✗ Depends on your needsIf you need a pixel-accurate rendering of a .pub doc on a Mac using Pages or LibreOffice, this isn’t going to do it. If you want all the content and a reasonable attempt at the layout of a .pub in Word or LibreOffice format, for archiving, indexing, cutting and pasting, or other uses that don’t depend on a perfect reproduction, this could be very handy. I tried converting a simple 12-page document into odt, docx, and doc formats, then opening in LibreOffice and/or Pages 5. Pages refused to open the docx version, though LibreOffice had a good go. The ODT, doc, and docx files loaded fine in LibreOffice (with quite a few annoying layout problems due to differences in image handling and wrapping). The doc file loaded ok into Pages 5, though the lack of linked text boxes meant that pages 3-9 were empty. Mostly I kept coming up against differences between the way Publisher handles images and text and the way LibreOffice and Pages do. Page vs paragraph anchoring for images, wrapping (both line end wrapping and text wrapping round images and frames), and linked text-boxes all caused grief. I’m not sure how much is due to fundamental differences between Publisher (or any dedicated DTP software) and word processors with limited image handling and page layout facilities, and how much is due to limitations in the app. Enough of the content and layout were preserved for me to see what the original document should have looked like, which is a good start..Mike WyerVersion: 1.0
