Decibel X:dB Sound Level Meter for Positive User Reviews

Quick and easyThe app does what it says, and will spit out a CSV so you can manipulate the data. One small problem mar an otherwise great app. You can't break up the CSV into chunks which can make sending larger logs out (email) impossible..Version: 3.7.0

AntmanVery handy and easy to use. Not sure how accurate though? Could do with less notices.Version: 4.3.5

Great Utility with many usesI have found many used for this app. In the workshop i have found it an indispensable tool for measuring improvements in trying to make equipment less noisy..Version: 9.4.0

Great little toolI do some roadie work with my mates very loud Rock band and use this app to monitor sound levels in areas where noise control could be an issue, very accurate and very handy little tool..Version: 4.3.5

Very Good, With One Quibble...I’ve used a couple sound meter apps over the last few years along with a commercial quality sound level meter. I would put this up there with the best of what I’ve used. This review is for the purchased, “pro” version of the software. That I can pay $4.99 and use the processing capabilities of my iPhone in leu of spending $150+ on a professional, stand-alone meter blows my mind. The level of detail shown in the various portions of the screen offer a broad range of information to the user. You get both numerical and graph output as well as dial analog output of minimum and maximum readings, duration, etc. One quibble is that when I pause the meter and reset it, it asks if I really want to, which is okay, but immediately restarts the sound reading, even if I don’t want it to. Also, I’d like for a reset to take the meter back to “0”. It restarts at the prior average. I would like to see these twin issues corrected, and I’d then give the app 5 stars..Version: 6.1.0

Excellent appWorks fine seems quite accurate.Version: 8.1.1

ExcellentWe live in a nice place, but have highway sound issues. So I contemplated buying an expensive sound meter to analyze the situation, but found that Decibel X on my iPad Pro does the job just as well or better. I gladly bought the full version. There are three things I’d like to see, the first easy, the other I am not sure are possible: 1) Add db labels to the Y axis in playbacks 2) Might it be possible to switch between db weightings in playback? 3) Might it be possible to display a curve that shows the AVERAGE of all db samplings of a recording at each Hertz range, with adjustable sampling intervals?.Version: 8.2.4

Decent but needs somethingNeeds to be able to listen to my stereo in my car playing Bluetooth music so I can test how loud the car is. 👌.Version: 9.6.0

Software subscriptions are nonsenseWouldn’t it be great to be able to purchase something one time and own it? The software industry has responded to this question with a resounding collective “NO!” screamed at the top of their lungs. This app is fine. Reasonably accurate for a quick reference during a concert or in a restaurant. However, the incessant reminders of feature paywall is enough to spur me to write this complaint. This is exacerbated by the gargantuan $5 per MONTH price of “membership”. Never before in history have craftspeople required their customers to pay them in perpetuity to continue using the thing they made. This trend needs to go the way of the dodo. I would happily pay a one time fee for any product..Version: 9.5.0

Love itGreat app to give you an idea of how loud sounds are, just need to set the calibration right to your iPad. For me it was standard speech at 2mtrs should be 50-55 db..Version: 1.1.0

Excellent appWork effectively.Version: 9.6.2

Does what it says !!!Does exactly what you’d expect easy to use and for free you can’t complaint lots of free features you get to use I'm amazed that this isn't a full priced app 5* from me.Version: 9.6.2

BrilliantHelped me gain information on barking dogs to send to my local council. Only wish I'd found this app sooner!!.Version: 6.5.1

Potentially profitable new application,If I have a really good idea forThis app, will you pay me a royalty of 5% of the gross amount received for the app?.Version: 8.2.8

What a great and effective appGreat interface, useful functions and unobtrusive banner ad. Nice blend of form and function..Version: 6.3.1

Great work 😃📢This is good for telling how loud things are. I use this to tell how loud car engines are.🚘.Version: 3.8.2

So easy to useIt has simply great ui has a video mode which shows you the decibels in a video of what your doing. Not very many ads..Version: 9.7.0

A bit pushy on SubscriptionLove the interface. It keeps max and average over time. However, the cost of $50/year is not worth it. I’m not sure there is a profitable market for this product in the perpetual fee space. But, I would not mind paying a one time fee of $10 for the basic features. I don’t use something like this but once or twice a year..Version: 9.7.0

Great for Sunday morning sound levelsI am always using this app on Sunday mornings when I’m running my church sound board. It’s a simple and effective decibel meter that allows me to check the overall sound volume during practice. I trust my ears and memory to get the volume level consistent, but using Decible X means even when I’m a little congested or off, the sound level will still be spot on. I don’t use it enough to pay for the app but I find it very useful. I’ve even used it to spot check volume levels at other events to test out how loud the sound really is. The kids also enjoy seeing how loud they can scream from time to time. 5 stars through and through..Version: 9.6.0

DB MeterThis app found its way on my phone 4 years ago and although it wasn’t the best performing app at the time, I didn’t replace it. It worked adequately for my needs. Today November 2019, the dB Meter is quite improved and I can recommend it to all who have a need for such a device. Basically, a dB phone meter is at the mercy of it’s ability to interact with the mic on the phone. IMO, the makers of this app have sorted this issue. I’m on an iPhone 8 currently..Version: 9.5.0

I’m impressedGood app that can quickly & simply do what you want..Version: 9.7.0

Great for learningI used this application with geography students in a field work activity. The kids and I enjoyed it. Easy to use and very clear..Version: 3.5.0

Funny how the phone distorts audio when recorded lToday, I measured the sound of my school fire alarm, and it was really funny. I put my phone’s microphone directly next to the microphone, and it recorded a whopping 129 dB! After doing that I saved it as data, and when I listened to it, the output was really loud! Instead of making it sound like a fire alarm, it sounded like static! Decibel X is not only so useful, but it’s also funny! You should use this app to not only measure sound, but make and record funny sounds with this! I would really appreciate to use this for a long time!.Version: 9.6.2

Cool AppI enjoy using this app. Very interesting and informative. Well done, guys!.Version: 3.6.1

Useful AppHave been using this for over twelve months and now leave my official bs meter at home. Great accuracy and easy to use..Version: 5.2.1

Everyone Should Have It!Having a decimal meter on your phone is so important in today’s very loud world if you want to protect your hearing. The high levels of sound in exercise classes, gyms, movie theaters, restaurants, sporting events, concerts can all be extremely damaging to hearing, even with very brief exposure. With this app you can check your environment instantly and know whether you should protect yourself with earplugs or remove yourself entirely. It’s excellent and I highly recommend it. It works great!.Version: 8.1.3

ColinThe decibel meter seems pretty good, sensitive and accurate as best as I can judge, very easy to read with a 3 minute memory as well as average and maximum levels..Version: 6.4.0

Agreed. Many different applications! From loud to soft music, but especially...WARNINGS to wear protection, be it a basketball game (just attended & needed protection) or a rock concert or perhaps classical music. I have not explored the entire application, as it was initially used to evaluate some decent speakers (one was in need of repair). I should have used it at the “arena ”, as ears are still ringing! (Bad from a doc’s point of view.) Thanks for a good +++++ app that we just need to use more!!! Thanks!.Version: 7.0.0

Apple WatchI have found out that it doesn’t work on Apple Watch which is a disappointment but apart from that it is amazing even without the upgrade.Version: 9.6.2

Useful appDoes what it says. UI is good also..Version: 9.6.2

Works wellThe app is a great guide to be able to demonstrate to those hard at hearing so to speak that hearing protection is needed in certain work situations. The only challenge was wind inti the phone microphone othwise a great app.Version: 9.6.2

Nice app! This app is very nicely done. Looks and works really good. Every update brings something new which is cool. Keep it that way and don’t mess it up..Version: 6.2.1

Mr 👂It's close enough by1.0.great if you got an idea of the noise around you.a blessing if you don't,save your ears with this app.Version: 6.0.0

Self explanatory appI only needed to measure the decibels of extreme noise generated by some endless works being carried out next door which was driving me insane. I wanted to have something tangible to show when I was confronted with the usual mantra: "Well, we all have different perception of noise" I am not an expert, but I found this app clear, intuitive and self explanatory. It perfectly fulfilled my basic requirements. The report spoke by itself when I show it to builders with an average of 100db over a one hour period with two peaks of 108db and 114db respectively, enough to cause damage to the ear drum. The noise stopped..Version: 5.3.3

Good app but started crashingI really like this app but it recently started crashing on startup. Maybe it is clashing with my Evoke Hearing aid app?? Restarts of phone and shutting everything down doesn’t help. Please fix! When working, I use this app regularly..Version: 8.0.1

Avion qui décolleC’est super.Version: 9.7.0

Excellent AppThis is an example of an app which turns your smartphone into a specifically powerful tool. It appears to work extremely well and has all sorts of functions which add even more utility. I’ll keep on using this for my work in streaming live events. The only thing I would add would be a db scale to the y axis of the recorded sessions as its impossible to tell exactly what level it’s at..Version: 9.6.1

Very useful as a quick OSH tool.Good when around machinery..Version: 4.0.1

Good appI like it but the ads are kinda annoying. They have to make their money somehow..Version: 5.4.1

Best decibel meterI have used a lot of free decibel metres in the past and this is by far the best. It updates fast and has a lot of other features!.Version: 5.4.1

Useful and frequent updatesI have used the paid app for several years in restaurants and music venues to help control my exposure to harmful sound. The app is easy to use and informative. The app is frequently updated with features and themes. Version 7 cleaned up and enlarged everything with large fonts. I haven’t used the camera feature..Version: 7.0.0

Awareness of loud soundsI was not aware how important my hearing was to me till my daughter, whom is a doctor brought to my attention about my hearing. she mentioned to me I don’t seem to be hearing so well. It dawned on me that at work. I work with a lot of loud machine (I’m a cook). I proceeded to looked up a free Doppler to help me judge sounds around me. It’s important to me that I keep my hearing about me, well into my 90’s., if I live that long. I carry w/ me now at all times ear plugs for my safety! Thank goodness for the free Doppler device!.Version: 6.1.0

Decibel x = simple sound level meterDoes a good job on average conditions, but beware of the frequency limitations of the iPad or iPhone mic’s that make readings of sound seem low for conditions that have a lot of low frequency content. An external mic can help some, in particular out of doors as the external mic can have a wind screen. Still for the price Decibel X is a useful indicator, even if not precise..Version: 6.3.1

Easy to useI found it's quite accurate to what I can hear. At lease the changes in the sounds. I didn't have an idea what the dbs would be previously..Version: 6.4.0

ExcellentThe app is easy to use and understand. Comparing it to the decibel meter I have from Radio Shack they are very close. It’s like comparing one temp thermometer to another, the usually don’t match but one degree or very close is good enough and that was the same when holding the two decibel meters side by side. Spend the $1.99 and get rid of those ads. I consider this decibel meter accurate (or in the ballpark) and dependable..Version: 6.1.0

Very goodAmazing app I now know sound is vibrations very nice and sound can not travel through a vacum.Version: 9.5.0

New version works on XS MAXDeveloper responded to notify me that the new version works on the XS MAX. Glad to say it does. Unfortunately, the one time I needed it in months and months, was before it was fixed. Oh well, it’s a great utility though and nicely laid out. I can’t stand the ad header though. Holding back Pro features is fine, but I detest “ad removal” ransom on any app. This is mainly because it’s a distraction from the UX and, hopeful, thoughtful design that developers have poured into their apps...only to have them butchered by some ugly banner flying over part of their work..Version: 6.5.0

Its Great !Wish the reporting was better but I guess I’ll use excel, somehow..Version: 8.2.7

ClearAnd intuitive.Version: 9.7.0

PressureI was trying to find the reason my pressure had increased. It’s the noise level that decibels was able to capture that can not be seen but can affect the human hearing and blood pressure. Now I have some data to share with my doctor that may be the cause of my pressure increase and I can share with ATT to get the white noise coming into my home cancelled..Version: 9.7.0

DecibelxSo easy to use and apparently very accurate.Version: 9.3.3

Good free appThis is a good decibel meter. I've used it quite a lot. The only annoying thing was the "tips" covered the sound reading until I worked out how to turn them off in preferences. Otherwise all good..Version: 5.1.2

Very helpful to monitor the yelling in our house !Very helpful to monitor the yelling in our house !.Version: 8.1.3

Paid twice.I upgraded my paid version to 6.6. It is now displaying advertisements and asking me to pay again. It is annoying. I had to pay AUD 7.99 yo install the PRO version to continue working. Disappointing..Version: 6.6.1

InterestingTried many different sounds checks my wife was right up there with kettle. 😮only kidding love her to bits and your apps great. 👍.Version: 8.2.7

Wow!Just started using this but I’m impressed already. I look forward to continuing to use this app..Version: 9.7.0

Very coolCool app. I wouldn’t mind paying to remove ad option tho...... 👍.Version: 6.1.0

Does what it saysDoes what it says, works as advertised.Version: 6.1.0

Works; hard to see where to bypass subscription screenUpdate: based on the developer's feedback, I re-downloaded the app. Turns out that you can skip the subscription, by clicking the light-gray "x" in the top right corner. It's a slightly hostile UI though, would be better with a big "no thanks" button, or at least a much more easily visible option to not subscribe (even for the trial subscription for a few days) Original review: This app is not free, and not remotely worth a recurring subscription.Version: 9.3.3

Does exactly what I need it toThis app does what I want it too and I believe that it is accurate enough for what I use it for, people say the ads are annoying but I havent even noticed them, I mean it’s a free app, of course you will get the occasional ad, it supports the devs to continue work on the app adding new features and ensuring its bug free..Version: 6.0.1

The most entertaining app out thereIt's awful because it makes kids quiet, it's about as fun as watching a dog get dipped into tar. We should have more apps like this out there👌🏾.Version: 6.1.0

Great app. Sneakily misleading.I love this app and use this with my music students every so often. I opened it yesterday for the first time in a while and after it had been upgraded, only to be confronted with an ‘upgrade to premium’ pop up. It looked to be the only option to use the app with nothing to say that you can use it without premium. I only realised that I could use it without the upgrade today. I very nearly deleted it. Love the app. Sneakily misleading..Version: 9.0.0

Like it!This app is cool and fun!.Version: 1.1.0

Really Nice; How About This. This is a great tool for audio enthusiast and semi pro apps.. very useful. How about this developer... what if you had a filter for the audio enthusiast that instead of showing air plane, riveter, streets noise, etc, it showed whispering, quiet conversation, normal conversation, public speaking, quiet church music, typical church music, loud church music, Jazz, Orchestra, Country Music Concert, Rap Music, Rock Concert. Each of these have associated typical levels such as... 60~67 Quiet Conversation 67~70 Normal Conversation 70~72 Public Speaking 82~92 Quiet Church Music 92~95 Typical Church Music 95~102 Loud Church Music 115~125 Rock Concert Etc... you get the idea These are all subject to I individual styles and preferences but the ideas is to get close, some type of base line for people who really have no idea what they’re doing but they knobs anyway (and you know who you are). This is very common in church music and small clubs where speakers mics are either so soft people lose interest or so loud it’s annoying. Or when the band is so soft it ruins the mood or so loud it’s dangerous to your ears. Many churches have no idea what is appropriate sound levels or what is borderline dangerous. I think this might be very helpful..Version: 6.1.0

Simple and it worksInstalled and worked straight away.Version: 6.2.0

Really handy wee appI like it - just for background bird noise in bush work and checking my car stereo isn't too loud!.Version: 4.3.5

Decibel xWorks really well and gives lots of information. Well done ..Version: 9.3.0

Pleasantly surprised at c weightingI didn’t expect this to have the ability to change weighting, I’m super happy it does. I design and build subwoofer enclosures on the side and have wanted the ability to have a baseline for each design. While I doubt this stacks up to even the SPLlab Mini, it’s at least a way to gauge the difference between designs. The mini box I just got done building for a single Kicker Comp SVC metered at 122..Version: 9.3.3

Useful spot monitoring... I knew it sounded good when I spotted this appJust what I wanted for surveying ambient noise. Basic features are adequate. I like this tool..Version: 7.0.0

Mr Roger HopkinsA very quick, responsive and simple unit to operate..Version: 5.3.3

So useful!I have a child with sensory issues and every time the music has been to loud at a restaurant or too booming at the cinema I have been able to use this app, record the sound levels, and show it to the staff along my request for the volume to be turned down. My request has never been rejected and most times the staff members come back to me to check, on my app, how much things have improved and correct further if needed..Version: 6.4.0

DB meter for pro useI am a full-time professional audio engineer. I have run sound for a virtual who’s who in rock ‘n’ roll R&B, blues, funk, Motown, bluegrass, and for the most part country. I am currently working for a band that are Sony recording artist. The decibel meter does exactly what it should and does it well. I have paid many times this price for DB meters in the past that We’re just as accurate but nowhere near as convenient. This one is always at arms length when I need it … i’ve been using it for a year or so and I am submitting this review just to let you guys know how convenient, easy and accurate this app is to use. JTJ.Version: 6.1.0

ExcellentAccurate and easy to use.Version: 3.8.1

Pleasantly surprisedI have a hand held sound pressure level (spl) meter, which I pull batteries out of between each use as it could be months in between uses. I’ve shared with flight attendants, construction workers, etc when the issue of noise in work environment came up. They were quite surprised something so capable of providing real time information was available. One suggestion I have is to identify what weighting scales, A, B and C are each utilized. Perhaps provide explanation of all and access to one within basic service. Want option to use/change among others and that might be offered through a higher tier (chargeable) offering. Might be interesting to know the frequency range (cycles) as well..Version: 9.6.2

Nice app glad it’s fixed.Press “Restore Purchases” every time I want to use an app that I paid for, or agree to a subscription??? Just annoying. But it looks to be fixed now. So that’s good. Accuracy seems reasonable, and I actually like the unweighted option. Also helpful to confirm that my kid is super loud and my stereo isn’t, which validates my position in a long standing family debate..Version: 7.0.0

Best SupportingI love it.Version: 9.6.2

I no see xWhen you go in Max view u no C X. If I could see X in Max view I will give this a five star rating but since there no X I see in Max view I’m giving it a four-star rating for now. Pls fix, also please respond developers it really helps out to respond..Version: 9.5.0

Decibel XFound it very easy to set up and to record , the auto save every three minutes is useful too in my particular case where I may be making adjustments during sound recording and I found it to be pretty accurate too ..Version: 9.4.0

Outstanding App!I use this to monitor our church services during praise and worship. It has been very helpful in determining hot spots in our sanctuary as well as tune or room with correct speaker arrangement. This them allowed us to eliminate or greatly reduce the hot spots in our sanctuary. A more consistent sound level prevents the desire to just pump music at a higher level. Higher decibels doesn't improve sound it just makes the problem worse. I would suggest this app for anyone needing a highly accurate decibel meter..Version: 7.0.0

Possible added feature?!I’m a private investigator and needing this app specifically to record noise within a neighborhood to measure the levels from various residents, as my client is being unfairly targeted for noise ordinance violations. Love the video feature; however, is there a possibility of also having GPS coordinates stamped within photos/vids as well? That would be VERY helpful in our industry, to prove noise levels at various specific locations within neighborhoods and public areas. As of now, this is a great app for PIs, just unable to prove specific location where photo/vid was taken..Version: 9.5.0

ExcellentThis is a marvelous app. I could elaborate but it's free so just check it out..Version: 9.6.1

Helpful - Ads hurt the experienceOn an iPhone 5s, I could see the decibel description (I.e. Quiet whisper, Normal Conversation etc). But on the iPhone 8 Plus, the ads obstructs this. I tried removing this, but the ribbon still remains. Can this be fixed, that is, remove or reposition the advert?.Version: 7.0.0

Works greatThe app works great. But I can do without the pop up asking me to upgrade every time I open it. I understand that is how you make your money. But I am not going to pay $4.99 a month for something I only us once in a while. We need the option to select that the pop up not appear again..Version: 9.4.0

This app is good and saved my sanityI had a high-pitched ringing noise in my daughters room that was related to some sort of electrical interference, so quiet you could confuse it for tinnitus, and this app was able to not only confirm I wasn’t crazy by clearly showing it as a spike on the audio waveform, but also was sensitive enough that I could pinpoint the location of the cause behind the wall to within a foot. Probably also good for sound engineers 😂.Version: 9.2.1

Great appVery handy app in work and pleasure situations. Seems to be accurate and very repeatable. Thanks, much appreciated..Version: 3.8.2

ExcellentWe needed a sound level meter to measure some barely audible mechanical sounds in an aircraft cockpit. This app worked perfectly. We then used it to measure extremely high sound levels to test passive sound attenuation of various combat helicopter flight helmets. Again the app provided extremely accurate and therefore useful data. Excellent piece of software. Highly recommended..Version: 5.4.1

Great appEasy to use and understand, accurate and super useful.Version: 6.1.0

Plubicité,Des fois j’ouvre l’application et il y a une page décibel x plus ou quelque chose de ce genre.Version: 9.7.0

That’s a perfect app. With one terrible limitationThe app cannot be bought. It is only subscription-based. I would 100% move away form the free version if it was made available as a permanent buy..Version: 9.7.0

Very easy, handy to have. This app is a very convenient, and useful tool.Version: 6.0.0

Decibel 10thHandy to check sound safety levels, as well as hearing senitivity..Version: 3.6.1

BrilliantI can’t stop using it...another great thing about this app...tilt your device into landscape mode, watch the constant alternating sound wave mimic, and you’ll be asleep in no time..Version: 6.1.0

Decibel meter supremeGreat free app with features!.Version: 5.2.0

Good basic SLMWorks but had to put -8dB calibration adjust on my iPhone SE when calibrating against a class 1 SLM..Version: 4.3.5

Amp saverI was never impressed with my Denon 5.1 sound. I ran the auto set up multiple times with the small microphone in different viewing areas. After reading an article, I used this app, along with physical distances of each speaker to the viewer. Wow, day and night. Much better surround sound. My understanding is to bring all speakers to an equal level by adjusting the individual dbl of each speaker on the amp, using this app to measure the output. I had to lower the front to match the rear, however you can increase the volume once you are done balancing your system..Version: 9.4.0

Good applicationInnovative.Version: 3.6.1

Good Idea, one suggestionThis is a good app, does exactly what its supposed to. It ranks the decibels in what space you would hear them at, for example a quiet whisper or home, a subway, food blender, or even rocket launch. I would recommend this app even though I don’t use very much at all.(No pressing need to know the decibels I’m hearing ever) My one suggestion is to add facts about our hearing, like when a human would lose their hearing or hear ringing. It has the threshold of hearing labels on the chart, but more facts like that would be nice..Version: 6.5.1

It’s Not Just FunG’day, this is a pretty little ‘application’. A pleasure to play with and it is as serious as you want to get. I like it..Version: 8.2.4

Pitch perfect.I got this to record noise nuisance. Then I had a play with the app. It's turned out to be a really useful tool. Even tuning the tone of my M/C exhaust. 5 stars from me. Great suff..Version: 6.5.1

GreatGreat little app will most likely pay for ya he pro version.Version: 6.1.0

Great app!!The free version is likely the best app of its kind, and highly recommended. The only strike against it is that the premium version is subscription based, and a fairly expensive one at $4.99 per month. I suspect that for most casual users, this is far too expensive…I certainly wouldn’t pay that. I can understand subscriptions for something like a newspaper or periodical magazine, where content is changing, but not for something that provides an essentially fixed functionality. This kind of app is particularly suitable to one time purchase of premium functionality. SUGGESTION TO DEVELOPERS Create a reasonably priced onetime purchase option If you keep a subscription, reduce the cost considerably. You may be surprised how many more paid users you’d have, if you do this..Version: 9.5.0

Decibel Meter AppGreat little unit works well for an initial assessment & indication. Doubt it would be certified to stand up in court. Happy to be wrong on that score..Version: 6.1.0

Great but disconnectedI can’t help but give Decibel X a five star rating. But the truth is it’s a dead end. There is zero documentation for the software (except for the hints provided on screen which are helpful but insufficient). The support tab doesn’t load anything, and there is no connection with any community of users to enable people to develop skills in acoustics using the software. Sadly, it is also impossible to contact the developers. Fortunately, there is a great alternative which has none of these limitations. So I’m switching over to it now..Version: 9.2.1

Decibel metreAn easy application to use and very informative. It would be even more useful if it were able to measure the output of earphones plugged into the IPAD at the same time as the decibel app was being used..Version: 3.6.2

Good appSeems to work well, good UI free version is worth the try for sure!.Version: 9.7.0

Must have for band membersI play drums in bands and always wondered how much noise we were making, Rock is loud! :) Now I know !! But it’s also good for the subtle stuff. How loud are the neighbors’ parties, bird song, car engines. Really love the descriptions that pop up in the app too, quiet street, normal conversation etc..Version: 6.5.1

Speech therapyI am undergoing speech therapy to make me talk LOUDER and this fabulous app allows me to see how I am going. Amazing what humans can do with some ones and zeros..Version: 9.5.0

Works greatDoes what it needs to do and doesn’t push premium as aggressively as most apps.Version: 9.6.0

Excellent app, easy to useThere's nothing much to say about this, other than it's the best sound level meter app for iOS...it's very easy to use, the design is great, and it seems to be very accurate. Great for home, office, or out in the field - keep an ear on your work environment to make sure it's not too loud, because that can seriously damage your hearing long-term..Version: 6.2.3

Great appWell put together.Version: 3.6.1

App rotation on iPhone 11pro maxI notice that on the new iPhone 11pro max the app does not rotate as it did on my previous iPhone 6! When I use the ap the iPhone mike is facing my chest which I feel muffles the sound hitting the mike. I would like to see the app be rotatable so I can have the iPhone mike facing into clear space while having the app right side up. It would be so nice if you could make that change? Regards, Ian.Version: 8.0.3

AwesomeEasy and likely to use..Version: 9.7.0

DécibelPresque aussi bien g’un appareil professionnel merci.Version: 9.6.2

Handy decibel appI use this app to find out the noisy levels in my investment properties. And works well. I can upload wav and pdf files as proof for the contractors to rectify the faults..Version: 9.4.0

Very goodResults close to $20,000 professional unit. Care required in any windy conditions..Version: 4.3.0

Very UsefulSimple to use and easy to understand. Also very useful. So far it has helped me to balance my home studio speakers; and ascertain how loud the noise was in the restaurant when having lunch. I recommend spending the few dollars for the 'pro' version-it's great value..Version: 5.3.3

ExcellentWow, easy to use, quick to access A+ and thanx.Version: 3.6.2

A good sound decibel measuring appThis sound app is sensitive to echo the normal range sound source. But it seemed not to be able to detect ultra low frequency between 1Hz to 10Hz and also seemed not sensitive to high frequency range between 15KHz to 22KHz. Especial cannot detect those weak or strong harmful sound energy such as infrasound or high-frequency high energy sound energy. If this app can build warning alarm sound inside the app and respond to those harmful sound energy, it will be great..Version: 9.3.3

Screen does not fit ipadNot tried the app's sound capabilities yet but the app does not sit within the confines of the ipad screen making it difficult to use as text etc is missing when it runs off the side of the screen. Update: the screen size issue is only on start up as an intro vaguel explains the app. When I returned to the app a second time it goes straight to metering mode and this does fit within the screen dinensions correctly..Version: 9.7.0

Not impressed with Pro versionGood app, does what it is designed to do. Upgraded to Pro, still get ads. Not impressed, don’t get sucked into the upgrade..Version: 6.2.1

Amazingly help fullIt’s surprising how often this comes in handy.Version: 9.5.0

Dose what I need and moreI am a Environmental Health Practitioner this is handy to have as a sound meter in your pocket to decide if you need to install a sound meter in a noise complaint it would be interesting to know how accurate this is compared with the big expensive meters used for noise nuisance complaint investigations.Version: 8.0.4

Footwear manufacturersWhen I was 16 I was in the Canadian artillery and as a result I wear hearing aids. Now I have a shoemaking workshop with employees who I don’t want to have wearing hearing aids when they’re my age. Whenever I see them on a machine I suspect might be too loud, it simply open this app and text it. Over 90 and on go the ear defenders!.Version: 6.1.0

Great for older folksBeing of an older age but thinking like someone younger, this app allows me to understand why I get so annoyed in most restaurants, movie theaters, and other public places. I will now carry ear plugs and put them on at a particular sound level. Maybe this will help with my getting annoyed. Maybe cold restaurants and other places is your next app..Version: 6.1.0

Needs more functionsVery Handy Tool, it needs a basic tutorial, once each section is learned it doesn’t return until you switch back on in the settings. Also the data is only saved as time stamp, needs regional time stamp too, i actually got it for that reason, but soon realized it’s not present..Version: 6.1.0

Wrong model for this appThis is a very useful app on an intermittent basis- I’d be happy to pay for more features, but not necessarily on a monthly basis for an app that I’d use only a few times a year- but the free version is great..Version: 8.0.4

Good appWorks well and looks good. Best of the free dB meters around..Version: 3.6.1

UsefulEasy to use with lots of extras..Version: 9.7.0

Good but annoying ad barWould give it 5* but the stupid ad bar at the top of the display is a total nuisance and is still there with ad blockers..Version: 8.2.0

Very useful. Some configuration required however. As above..Version: 4.0.1

ReviewBrilliant app, absolutely amazing how much information this app gives you, so useful for finding pesky high pitch sounds and analysing frequency’s, great app, very easy to navigate around.Version: 9.3.0

Fantastic appThe sound measure is excellent and in real time. Brilliantly designed..Version: 9.6.2

Just what I needI am hard of hearing and am keen to avoid places where noise is likely to cause further hearing loss. I used this app very often but since updating to version 11 for iPhone all I got were meaningless squiggles. I wrote a review to this effect and quickly received a reply telling me how to effect a temporary fix whilst waiting for an updated version. The app is now working properly again and I cannot thank the developers enough for both the app and the service they provide. Brilliant! I am so pleased that I have paid to have adverts removed and to export data..Version: 5.4.1

Used More Often Than I EpectedDeveloper just one request! Can you extend the frequency analyzer down to 30 or maybe even 20hz? I know that may mess up the scaling but maybe even just as an “infrasound” or “low frequency” option. This app is great. I haven’t had a chance to compare it to a professional meter yet but in my experience it’s been a consistent and reliable tool that I’ve found myself reaching for more and more. For example did you know that enough time on the Tube could be causing you hearing damage? Or if you’re ever at a gig or bar do you wonder just how much sound you’re exposed to?.Version: 9.3.3

Loving the app for my newbornApp helps us judge music venues/ construction sites and home sound levels to be just right for our newborn. Anything over 80 decibels and we know to move further away to protect her little ears..Version: 7.0.0

Really goodI really like this app it’s really helpful coz I always struggle with sound sensory.. so knowing the decibels helps me pin point what I can handle.Version: 8.1.3

Excellent for home useThis is a very useful and simple app to be able to identify spl and frequency analysis of neighbours dog bark, motorcycle without silencers, identify source of constant air conditioning harmonic whirring between approximately 12-20 kHz generally above my old age hearing but not feeling and general noise measuring around the home. I have now started to use this as my default spl meter because of the additional information provided by the frequency analysis graph. Calibration is difficult without a known spl source but I calibrate in the quiet evening against the noise of the refrigerator at about 34 dB. I know that a “quiet” fridge compressor is about 34 decibels. I recommend this app for general home use and if accurate calibration can be carried out then it can be used for more professional applications..Version: 9.7.0

Thumbs upGreat convenient App to check workplace noise levels.Version: 9.4.0

Very good app.I bought this as I was curious to find out what one of my wife’s sneezes could clock up. 127db! No wonder they hurt. The radiators in the living room act as a kind of plate reverb that carries on for about seven seconds..Version: 6.2.1

DI love this app.Version: 9.6.2

It has everything you would want and more!I have only had this app for less than a day and I really like it. It has many features like recording an average or keeping a list of recordings that even purpose built noise meter devices often lack. I’d rate it six stars if I could..Version: 9.2.1

Decibel well worth havingI've only had my iPhone for a few weeks and have used this free app at least twice a week. I'm using it now.Version: 3.6.0

Great appGreat app and all, but there is a small bug that after clicking “always allow” on live feedback, it sometimes won’t show on the opening screen. Other than that, I can use this to prove that my younger sister is turning her volume up after told to keep it down or turn it down and not turn it back up. Thank you..Version: 9.6.1

ExcellentI had a issue with an upgrade and it was fixed very quickly. App works very well. The ability to photograph the sound source with an overlay of the sound measurement etc is perfect for my use..Version: 5.3.1

Saves our earsI often check the areas on site where my operatives work. It’s my responsibility to ensure they are safe at work. Also useful at home. The children always say. ( no it’s not loud dad ). I have to protect them as well..Version: 9.3.0

Sound meterI have used this app alongside professional sound meters and have found it to be very accurate and extremely close to the readings from my expensive store bought meter..Version: 6.5.1

Works really well and has a decent amount of featuresFor the light or free version I’m really happy with this app does everything it says it will plus more than I imagined it could and it seems very accurate. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone..Version: 9.5.0

It works wellGreat work. thank you. i am using it to check noise level of my crypto mining computer..Version: 6.1.0

It’s geniusWas going to buy a machine to do this, particularly for the sound levels in my car. This week is absolutely perfect mate.Version: 9.6.2

It is a simple, yet useful tool. Our use the app to quantify the complaint “it’s too noisy”. It allows me to put a number on how noisy a thing is so that I can compare it to how it sounds after I fix the noise, or to the sound of my normal speaking voice. The graphic display is useful for showing someone how loud it is, or isn’t. The best way to improve this app would be not to have pop up ads, that is an unreasonable expectation on a free app!.Version: 7.0.0

Very goodDoes job well, presents it well, I only use free version so it’s probably better when u pay but still really good.Version: 9.6.2

Very accurateI was required to lower my decibel on my motorcycle and it was suggested I pay a certifier $250. I used this app as my guide with my exhaust modification. It was accurate & passed 🤗👍.Version: 9.6.2

The best app of its kind - AccurateI’m a senior acoustic engineer and use this app non-professionally. I’ve found it accurate to within 0.3 dB on my iPhone SE! Very cool being able to take photos to store SPL next to scene. Potential improvements: You could also include a ‘time to exposure damage’ as rough guide to encourage more hearing protection use. Include a real time FFT, all in one app. Allow recordings to be stored along side photos for reference. Make it a full dual channel measurement system ;).Version: 6.3.0

Great Tool to Protect HearingYou open it up and immediately see a meter registering sound level. Easy to read and understand with noise level comparisons to common, familiar everyday noises. You may not know what 75db or 100db means but you certainly understand how conversation levels compare to a lawnmower! Great app to quickly check noise levels for your own protection or even professional use..Version: 9.6.1

Good but unclear on whether subscriptionFirst time I opened the app it offered me a free trial - this made it look like a subscription only app. Opening it later it worked in free mode, with ads. Works very well.Version: 7.0.0

Like app. Change pricingI am a stereo guy so I use this for my listening volume. I use it often but not a lot of the super advanced features. Because I use it I feel it is right to pay for it but not on a subscription basis. Can there be a one time price option for us less than premium people?.Version: 9.4.0

Awesome applicationVery awesome application very easy to use although still crashes especially after videoing the ability to flip it while videoing would be cool too.Version: 8.2.0

Ok appWhatsApp it’s okay for me and that’s what is written on the box but sometimes I feel that it is a little bit approximative and cannot compare it to another reading meter.Version: 7.0.0

Great appI’ve been using this app for a long time and find it’s great for when I’m in music venues and now with a new model I’m able to enjoy the latest version..Version: 9.4.0
