✓ It's not to bad, could be alot better tho..Works well on my 4S and just as well on my 3rd Gen iPad.. As x2 looks normal instead of shocking.. However, it really needs a UI polish up, and more country's, needs to be louder, more precise, and the 50% of the languages in the description for the paid version, are unsupported, and or have no voice translate yet, It really needs more than what it offers now for a paid version imo.. When those things happen, which should be achievable in update/s to come, I'll add a star 🌟.Version: 1.0
✓ Helped so much in hospital, soooo much.There was a French couple next door to us in hospital. Tests were vigorous for epilepsy, to include sleep deprivation, withholding medication etc.. So that seizures would happen and consequently be monitored. Interpreter was scarce, sometimes here for an hour, sometimes not at all. This program really helped these people so much, imagine being in a new country and not being able to communicate with anyone at all. Never mind going through these gruelling tests, daily. Thank you so much, for giving me peace of mind that I could help these people, and more people in the future. Bindomm.Version: 1.2

✓ Could be a awesome app but!!!!I used this app for 3 months across Europe and for the most part found it very helpful with one exception, the American flag for English. I have no problem with Americans, well except for 1, LOL. My biggest pet peeve is in order for me to translate English to let's say Italian and I have to use the American ( which uses the American flag )as a Canadian It really bothered me especially when using the app to talk to people and all they see is the American flag and more then a few times I was asked " I thought u were Canadian" . ✓ Fantastic - mostlyThis works well for the French and Mandarin that I have tried. It has trouble with "where is the hotel?" in Italian for some strange reason. ✓ AwesomeI was thinking i would love this app to use if I was on the show Amazing Race! But even better, you can also use this to say something you want to say in a certain language, and copy & paste the Arabic writing for example onto a Facebook post maybe to someone of that ethnic background! Or cards, emails etc. Love how you can translate from English to another language, and vice versa! ✓ Great App for short Mandarin PhrasesThis is good for short, common phrases or sentences in Mandarin Chinese. Not always 100% accuracy, but for the modest price, it's pretty good. For common questions or expressions, you can save them in the app's Phrasebook. Hopefully, future versions will improve on accuracy and be able to translate longer sentences; maybe even several sentences accurately..Version: 3.1.5

Not user friendly and I get the impression it only works if the other person you are trying to communicate with has to have this app too. Not happy. I wanted it to help me at the doctors. ✓ My love in the Dominican republicI recently went down to Dominican republic got married I do not speak any Spanish all I had was a text translator. Then I noticed the other day they had a voice translator and now it is so much easier to communicate I could speak to her and she can speak to me in translation she was so happy to hear what I was used to text but here in her own language by voice so until I learn to speak the language this is the perfect way for us to communicate I’ll probably upgrade to some wireless earbuds voice translation system that are available soon.Version: 4.0.9

Not perfect but better than anything else I have ever tried and correcting is quick, but then it could be due to my aging iPhone3s. ✓ Lost in translationHere in is the on going problem::: the Chinese all talk at once . They all talk from different parts of country ... They understand 1/3 of what each other says ...if that ! ✓ Good Cantonese Verbal TranslationUnlike Google which has ignored Cantonese , this app has good accuracy in verbal/written English to Cantonese and Cantonese to English translation. It can distinguish between daily spoken Cantonese versus written which is a great help when using it for day to day communication. Spoken Cantonese is different than the written form and it is so nice that this company has continued to support Cantonese which is highly used throughout the world where Chinese have immigrated . I have two half Italian brothers so I am used to being around multilingual speakers and have subconsciously acquired lots of words and phrases. This app has really helped me to develop and turn what I found familiar into something useful. I am currently working through a self teach book and this app is perfect to look up words and phrases. Sometimes the app is a little off with translations but that comes with anything in this sort of thing and I think that this is amazing compared to anything else currently on the market. I think it would be useful to add what is masculine and feminine, as well as let users know what is formal and informal as this is very important across the romance languages. ✓ No more pointless shouting.No mater how loud and slowly I shouted at non English speaking people I never got the message across. Shouting slowly at this app doesn’t work very well so maybe shouting just doesn’t work ;) However speaking to the app like a normal human seems go get a good response This app is great for getting over the selective English speaking people that speak perfect English when they want something but forget every word of it when you ask them to do something. If I was as clever as them I could speak their language but I’m not so this app helps make me more clever and stops the “don’t understand” excuses. You have to speak quite clearly & it speaks back very fast but thats probably close to how you would hear in native tongue, so I think a great learning tool & translator if need be. It shows you what it heard you say then speaks the translation. Google translate you type it all in & can playback but this you don't have to type! I probably use Google translate more tho because you can easily cross check more detailed translations. I do think this app is worth having tho..Version: 1.3
✓ Older version was significantly betterI’m semi fluent in Japanese and this app, before the complete overhaul, was great. Japanese was pretty close to native translation. Had 2 of my colleagues, fluent in French and Mandarin, test it and they said they were impressed with how close it was to native. Since the overhaul the translations are horrible. Japanese still, after a few updates, shows Chinese Roman letter, and for all three (Japanese, French and Mandarin) google translate, in all it’s horrible glory, does far better. Several words are missing and they just stick in an English sounding substitute and grammar / sentence structure is off. Unless you only want to translate a single word, don’t bother with this app until they fix it..Version: 4.0.5
✓ ExcellentSimply an excellent app. Exceeds all expectations. I have not experienced any of the issues that other reviewers described. I have a 4s and siri causes no problems. Further, audio input and output are certainly appropriate volumes. Years ago, software cost money. At 99c, this app is essentially free and you get a powerhouse. Only improvement I can think of is speeding up translation time to the point where it is real time but that is really asking for a miracle. The couple of seconds that this app takes to translate makes it extremely useful in its current form. I would not hesitate to recommend this app..Version: 1.0

✓ New lease of languageI've been using iTranslate for over two years and have used it in 10 or more different languages. It's enabled me to quickly understand parts of written conversations that I couldn't translate without, and to carry out one to one conversations in multi language group chats. ✓ Useful for PhrasesThis app is good for phrases as the phrase gives the program context which increases its accuracy. For single words, I find my dictionary app more useful as it shows the various meanings of a word. One issue with the app is that it is not very accurate ‘hearing’ a female voice. I usually type phrases in or lower my voice (which marginally improves accuracy). Overall, I find this app a useful tool, but it’s not the only tool in my toolbox when I study my Spanish lessions..Version: 4.0.10

✓ Internet a problemI love this app but I just don't like how it needs Internet connection to be able to work. ✓ Very impressiveWow, you just say it, and it will say back in the language you chose. Surprised how well it recognizes what you say, I don't really pronounce words the best but it responded great! I attend a weekly 'leisure learning' class at my local college and have bought many supposedly easy book/cd learning packages. This app has proved invaluable, because it instantly tells you the words and phrases you need to know, thus speeding up the learning process considerably. I'm also finding that, because the app provides such quick answers, I'm using it more than I would a conventional phrase book or dictionary, and the grammar I've spent ages trying to remember is finally starting to make sense! Ok you need to speak slowly and clearly, but all this for 69 pence? It's an absurdly low price for something as fiendishly useful as this. ✓ Rocks out English to Thai.This app is really not to be believed. The voice translater is flawless with about a 98 % accuracy, the trick is to speak a little slower with accurate pronunciation. One cravat is the service in many Asian country is bad except Tokyo. So the translater only usually only works at the hotels wifi. I wish the would post all the languages in offline mode. They should realize the the eas is much larger then the west, however since they are so cool they get my five Stars! Update on this version. Still love It, still going strond..Version: 4.0.10
✓ Could use a tune upFirst off, australian English is very welcome thank you. A couple of things: the volume of the speaker is WAY too quiet, even with max handset volume. Hard to hear! Second, it rarely translates what I say in a foreign language back to english correctly even after multiple attempts of saying what the translator did. This is an extraordinary app. For me, it works as swiftly and accurately as Siri - maybe more so? - with the same quick turnaround between my speech input and the translated, announced output. It's so handy to just speak signs, menus, speech you've overheard etc. in the foreign language and back translate to your preferred language to find what they mean, as well as forward converting what you want to say without tedious typing. I'm convinced two strangers could converse together using this as an interpreter! The user interface is as simple and accessible as can be: just a flag-button for each of the two languages, which you tap and then speak. As far as I can tell, accuracy for words and even compound phrases is high, helped if I'm extra careful with my diction. Remember that, like Siri, you can always go back to edit your spoken input with the keyboard - pressing and holding a key to bring up accented characters such as those needed for French - and this improves the app's lookup. ✓ The potential is there!Apart from the app not picking up some of the words or sentences I speak every now and then (which may be due to my half English half Australian accent) this has great potential! The ability to speak different accents of English is a big bonus and i stick to Australian English instead of Brit English due to my afore mentioned "affliction" as my colleagues like pointing out. As I regularly interact with the members of the public and would say 30% are from Eastern Europe. I have found this app quite handy when there is a language barrier. I wouldn't suggest trying to hold a meaningful conversation with it, but, to get your point understood is very useful (and of course visa-versa). There is always room for improvement, but it handles words and sentences that are not used every day well. Obviously having good 3G coverage is always helpful as it will struggle if you're in the middle of nowhere (but that's the same with most translators).
