OK the wind function is working but as a sailor one is somewhat interested in the sea state, so when the wave function is non operable this app gets a downgrade to 3 stars Thought it was somewhat pricey & tried a cheaper grib app which was not outstanding. ✓ I'm giddy as a school girl, a great GRIB app finally on the iPhone.It's GREAT !!! .. . . . . . but not perfect yet. iPhone comments: (have not tried it on iPad yet) Multiple paramaters: I would like to see multiple parameters displayed simultaneously, however, the Meteogram function nearly solves that issue for me. Meteogram: Would like to be able to compress the display to get sense of the interrelation or all parameters in the total time span even at the cost of precision. Parameters: Would like to select from really available options for parameters. For example the forecast interval button take you to a screen and you select from 3,6,12, or 24 hours which is what I am familiar with from other programs. However, days and grid_spacing make you enter a number with no guide or list of real options. Awesome so far, I have been waiting for this for a long time, THANKS !!.Version: 1.1

✓ Very useful for sailorsI downloaded this AP because of it's ability to download and display wind forecasts via GRIB files. It does this very well. The interface is not necessarily that intuitive initially and could be better. For example there is a small circular reload icon down in the left corner of the graphical viewer. What is that for? Well it actually is an update button and downloads the newest grib file. It then takes you back to the previous screen showing the available grib files. You'll then click on the latest which will then return you to the graphical display screen. The process although once understood is fairly simple but seems awkward and unintuitive. Other than this minor quibble and a few others I am more than happy with the program. Thank you to the developers..Version: 1.6.5

✓ Very Good - Needs A Little WorkThe Grib maps are beautiful. My biggest disappointment is the lack of Dew Point information in the Global-Local and gribs. The Global-local display is a little awkward but the cloud data presentation is very nice. Turning off the day night display helped. I'd like an option to make the night shading more transparent. I'd also like the option to pop up more than 10 cities at a time - at least 15 in the Global-local. The grey boxes used to display the data make it cluttered. Finding a way to display the city data with a transparent background I think would be a nice improvement..Version: 1.4.7

✓ A Boater's Dream!If I didn’t already own an iPhone or an iPad, I would’ve bought one just to be able to use this app. In my opinion, the GRIB viewer is excellent ... animation, meteograms, well-labeled charts, & good in-app documentation. Ok, there are some remarks that the background maps look “jagged” at high zooms, but they’re pretty darn good, especially for coastal areas. Also for some reason, renderings look good in either portrait or landscape, but not both. Given the quality of this app, it’s likely this will be addressed soon. Big deal. The power of this app is its ability to download GRIB files, display them in the most helpful manner possible, and manage the database of the files. I learned after purchasing this app that it downloads GRIB file directly from the servers (such as Saildocs) ... No more email subscriptions, laptop setups or extraneous communication hardware! All that’s needed is a wifi or cellular connection from an iThingy. Want an updated forecast the night before a passage? Or during a passage? Just press the “Download” button while in wifi or cell range. This app also obsoletes the distasteful cottage industry of GRIB file “resellers,” who ask for subscriptions or account registrations to re-package publicly-available forecasts. So long! In my opinion, the marriage of GRIB files, and iPhone or iPad, and Weathertrack have just made coastal passages safer and more enjoyable. Great work!.Version: 1.2

✓ Great weather forecast at low cost. Recommended.WeatherTrack is a great app to select and display the weather gribs and make your own informed decision for planning, whether it be farming, sailing or a party next week. TV, Internet etc tend to only go 3 to 4 days ahead, but weathertrack can give you an accurate 7 day forecast, and a "rough" 14 day forecast, but be aware computer models can change, and are constantly updated. Wind, rain, cloud cover are all displayed in an easy to visualise format, and the meteogram is excellent to see all parameters simultaneously. See low pressure systems coming b4 weather beaureau start talking about them. For sailors, subscribe to grib robot to get email gribs, and tide-tech integration is great. Customer support from the Weathertrack team is excellent, immediate response to any problems you may have. Definitely recommended..Version: 1.6.14

I use it everyday I'm on our boat. I never leave the dock without checking it. ✓ When you need reliable accurate weather dataThis program/app is just brilliant and more than just a weather forecaster. If you have friends and family like I do in cyclone prone countries where massive deaths have occurred you'll never ever be satisfied with any weather app unless it has built in early warning systems so that you can warn your loved ones of approaching danger. During cyclone season in any country, you can download a grib file of a specific area and then study the details of the wind speed and pressure to see if cyclone conditions are developing just like a meteorologist! Being able to do this gives me more peace of mind than just getting a rain or sun forecast and I now can rest assured that if my family are in danger I will have a good idea ahead of time and able to warn them. We lost about 7 relatives in the Myanmar Cyclone Nargus because the people were not warned. Our family house was partially destroyed so we want to be alerted next time and with Weathertrack I can always have my finger on the pulse and let them know of any danger approaching..Version: 1.4.5

✓ Professional userI am a meteorologist serving in the armed forces. I forecast below 5000 ft for search and rescue Sea King helicopters in Scotland, UK. Having purchased this some time ago for emergency use I was astounded to find how good this application actually was after opening it up earlier today. It's simple to design your own forecast area maps and download my essential data sets from various models. I would like to see a Polar Stereographic map projection under chart options- Mercator projection condenses too much above 55 degrees north- failing that you have a very impressive and functional forecasting tool. ✓ A superb piece of kit.This is a seriously good app. I have found it really pretty accurate on the important stuff, rain, wind direction and speed. Does what it says on the tin. Very easy to use. I've just got back from 3 weeks sailing in the Balearics during which this app never let me down. The files are quite small and cheap to download so I downloaded a new file every morning. One does, of course, have to factor in the local winds, sea breezes and katabatic winds but one has to do that anyway. It predicted the only serious blow with total accuracy. As always, WeatherTrack is the most dependable weather forecasting tool I know - I have been using it for years. In terms of accuracy of wind speed I have found you need to add on 25-35% to equate to the wind speed shown on the yacht's wind indicator: so for example, old dark green (<25 knots) would be translated as <35 knots on the windex. This offset has been a consistent one, and should not be taken as alarmist, but, like all instrumentation, calibration is needed. I salute WeatherTrack..Version: 1.6.4

✓ A must for passage planningThis app was recommended to me by a Cruising World editor and has since been my most used app when weather routing for sailing passages. I also bought the in app purchase routing - it's very basic but gets the job done. You can vary your departure time and predicted speed to see what the GRIBs look like for a given time on your trip. It would be nice to be able to plug in different speeds for each leg, but that's not available at this time. The in app purchase for Tidetech was not useful to me as it only pulls 1 GRIB each 24 hours. I also had a bad URL error at first when I got the Tidetech plugin - Weathertrack help got back to me almost immediately and Tidetech fixed the problem within a day. Having the gribs downloaded to the phone for reference offshore is a wonderful feature. I have not exported them to be read by my charting program but plan to do so soon. ✓ Absolute best overall weather appWeathertrack is simply the best! not your typical weather app interface, you have to learn to use this guy properly- but once you do, the benefits are huge. i live on a very remote island in the bahamas- it's very difficult to get accurate weather data for this location, even though several apps claim to provide it. but weathertrack always delivers the goods- let's face it, when you're talking about weather, no forecast can be correct in every detail: but this app has a great track record in terms of letting us know, within reason, what to expect weather-wise. for example, if weathertrack indicates that we're going to have high winds from the south tomorrow, we've come to know that the app can be trusted- and accordingly (since our shore faces south), we pull our boat out of the water and thereby avoid trouble and anxiety. and it's important to note that on important stuff like that, the app's always been right: it have may have indicated 30 mph winds and the actuality may be 25 mph- but so what? weathertrack let me know what was going to happen and allowed me to prepare accordingly! and, btw, the app also provides a page with links to all the major weather sites. what more could you ask? wonderful, wonderful app!.Version: 1.6.5

✓ A touch expensive, but well worth itI've been seeking a good grib viewer for mac/iPad for a while and this one is excellent! I tried igrib but it only crashes for me, so not worth it, whereas weather track is basic yet very intuitive and highly informative. As a professional sailor this app is a must have!.Version: 1.3
✓ Transatlantic EssentialTook this me across the Atlantic this time last year in ARC2014 and it proved an essential bit of kit. The ability to tailor the GRIB downloads (in terms of map size and data included) means we were able to get fantastic detailed charts mid-Atlantic via email over the satellite phone (I used the MailaSail email service for this; the files open straight out of your email program into WeatherTrack) . ✓ Best marine weatherWe have been using this app for the last few years whilst travelling on our boat. ✓ UpgradeLove the app, it's great and has been a big help as we've been sailing across the Pacific. My only complaint is that with the latest upgrade (which added sat imagery which is nice) you run into the "edge of the world" instead of having a continuous loop. Probably not an issue for many, but when you are getting ready to leave New Zealand for Fiji and want the weather all around, you now have to put the lat/long coordinates in by hand to get it to work. Not cool, especially since they don't get saved. Any fix on the horizon guys? Otherwise I absolutely love and recommend it..Version: 1.6.1
