✓ A Social Network Type ThingIt was like a social network type thing for reading books. And I didn’t see any option to make my profile private. I cancelled the free trial. I liked the idea of being able to read anything for a monthly subscription but I didn’t want to have to do it socially and have everyone know what I am reading..Version: 6.6.1

✓ Not a good library anymoreI used to use Bookmate for several years, but cancelling my subscription now. The reason is the number of books available dropped drastically. I don’t know what the reason is. Probably they want to burst audiobooks subscriptions, at least for many books I want to read, they suggest an audio edition. ✓ Something went wrongI got a free trial of this from Vodafone and I was looking forward to trying it. I’m a massive reader and this seemed perfect for me as there were some books that I’d been wanting to read. However, as soon as I login on the app there’s a message saying something went wrong. I’m assuming they’ve received a lot of traffic from Vodafone and can’t handle it. Hope it gets sorted before my trial runs out.Version: 9.1.2

✓ Not impressed with customer service.I was excited to use my free Trial. Read a book I had been dying to read for quite some time. It wouldn’t let me stop the subscription to renew after the month without stopping my free trial so I left it alone. I finished the book I wanted to read and didn’t use the app much after that. Forgot to cancel the renewal since I hadn’t been in it, which I stated to them, and when I messaged them the SAME day that it renewed, they denied me a refund since “their rules don’t allow it.” No where in their FAQs does it say anything like that at all or anywhere else that I could see. I won’t recommend this app to anyone. Might as well just go buy the books if you’re going to get charged $10 every month and their “customer service” isn’t very customer oriented. Make sure you cancel in time otherwise they won’t do jack to help you out..Version: 6

✓ A lot of questionsWas reading book that I downloaded myself (not from the library)and suddenly got a message that I need to buy a premium to read this book. I actually have premium, so I check and it’s expired, but standard was still in place. Went back thinking that that I could read on, the book that I downloaded myself?! No they prompt me to buy premium. I got premium and canceled standard. Guess what - was billed for both standard and premium. Just opened case for refund for standard. Why I have standard and premium? Because years ago I got standard and then upgraded to premium for 4.99, had actually two items on my bill, but this year I don’t know what happened???.Version: 10.10

✓ The worst app I have ever paid forFirst, it is actually impressive how Bookmate managed to have such a poor UX and app layout, when there are so many great UX designers out there! Looks like they’re competing for ‘the worst design’ prize, and successfully so. The app is hard to navigate, creating bookmarks is a nightmare, mails to support from the app just wont work etc. etc. Second, I have a paid full premium subscription, but can’t open any books anymore. Looks like there is a disconnect between my payment and my account. After digging through (unhelpful) FAQ, reinstalling and all sort of bending backwards to make it work, I am now sitting pretty and waiting for support to help me out.... Like seriously, you can charge us after like a year or so because you have a lot of people on this app, so you would kind of receive more money, because it would charge someone every year. The way the book is intended. You only give us left alignment and justified? Also where is the default font? My requests are pretty simple really. ✓ Don’t go for it!0I thought this was free. I saw that there was a “premium” app but I did not sign up for that. It’s only when you download the app to see what the book selections Are like and how the app works, do you find out that they are going to charge you $9.99 a month. Ridiculous. ✓ Don’t bother extremely disappointing library.I’ve been looking for an option that is Netflix for books for a long time and thought this might be the one.. this is not it. Every single book or audio book I’ve tried to access has been marked “this book is unavailable at the moment” with further clarification that “our contract with the copyright owner has expired”. The majority of their best seller section is unavailable. Their book of the week is unavailable. Most of the landing page that they choose to offer up as available option are unavailable...Version: 9.1.2
