The app is a little simple for my liking and not quite challenging enough but it still managed to teach me some things my Sensei didn't get the chance to. It's a simple way to practice and a easy way for beginners to learn the words but it won't teach you everything...Specifically not the intensely difficult sentence structure and grammar of Japanese. ✓ Just A Fun AppThis is a fun app to learn with. I'm using it to improve my vocabulary and proficiency in the Taijutsu class. There is a short lesson with pictures and the Japanese word written above it, and the word spoken to you in Japanese. At the end of the lesson you take the test and match the English word with what is shown, written, and spoken to you. The only improvement I would recommend for this app is the option to see the English word and speak the Japanese word into the mic on the phone. However, as is, the app gets 5 stars in my opinion..Version: 1.7.0

I am using index cards to copy the "script," this helps me remember what the word means and also forces me to practice my writing the various characters. ✓ Worked well for me! All free lessons!I enjoyed the free lessons! I learned the words quickly, pronunciation & picture association were pretty easy. There were a few that took a few times to get but practice will make it easier. I had learned the numbers 1-10 when I was younger up to ten but #4 & 7 were different. I didn't learn zero. The characters are more difficult but I guess if I go over it more times my mind will memorize it. Or I can use another program that I have that allows finger tracing to learn to write Japanese. ✓ Great for BeginnersI have been using this app with my children to learn the basics of Japanese. It is simple and child-friendly. We tried another app and it was confusing. The only suggestions for improvement would be to add more categories and words (e.g. foods, places),and to slow some of the pronunciation (like for zero). Most words are fine but a few sounded different than the written pronunciation. Also, please provide the word for ten. Otherwise, we find this app to be our favorite starter app..Version: 1.7.0
