✓ Revised reviewThis was a 5 star app at one point. I got it because it worked with Hue and Lightify flawlessly. I continued to expanded my setup extensively using hue and Lightify, then one day Lightify would not work with it at all. No response from developer and then all of a sudden they completely removed Lightify support. It does however control my Avea Bluetooth bulb, I wonder how long it will be before they remove the support for that. Update: now it will no longer control the lifx bulbs, no way to add them either..Trampas SiskVersion: 1.83

✓ Don't!!!I bought this app because one of the screen caps showed a CIE diagram with the hue gamut. I've been looking for an app that will let me accurately produce CIE specified colors. This is NOT it. Waste of money. This app lets you drag the pointer all the way to the spectrum locus in the green, well outside of the gamut triangle, and the Hue is not capable of making those colors. Whatever else it does to make your lights flash, the technical side of this is inaccurate..ScottBSVersion: 1.6.6

✓ Spies on youThis app listens to your microphone ALL THE TIME while the app is running. There is always a red bar at the top of the screen saying "Scintillator". ✓ PartGiraffeThis is a good app for creating scenes and animations for your Hue lights. It's intuitive to use and has loads of options for getting just the effect you want. Trouble is, it's flawed. The big no no for me is the way the app works in the background when in use. For example, I created a scene, or used one of the excellent presets, but when opening another app or returning to the home-screen, my iphone displays a red-bar to warn me that the Scintillator is still using the mic. You can deny the app access to the phone's microphone in iOS settings so it's not listening. You can also turn off the "always listening" option in the app settings, and this removes the red-bar from the screen. Trouble is, this also stops the Hue bulbs animating once you close the app. It's either red-bar and working bulbs, or no red-bar and static colours - not a great choice really. I give this app three stars, as the scene creation really is very good, and the "always listening" option doesn't worry me from a privacy viewpoint (as the mic permissions stop it listening), but that either/or problem with the red-bar really is a deal breaker. Good app, ruined by a clunky method of working in the background. Particularly frustrating as there are other apps for the Hue bulbs that don't have the same issue but have the same quality of scene/animation creation. ✓ Apple Music doesn’t work, finds 9 lights but only controls 3I’m pretty sure the two reviews here are fake, first off it says it found nine hue lights however there’s absolutely no way to configure any of these lights and for whatever reason it only controls two of the lights and my light strips, the rest don’t seem to do anything through this app. Secondly it didn’t automatically find my bridge or a friend of mine’s bridge; I figured my Internet connection might be a little weird due to our network set up so I tried his which has his hub plugged directly into the router. Unfortunately the only way to set it up was to manually enter my bridge IP address. Apple Music integration finds all of my music but it’s all grey’ed out, doesn’t work. Unfortunately because they didn’t add a microphone option you can’t even use the music visualization feature. How terrible can you be where you force people to use one music option (Apple Music) which is integrated directly into your app (and broken) instead of having something like a mic option to listen to music in the room instead. There’s absolutely no way to configure which lights that this app uses that I found, the interface is terribly stupid and simple, all together it seems like a half-baked app that still in beta testing and never gets updated..ThalinorVersion: 1.81

✓ Great butI LOVE THIS APP; however, it recently stopped running unless my phone is unlocked and open to the app itself. It used to run with a bar on top of the screen (like navigation). ✓ Looked promising but...Well this app really looked promising, great feature, easy to use, but in the end totally useless. There is no background operation for the app. As soon as your phone screen locks the app stops and the light effects stop with it. So unless you keep the phone screen active and use no other apps at the same time it works. Trouble is no one uses a phone like that. ✓ 3Absolutely fantastic app. If you have a hue setup and don't have this app you are only getting half of hue. Setup is great, press button to pair is seamless and presented elegantly. UI is clean throughout, initiative and very well considered despite a daunting initial tutorial page hinting otherwise. Built in effects are varied and beautiful without exception, can't wait to really spend some time with the editor. There are enough subtle ones present for this to become my default hue app. Underpriced if anything. One small caveat, I would beg the developer to please give me an app icon with a fraction of... restraint. This is now my entire existence's default light interface. They have coded a replacement for the switch on my wall. If the switch on my wall was designed like this icon I would have ripped it out and subsisted on candles and glo-sticks. Please remedy. One bigger caveat. No backgrounding. At all, unlike every other hue app. Your phone is completely unusable while these light effects are running. ✓ 2.99 for a worthless icon on my home screenBought the app for my 4 lifx color 1000 br30 bulbs, open the app in excitement to go the the connections page and get it up and running, and all I get is a big fat red X. It won't connect to my bulbs that I was so readily excited to play with. If you have lifx, do not waste your money. I will update this review "if" they get it updated and working. ✓ Working again for LifxUpdate: The app is once again working for Lifx. I still have to spend some time with the app to truly get to know it but I'm updating my review to reflect that it is working. I'm only giving 3 stars so far due to it not having a notification widget and an on/off toggle, it has an off at the top of the app but no on making you scroll to bottom of the page if the desired effect you last turned off is located there. Interface is simple and aesthetically pleasing, and the app is a solid 4-4.5 with above additions..The OS ogVersion: 1.6.6

I want to be able to select bulbs I want to have these effects on so I can set them to desk lamps or light boxes as highlights to my room while my other HUE lights are providing the "non animated" light.
