✓ Works very wellSo far I'm loving this app. I'm in china and quickly realising how little English is spoken out here. I had to use my google translate (GT) app to even set up my baidu account. It was a case of taking screenshots and uploading them in GT, translating them and going back into baidu. It took me two days to open an account and I don't think it would have been possible without a VPN and GT... oh, and of course a Chinese number! The app picks up what the locals are saying pretty well. As for English to Chinese, I've found it better to type as it makes a lot of mistakes through the mic. I think the camera facility works a lot better through GT. When typing, translation is very fast compared with GT. But I think both apps are necessary, as you never know when one of them will play up. And for GT to work you'll need a VPN. I advise to install high quality VPN on all devices before you arrive.
