✓ A most relaxing appEver since I picked this up, I can’t stop sculpting. When taking breaks from ZBrush, I sit with it on my iPad mini and sculpt away. ✓ The best 3D sculpting app in Appstore/iOSAs context, I’ve done 3D professionally for almost 20 years, on numerous platforms/software. Forger has all the needed features (e.g. Subdivisions, Remeshing, Apple Pencil support) to allow you to start working on your model on the go and then export it as on .obj to your favorite desktop package if you need further detailing or polish. Calling it Zbrush feels like exaggeration, but Sculptris isn’t far off - and this is a compliment. Smart set of well functioning tools, intuitive UI and good performance. ✓ It’s easy to sculpt with the pencilHonestly I wasn’t expecting the app to be so great. This is first time in my life when I was sculpting in 3D, I spent about 1,5 hours to create a nose I wanted and almost finished with face shape (thanks for the face template). It might sound a lot of time, but it’s actually very fast, compare to the computer and I had no experience. Super smooth app, all instruments on the side, I customized them a little bit and was ready to go. I wish the app will have an option to paint my work after I’ll finish, to make face look more realistic, maybe it does, but I didn’t found it. ✓ Mobile zbrushI was looking for a long time to find a mobile sculpting app for iOS that was comparable to Sculptris or zbrush....now, obviously this is no zbrush, but it is the close seat I've ever seen on a mobile device! You can subdivide 6 or 7 times, add new spheres to give yourself more "clay" to work with, and switch between many brushes. This is an amazing app and easily blows 123d Sculpt out of the water. I'm using an iPad Pro and have never had trouble with lag in this new version, it is honestly more enjoyable to sculpt in my iPad with forger than it is on my desktop with Sculptris. If you're looking for a fairly serious 3D sculpting experience on you iPad, this is the app you want!.Version: 1.5.4

✓ New update ruined itIt’s a very difficult app to use for starters. I used it for modeling horses. Once I got the hang of it, it became fairly easy to make models. There were glitches and problems, but nothing too bad. However the new update destroyed my ability to use the move, sizing, and rotating tool. Previously the tools had not been problematic until the editors deleted the tools and put them into one extremely broken tool. Thus making any of these ability’s completely useless..Version: 1.6.22
✓ AmazingThis is such a nice sculpting experience. It’s intuitive and surprisingly powerful for iOS. Great export options, and it’s just plain fun to use. It’s not got the featureset of ZBrush but who would expect that at £3?! On my iphoneX it runs amazingly well. There is a weird bug where after setting tool parameters the model snaps into a different angle, but it’s clearly being developed with love and I’m sure that’ll be fixed. I guess the surprising amount of negative reviews are from people who don’t know what they’re doing or expected zero learning curve, or perhaps have older hardware on which it may not run so well..Version: 1.6.18

Selecting an axis in the drop down mirrors my brush, but using the labeled button and selecting X-axis crashes the app. I’m trying to mirror my mesh for eyes and can’t figure out how. ✓ Palm rejection issues(EDIT) review update: Turns out it was a palm rejection issue, developer was very helpful in identifying the problem on the forums, A+ Please please fix the invert toggle. When you hold the +/- toggle on Ipad pro, it switches back and forth between addition and subtraction in an unpredictable manner. ✓ ImpressedThought I had already rated and reviewed this. Whoops.. Anyway. Brilliant application! And the latest update that has introduced a new painting feature is extremely welcome. Definitely looking forward to what the future brings. This is finally starting to feel like a mobile version of Zbrush albeit with a lot less brushes etc. (something I do hope will change over time) however despite that, the app works very well and you can see the developer has worked very hard to keep performance in mind. I’d say the ease of use of this app is decent. But you’ll likely need to read the guide which is included to fully understand how to use the app and it’s features. Overall, very impressed, keep up the great work and I genuinely hope to see this application blossom further with more brushes and other nifty features. You can definitely get things done with this app unlike the very select few other modeling and sculpting apps available on the store. And again, whilst they do work (some of them anyway), the new painting feature blows them all out of the water when it comes to sculpting and texturing. ✓ Best 3D Sculpting App in the App StoreI am a relatively new user to Forger, but have been sculpting digitally for quite a few months now, on ZBrush, and can make almost anything I can imagine. (My 3D modelling knowledge regarding hard surface modelling goes back multiple years, however). This app has a huge range of features, from brushes to alphas, and option menus to masking. This app is being updated very frequently with quality of life improvements (symmetry button easily accessible), as well as possible optimisations being made behind the door (judging by how well it runs). Can’t really say anything bad about this app.. Please continue to update it, and optimise it further.. Very happy with my purchase! Only thing I can suggest is to make an option to make masking and smoothing toggles, with a ‘hold the mask button’ to offer a drop down menu for the masking options found within the options menu bar for ease of access to invert mask, or clear et c. 5/5, from a ZBrush user and 9.7” iPad Pro user..Version: 1.6.30
✓ Fantastic sculpting program.Using Sculptris and Zbrush on the PC, I've also been a big fan of Forger on the iPad for quite a while now and have seen it grow from strength to strength. Considering I only have the iPad2, Forger runs very smoothly at higher model subdivisions. The brushes, particularly the Smooth brush, are more reliable and make the program a joy to use. Forger is now becoming a high-end modelling tool to create quick visualizations on the fly. Very much on my wish list is the ability to duplicate objects for such things as eyeballs, teeth, etc. Five stars well deserved..Version: 1.3.5

✓ Not efficientA nice introduction to 3D sculpting but not efficient. The mesh rarely stays in symmetry. I have to constantly remesh, apply symmetry and start over again. The clay ceases to respond like clay once large amounts of clay are applied to a particular surface. Sculpting Tools are hit and miss. They work one minute, next they don’t. It’s an app that’s consistently inconsistent. I don’t have precise control over any of the tools. It’s a nice app to learn 3D sculpting on but I serious can’t hope to put up any professional work using this. Tutorials are vague and nonexistent. ✓ This is a new development.Well I have had the app for a while now but never really gave it a try, and end up back at Sculptris for the materials. One day I was curious about the lit spheres in forger and all the materials in forger are the same format and with a trick you can get the entire Pixologic alpha, materials, and texture library is compatible with forger just takes some work to get them where you need them to be. This app was great before I found this now my iPad has a new work flow for my creativity..Version: 1.6.30
✓ Quite ImpressiveThis app is no lightweight. Pushing and pulling on a smooth 1.5+ million poly mesh on a 1st Gen iPad Pro I wouldn’t think possible, but Forger does it. ✓ IncredibleI bought the new iPad and the Apple Pencil to draw, and try out some sculpting apps... but I didn’t expect this. There’s a decent amount of tools to use, and the interface is responsive and intuitive. Zbrush users will feel at home pretty quickly, with the ability to subdivide and change levels, append objects, hide objects (like sub tools) and remesh. You can disable touch control and have pen only active, and the camera controls are even identical to zbrush (zooming in and out carried out by holding the camera button, taping on screen, then letting go of the camera button) When I get to around 300,000 polys it tells me my iPad 9.7” (2018 64gb, not pro) is out of memory.. which in fairness is more than enough to sketch out some ideas and even add some nice detail. If you are happy with your sculpt and want to push it even further, you can export as an obj. and throw it into Zbrush on your desktop. You can import images and there’s also a sort of poly paint add on you can buy for 99p.. seems to use PBR work flow (rough/metallic etc) which I haven’t tried, but I’m likely to get it the way things are going. Crash wise, I have had no issues at all... maybe it’s because I’m using a newer device, or maybe it’s all been fixed since a lot of the reviews marked it down. Could this replace zbrush? Of course not. But if you are looking for a sculpting tool that can be used on the go, just for fun or for concepts that you will take further later, then this app is going to be hard to be in my opinion..Version: 1.6.16
✓ Won’t allow Texture Painting after in-app purchase??This app is amazing for sculpting meshes. It really is a portable version of zBrush. But I paid for the feature to paint meshes and the in-app purchase tells me that it was successful-but, it wasn’t. I still cannot paint anything. Yes I turned on local storage. Yes I restarted the app and clicked restore purchase. Yes I tried to convert my sculpted mesh to paintable. Still NOTHING. Anyone else having this issue? I have an iPad Pro running iOS 12. UPDATED After messaging the dev back and forth, I found that he actually cares about the customers and he updated the app twice after I told him I was having issues with it!! ✓ Cool awesome fandiddlytasticThis is by far the most in depth 3d sculpting program on the App Store. I don't feel limited to basic tools and meshes as they a both very customisable. One glitch I have come across is that the tool icons are not showing up. This results in me relying on the titles that come up after clicking on the icon as my only means of identification for the tool. ✓ Excellent tool with loads of featuresWith several emails from the developer I was able to work through some quirks; I’m glad I did because this is a robust, powerful application. I’m the “read the manual” type of person but I was guilty of jumping right in to something new and shiny, so take my advice and READ THE HELP NOTES. Having said that, there are a couple things that weren’t obvious but we’re made clear by the developer: PAINTING: I didn't understand how the modeling and painting were handled autonomously. You must first export your model then when reloading there is the option to continue modeling or to paint. MULTIPLE OBJECTS: When I began painting, I couldn’t understand why only certain polygons were taking the color. Under the OBJECTS tab there were both the original edited model as well as the identical mesh for painting (each has a unique icon). After deleting the original mesh everything was peachy. ✓ Impressive tool for iPadThe Developer is making great headway in producing a very usable organic 3D sculpting package for the iPad. This type of high detail ‘mudbox/zBrush’ style of modeling is very complex to code and takes a lot of skill to do properly. This is the best I have found on the iOS platform -and it is definitely feature rich, and I have no doubt that it will continue to improve. In fact, I have a lot of respect for the fact that the developer is constantly improving and tweaking the usability. This kind of refinement to the app shows just how dedicated the developer must be. I’ve been involved in 3D since the late 80’s and am really excited to see such a capable organic 3D sculpting application. I’m not related to the developer, but noticed that since Apple’s updated AppStore, old reviews seem to be taking as much prominence as new, and reading those reviews do not reflect the state of this application. I have no idea what this app was like 6 years ago, but sure the user may have been frustrated then, but come on Apple why should a six year old review be the first one I’m reading. Six years on, what may have been a barebones app (I’m guessing) is certainly far far far from that. In fact, this app should really be getting more prominence in iPad and iPad Pro adverts. This might not be zBrush ($900), but it certainly is a professional 3D Sculpting tool offering a core subset of the high end tools. This is definitely one of two things: 1) professional and improving and 2) A highly affordable entrance into the most important aspects of the professional organic 3D sculpting. The important tools are there. If you’re wanting to learn the core skills of zBrush and Mudbox I would wager that if you were presented with zBrush, you would be stuck trying to figure out how to even get started. ✓ Best sculpting app BY FARI´m a professional modeler working on the vfx industry for almost 20 years, and I can assure that this is the closest thing to the real deal you will find on your Ipad. The amount of tools and options is second to none and the brushes are butter smooth and totally customizable ( Stamps, curve fallof etc...). For people used to Zbrush, Mudbox etc you will find yourself in the perfect place. This is a must for anyone a bit serious about sculpting. You have subdivision levels, dynamesh, a simple zremesher tool, layers, masking, hidding of areas, OBJ import-export etc etc. You can´t go wrong with this. ✓ A great substitute for ZbrushAs an avid sculptor of Zbrush (and a huge fan), I have started to use this app heavily on my vacation. After a bit of a learning curve as with most programs, I have really got the hang of it. It has a lot of the basic functions you get in Zbrush. Remesh, subdivide, multiple objects, key brushes, etc. It’s really quite solid. Of course there are small requests: keyboard shortcut for increasing/decreasing radius of brush and intensity, better lighting/rendering and of course more polys. Again if you are a 3D sculptor and have an iPad Pro and Pencil, this is pretty great for simple sketches. It’s super handy!!.Version: 1.6.30

✓ Awesome app most of the time.Forger is definitely the best sculpting app on iOS. I am really surprised how powerful it is. I knew it wouldn’t be able to rival zbrush or mud ox etc, but...After trying it out on a friend’s iPad, I literally bought an iPad to be able to sculpt in forger on the road/sofa. Basically it’s awesome but, and the creator has done a great job so far... Here’s a breakdown of my findings.. Positives... Mostly Intuitive workflow Memory efficient Basic but Good sculpting tools Good sharing and file backup functionality Viewport is great Awesome remeshing and symmetry tools Customisable brushes Custom alpha importing Negatives... - UI’s can feel different for different people but I feel like there could be some UI improvements (some of the tools and actions are somewhat hidden and sometimes in wrong menus.) - The gizmo and transform tools are a bit unstable and can cause errors - Importing meshes not made in forger can be problematic. - More video tutorials could be made available. - In my experience, quality of support is great, but you can be waiting a few days to a week for an answer. ✓ Please Help ! Many BugsI really love this app and just want it to run smoothly. I’m having an issue where I have to “recenter my selection” in the tool menu every time I create a new object. Is this normal ? When I started making the first few objects this didn’t happen. I re-insatalled the app and tried again. It stopped till after the 3rd object then persisted. After that it kept keeping the centering tools snapped to the last object even when I made an entirely new onject. When I hit “recenter my selection” it goes back to where it should but I have to do this with every new object. I’m thinking its some sort of setting but I’m thinking its mostly just me. Lastly sometimes objects just won’t duplicate or the tool will be selected to lets say move but it will be affected like the last tool I used like flatten. ✓ Love it, but.....I’ve been using forger since 2019 and I just love it,. Another 3d software came out in 2020 similar to forger but I thought it was a little over complex and the crease tool wasn’t very good. Forger is simple and has the tools you need to do nice work especially now they’ve increased mesh amount to 500I, like many sculptors would love a slicing tool and maybe a special edition forger for people who have iPad Pro 2020 1tb. I personally love it👍 P.s. come on max on/forger get on top of this great app with a revamp and new slicing and hard surface tools..Version: 1.7.18
✓ Well worth buyingAs a professional digital sculptor I must have tried every sculpting app for the iPad. While most are pretty Ropey, this is well worth it. Yes there are some things it could do with adding or tweaking....try as I jig I can,t seem to see an option to invert the sculpting brushes which is essential for digital sculpting. Also the ability to a more aggressive smooth brush would be nice as well. In fact I could make a list of ideas just like anyone else, but the short version is this app is well worth supporting in my opinion. Hopefully development will keep on and I'd love to see an updated version. But bearing in kind the limits of the hardware this is an excellent job and best sculpting app to not come from one of the big companies..Version: 1.1.1

✓ Fantastic!!Great app with plenty of potential. Very intuitive and reminds me of sculpting in Mudbox. Obj import/export is a big plus for me especially developing ideas on the go. Can't wait for more functionality i.e texture support. Could I suggest that the shortcut keys are all placed on the left rather on the four hot corners? It's easier to hold with the left hand and sculpt with the right. I find myself doing finger acrobatics whilst performing some function. ✓ Like ZBrush Lite for my iPad!I can’t emphasise enough how good this app is, and what incredible value you are getting here. I work in the games industry as an artist. I do a lot of work using professional 3D software like ZBrush (which costs hundreds). ZBrush has a lot of powerful features hidden away in sub-menus and such. Many of those features I’ve never needed, some I might only use once in a blue moon, there are probably even a few that I don’t know about. This app doesn’t have all of that. What it does have, however, is all the core sculpting tools that I use all of the time, and it does them really REALLY well. It does also have a surprising number of powerful features, that I never would have expected. Layers, subdivisions, remeshing, masks, and even an add-on to do mesh painting. It’s all there, and it all runs quickly and seamlessly. I genuinely think everyone should have this app. Whether you are just getting started with 3D, or you’re a seasoned pro. Everything you essentially need to do amazing sculpts is here, and with the convenience of iPad+Apple Pencil, it means you are free to work on your projects any time anywhere, on the train, in bed etc... Even for people who have absolutely no pre-existing interest in 3D sculpting... this app is such a bargain, and so easy to use… just download it and have a play around, you might discover a talent you never knew you had! ✓ A good mesh modelling app.I have used this app to model a character mesh with the apple pencil, then export it to Blender for rigging. Using the pencil and tablet allows for more play and gesture. There have been some hiccups in the workflow, and with importing /exporting, and I have yet to use the new texture painting function, but it is an app with real potential as a professional tool..Version: 1.6.6
