Find a Grave for Positive User Reviews

MemorialsIt’s such a great feeling when you search for a name you need to find & the memorial is there. There are frustrations when you have further information on that memorial and it seems like the person who has it is not responding. Find a Grave is a great tool for Ancestry. It’s wonderful when all family members can be remembered and information can be shared with others needing clarification on their relatives..Version: 1.19.1

Keeps getting better and betterI love the enhancements the that keep getting added. 1. I would like the app to track how many sites I have GPS marked. 2. The blue font color for cancel/ add when GPS marking graves is very hard to see when in bright sunlight. I don’t want to run at full brightness eating up my battery and shorting my time in the cemetery..Version: 1.20.1

AmazingSo incredibly interesting......fascinating and informative. I love reading the notes that are sometimes are added. It brings ‘life’ to the people who are otherwise just forgotten names. It’s been a great help to me in discovering the graves of my long lost relatives The War memorials are especially poignant a ‘Lest we forget.’.Version: 1.11

We’re classmates in the Basic German Course at Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey, California in 71‘-72‘ and the Basic Interrogation Course, U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School, Fort Huachuca,Arizona, March -June 72‘. We served together at Border Resident Iffice Cham, as observers of Communist Czechoslovakia June 72 - January 74. U last saw Tom in January 1974 when I was on my way to my next assignment at Ft Huachuca, AZ. I was saddened to learn of Tom‘s passing. He left us to soon. May his memory be a blessing..Version: 1.10.3

Awesome AppI have just got started looking into my family history thanks to my uncle he has helped me with this app if the memorial page is uploaded and updated correctly you will be able to see pictures and also find the grave where your love one has been layed to rest the map on here will not only take you to the cemetery where you family member is buried but on some memorials maps it will take you straight to there grave so that you don’t have to search the whole grave yard to find your loved one..Version: 1.10.3

Great grave info app, and developers responsive!A huge thank you to Find-a-Grave app developers for recently adding iPad Landscape support, greatly appreciated! They do read user feedback and work hard to accommodate our suggestions. The Find-a-Grave app provides great grave info searches, including matches by name, date, location, as well as whatever grave info is available, including locations, obituaries, etc. Very helpful to find someone based on partial info and to narrow the search. With the latest updates, very well done and helpful app, and runs nicely across different devices..Version: 1.4.5

Needs message abilityGreat app, but I would love to send messages and reply to them via this app instead of going to the website..Version: 1.2.2

Screen sizingThe recent screen sizing update is a huge improvement for the iPad. Using the app for searching is better than using the desktop version..Version: 1.4

Memorial for Curien ConroThis is my great grandfather and he did not have a Memorial or a grave site. I got in touch with St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where he was a member. I was referred to Deacon James Ward, who checked their records, and found where Curien Conro was buried. James took pictures right away with the explanation that Curien was buried inbetween two graves, but had no head stone. That is why no one was able to locate Curien’s grave and some day I hope to give him a head stone. Janet Sweet Lux.Version: 1.5.6

Very interestingI’ve been working on my family tree since I was 12 years old and I feel that find-a-grave has helped me quite a bit with finding family members I didn’t know about. I also found interesting on the side about my dad’s best friend’s family and my boyfriend’s family, which my boyfriend was willing to discuss..Version: 1.19.1

Grave FinderAbsolutely amazing easy to use and makes finding Cemetery's much easier..Version: 1.2.2

App is great!Very easy to use The only exception is for military rankings/occupations when contributing or editing look to be more centered around modern army/marines and not enough Naval and possibly Air Force. There is no “Cook” or QM denotations either. Many placards I come across that are Navy have very different and very specific descriptions of the veteran’s status that are not included in the minimal list given. Another thing I would like to see happen is the option to select which war(s)/conflict(s) they were involved in..Version: 1.19.1

Great App, but …….I enjoy wandering cemeteries to try and fulfill photo requests. It seems like you can sort the open requests by everything but the obvious- section and plot/lot. I’d like to sort by cemetery, then section, plot, and then alpha. It’s hard to navigate large lists, in huge cemeteries, while scrolling up and down hundreds of request. At the very least, give “Section” and “Lot” an alphanumerical, dedicated column in your database and let us filter on the values..Version: 1.18.2

Great AppI like this app. Mainly it meets a need for my genealogical research by requesting photos of headstones I need, or by my reciprocating andphotographing headstones for others. There are some aspects that I still find confusing when using it. But I wouldn’t be without it..Version: 1.13.1

Great app…Enjoy using it but latest Update signed me out of app & my Saved Info won’t let me sign back in now. I even tried to manually put it in instead of using Auto Fill & it’s still a No Go. Hope you will fix whatever happened,.Version: 1.14.3

Great site and amazing membersThis app is as good as the people who log onto it and they are absolutely fabulous. I have been working on my family tree for many years and know the barriers with finding information. This site assists with reducing these barriers due to the extensive database, coupled with thousands of amazing like minded people who help by adding information, taking photos and completing requests. This has made it possible for me to see the final resting place of family members that I would never be able to find or see as they are buried overseas. Can’t talk high enough of this app..Version: 1.5.1

Very nice first effort!I particularly appreciate being able to narrow a search to a specific Canadian province and "county", something which currently cannot be done at the website..Version: 1.0

Thank youFor the beautiful people that have visited and left cards while I could not get on site . I thank you with all my heart. From Lee’s mum x x x.Version: 1.6.1

Great app...but1. Should be able to remove requests sent to you, that you cannot find without removing it completely 2. Should be able to block people who repetitively lecture you about the angle of the photos submitted.Version: 1.12

Awesome siteWhat a great tool for finding out information- love it.Version: 1.20.1

Worth the waitVery stable, well-designed app. I'm sure it will contribute much to Find a Grave's goal..Version: 1.0

CorrectionsI found mistakes in the spelling of the names of Glenn Basil Allred’s (my father) children (myself) and his grandchildren (my children). My name is spelled Donita Ray Allred. My daughter’s name is spelled Jeanita Lee Newton. My other daughter’s name is spelled Jerilyn Raynae Rule. I do not recognize the name or who supplied this information, but this is my family and I know the correct information which should apply to this grave, etc. Also, my maternal grandmother, Wilma Laughter Watson did not have a middle name. The information here shows Lina as her middle name which is wrong..Version: 1.19.1

MThis is good as long as people help each other, and all the cemeteries were there , should be able to add more there are lots missing.Version: 1.0

Brilliant!I am an avid user of and contributor to this Find A Grave so it is fantastic to get access to it when I am on the go..Version: 1.2.2

MemoriesLove this app.Version: 1.17

Tippe history centerWe have the folkemer funeral home books in book 6 page 246. Thomas died at the indiana soldiers home in tippecanoe county body was moved to Greentown to the Fulwidler undertakers He was not in Indianapolis at time of death Thank you You called today we think. We wished we asked you these questions I am the volunteer Amy you talked to is the hired genealogist. How did you find Sheridan sold his farm. Do you have copy of record. Also how do you know what year Suzanna died? Record would be greatly appreciated for our family file We went to the courthouse last week looking for guardian papers for the three children. We found all the records but the very early ones they would have been in. The courthouse then was in another town. Whether those records lost when moved we don’t know. It seemed all records for the time period we wanted were missing. I believe the family to be Catholic. Maybe in church records somewhere. Do you agree with this thought?.Version: 1.16.3

Transcribing photosGreat updates to the last few versions, it has made using the mobile version much friendlier to use. It may already be in the workings since it was added to one of the latest mobile updates, but being able to navigate and skip photos when transcribing on the desktop version is a much needed addition. I, I’m sure along with many other contributors mainly use the desktop version to submit most entries because of ease of use. This addition, along with a contributor’s ability to forego the 7 days for others to transcribe photos would be a much needed and great addition to the desktop version to streamline new memorials. Also the ability to report duplicate memorials and combine them was a much needed and excellent addition to recent changes. Keep up the great work find a grave team..Version: 1.9

Great app although…When you report a duplicate grave, the burden is placed back on you. I understand we are volunteers, but really it would take someone 1 minute to see the clear duplicates and either remove them all together, or to remove the dup, annotate the original, and place the dup in a separate section just in case..Version: 1.13.1

Thank youJust a quick thank you to the developers who are managing this app. The effort to improve the app has been excellent and is greatly appreciated by myself. Your also very quick in resolving any bugs which is also appreciated. Keep up the good work!.Version: 1.14.3

Great App!!Easy to use App - great for finding graveyards &/or listings. Easy to add entries as well..Version: 1.2.2

What a gem!Just loving this app! And just loving all the helpful Find-a-Grave community. A must for all those who are 'stalking dead people'!.Version: 1.2.2

Good, but needs improvements. This app is good, and fun. However, it wold be good if there was the ability to send messages from the app. There could also be a setting for d/m/y as well as m/d/y. The app could also be easier to navigate, with easier access to favourited cemeteries and maybe a function to visit featured memorial and leave flowed via the app. Overall, it is a good app that only bugs a few times!.Version: 1.10

Looks very handyOnly tested this at home so far and it looks very useful. I will be out and about fulfilling photo requests in a couple of days time and that will be the real test especially as some of the graveyards I need to visit are rural! My only concern is my mobile data usage as the app downloads a cemetery image as soon as you select the required cemetery. I don’t want or need this to happen unless I am on WiFi..Version: 1.2.2

In Memory of Avalanna RouthI’m so blessed and very happy with this app find a grave it is so easy to use and it almost the same thing as the website which I can do both of them and it much better for me is because it has a Map as well this way I can find Avalanna’s grave in Merrimac Massachusetts in Boston so the next time whenever I do travel I’ll be able to know where it is myself and so I bring flowers by Avalanna’s resting place she is buried at the Locust Grove Cemetery and anyways I’m so glad that to have this app and their website find a grave is the best way to find your loved ones grave of their burial of their resting at the cemetery and specially for me how I found Avalanna’s grave and her resting place of where she was buried it was so easy for me to find it me like I said it is so easy and I love this so much.Version: 1.19.1

Being Hard to Claim a Family MemberI have tried many times to suggest a management transfer of my family members to me and nothing has happened. This is frustrating and I wish there was a separate way to suggest a transfer, not just using suggest other corrections, because some people have so many memorials added that they don’t go through every edit suggestion. But I appreciate that there is a site to search for gravestones of your family and it has been a great resource.Version: 1.9

The best! This is an invaluable place to find details of those people we have lost. It’s my go-to resource in genealogical research!.Version: 1.9

Love this siteFind a Grave is a great to in our ancestry. If used correctly. Since it’s all volunteers, you depend on the accuracy of hat they put on the site. The biggest downfall with this is people only caring about their numbers. They get information from funeral homes and create memorials immediately. This leaves people who want to manage close friends and or family members outside the guidelines unable to be the manager. Many of these “numbers” people copy and paste obituary, which includes names of living relatives. They also use the pictures provided to the funeral homes. To me find a grave is exactly that- finding the grave. Not create a memorial. Just wish there was a cap or something to keep these people from grabbing all memorials. Or at least not make them immediately upon publishing..Version: 1.13.1

AwesomeLove this app no problems using it smooth everytime.Version: 1.6.1

Works very wellI have using for about 2 weeks and posted about 250 photos and about 30 new memorials. In works very well and so far no bugs..Version: 1.15.2

Totally Addicted! The app is simple and effective. It is a true gift to those looking for information on ancestry, and a lovely hobby for those who just enjoy the cemetery atmosphere. The concept is golden. I was also impressed to find that the app draws the gps coordinates from photos taken on Apple. Super convenient when you didn’t take the time to identify in the field. Overall my wife and I are loving it, we can’t wait to see how far our transcribing journey can reach!.Version: 1.19.1

Good app! One sorting recommendationGreat app! I use it a lot and often try to update pics or GPS coordinates for people. One thing that would be helpful is I am always curious who the oldest/youngest person is buried in a cemetery - so would be nice to sort the list based on year born (earliest - recent, recent - earliest) Unknown’s could be listed at the bottom or something..Version: 1.9

Find A GraveExcellent tool for finding relatives. Depends on volunteers who enter memorials. Not all graves are entered! If you have documentation or personal knowledge regarding a grave, then you to can become a member volunteer and enter missing memorials and / or enhance the information that may be missing on others. Thank you to all those volunteers who provide us with so much valuable information..Version: 1.8

Find a graveAn amazing tool for working on family history.Version: 1.2.2

Adding gravestones to siteThis is a wonderful way during the pandemic to get outside in the fresh air in my community and surrounding area while keeping distanced from others. You help with family research, get exercise and I enjoy seeing the headstones in the older parts of the cemeteries.Version: 1.16.3

The lost onesThere are people who have walked this earth and have passed with no grave stone or cremated remains in a specific location. Will there be an opportunity to list these people with loved ones with their family on this application? I have two examples; one is an indigenous person buried on sacred land not marked for individuals but for community. Another is a person who wished his ashes be scattered in a park that he loved, again no marker, no registry and most likely against the law but your app would show the connection to the past with us in the present..Version: 1.20.1

My SisterMy name is Dianne Milne. I have been searching for my sister’s grave. My Sister’s name is Julieanne Betteridge (née Eagles)Died on the 30th November 2020 Lester and Son Funeral service in Albury. My Sister was cremated Church Service was at St Mathews Church on the 8th December 2020 . I was to believe that her Ashes were layed to rest with her Mother and Father James Edward Eagles,Kathleen Eva Eagles, and David Eagles (Brother )at Glen Morris cemetery Albury,N.S.W but when I search I don’t get any information. I was wondering if you could help as I would like to know where she is. Thank You Sincerely Dianne Milne (née Eagles).Version: 1.11

Amazing app for family historyThis app is excellent for researching my family tree!.Version: 1.13.1

Amazing volunteers connecting familyThis application is really the best. It is a community of volunteers, working together to memorialize grave markers for everyone! It allows families to connect, by linking, even if they are in different places and provides a causal user benefit if they just want to know who came before them. It allows people to personalize the memorials, add photos, and to- with a small fee- purchase a memorial without ads and unlimited photographs. No other cite is as valuable a resource for helping people who are working on family history. Thank you so much for those who have made it and for those who work so hard to make it wonderful..Version: 1.5.1

New Hobby with real impactI like how I’m able to fill requests by people looking for images of their relatives grave stones. It’s also nice that their is an option to have photos upload once I’m on wifi. There are a few glitches here and there, but nothing that is too bad. Sometimes once I create a grave site, I have to go through and try to find it again in my managed sites to then add a photo / edit info. I highly recommend this app..Version: 1.20

Invaluable Historical ResourceYou could never replace the precious info that's been stored in this Database since it's inception. This App has revolutionized Ancestry, Genealogy, Human & Personal Family studies as well as American History overall. Especially knowledge passed on from generation to generation that will never be found in any publication. Future generations will thank you for this irreplaceable knowledge that will educate and enhance people's lives in unimaginable ways..Version: 1.10.3

Good app but needs request datesI love using the app and taking pics to help out those that want to see a relative’s grave. However the app does not show the date that a request was made, which is a better indicator whether the grave is really there or not than the report a problem function which not everyone uses. Also what would be great is a bookmark tab under each cemetery to refine those that you will attempt to look for into a single easy to reference window for that particular location..Version: 1.5.3

Love this app! This app has come a long way since I started using it. I tell everyone about it and many have never heard of it. I hope others join in to help with photos, but I believe that your photos will have better quality if you carry flowers from one to the other to add color, making it clear to read the headstone..Version: 1.17

Decent app, but some features missingThis is a reasonably good app for performing many of the core functions of the Findagrave site, but a few things are missing. In particular, you cannot view your messages to and from other users. Nor can you send new messages from here in the app. You can suggest edits for a memorial, but you can't view anything about your past edit suggestions. Also, the screen for suggesting edits does not include a slot for edits to the bio. You can get around these limits by tapping on "view memorial on findagrave com" on a memorial, and then navigating within the little web browser that opens up, but in that case you’re better off using your iPad's web browser to go to the site in the first place. Feb 2024. App v 1.21.2.Version: 1.21.2

Great AppLove this App. Gives me something to do while out walking. What would be a great addition to the app would be the a map of sections and plot numbers. This would make graves much quicker to find in bigger cemeteries. Maybe use the GPS data to build a virtual map of the cemeteries so grave locations could be approximated? Thanks for the app.Version: 1.15.2

Great for Creating MemorialsI like using the app to create memorials while walking the rows in my local cemeteries. Adding GPS location data is easy for existing memorials as well. However, the app has numerous bugs that make managing memorials I create difficult: The GPS required icon on the thumbnails will not turn off. If a photo is deleted from a memorial it is deleted from all of the other memorials where it is attached. Filters are ignored when making edits such as show memorials with no plot info, add the plot info and save, the memorial is still in the list..Version: 1.20.1

Fantastic tool!I have been a family archivist, and genealogist for 20, and now a local Historic Commissioner. I’ve used findagrave’s website as a favorite tool forever. Now to have the chance to be on foot geotagging stones, adding memorials, and photos on the app from absolutely anywhere is AMAZING!!!! What an incredible opportunity you give us to share knowledge far and wide with such ease!.Version: 1.13.1

No results for me in the UK!I have found and created memorials, but was surprised that I could not find any records of relatives in the UK! Has anyone else had this issue? I have found records in India and in Australia. I also notice that when I entered surnames with an apostrophie, the apostrophie gets removed when I save the record. Accidently also found that I could fix by using the website, so I have. There is a logical issue with the software that does not allow GPS locations of Church Collumbariums. Please fix as I believe it should be an easy fix. I am sure this must be affecting many people with the number of cremations. Waiting for this to happen!.Version: 1.10.3

Why require iOS 12 on iPhone only? This previously working app stopped working due to a recent change at FamilySearch (I presume). It says an update is required. When I try to update, it requires ios12. Why? I am running iOS 11.4 on both my phone and iPad. The iPad version continues to work and does not require an update or an OS upgrade. And by the way, it is way too early to abandon iOS 11 support. Most apps will maybe not support new features until you upgrade, but it is rare to not offer a few versions with downward compatibility. Shame on your developers for letting this happen..Version: 1.5.6

Fantastic appGreat app, I run an instagram account for grave history so I use this a lot, very helpful and interesting too..Version: 1.16.3

Love this app, but it needs a few tweaks!!!I love this app, but there’s two main problems from making it an even better app. 1. Not everyone is from the U.S.A. It’s taking me ages to get used to putting in dates American style. The app should allow for where in the world you are from, so it will make it easier to transcribe headstones. I’ve nearly made a few mistakes myself, but I triple check myself so if I’m not sure if it’s the day, month or the opposite, especially with low numbers in the days or months. It’s an easy mistake to make. 2. I don’t understand why I have to go onto a browser to check to see who has recently passed away. It really should be in this app, other than that, it’s a great app and easy to use..Version: 1.5.6

Great site but maybe a few improvementsA great idea for reference. You can gain so much information from a headstone. I like to upload photos of graves and can take a few of the same grave if necessary. However, it would be good if you could select more than one photo at a time to upload for the same grave as it’s tedious only having to select one, upload and then add another and having to scroll through you’re photos to select the next..Version: 1.15.2

Great Historical ToolI love this app. I love that you can create relationships to travel the family tree. I wish it had a recents so you don’t have to search someone you were just at that wasn’t attached to their spouse or their child/father or child/mother. I love taking pictures of graves and adding them in because I know I want to see my family and if they’re not in here i want to go and get pictures..Version: 1.17.1

Excellent !Thanks Ancestry for listening to your clients needs!.Version: 1.0

Serial Memorial makersI don’t like these people using my tree to make my family’s memorials. As another Commenter said it’s creepy & some of these people are very rude & unhelpful. If you know the info is incorrect you want it changed. So is documented & some may be because you knew the person & know it’s factual. Knowing you’re owned by ancestry why can’t you make sure that Memorial makers are family members. The woman who got nasty with me is not a family member. She created wrong info for my great great grandmother off of a cousins tree in New Zealand. That guy is by marriage & he will not even change the info on his tree. I have proof of our family & these two are wrong. At least make it easier for us to get our family away from the people..Version: 1.7.1

Great AppHave used this app for some time and is good for reference. Have added info and also photos and found the grave of my uncle through a picture posted by some one else. You need to register and take time to find out how it works..Version: 1.3.28

Great siteThis is a great app. Tons of information to help loved ones find graves. It is super easy to use! I have added my parents & linked them to their siblings in hopes that one day my nieces & nephews will want to visit their grave sites. This will make finding them easy, and provide information that can be lost generation to generation. And, so far it is FREE!.Version: 1.18.2

Great Genealogy AppI have been using Find A Grave for several years and love how helpful it has been in gathering information on my ancestors. Headstones are the source of a wealth of information, including names (and maiden names). Dates of birth, death, marriage. You might find names of children or see other headstones nearby that are relatives. I have become a volunteer photographer and recently my husband and I added 1,300 memorials to small Mexican/Yaqui Indian cemetery. You can help too. Just log in and take a look..Version: 1.10.3

So useful! The best free genealogy resource out there..Version: 1.8

A find it to be good, but...This app fills my needs and I find it very useful. However it DESPERATELY needs an option for default settings. For instance in MY case most of my searches are for Broome County in New York in the United States. I have to select each of those for each search. How about giving us the option to make a default selection for each time we fire up a search? Of course we could re-select something different when THAT need arises. Me, I would default to United States and New York. Or perhaps tweak the app to where the next time you launch it that it pre-selects the same country etc that you selected the previous time? I am really TIRED of having to start from scratch each time. I am dropping my rating from 3 to 2..Version: 1.5.1

Amazing Service! Broken Transcription VolunteeringEDIT 11 July 2023: The "Transcribe" section shows 5 photos, then makes you wait 30 minutes to show 5 new photos. Please fix this so that users can volunteer their time and transcribe as many photos as they want to instead of having to wait 30 minutes for 5 new photos every time. -------------------- This website is an amazing resource for amateur genealogists. I would like to volunteer my time using the "Transcribe" section, but it almost always says "There are no photos available to transcribe." on both the website and the app..Version: 1.19.1

Love this siteReally helps doing my family tree thankyou Jill.Version: 1.21.2

ReviewGood morning this is a wonderful site i am enjoying updating my family graves. Only one issue I have could the site be extended for transfer of graves past 1st cousin as I have Great uncles and aunts ( my grandfather brothers and sisters)that I would love to transfer back to myself. Yours Sincerely Monique Parker ID: #50922864.Version: 1.18.2

A GREAT APPFor example a lot of people know were john f keneddy is buried ,but dont know were lee Harvey oswald is buired were walt disney ashes were laid to rest excellent app 10/10.Version: 1.3.25

Can spend hours without realizing itI really enjoy the application. I do wish you would remove number counts of markers from people. I believe it fosters a competition mindset. As a relative, I find it frustrating the unwillingness to assign graves to direct descendants by many individuals that appear to hold certain cemeteries almost hostage. I would like to maintain my grandparents and other immediate family members held by someone completely unrelated to our family..Version: 1.20.1

Memorial Transfer EnhancementThe app is great and very useful In Genealogy research. One enhancement that I think could be improve the app is to improve the process to request a transfer of a memorial. Typing out the request in a Inscription or bio field seems inefficient and if no one is actively managing the memorial, it is quite the process to have a memorial transferred. Should be a button to request memorial transfer and if not answered in 7-10 days it should auto-transfer..Version: 1.17.1
