Too many coding apps have jumped on the building-block bandwagon which I personally find frustrating. This app maintains the feel of traditional programming and gives fun challenges to keep kids interested. ✓ Great app!I just got this app like yesterday, but so far it’s working great! I haven’t experienced any crashing, and it’s super fun! I was looking for another coding game and swift playgrounds caught my eye. I looked at it and got the app. So much fun! Swift playgrounds is definitely one of a kind! I liked how the main screen was translucent and I could kinda see the Home Screen. I also thought that the way all the playgrounds are in an app format was pretty neat, though I have one question that I had from the app format. When you download a playground, does it take up iCloud space? Other than that question, this app is totally recommended, some levels easy, some hard and the game is so easygoing. ✓ Awesome app for swift codingThis app is helping me learn a LOT about swift. I’m about to get Xcode on my computer so I REALLY need to learn swift and this app is teaching me everything I need to know for Xcode. The only bug I found was that sometimes the app crashed when I wrote a really long function and a visual error where if you find one of those arched holes inside the island (where water usually comes out from) you can see clear out the other side even though the other side appears solid. I know it’s not that big of a bug, but can you please consider fixing it? I’m just paranoid that it will show up somewhere and I won’t be able to get around it. Otherwise, GREAT app..Version: 3.0

✓ Perfect for those with slight learning difficulties.I really love this app! Already completed the first set of lessons and although was stuck a few times, I took a break then tried again a bit later and go it. I do have some learning difficulties, and when I tried to learn coding at a TAFE course I wasn’t understanding it at all, and so dropped out. Now with this app, with how it illustrates things I have gained a much better and easier understanding of coding and how it works. So I definitely recommend this for anyone who has learning difficulties. It’s important though not to rush through it. Taking a break now & then really helps. I only wish this app was also available for Macbook and iMac, as the app seems to drain the battery on my iPad a bit and I normally don’t plug it into a powerpoint while I’m using it. ✓ FantasticSome of the reviews here seem to be nit picking. This is a ridiculously good app. It’s free and it’s a very clever way to gently introduce programming concepts. It’s quite good fun and it is addictive. You can either ‘play it as a game’ or use it as a teaching aid. It even crashes now and again under your programming concoctions....which just goes to show that in a sense it is ‘real’. The actual programming language may be limited to iOS but the principles are fairly general. Apple even make the 600 page manual available for free....but that’s pretty heavy reading by comparison and expects a knowledge of programming. Hat off to apple for developing this, it REALLY deserves more than the ‘3.8’ it currently scores!.Version: 3.3

I have ran into some problems with having to re-open my project to get changes to graphics items and some data structures to update and reflect changes. Sometimes errors cause an occasional crash. ✓ AmazingThis app is truly amazing and I applaud Apple for their initiative in releasing it. I've completed Part 1 and am very impressed with the lesson structure. If you're going to be doing a college programming course, I would use this app first as the instructions are first class and I don't think you'll find better. Minor improvements would be to have the hints available for viewing after completing a lesson. If I complete a lesson without them, I'd still like to look at them. Without this fantastic FREE app from amazing Apple it would be very very difficult for me to learn how to code and to get incremental feedback in a friendly fun way. If you want extra guidance you may benefit from downloading the FREE Swift Playgrounds eBook for iBooks. It is designed for teachers and gives an overview of each lesson, and also has Keynote slides to skim through. When some of the lessons were just too difficult for me I searched YouTube and nice friendly coders around the world had posted their solutions. It helped me get around an impasse, learn great code from others, and then reuse that code when I encounter similar challenges in the future. Thanks Apple! You're amazing!.Version: 1.1.2

✓ Wonderfully Motivating!As a previous reviewer mentioned, this app takes the dullness out of learning how to program. Even as an adult, I am able to enjoy this learning process. I was an amateur programmer in high school, so I believe that for me to say this is a wonderful way to learn and/or brush up your basics for programming logic is quite a statement for what the developers have created. The team who created this executed the interface in a very intuitive design; something I find quite uncommon with these "learn to program" apps. ✓ Great resource but...If you install the app on ios 11.3, have iCloud drive on, and find that it won’t load any templates then do the following: 1. uninstall the app 2. turn off iCloud drive 3. reinstall the app 4. you should find the templates load ok 5. turn iCloud drive back on I know the app worked before 11.3 and only found this workaround by searching google.
