✓ Going DownhillI used to use this app all the time. I loved it! Simple, great designs, affordable. Now it’s buggy and they charge more than the product seems to be worth. The cursor is always jumping around and you have to delete an entire section of text back to the beginning if you want to edit something you typed earlier. There are quite a few fonts, but there are only a few categories of some niche styles, so if you don’t want something from one of those five (i think that’s how many) categories you’re out of luck. Doesn’t support moving around to edit, the layers are finicky, some of the features don’t work the way they should and it seems like too often the app freezes and I lose my work. I used to love it, but I’m giving up on it and moving on to something that works a little better. Such a shame..Version: 3.0.1
✓ DisappointingThe app worked fairly well before it was updated, and I was able to complete a project and save it. However, since the update (which I’m now realising is a different app altogether, which I paid for, and will have to pay £4.99 again for if I want a functioning app!) ✓ When outweighs potential.When I first learned about this app I was beyond excited. The elements are fantastic the fonts are beautiful… However it crashes constantly and I cannot use anything up for me to strengthen brand awareness. What is the point of creating such a powerful app if you cannot take advantage of it in the most logical way? Average people are not going to use an app like this to create personal content. This company should really consider switching their model to maybe a different sales structure that would allow them to raise their price while providing the licensing that we want. If the app did not crash and I was able to use it as I please I would be telling everyone about this app. I hope the developers realize they are going to lose more money than they can generate. I would literally pay 4-5x the current rate if I could use the content I created on this app commercially..Version: 3.0.1

✓ Great options but Glitches all the timeI'd like to think that through a progression of updates the glitches and user friendly aspects will greatly improve overtime. I've been using the free version for a while now and decided to upgrade to the full version. I love the variety however the time spent to create a piece is frustratingly at a loss when it can't be saved because the text hasn't followed through. I'd love for a lock image or text in place option as its painstaking to shift the layers as they appear right in the centre. Always room for improvement and I do hope that they keep developing the app otherwise it might end up to be a waste. Stick with the free version till then x.Version: 2.0.3
✓ Easy and eye-catching BUT glitchy on current iOSOld: I haven't paid for any of the packs, but on the free side, creating your own graphics is easy! You can adjust spacing on text, adjust transparency on backgrounds, and choose exact colors. Update: I paid for $4.99 unlock everything option and it was working GREAT until iOS11. When editing text, some of the buttons/tools would disappear. I deleted and re-downloaded the app, but now my previously purchased pack is not part of my app. Waiting for a response and will update my rating again after it’s resolved..Version: 2.0.3
✓ Margins cut off text at final stageWhat’s that about? Poster looks great then proceed to final stage and it moves the margins and cuts off the edges of the text. Then they switched to an overprice subscription service and knocked me back to their regular app which they updated. ✓ Had used the app FOR. YEARS.Then they changed it. I’d purchased a full version a few years ago, because I loved it. It did everything I needed it to do, and I loved it. And then they updated it. They changed the look and how everything worked. AND templates and such that I used uninhibited before are now LOCKED. Because like everything they want you to pay monthly or you get nothing. Some people use apps like these (or like this one was) for pages and posts that don’t get the likes, or views, or activity. I used the app for posts on my page to try to get attention for my writing. I don’t make money off of it. I can’t go around paying monthly to use it. I’m very disappointed that money that was paid before was wasted. I will be deleting the app..Version: 3.0.1
✓ GlitchyI want to give this more stars, I really do, but I’m on my first project and the moment I tell it to save a slide to my photos, the app crashes. It then continues to crash when I try to start another slide, and I have had to delete it and reinstall every time I want to make another one, which deletes my favorites and projects and is tedious. I’m on the 7 day intro trial but will probably cancel and look for another app. Other than repeatedly crashing, I was impressed with the fonts and templates for use. My only other complaint is that I can’t figure out whether/how to move my cursor up to edit text in an existing box. I have to delete everything I’ve written and then rewrite and try to edit as carefully as possible as I go..Version: 3.0.1
✓ A bit glitchyI do very much enjoy this app but find two things wrong with it. Oftentimes when I have spent a lot of time creating a poster, as I want to progress to the next screen it freezes up. The only way to unfreeze it is to close the app, and hence lose all my work. Secondly, when you use your own image as the background, the final poster is quite blurry around the edges of the words. Apart from this it is a great app and I use it every month with my fundraising events..Version: 2.3.3
✓ Great and bad 🙃 Greedy developers with monthly feesHas incredible potential but can’t be used for anything commercial??? Also as a design tool lacks basic feature....mainly. Opacity/transparency slider. You can’t adjust the opacity of any elements...Why!!? I would gladly pay for the app (expensive) but still, if I had ability to change opacity of elements...and I could use them for my website (which is commercial). Sad. Almost an amazing design tool Eventually developers will realize that the monthly model of sales won’t work long term. The greed will kill them. Instead of making a fair amount of profit and updating. The developers all lock us out of what we paid for them expecting us to pay monthly. ✓ This app desperately needs some bug fixing and regular maintenanceThis app is at the moment only barely usable for me on my up to date and most recent generation of iPhone 5s... I am even considering paying the very reasonable cost of 5$ to unlock everything...however, I have used and then been burned every single time I have used this app, sometimes after spending literally hours working on getting something JUST right, only to have the app crash every single time I go to save my creation. After the fourth time I had to throw in the towel and delete the app and I am usually loathe to leave bad reviews of anything, but I am hoping that this is not just a me issue and that the problem will be fixed soon if enough people review and bring the problem to the developer’s attention. ✓ CumbersomeI had the original Vanillapen poster app that I downloaded 3-4 years ago. I paid for the advanced version probably 2 years ago. I found it a fairly pleasant app to work with and worth the $3 or $4 I paid for the upgrade. THEN, an update rolled through several months ago. A COMPLETE OVERHAUL that turned the poster app into a DESIGN APP. Where’d my $4 investment go? Because suddenly I’ve got a very different app that wants a monthly fee for more stuff. Which is cool stuff, granted, but I’m not paying $4.99 per MONTH to use it. The app also freezes and crashes frequently. I do find it has become a bit more cumbersome to use than the original Vanillapen poster app. I also notice that there is what appears to be the previous Vanillapen poster app in the store but it wants $4.99 to download. Also spent around 3 hours on 1 piece, saved it into my projects and was very happy with it. ✓ No-Longer-A-VanillaPen UserThe app is extremely inflexible in the free version, moving a custom picture to different parts of the screen should be a general user feature, adding multiple pictures (for example logos) onto one poster should be allowed as well. I cannot comprehend why this is not a general feature. I shall now stop wasting my time describing why this app was extremely unsatisfactory, and move on to the next probably very disappointing poster making app. Danke VanillaPen for leaving a very "grungey" taste in my mouth, and goodbye. ✓ This app is going downhill.My second review... Recently this app had an update. I was so ready for some of the major issues to be fixed but unfortunately nothing seemed to have changed. You cannot copy and paste text, which is a huge problem for this kind of design app. I asked for this to be fixed, but so far it’s not, even after a new update. Also, I had purchased/paid for this app several months ago, and now that it has been redesigned, I can no longer restore my purchase (the restore feature doesn’t work now). We are expected to subscribe to use most of the content. Subscribing is fine, except for those of us who had already paid for the app previously... ✓ Decent editing app - if it didn’t crash and take you edits with itJust like the title states, this is a versatile editing app with tons of features. You can create a poster/flier/ and probably even album cover using this app. However, it has a terrible tendency to crash and take your edits with it. Leaving you to start your project over again. I recommend taking a screen shot before trying to export because that’s usually when it gets hung up for me. Even still, it’ll get hung up on other random operations. ✓ Horrible and full of bugsYou can’t copy/paste into the text box, and if you use this for prose or poetry it gets frustrating to have to type it all out through the app, especially since there’s no word-wrap. You can’t move the cursor to change/delete a word, you have to delete everything in the way. You can’t use this to profit, so if you used this app to create poetry WITH YOUR OWN PHOTOS you can’t sell them. It crashes all the time and the text and background become misaligned when you save. ✓ Great but lacking some important features!I love the designs this app allows you to make. I use it to make ads for my music classes. The only problem for me is that there is no saving option so if you start working on a project you have to commit to finish it right away or you'll lose everything and will have to start over. ✓ How the Great have Fallen...I used to love this app. It worked smoothly and a one time reasonable payment allowed me to unlock all the backgrounds they had. I used it all the time. But now they switched everything to a subscription based program and refuse to give grandfathered access to all the backgrounds I paid for previously (you wanna restrict new content fine. I get that. No qualms there. But let me use what I paid for). Also, the new app is SUPER glitchy and has been basically since launch. Each and every time I try to make a project I have to restart it minimum 5 times because the app stops functioning. Often times more. And don’t bother emailing customer service for help. ✓ Adds a logo at the last stageThere are quite a few UI issues with this app. The main one being where my text would not resize properly but would shrink a little when I tried. Eventually it got so small it simply disappeared. The very annoying thing is the Vanillapen logo that suddenly appears when you're ready to publish your work. I get that this company needs to make money and they try to incentivise this by adding a logo/watermark until you pay. This has been standard practice for many years with creative software. What isn't standard though is that the logo appears AFTER you've finished your design and invested time in your work and that you don't know it's going to happen. This is a downright con. Someone probably patted themself on the back for that genius idea but it's as much of a con as airlines adding a service charge after you've already selected the flights you want. Add the logo from the start or remove it completely please..Version: 2.0.3
✓ Destroyed a Great AppThey redesigned this app so much that it’s really difficult to figure out what to do with it. It’s like they put a 20-year-old in charge of the design without having any real world experience they removed labeling you supposed to sit there and poke around until you figure out where are the options are to design things. Who has time for that?? I know I don’t. Very annoying and still not working right. Type that’s increased in size in a paragraph constantly gets cut off - even with small phrases. In addition, sometimes the app becomes touch sensitive and edits the wring text. The functionality of the app is very easy to use overall. ✓ Horrible serviceI recently purchased the full app. It got deleted from my phone and when I went to restore the purchase it wouldn't do it. I have e-mailed them and had no response. I am very frustrated with the service. As far as the app it was also disappointing. I would place something and go to save it and the words would move or the banner would move on top of my words so you couldn't see them. It was very frustrating. ✓ Locked what I paid forTo whoever is reading this I am having a issue because I purchased the full on access you guys had before this new update. I log in after a little while of not using it and it’s all new and everything is free but when I try to restore my account purchase it says there isn’t any. So my question to you guys is there a way you guys can resolve this issue ? And if not a refund of some sort because it’s not fair again I purchased the full access to your app and I haven’t used it in a little while I just got on today and restore my purchases and I see the app has a nice update but it’s telling me I have no purchases and I did purchase it back like 2-3 years ago when your app was fairly new ..... one minute I’m using everything the next it’s gone and can’t be restored so I have to buy it again ??.Version: 3.0.1
✓ Great but....I love this app it's so fun and easy to make pictures. But recently it has been doing something very annoying😕. Once I'm finished with editing a picture and push the next screen it will show up without the words I put on the picture then when I go back the words are distorted and in the wrong place😑😣. And it is getting really annoying because it takes me forever on the picture and then I can't even save it🙄. Plus it only does it on some pictures🤔 like I can do one picture and then the next one just deletes the words I put on the picture!!!!! PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!!!!.Version: 2.0.3

✓ Used to be amazing, now I am frustrated.I have used this app for years to make simple graphics to use with my students or in my classroom. I paid for it because I loved it so much! Unfortunately after the update that happened sometime in February/March I can no longer access the templates I paid for. I could understand if it were only new templates that I couldn’t access (since they’ve switched to a subscription format) BUT about 2/3 of the templates I can no longer use I PAID for. And I know because I still have several that I can no longer use saved on my phone, used as recently as February 10 of this year. I am frustrated and would love to speak with someone in support about this. This used to be one of my favorite apps. Now I get mad every time I open it..Version: 3.0.1
✓ Great, but allows you to lose progress too easilyHad spend ages making something, the slip of a finger & all lost with no option to recover. Very frustrating. Also Inability to zoom in, is extremely annoying. Some script you just can’t see properly & no way to know if you’ve spelt correctly because you can’t zoom..Version: 2.3.3
✓ I LOVE THE APPSoooo much potential. I downloaded the app for my graphic design business . I came to write a review about how good it could be if you could add shadows and change the opacity, when I started reading reviews I realized you couldn’t use it for profit. Literally what’s the point of the app? I love this app it’s so much better than the other app I was using besides those two problems and I wish you’d just make us pay instead of saying we can’t use for profit. Thumbs down.Version: 3.0.1
