Used to be 5 Stars Until ...I have used this app for a long time. I spent £4.99 to buy the premium version of this app before they started updating the app. I ended up being charged twice, which is another story which I have written to the developers. Today, I opened the app, as I usually do, to see that I have ads all over. I checked the status of my subscription and guess what - I’m no longer a premium member because now I have to pay again - and this time much more than £4.99 - or £9.98 in my case. What is going on? It’s getting to the point where I don’t want to use this app anymore but I’m so used to it that’s the only reason I am sticking to it - can I have my premium back with no ads?.Version: 6.2.5

PoorApp is crowded and awkward to use. But the biggest issue is I cannot see any way to repeat a transaction.. For something like I dono.. Salary. Without this feature any "finance app" is totally useless.Version: 4.3.4

No SyncI been using various versions of this program for years. In the last month I’ve noticed sync issues between the apps on my iPad and iPhone. The app sometimes won’t let you delete an entry; it just syncs and shows up again. Also, the versions on my iPad and iPhone aren’t syncing. Great little appLike the interface. Very intuitive. Great that I can now sync between phone and iPad. Only feature missing is that budgets don't seem to roll over. I can't find this on settings. Now the app is useless. Tried to get it going on my new iPad and in the process of syncing, signing in and out, have lost all the income transactions over the last 18 months. Can’t seem to find any way of recovering them. It is bizarre as all the expense transactions are still there and accurate - but of course all the balances are wrong and the app is no use any more as a budget tool. Latest update deleted everything.Latest update along with the past two ‘bug fix’ updates have completely ruined the app. It deleted all my incomes and shifted my expenses to wrong dates and keeps deleting newly input data. DO NOT use this app.Version: 6.3.3

Password flawThe app gives you one chance at a password, you type in your email address and a password at what looks like a sign in page, you push the sign up button and then your account is made. If you happened to mess up on your password though, there is no second chance at typing it again to make sure you have your password correct. Once I was in the app there was no easy way there to change the password. I signed out in hopes for a forgotten password link on the sign in page, unfortunately I have pressed said link a number of times and have still not received a email to reset my password. Cannot create a new account because my email is locked in with the other account..Version: 6.2.4

Good app but super annoying ads!I paid for the premium version as I liked the interface of the app. However a year ago, there are more and more ads popping up, and they are super irritating because they appear just when I would be entering a new transaction. Every time you leave and re enter the app, ads appear, and some of these ads are like 30-60 seconds long. When you’re on the go trying to log in a purchase right after, you’re stuck waiting for the ad to finish. It is shocking to get these ads given that I’ve already paid for the app!.Version: 6.6

Sync IssuesDespite loving this app I am having sync issues across devices. Everything the provider has recommended is in place; consistent version numbers, access to network, same account loaded etc but it still won’t sync across the devices. It did, then it just stopped with no apparent trigger. I’ll have to go with a different app if this doesn’t resolve. Annoying!.Version: 6.4.6

Some annoying bugsI give this a 3 due to the bugs. It has every feature I need. I can’t find any other app where I can easily track tips in cash and regular income from our jobs. Every other app is unable to easily allow you to create a cash account and transfer between accounts. My main issue is when I make a change and then close the app, when I come back the change returned. For example I’d delete a transaction or remove an unnecessary category. When I return to the app, whatever I deleted is back so my balances are off. Honestly defeats the purpose of the app. I also have trouble syncing between the iPad and iPhone apps. I can’t explain how bad that is. It never syncs basically. Or when it does sync correctly it takes a day maybe. My 3 rating is probably too generous. 5 stars if these bugs weren’t present..Version: 6.2.6

Budgeting doesn’t workI have used the app for years and was really happy with it, but since a while any updates I am trying to make to the budget functions don’t really show up. There are duplicates of categories which I cannot delete and in fact can’t make any changes to the budget categories. This is one of the most basic functions of expense app which simple does work anymore.Version: 6.4.7

Don’t useOur data keeps getting changed, at the last update this has happened AGAIN! For example transactions for an old credit card which is now closed (so ended at £0.00) now has a balance, some payments were changed to transfers and there must have been other changes too as even changing those back has not got us back to £0.00 Extremely frustrating that this keeps happening, and their tech support has not been able to help us in the past either..Version: 6.1.2

Fantastic for budgeting but the ads!!!..I have been using this app for a couple of years now and find it works pretty well for my purpose of managing household budgets. Every now and then it might glitch where I find my account balances are out and it’s difficult to work out how far back the glitch occurred. Recently however, the ads are getting out of control where two ads will pop up each time I use the app. It’s really frustrating especially when you are flicking between bank accounts and this app and you’re forever clicking out ads. Beware of NEW UPDATES!!!Been using the app for over 5 years now. Usually I love it as it’s clear and very easy to use and I enjoy its simplicity. However always nervous whenever there’s a new update as it tends to completely negate your history and throws accounts into disarray - it re-adds all transactions you’ve deleted in the past. Which you then have to go through to correct and adjust. Fine for accounts you rarely use/recently opened, annoying fir your every day account you’ve been managing on app for a long time. Also wish app allowed you to hold accounts in different currencies simultaneously. I used to be a firm advocate of this app, but I’m not sure if I would recommend this app to anyone anymore, updates shouldn’t be scary and take you 100steps back..Version: 6.4.2

Bad new designThe new user interface is distracting distracted and uncomfortable especially the top color which changes following the transaction’s category so a different transaction will have a different color.. this is NOT an user friendly event! Need ability to set budget timeframe yourselfThis would be so much better if you could set the budget timeframe yourself. The app comes with a set timeframe of per month for the budget - I.e April, May etc, but I like to budget on a fortnightly basis due to my pay timeframe. If you were able to set this I would definitely use this app - it is so much better and more usable than the others around, but that is a major downfall I think..Version: 4.4

Good luck updating to iphone 12After restoring my iPhone 6 backup to my new iPhone 12 I cannot get into this app. All of my other apps are still working fine. This app challenges for a password (if you had one or remember it) or allows you to sign on without a password. The big catch- they will send you an email with a link to regain access. It lists my correct email, but no matter how many times you request an email link - and the app confirms it was sent....... it never shows up in my email. And yes... I checked my promotions and junk email folders as well as my inbox. There goes 6+ years of transaction history for me..Version: 6.4.2

Got really rubbish through the yearsI’ve been using this app for as long as time can tell. It was cheap before, and I got the lifetime membership. However, even the slightest calculation is getting dumber. For some reason some transactions doesn’t sync which results in inaccuracy and mess up your budget entirely. I have on iPad and iPhone, they suppose to sync but for some reason some bills are unpaid in my iPad and my iPhone is updated. Weird to see I have £20k of unpaid bills. This is insane. Almost too buggy to useI really regret paying for the pro version a few months back. I love the premise of this app; in theory it’s simple to set up and use, and I like that it doesn’t have to be linked to a bank account or credit card. UnreliableThis app isn’t reliable. I just got this app a couple weeks ago, and paid for a month of premium to try all the feature. From the beginning, the sync showed signs of bugs by not syncing deleted transactions across devices, but would sync entry transactions very quickly. However, in the last few days, syncing has stopped working altogether. My phone shows it was last synced 2 days ago, and my wife’s hasn’t synced since yesterday. Deleting a transaction in general doesn’t work. Syncing aside, a deleted transaction keeps reappearing. I had to work around it by just using the entry for a new transaction and update the payee, date and amount. I found another bug with the budget categories. For some reason, a couple categories disappeared when trying to split a transaction between categories. If not splitting, I can select the categories, but as soon as I go to split, I don’t see a couple of them as options. What’s more weird is it doesn’t happen on my wife’s phone, and it originally worked fine on mine. The UI is super clean and well designed, and conceptually, a nice app. BUT, if you can’t rely on simple things like being able to delete a transaction and sync between devices, it’s useless. I hope the developer, who I’ve reached out to, but haven’t heard from, gets this worked out, but unfortunately I have to move on and find something better. Love it, but...This App is fabulous. The only thing I would love to see a change to is when paying a bill. I use this app to track all of my credit card debt and bills. I wish you wouldn’t make it a requirement to choose a “from” account when paying a bill. I am more or less using this app as a tracker more than a literal Checkbook. I’ve got all of my Credit cards listed with the amount owed under accounts to give me a grand total for how much debt I currently have, and all of my bills listed. When I am required to put a from account, I have to put a fake account just to pay the bill. Which throws off my debt totals. You have to do everything manuallyI was under the impression I could sync my multiple accounts to this app and that it analyzed your accounts for savings it doesn’t do any of that - as far as I’m aware you can add multiple accounts like the ad shows- Were it shows Account on my app it just allows for manual transactions to be applied. I can’t find any where on that app that allows you to add or sync accounts from your banks. you’ll have to enter every transaction manually- I’m not sure who this would be good for but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone that wants to sync their accounts for ease and clarity. Love the app and what it provides - sync is absolutely shockingI had hoped that this would be of use to track spend on my phone whilst out and about and then make use of this information on my iPad and laptop, and in theory that should be the case. However I made the mistake of entering some regular monthly transactions on my laptop. Big mistake. At that point sync failed and I now have info in three different places and none of them talk to each other. A lot of work ahead to get the information in one place and then delete the app and reload and hope sync works to get them all working together again. Very disappointed. Unless you have everything backed up.I loved (emphasis on past tense) this app, using the free version for a few years, it did everything I was looking for to track my finances. A while back I was going to update it but read some comments that accounts were disappearing after updating. It was working fine so I thought why risk it? Not long ago my iPhone had to be reset so all my apps were deleted then reloaded, which meant my Pocket Expense was now updated. I opened the app, it asked me to sign in, I entered my info … and it didn’t work. And there is no account to be found under my email address. Sure enough, my account disappeared and with it a few years worth of meticulous daily record keeping. Beyond frustrating. (Foolish me for not having back up records) I contacted their customer support more than once … NEVER heard from them. Absolutely. Useless. I gave as high as 2 stars (vs just 1) because when it was working, I really did like it..Version: 6.5

Great but...Love this up, it does everything logically and well but... the syncing between devices continues to let it down. Good App But - Update 3-1-19Still no contact from developer on issue. I just went ahead and deleted the buggy app. Update 2-6-19* Had a couple of issues with after a expense entry it didn’t subtract the correct amount. I did email developer but have never heard anything back. The app does what it said it does. Once you get familiar with it it okay. The only down side is there is not bill reminder section that you can check off when you pay a bill. It has a bill section but not a bill you can check off when you pay you bill. The one this one has adds your bill to your day it's due and subtracts it from your app account even if you paid it early. Now it has taken it out two times and your balance is now off from your online account. I did send them a email asking if they were going to add a bill check off section and they quickly replied "no" and did state the have no intensions on doing it..Version: 6.2.6

I kept using it (despite multiple crashes and losses of what was supposed to be automatically-synced data) because it was an uncomplicated budget app — color-coded, no difficult math involved, easy-to-read charts, etc. However, I'm at the point where even the simplicity of its tracking system isn’t worth it anymore. I’ve contacted customer service for help at least three times with no response. DO NOT USE THIS APPIf you log every expense & income transaction do yourself a favor and DO NOT use this app. First of all this app has way too many ads (in the free version), such as right when you open it you’re forced to watch an ad. And they’ve even added a banner ad in between the calendar and your transactions. But worse than that is the fact that this app deletes your data!! It doesn’t matter if you back up your phone either. There’s no way to transfer information back into the app. This app deleted ALL of 2018, so I decided I’d just manually put it back in (took 13 hours) just to find a couple of weeks later this app has deleted data again!!! Good luck getting the developers to respond as that takes SEVERAL emails, there’s no customer support number or chat, and once they finally respond they tell you that there’s nothing they can do. FYI Apple won’t be able to help with the data loss either since “it’s how the app developer makes the app”. This app shouldn’t even be allowed in the app store with how glitchy it is. So do yourself a huge favor and use a different app where hours of data doesn’t just disappear and you can actually get in contact with good customer service agents..Version: 6.2.5

Great! But...Something off with categories. I deleted their defaults to put in my own and the next day they came back. Then when I when I went to delete their default categories again, any category named the same that I created got removed together. Also if I try to add sub-categories, it gives me an error saying “that category already exists”. I’ve used previous app versions of this app and this is the first one that has this category issue, but at least they resolved the syncing issue found in all previous versions. It’s almost perfect, but please fix categories! I have entries missing now because I was trying to delete the defaults and I have no confidence if those default categories will just pop back up on their own... also I paid for premium lifetime so again surprised to see this kind of bugginess on such a major feature..Version: 6.4.2

Can’t Delete TransactionsOnce you have added a transaction, it’s impossible to delete. My account balances are always wrong because it keep re-adding deleted transactions to my overall balance without telling me. I’ve paid for the pro version and been a long time user and there appears to be no fix. DO NOT GIVE THESE SCAMMERS YOUR MONEY.Version: 6.2.6

Latest update a disasterApp was ok up to now and the new version looks very nice. However the “cleared balance” is completely wrong. An account that had a few hundred pounds now shows over £3000. Even setting up a new account fails to record cleared balance correctly. Impossible to find a contact for support so I’ve used the feedback button in the app, but no response after a week..Version: 6.3.3

Want to loveI really want to love this app but it keeps changing and having problems that it has become a nuisance to use. It is constantly having issues syncing between mine and my husband’s phones, so much so that he finally deleted the app because it was so unreliable. In my opinion, the fact that you can’t choose which screen you want to be your auto screen is frustrating to have to press multiple buttons to get to the screen you need quickly. The most recent “bug fixes” have actually made things worse. Every time I add, edit, or look at a transaction, it scrolls back to the top, losing the place of what I was looking for so I have to spend a ton of time scrolling and searching. I’m disappointed that I paid for the premium version of this app and it has been so unreliable..Version: 6.3.4

Underwhelmed by the latest updateThe latest update has changed the way net worth and cash flow work. Previously I could with net worth see how much money I had left at the end of the month over the past year. Similarly the cash flow option would give you a graph with incomings and outgoings on the same screen which was really useful for seeing how months compared and if you were living within your means. Now the two graphs are separate and comparison isn’t possible. The update has removed the two things I used regularly to track my spending please reinstate..Version: 6.1.1

AverageWould be good to set own budget frames, and I can't work out how to delete mistakes/remove budgets so either this function doesn't exist, or its not very user friendly to work out how to do it.Version: 4.4

The iPad was not syncing correctly with the iPhone app event though I have auto sync enable. I tried manually syncing and it did not work so I sign out in hopes to restore from the last saved cloud file and now neither of my devices has access to the app. It is now stating my account does not EXIST!!! Keeping trackUpdate: having trouble syncing to a new device. Takes forever, times out, and then no expenses are on the new device. I sent a help email too, but this is really annoying. I started using this app almost 2 years ago. I didn’t really know where I was spending my money. With the knowledge I had I was able to understand the possibilities of what I could and couldn’t buy and where I could cut. With this info I could clearly talk to my accountant and my bank and I saw that I was able to buy an apartment... in Paris. I’m still using this app after knowing. After buying. After renovation. I still want to know. And when I travel it is fun to see my savings. When I travel with friends they can clearly pay me back what they owe and I can pay them. It’s a great monitor. But I’m switching to another app because I couldn’t transfer everything to my new phone. Very disappointing. This was my best friend. Now we have to break up..Version: 6.2.6

Used to LoveThis app has been excellent until the “live sync” feature was added, as that has created a multitude of problems! May have to find a new app if they don’t get the kinks worked out and the app working flawlessly as it was before the updates.Version: 6.3.4

Good if you never want to update itUpdating / downgrading my rating. This app does just what I want it to do until an update comes along. Twice now, after an update, my data is all messed up. The first time around I ended up with a bunch of “overdue” bills (that weren’t actually overdue) and weren’t reflected in the account from which they were paid. This time, probably 15 transactions are missing between accounts- however, the ending balance WITH the transactions is reflected in one of the accounts. Essentially impossible to fix it you’re concerned with accurate data. This is probably due to some kind of sync issue, but ideally I don’t really have to think about that..Version: 6.3.3

Do not get unless you want all your data lostI had been using this app for 2 years when I upgraded my phone, after logging in to the app on my new phone, I found all my data for the whole year lost! Nice UI, shady business modelRe-downloaded the app since it recently got updated. I had stopped using this app when version 5 came out and required a login. That’s when it deleted 2 years worth of my financial tracking data, and I gave up on customer support. I saw the new update and decided to give it another a try. The UI is very clean, but not very intuitive. Adding an account is harder than it should be. The “default account” can’t be deleted. You cannot create subcategories like before. I feel as though this version traded user friendliness of the previous version for a neat looking UI. Not too impressed. On another note, I purchased the “Pro” version on the pre updated version from an in app purchase long ago, and there is no way to restore it on this version. The developers never responded to my email and I refused to pay for it again in the App Store. On top of that, all of the hundreds of reviews for all the previous versions were deleted, leaving only recent reviews. If this doesn’t seem shady, I don’t know what is. Has great features, but has gone downhill but customer support is an absolute joke..Version: 6.1.1

Great app but no supportI have been using pocket expense for more than 5years and have been depenedent on it since. Last November, I have changed/upgraded my phone and have been getting difficulty to retrieve my 5++years transactional data. I have been trying contact their support but to no avail. Hard to say...Really like the app but am nervous now using it after I lost all my income data. A problem that seems to have happened to many. Now I have to enter data in many locations to keep a backup which takes away from using the app. Turn Off Auto Back Up if you don’t want to lose data. Had my account not auto saved I would have recovered the income data. App developer said they were looking into it but haven’t heard from them since the issue occurred..Version: 6.1.3

Latest Update is Broken.Latest updates contains more bugs than it fixes. Bug 1: When app is opened via multitasking tray on iOS, screen gets stuck on Calendar view. No other button presses can exit this screen other than closing the app and killing it from multitasking. Bug 2: When entering a transaction, the screen does not refresh to show this transaction unless you go back to a previous screen and then come back again. Not sure why the Devs keep mucking about with this app - it was fine months ago but now is broken..Version: 6.3.4

Bug fix may be neededGreat app. Started using after my iReconcile app was no longer being updated and became incompatible with my phone. I would like for it to show the reconciled balance to make reconciling quicker when on the go. Also noticed in the last couple month that there have been glitches. I had to delete the app and redone load a couple times because it was duplicating transactions causing serious issues when trying to reconcile and establish my exact balance. Now the new glitch is that I can’t get it to open some days without rebooting my phone which doesn’t always fix it. I select the app and it’ll act like it is going to open but then disappear. It’ll show in the background but again when selected it flashes and disappears. I can’t seem to find a support option to report the problem so my hope is that this review is seen and problem it corrected. I did pay for the year subscription so I would like to continue to use this app..Version: 6.2.6

Good but still issue syncing with iPadI’ve been using Pocket Expense (on my phone) for years but just recently decided to install on my ipad as I don’t want to keep reaching for my phone when I’m at home. It reflects same username/password but when attempting to sync between the two (mostly to sync transactions documented on my phone app to my ipad is not working and has not work since I installed the app on my ipad 1.5 months ago. Please get this corrected. Why have a feature to sync between apps but it doesn’t work. To add, there was some change because as of now, all the account I’ve created have either been deleted, zero’d out or amounts have simply been changed. Lastly, the app on my ipad and iphone is not reflected I’ve purchased the premium. I have to do “restore purchases” every time I reopen app. Seems all these issues started once I purchased the premium (unlimited plan) Therefore until issues are fixed I’m giving this app 1 star...smh (Yes I’d sent an email as well. No reply as of uet).Version: 6.2.5

FrustratedI enjoy the app but can’t get it to sync to my other device. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and it still won’t sync. I would be 100% happy with it if it would sync.
