete a circuit element, you must select it, and momentarily press the element in order for the option menu. The menu then lets you delete it. However getting this menu is nearly impossible, because if your finger moves even the most fractional amount, the interface does not recognize the press. I've found that I would try to press 10+ times on an element just to get the menu, and this is simply unnacceptable. Until they patch this problem, this app is unpractical for any application. Once they patch the issue, I will happily recant my review..Version: 1.8.2

Needs WorkThe idea is great but it's not really practical on an iPhone. Trying to select components to change their value is nigh on impossible unless you zoom right in (which is also quite difficult without selecting something by mistake). Great idea but needs a lot of improvement to make it worth buying. I also fear that the program is too processor intensive and is struggling to run well even on my up to date iPone 4. I hope you can make some improvements soon or it's one for the bin I'm afraid. Bring it out for Mac and I think it would be perfect..Version: 0

Poor quantity of components for priceIt’s alright, a bit fiddly to use but very limited on the quantity of components especially for the price.Version: 1.11.2

OhmmeterStruggling to find a way in the app to calculate the resistance across two points.Version: 1.11.2

NoIm an engineering student and I really dislike this app, there aren't enough elements, you can't flip things and it takes forever to make even small circuits. The controls are ridiculously fiddly and they infuriate me. Anyway, please fix the controls! Especially for those who dont want to spend half the day implementing some kind of circuit! A good functional and working circuit simulation software package for the iPad would be awesome! Thanks..Version: 1.1

Crashes on openingNeeds updating..Version: 1.8.4

Has issues...Nice idea, alright GUI but the simulation is pants. None of the chips seem to have a GND (Vss, 0v, whatever's you'd call it) pin, which seems illogical considering its measuring current going through the chip but how can it when there's no pin to complete the circuit?! The oscilloscope simply doesn't work. I made a circuit with a 555 timer and, in theory and in practice, it produces a 31KHz signal at 60% duty cycle; the app shows 125Hz and seemingly 50% cycle. A simple led flashing bar doesn't work either. You set up your 555 timer and counter chips and the app gets confused at which output to turn on and it all ends up as a mess! Lots of the time the voltage colours disappear completely, or for some reason it shows the negative, red, instead of the positive, green. Errors appear saying simply "Singular Matrix" which means nothing to someone without a degree in either maths or electrical engineering. LED colours seem to get stuck, even with the power off, and current is shown going the wrong way through the led. Overall a nice idea, but in practice it still needs a lot of work..Version: 1.4.7

ConfusingNice app but could do with a better guide to understand how to work the program better..Version: 1.2

Bit clumsy and insensitiveVery clever and enjoyable .. but a t times a bit fiddling.. Extending a wire, it goes all over but where I want..Why?.Version: 1.11.2

Poor touch interfaceThis app would be amazing if the touch interface worked. Zooming in and out and moving components around us a nightmare on my laptop and even worse on my iPhone. It's slightly improved when I use my mouse but still pretty crappy..Version: 1.8.2

Please add SupercapacitorsNo super-capacitors.Version: 1.11.2

Transformer is brokenTransformer voltage values aren’t constant when secondary windings are changed. Also, input current linearly increases forever. Buggy..Version: 1.11.2

Decent but not perfectI use this on an iPad mini with an Apple Pencil. The core functionality is there, but the scope is a bit buggy, sometimes requiring me to restart the app. I hope it gets fixed because for $13 app I’d hope for more consistent features..Version: 1.11.2

Exactly as the reviews saySo close to being good, but the bugs are pretty frustrating. And judging by how long reviews have said that, I doubt there are any plans to fix them. Buy it if you want a super basic tool for playing with simple circuits on the go, but don't expect miracles or bulletproof operation..Version: 1.4.7

Not so goodNeeds ALOT of work, buggy and featureless even for an electrical novice. Definitely not worth 10 dollars, c'mon guys it can't take too much work to make it happen!.Version: 1.4

Needs updateNeeds to be fixed for the latest iPhone displays.Version: 1.11.2

Brilliant as a training aidIf you want to learn about electronics, this is a good way to learn how components work. My only criticism is if you want to delete a component, the delete menu stops working after a few minutes. I'd also like the option to be able to delete a whole connection track in one step, as well as just a segment. Don't give up on developing this, it's really useful. :-).Version: 1.8.4

ImpressiveGreat concept and very clean and easy to use but is restricted unfortunately to basic logic circuits due to the lack of templates and features. I hope the developer continues to add new features and templates especially basic things such as SP relays and proximities and switch gear. The app has big potential for every day use..Version: 1.2

Too buggySimpler than spice but too many bugs to use. Hitting undo removes an hour of work and there’s no redo function. It doesn’t save. When you try to it also saves your state from an hour ago. Sometimes doesn’t react to changes in the circuit. This is unusable.Version: 1.11.2

You can’t make everything.I tried making a tesla coil but it won’t even include a torus..Version: 1.11.2

Great, until...I made a few circuits for some practical effects in a show, and as a lighting designer and master electrician it's very helpful to make them on the go, send them off, and have the practical test ready when I get in. However, in sharing a folder out, I lost everything in it on the first try. It was only a few schematics, but I have to now make them again. Trying to load the circuit file into the app didn't work, and none of the schematics I made came up as visible (just blank pages). So, while its nice to make these on the go, it's a little useless if I can't send them to anyone. I would say this would be well worth $10, if you could share the folders successfully. Otherwise, it's very useless organizationally. (Also, you can't save anything as a PDF to iCloud Drive, which is just weird)..Version: 1.8.4

Total rip offTotally waste of time App. Bugs galore and god forbid you build anything serious with it!!.Version: 1.12.2

Crash all the timeIt's a good app but hard to zooming with 2 fingers.Version: 1.4.7

Crashes on iOS10This app is mostly very good and did crash often, but now it just crashes upon launch. Please update ! Im using iPad Air 2 128Gb so not a hardware issue..Version: 1.8.4

CrashingThe new update made by icircuit crash. Developers pls fix. Thanks.Version: 1.8

Does not saveI bought this app knowing it was good to use on a Mac. I bought it now for my iPad Pro 12.9 and it has a major major issue. Majority of the time it will not save your work. Hours of work will be not saved and you can imagine how frustrating this would be. Don’t purchase until they admit it’s an issue and release the fix..Version: 1.9.1

Review avoidedI have been avoiding writing this review along time. It is the only simulator I have found on iOS. Unfortunately this program has may serious flaws. So many 6000 character can only scratch the surface. Here is a small sample of the problems. Interface: landscape panning reduces to default size. Oscilloscope spawns a second instance and neither work. Stability: gets really flaky if use fro over 2 hours and/or over 50 nets. Simulation: All devices are level 1, nor ESR, D, Q etc. Over unity regulators, micro wats in produces giga watts output. MOSFET use beta which can only be estimated from gate geometry instead of capacitance/threshold or area/media. Transients real confuse the simulator causing varying simulation stopping errors. Zener's are limited to 25v and can not be chained in most cases no dark current. Logic is 1V only. Support: To-date zero of my bug reports have received a single response, therefore I have no idea if there is any support to comment on. There many more faults but alas it is the only simulator available for iOS. For the on the move times I can not use LTSpice I am tankful for iCircuit..Version: 1.4.7

Limited functionality of the ArduinoCoding the Arduino is very limited.Version: 1.11.2

Not really what I wanted from an appDoesn’t have options that I wanted as a sparky and it drains a lot of battery. Not worth it imo..Version: 1.11.2

Great app but crashes oftenOn iPhone 4S, if you change something in the circuit then open the scope, the app usually crashes. Otherwise it's fantastic..Version: 1.4.7

Nice idea, but...Unfortunately the operation of this app is somewhat erratic. Components that seem to be connected sometimes are not. Diodes can behave as diodes some of the time, but not always. Maybe after another update or two it will be reliable enough to use, but I'm having to put it aside for a while now, having struggled for long enough with a quite simple circuit..Version: 1.2

Promising, not polishedThis application has a lot of merit but is exceedingly rough around the edges. Wires that develop crazy links when linking components, full screen meter that cannot be closed, iOS keyboard hiding fields that are being edited, odd "I wonder what these do" buttons, etc. This looks like an app poorly ported to iOS by people who don't understand basic accessibility or visual design, and could do with an overhaul by a user interaction expert. All of this being said, the general concept is great. Just not worth what it's currently being sold for..Version: 1.2

Don’t buyEverything dost work holy moly lm317 dont work.Version: 1.12.2

ICircuitWhen I 1st got into armature electronics and design, a computer package like this was beyond the stars. Early ones were in the many £k's, so given the cost this package it is a very cheap and fun intro. I'd give it 5 stars with a more complete library, and Erving a niggle (see cons below) Pro's will work on iPhone but tbh better on iPad 2/3. Easy to use and get to grips with. Will fill in boredom times or work gaps productively. Good for small circuit demo's and/or novice CAD designers. Con's Short on basic electronic devices. No DIL, SIL or header sockets Has double pole relays, which you can neatly have more springs, but seriously needs changeover option. No CMos 4000 range IC's but you do have NAND AND etc symbols, so you can get around it for some needs. Annoying popup meters, status panels showing power levels Etc, but they block the design area, it desperately needs a way to switch them off..Version: 1.4.7

UselessHalf the components don't work, a simple transistor switch won't work, an scr is non latching, waste of money, very disappointed.Version: 1.4

My CircuitsI have no access to all my circuits uploaded to cloud????.Version: 1.11.2

Many problemsThere are big glitches when using the simulator on iPhone. And it needs more customisation or user manual. The waveform simulator doesn't have any tracks to add.Version: 1.4.7

Good but could be better.Although I have a background in programming software, I could still learn a few things about hardware. I purchased this app to learn.. However, I am having a hard time doing so with ONLY examples. Maybe a description menu of each part could be added? Also, controlling and adding wires is a pain.. They never seem to follow my finger, but tries to take another path for some reason (it's not because that path is shorter from its destination, because I have plenty of examples of when it isn't). Also, a permanent menu should be added to copy, past and delete. It's too hard and time consuming the way it is right now (mainly the deleting part)... Also, perhaps you could add an editing menu to LEDs to change the color? I would like to have other colors besides red. I'm still new to this app, so maybe my complaints are only because of my lack of experience. I look forward to future updates and my rating will be higher :).Version: 1.4

BunkDo not purchase. Couldnt get an AC to DC power supply to work. Pulsing from zero with a large cap after the bridge?!... Garbage..Version: 1.7.1

Nice idea...I bought this app to test a couple of ideas and it seems that the engine is pretty good. I love the oscilliscope and voltmeter. Only complaint is that it is highly unstable. At the moment i am half way through a simple bridge rectifier, it crashed out and now I can't open the app for more than 2 sec before it crashes out again. I have also had 2 lockups requiring a reboot of the ipad before it would work again. Just upgraded to latest os and still same issues..Version: 1.1

Scope is BuggyScope function is buggy, why has the developer abandoned this app?.Version: 1.4.7

ArduinoThe Arduino does not power up. Help files don’t work. Sorry it’s rubbish spent 3 hours with this and getting absolutely no further forward..Version: 1.11.2

Too many bugsI would love to use this app, but too many bugs makes it hard. Disappointing quality for a paid application..Version: 1.11.2

Miss some componentThere is no fuse, no battery, parallel DC source not work correctly ( it give an error ) need to ad some more IC chip..Version: 1.4.7

Too many bugs - not worth itCould be understandable for a free app, but for $10? UI interaction is inconsistent, I find myself accidentally moving and deleting components all the time..Version: 1.11.2

Sounded fun, but it’s a nightmare.I really wanted to play around with a simulation, but it fights you every step of the way. The settings are barebones, the interface, drawing and deleting fight you EVERY step of the way, you can’t rotate stuff and scaling things is only in one direction, for a barebones list of components they just direct you to the wiki instead of detailing the twenty or so in-app for QoL. This would be a fun $2-5 toy to play around making basic starter boards, but I’d be laughed out of an office if I handed the spaghetti mess that comes out of this to a professional. Eh, at least it was an entertaining thirty minutes for an extreme premium. Oh yeah, and hats off to the inept technical genius who made it so pressing “undo” keeps undoing thirty minutes of stuff. This UI is a technical dumpster fire. I’m going to RTFM and give it one last shot later, but that won’t fix the lack of intuitive and intelligent design..Version: 1.11.2

HAS IMPROVED - BUT DO NOT TRUST RESULTSI purchased this App a couple of years ago, and found it lacking, so switched to EveryCircuit, and purchased the full version, then updated to an iPad pro and thought I'd give this another try. I did the same circuit in both Apps, basically a 50hz 16v bridge rectifier with 4 diodes, a 5th diode from the +ve to a pair of 4,700 uF Capacitors and 'scoped' the result .... the EveryCircuit version is perfect, Icircuit is totally wrong, just still scopes a standard sine wave .... ok on some things, but don't have enough confidence to fully trust its results. Still needs improvements .....Version: 1.10

Great appWell since this update I thought it might improve, but the amount of bugs is just so high. The fact that half the time the components act differently than they should prevents this app from being useful on even the simplest of circuits. Once those bugs are fixed though, this app will be great..Version: 1.7.1
