Speldosa (Wintergatan Music Box) is an Audio Unit instrument, the result of a unique collaboration between Klevgrand and the Swedish artist Wintergatan/Martin Molin. Wintergatan has primarily worked in the physical world (the Marble Machine is probably the most astonishing example), while Klevgrand has performed its craft within the digital sphere. When these two worlds now meet, the result is something that both visually and aurally inspires the creation of new compelling melodies.
Speldosa (Swedish for “Music Box”) is the essence of the shared beliefs of Klevgrand and Wintergatan, and their fascination with minimalism. A simple melody played on a music box can contain an equal amount of emotional power as any symphonic work. There is something about the music box sound that never ceases to fascinate.
The instrument itself has been meticulously recorded by Wintergatan and transformed into a playable digital instrument plugin. It features four different models (Modern, Vintage, Antique, and Eternal = Reversed), two different Room models, and an algorithmic reverb.

"I created the sound by sampling a music box using an acoustic guitar as resonance box. I chose the best samples and it was instant magic. The Music Box went on to become the sonic signature for my two bands, Detektivbyrån and Wintergatan, both recognised for their unique sound. The Speldosa has been the secret sauce in my music career and i hope other musicians finds it as useful as i have.
There is a special quality to this exact music box sound that lifts it above the novelty feeling of a toy and turns it into a real music instrument. It just sounds so good, that’s really it. And it is a sound that makes you write music instantly - the music comes from the sound itself.
During the collaboration with Klevgrand, when they sent me the first beta version of the plugin, i ended up playing around with the sound for three hours, losing track of time. I wrote three songs that day when i was scheduled to actually do something else. That’s what the sound does to me, and i think it will do the same for others."

✓ Marvellous Molin Machine!This all works and sounds very well indeed. The app is more suited to my iPad Air with the M1 chip. One thing it lacks is a recording machine. ✗ Honest feedbackI can see where the future of this app might go but at the moment to me it wasn’t worth the $5.99 that I payed not that I want any money back because I hope that it can go toward your other projects somehow but from an outside point of view it’s nothing but 3 preset sounds that you can bang out on a virtual keyboard or hardware through midi... with built in reverb... there are a lot of free synths that are capable of recreating this ring mod easily... just saying maybe a record option would be cool at least you could pre program some songs into it to save... and as for an example of a great free full functional synth Synth One for iOS is free and fully functional... but besides that I hope you are able to start adding some cool features to the app such as some type of sequencer to at least be able to record and save projects... and besides that love your channel and your work guys. Keep up the great work.... at this point you guys may as well just write your own synthesizer... such as Alex at Sun Vox.LooseskrewzVersion: 1.0.1

✗ Simple Sweet SoundFirst impressions: Good for ambient and soft music styles, but with only one sound, it’s limited. Surely some in-app purchase options would extend the use of this app. Generally, I like it and will use it in my productions (occasionally). Yet I can’t help feeling a little disappointed, this is really a toy box sound, wrapped in a neat and simple user interface. The other reviews tempted me to make a purchase today. I give three stars and not five, due to there only being one sound. The sound is lovely non the less, with a charm. The reverse option is a nice touch. To me this app not bad value for money, it’s a welcome addition in my collection, but I have plenty of other apps that outshine Speldosa, such as Lo-Fi Tape.
