✓ Needs updating again!!!!However much I want to use this app it never fails to disappoint. Many times I log on and there is only one item of news showing. Spelling is an issue as well. It’s also very slow at loading. My biggest moan is the sport section.....it’s not it needs to be renamed Football Section. There’s more to life than football !!!!!.Version: 7.2.0

The journalism is first class and the paper’s content is the perfect length. ✓ Consistently poorFor a fantastic newspaper, edited by one of the cleverest people in the land and backed by some of its most inspired entepreneurs, it is a mystery why the ES app is so consistently poor. Should we scroll it? Or download it? Do we click on inset headlines that look like clickbait, rather than journalism? Oh there it goes again, crashing into smartphone oblivion. Just as the FT did a year or so ago, the designers of this digital mess should just own up, put their hands up and completely overhaul the experience. The lack of functionality means I never now read the newspaper...something I want to do!.Version: 7.2.0

✓ Not a fan of new layout.Sorry I much preferred the older layout. Closer to actual news paper format. I miss the letters, comic and editorials. I live in San Francisco but am a frequent visitor to London. The ES is great for quick ideas for dinner. Lunch, events. New style format makes these difficult and almost impossible to find. ✓ Downgrade more than upgradeNew upgrade is slow to download and again v disappointing. Older still No offline version, I just read something else then. Previously I could stand at a Tube station, down load an offline copy of the paper and read it in the tube. Since the upgrade, it doesn't seem to download the whole paper, just the page that I am on. So when the train moves off, I can't turn the page. It also takes longer to load each page. Poor version..Version: 7.0.1

✓ The best paper in UKSince George Osborne took over as the editor of ES I find myself agreeing down to the last word of his leaders as if I wrote them. He has improved the lay out and content and made it the easiest and most authoritative publication for anyone who is interested in reading well written and true news. However, since the last update I’m concerned to see every time I open it, I get an iPadOS pop up to say it has pasted from the clipboard from my iPhone. ✓ Blatant Football BiasMaybe it’s me but the lengths they go to at the Evening Standard sports department to focus on certain clubs is unrivalled anywhere. Maybe as it’s not the London Evening Standard anymore but there seems to be more focus on Man Utd , Arsenal and even Real Madrid than is warranted..Version: 7.3.0

✓ A great app to have on your phoneI love this app. By being a Londoner, I love being kept updated on what’s going on in the city of London on a daily basis on my phone. I no longer need to pickup my own copy of the newspaper I could read it at my own leisure on my phone. It’s highly recommend. ✓ Gives me perspectiveI’m an elderly US citizen living in North Carolina. I Lived in London in the 1980’s. I Think the ES provides a youngish view of the world, and also reports objectively on US events, maybe less biased that US papers. I also subscribe to the FT, so along with the NYT and other papers, I get a reasonable information stream..Version: 7.3.0

✓ Font gets blurry when zoomingWith the latest update I was disappointed to find that when zooming in to enlarge the words, they become blurry. This wasn’t a problem with the old version and it something that needs to be fixed. After living in London for many years, at the time of ESs’ induction, I looked forward to getting my glossy ES from the tube station. ✓ Good app but...This app is good. I would have given it 5 stars if reading an article I can increase the text size for only contents of the article to fit in my mobile phone screen. That does not happen for the evening standard app. Hope that can be fixed..Version: 7.0.1
