British Airways for iPad for Negative User Reviews

A complete waste of time…This is the first time I’ve been ‘moved’ to write a review! What is the point of having this app separate to the iPhone app. All this does is book flights and nothing else? Now I need to use two apps?? Clearly I don’t and just use the iPhone app as it does everything to manage your account, flights etc. A truly pointless app which is a waste of money BA!! Save your money and just have an iPad version of the iPhone app. People are well capable of navigating the iPhone app and do everything they need / want to do!.Version: 2.11

Useless mistakeNew Upgrade opens with a nifty graphic, “We’ve changed.” I’ll say you have. You’ve invested a lot of money into changing your app into something completely useless. Nearly all functionality was lost. Was this a mistake? Did you reapportion your IT team to replace striking flight crews? I presume your website still functions, but your competitors’ apps and fares will suffice for me..Version: 2.1

InoperableNow does not work on iPad Pro since their most recent “upgrade”..Version: 2.0

The most useless app!All of the functionality and information has gone! I just had an email from BA about an upcoming flight and it says “Keep up to date with your destination’s entry requirements, including COVID-19 testing and quarantine rules. Download our app. And make sure you have enough face masks for your trip. Sorting everything out now, will let you concentrate on the really important things… like looking forward to good things to come” But all you can do now is book a flight on the App. Someone should tell the marketing department that their App has absolutely no information on it at all. I assume it was designed by someone’s child as a GCSE Computing Project - I’m afraid a Grade 1 would be a little ambitious..Version: 2.8

A waste of timeHave recently used the BA iPhone app a few times for booking, checking points, tracking flights etc. and have found useful and well designed. I was surprised when I downloaded the iPad version to find it so much worse, it seems to be an unfinished piece of software with one page limited to flight bookings. There is even a label in the middle of the booking page titled ‘Label” which cannot be interacted with and seems to serve no purpose. You cannot access past bookings or track flights. Does no one in BA sign off apps before they go public?.Version: 2.11

GroundedTaking a balanced view, this app is a really, really backward move. On the positive side, it offers an easy, step-by-step way to book a flight within a ‘clean’ UX/UI environment. But that’s it! The total limit of its functionality (for now?), is to make booking new flights easy. It offers NO member facilities for accessing your booked, upcoming flights, claiming missing reward miles, account details, timeline etc., indeed ANY of the really useful frequent traveller tools that were standard - and still are - on the mobile app or previous iPad version. I’d like to think this is just Stage 1 of more functionality to come, but if that’s the case, BA demonstrate they are just as inept at giving customers details about their online services as they so often are in other areas of their corporate communications. For such a big, well funded, company, their record and reputation in the public’s view is rapidly becoming a liability. And in their celebratory Centenary year - such a shame for a great British company. 2/10..Version: 2.0

Dear BA - please read your reviews - it may be painful but usefulBA took a fully functional app for iPad and destroyed it. Unfortunately there was no way to give this a zero star review but I would have liked to. The prior app - and the current app for iphone - allow for multiple tasks: reviewing account balances, already booked trips including seating, as well as flight booking. This new app - just flight booking and nothing more. This is a terrible redesign. Please make it multifunctional again. If that is not possible then scrap it for the prior version until you can come up with a new model that is worthy of your customers - and your brand..Version: 2.4

Credit card fraudI have reason to believe my credit card was compromised using this app. I downloaded the app, used it as a “guest” and made a ticket transaction for which I was given a phone verification apparently by my credit card company. Then nothing. Phoned credit card company - there was no transaction. Phoned British Airways - no transaction. Credit card cancelled..Version: 2.16

This app is worthless. When I found out al, I could do was book a new flight, I put down my iPad and went to my iMac. Absolutely worthless..Version: 2.15

This should NOT have been launchedI came here to check if my iPad was playing tricks on me, but no, BA have actually managed to hugely backward app to replace their full functionality app!! Absolutely astounding go-to-market skills. I would honestly fire the delivery team. I understand that booking used to go out to the full website so it’s now been freshly rewritten into the app, probably making it quicker, but if the rest of the existing functionality could not have been incorporated with the ticket booking as yet, then it should not have been launched as it would render the app absolutely useless. Deleted the app as I can’t see how it will serve any purpose at all.Version: 2.2

The Worst Airline IPad App by a Wide MarginAt first you are convinced you must be doing something wrong. The app can’t possibly be this bad. Over time, you will learn that you can’t navigate anywhere in this app. It is truly the worst iPad app ever launched by any large company. Hard to understand the lack of quality control that went into the release of this. Please don’t make the mistake of bothering to download it..Version: 2.5

TerriblePrevious version could track and manage bookings via booking reference number. This version only handles BA members who sign in. Completely useless for non-members like me..Version: 1.6

Why even bother creating a partially useful appI booked my trip, then went to check it and add more info, only to discover this app is a one-trick-pony. It can ONLY do bookings. That’s it. Nothing more. It can’t even manage my Avios points correctly..Version: 2.15

Not user friendly at allIt is very very frustrating to use your website. You enter multi destination route on which BA normally fly but when you click for route quote it jumps back asking you to enter information again and again. Shear waste of time and very frustrating. A company like BA must fix this problem. I’ve never been able to make simple bookings on your website. I always had to call the BA customer service to make bookings. And yet same routes are booked by calling without any problems but then you pay additional charges for not booking online. Unfortunately your online is not suitable to make bookings. Please fix these simple problems..Version: 2.5

Giant step backwardsCan only book flights now. all useful features have been removed. is this a taste of the future with BA?.Version: 2.1

PointlessI downloaded the iPhone app on the iPad to manage an existing booking and it told me there was an iPad version. Great, I thought. I’ll use that. I deleted the iPhone version whilst the iPad version installed. Imagine my surprise when presented with a one liner asking me where I want to go - and absolutely nothing else, even when clicking around. What a waste of time!.Version: 2.15

The worst airline app everThe app is absolutely useless - flights are often missing, reservations changes dont update and reminders often refer to flights that were cancelled weeks previously. Check in usually fails and as for making a reservation..... Even flight status info is often missing and BA has an interesting concept of punctuality. A flight that goes 5 minutes before schedule is proudly listed as early but one 14 minutes after scheduled is on time! BA has a well deserved reputation for really lousy, inadequately tested IT but this takes the prize..Version: 2.3

Absolute RubbishWhat is the point of this app? It does nothing but book flights. I can’t look up any account information. Useless. If I could give zero stars I would. Do better with your record profits!! How about giving it the same functionality as the iPhone app or your website? I guess that is too hard for your developers..Version: 2.15

Completely uselessWhat is BA’s reaction to having a large screen and a comfortable keyboard to type on? Give no functionality whatsoever, no ability to see any account details and a giant screen of blank space. I don’t know what was going through their head when they designed this app but it is completely useless. Hey BA, maybe sometimes we don’t want to book a brand new flight and maybe do some management of the flights and our account that we already have? Ridiculous..Version: 2.6

Latest update just stuck on black screenDo yourself a favour, uninstall this crock of fetid piece of rotten pus, and install the iPhone version instead. Start the app, it shows BA logo, and then.... nothing. Black screen only. Stop outsourcing your development and QA to VP’s nephew, hire someone with a clue to fix this, please!.Version: 2.3

Ba iPad appRubbish! I can only book a flight and see my total miles. I have gone back to using the phone version which works perfectly well on an iPad.Version: 2.7

Useless piece of junk!Having previously had an app with good functionality, BA have now ‘upgraded’ it to something which is about as useful as a chocolate teapot! Having spent some time trying to navigate to other pages, I realised the only facility this new version offers is flight booking; no viewing booked flights, no manage my booking, no adding API. This app demonstrates how out of touch BA is with modern-day customer needs and digital functionality development. If the design objective was to frustrate the hell ot of users, well congratulations, mission accomplished. If I could award a zero star - or even a minus star - review I would do so..Version: 2.1

This app seems to be only only for booking a new flightCan’t make Changes, can’t check current and upcoming bookings - can’t see history. Not sure what the point is unless they are coming up with another app that does what this one used to be capable of..Version: 2.11

I want to give a half starThis app is the worst one I have never seen. It has only one function, to book flight. I want an app that can do more. I want to use the app that I can check flight, see my booking, manage my booking, check in ……. Unfortunately it has nothing except book a flight..Version: 2.8

What was once a useful app now is useless !!The previous version had loads of good features. But is now just browser of flights and prices..Version: 2.3

Flight booking ONLY; everything else has gone!BA what have you done?!! I use my iPad to manage my bookings “on the go” as I have a ‘keyboard case’, so typing is so much easier and faster than on my phone. You offered me the “BA for iPad” app, so I thought great; I will be able to do it in landscape instead of having to rearrange my iPad screen and work from the phone sized image. But alas my excitement was short lived; this app is NOT what is “says on the tin”; please give us a PROPER “BA for iPad” app, or at the very least, rename this one “BA flight booking for iPad”..Version: 2.8

Go back to the regular appI thought I’d replace the British Airways app on my iPad with this new one that is supposedly designed just for the iPad. Mistake. After opening this one and logging on you come to a screen asking your destination. That’s it. No other option than to book a flight. No navigation to check existing trips or do any of the things offered in the regular iPhone app. Why would anyone want their iPad app? Why did they send me an email recommending that I install this version “designed for the iPad”?!?.Version: 2.15

Absolutely functionless besides buying a flight.Just use iPhone version until they actually put some content into this, Zero access to my avions account, pas bookings etc. Ba website is far more useful. This is just a full screen pieces of pap. It should be removed until fully functional 1 star is generous..Version: 2.15

My worst app experienceI have never reviewed an app before but felt compelled to feed back on this one. I would not recommend the iPad version of this app at all - especially if you are an executive member. No option to book reward flights or use companion voucher - just provides the most basic summary without any further options- can’t even see activity / transactions. I didn’t think the iPhone version of the app was amazing but in comparison to the iPad version, it is! Don’t know why they didn’t just adapt that to a bigger screen! 👎🏼👎🏼.Version: 2.14

No longer usefulThe latest update removed all functionality aside from booking flights. I’m no longer able to keep track of my bookings or check into a flight with the iPad app..Version: 2.0

Terrible! What is the point of this app? I thought I would be able to view and manage my flights thought this app, but it only lets me book flights. Why on earth they would not have functionality to manage existing bookings I will never know… Don’t even bother with it - save the memory on your iPad for some extra photos or whatever….Version: 2.12

Poor....Very poor. When I wanted to email my boarding pass the app completely screwed up the layout and overlayed the typing spaces with multiple other things so i could barely find where i needed to be to write an email address. The app also had my iPad so frozen that i had to do a reboot to be able to use the ipad again. The app also would not go into portrait mode, was far too busy with images and information, and did not use the full keyboard of the ipad pro 12.9. The older iphone version of the app i used to have was much better..Version: 1.4

Useless app. Horrible UI/UXOpen the app and it only gives you the option to search for a new booking. Frustrating, I’m only here to check on an existing booking… Finally I put in a generic city and can see my name/details in the top right. Click on that, no option to see existing bookings. Useless app..Version: 2.15

UselessWhy discard the previous app for one that ONLY books flights. I can do that elsewhere more quickly and efficiently. If you want me to you your app, make it full service. Otherwise people can just book on Expedia, et al — you know, the companies that you have to PAY for each ticket they issue. Smart business move..Version: 2.0

I never write review but I had to say how awful this is.Wow. What is the point? I want to see my booked flights and flight details, this just allows you to book a flight. Who needs a separate app for that? Useless, and such a waste of time to download and sign in, just to realize all I can do with it is book a flight. After many flight changes I wanted to check the latest itinerary as my email is flooded with changes. Can’t do that with this app- only allows you to book new flights..Version: 2.12

1 year on and no improvementI take no satisfaction from this, having travelled BA as the primary carrier for many years, but “what are you thinking?” Just downloaded the latest update to the app and still can’t look at anything other functionality for making a new booking. No capability for looking at my current bookings. All the reviews from 1 year ago said the same thing and yet BA has not listened to the honest complaints and constructive comments of its users. This is similar to the occasional BA surveys. ‘Please let us know if you’re willing to be contacted to follow up your comments’ - tick ‘yes’ then nothing happens! We want you to succeed but you need to show you are listening..Version: 2.8

Manage my booking? Check Avios? Forget it!How did this happen? I fly about three times a month on BA so I know how to make booking online. Why does this new app assume that’s what I want to do? I also used my iPad to check and use Avios, routinely manage my bookings, look at city breaks and rewards etc. Now the landing page throws me straight onto a flight booking form. No tabs to other functionality, no back-buttons and it doesn’t even remember who I am. On a recent flight one of the cabin crew asked me how I liked the coffee so I told her it was very poor quality. She then told me she was from ‘Head Office’ but was out in the field to get a feel for customers’ on board experience. When I told her that we had been flying this route for 14+ years and now find the general BA standards on a par with budget carriers she told me how often she heard the same reports. She added that she had worked on the Concorde service when BA was probably the best airline in the sky but it is now at a very low ebb and sinking fast. She hoped that things would get better soon! This app reflects BA’s fall from grace perfectly: worse than ever before..Version: 2.3

BadAppDont bother this is so dumbed down its virtually useless!.Version: 2.4

WretchedUseless. Open it and it goes to a booking screen with no way to navigate to other features like my current booking or seat assignments or account information. I’ll just delete it. Maybe they will create a new one. A big disappointment since I use my iPad for everything. EDB.Version: 2.16

RidiculousI don’t want to BOOK a flight, I want to retrieve a booking. WTH?.Version: 2.6

Absolutely Disaterous‼️It appears the only thing you can do on this app is book a flight. And even then, if you want to fly to Berlin, it doesn’t appear to know that Tegal Airport closed on November 8, 2020 after the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport opened and it offers both as an option. It lacks all the other functionality that’s available in their iPhone app, such as changing you password. It’s shocking that a company with the reputation BA has—or used to have—would put something as bad as this into production. I’s not even worth the one star I gave it..Version: 2.15

This app is uselessAt a time when people are increasingly using and depending upon apps, this app is distinctly useless. I was prompted to download this app for the iPad only to find that I can only search flights to make, and nothing else. I cannot manage present bookings, or anything is use. It is odd that you have created a useless app..Version: 2.5

Are you crazy? When you had the team meeting to discuss your app update did you set specific objectives to make sure the redesign was as useless as possible? How do I see the flights I have already booked? How do I see the details of my account? Did you ask you chief exec to trial the app? Did you pay the team that designed the app? Seriously. I’m curious. I just cannot see how an organisation can be so inept. This will make a really good business school case study. You might want to consider pulling this app, replacing with the old one, telling the team involved to go a really nice offsite and think about what they have done. ALWAYS get the chief exec to try using the app or website to buy the product for which he or she is responsible before you launch said app or website..Version: 2.1

Incredibly poor experience on phone and iPadIncredibly frustrating experience on iPhone and iPad. Have been booking online with BA for years and historically found the experience good. Have recently had to revert to booking BA flights through Expedia as the only way to get the bookings confirmed. On 2 recent (but separate)bookings using the app we paid a fee to change the seats, had the mobile banking app confirm the payment had been taken and then the seat change wasn’t recognized in the app. Have been a loyal BA customer for decades so extremely disappointed..Version: 2.15

Profiles not savedHi BA Team My app doesn’t want to store my login. Is this a “feature” or a “bug”? Thanks.Version: 2.12

Wow, some of these appalling reviews are two years old, are you not listening to your customersI can’t believe it, I was so chuffed to see an iPad app and downloaded it after using continuously the iPhone app, I saw a couple of the reviews and thought, no! It can’t be that bad, must be at least as useful as the iPhone. To say I was disappointed is an understatement, completely misses the point. Worse than that, BA aren’t listening to what their customers really want and that is appalling and extremely arrogant. I have since deleted the app, ten minutes of my life I cannot get back…..Version: 2.11

GarbageReplaced quite a decent app with this entirely useless one. Completely brainless by BA..Version: 2.4

What have you done ?!This has managed to ruin my BA experience ....all the information about past flights, present flights and general information you need when you fly including being able to check in seems to have completely disappeared ...very little if indeed any info is displayed regarding frequent flyer status Completely centred around buying a new flight for new customers and no info relating to general BA usage ....your app makers should be ashamed and you should be ashamed to allow this carnage to be your portal ...shameless and useless Stop changing things for the sake of changing things and give your customers what they need not the hard sell ...this does not work at all.Version: 2.0

Left me confused and frustratedGot a new iPad recently. When setting it up, I went to the App store ; this appeared to be the correct app to install. I could not be more mistaken. I thought I was doing something wrong until I seen other reviews. I cannot find my current bookings or anything. This is a total waste of space. BA , I know your are struggling financially as a result of the COVID crisis but I hope you did not actually pay a developer for this app! Get a grip BA, you are supposed be be the Worlds favourite airline; or am I living in the past?.Version: 2.11

What’s the point of this app? After downloading the BA mobile app on my iPad, I was prompted to install this BA for iPad app. To my surprise, I discovered that all one can do with this is search for and book a flight. I couldn’t manage my current booking, obtain my boarding pass, check Avios or do any of the tasks normally available through an airline app. I just don’t get the point of it. I immediately uninstalled this, and re-downloaded the mobile app. Although the latter doesn’t fill my iPad screen, at least it’s not as useless as the one for iPad. Wheel and come again, BA..Version: 2.4

What. The. Hell?Seriously British Airways? Was this a joke? Some in-house marketing department dare that you guys could actually put out an app that not only is utterly useless for managing flights, but directly pisses off your most valued Gold Tier members? It’s been months now since this abomination of programming was released. Somebody pay off the bet, hahaha we get it, then pull this garbage and replace with your ‘actual’ app. You have one, right? RIGHT?.Version: 2.5

Typical BA not listeningTypical BA not listening to or caring about customers. Did we say we didn’t want to be able to recline in Club Europe ? Did we say we didn’t want to be able to view current bookings, or see past flights credited to our accounts or other Exec Club details? Why take all this functionality away?.Version: 2.2

Such Promises,Sadly executed by a team who has not realised how far app development has come in the past 10 years. If this app had been developed when Smartphone and tablet first came out it would have been a great app, it is that far behind. Downloaded the app for IPad, but could not find how log into my account. It does not appear to be there. Fairly easy to book a flight, but a little confused why all the or there expensive flights not operated by BA and going all over the place came up first instead of my direct cheap flight to Scandinavia? Why would I spend 7 to 10 hours travelling at 4 to 5 times the cost to do a 2 hour direct flight? Well I booked my flight, using this app, then logged into my account to find my flight, only to be told they cant find it in my account????? If you are going to develop apps for different platforms, at least make sure the account can be linked. Did your develop team not look at previous apps and website? If this was a team on the TV “apprentice programme” you would be fired, and it would not be a black taxi to take you away, it would be a mini bus!.Version: 2.3

IPad app is worse than uselessReally wanted this app to work. The British Airways iPhone app is much better. With this iPad app I can log in but do nothing else. I cannot view my booked flights to get any details and neither can I search for new flights. What is the point of this if it doesn’t perform either of its primary tasks? Updated two days ago but still doesn’t work. BA should be ashamed of themselves releasing an app this bad..Version: 2.13

RegressionAs with other reviews I agree that this app is a regression. For a major player such as BA to have an app that only has one function, to sell tickets, just doesn’t make sense. Whoever thought that this was a good idea should be sent back to kindergarten and learn the basics all over again. If I could give it less than one star I will would..Version: 2.5

Awful - useless a zero star if I couldWhen I suddenly couldn't see the same stuff as I had previously and could still see on my iPhone app, just a booking interface, I assumed the app had frozen or I had done something stupid, but not me but BA! I concur with all the other comments. I also agree with the other comments about poor customer service especially if there is ever an issue or complaint and their response to them but also occasionally on board. I flew EasyJet from Spain during the BA pilot strike as my flight was cancelled and the whole experience was very good- better than BA economy and even occasional poor business service on the same route which we fly frequently. My husband is 10 years Gold and I am Silver but when he retires we don't think we will maintain the loyalty to BA - it is not rewarded..Version: 2.4

This app is literally pointless. This app performs the singular task of booking a flight. This could easily be completed, at far less expense, with a web app. What a gigantic waste of resources and time. Whoever made the decision to publish this application to the App Store should be ashamed of themselves. Also Apple should remove it for failing to comply with App functionality requirements..Version: 2.11

Horrendous appLiterally no point to it. You can’t do anything. The purpose behind an app is to provide a better experience to that offered on the website. I can’t see my account, can’t look at inspiration, can’t see offers, cheap flights or destinations bookings. I get what this was trying to do, a simple booking journey, but it forces you down one journey when users may have many ways to book a flight. Will be just going to the website in safari now, or pick up my phone instead, or maybe open the Virgin Atlantic app which is actually good..Version: 2.4

TerribleI don’t understand why they did away with all the useful functionality. You can’t see flight status, your account avios or tier points, etc. I also miss the nice “my flights” screen where you could check the different legs of your flight and check in. I was sure it was a mistaken release and they would fix with an update, but so far they haven’t. I now have to go through safari to see what had worked well on iPad..Version: 2.0

What are you doing? As many many of the other reviews have remarked, this app is utterly useless. I have now removed it and use the iPhone one instead. This appears to have been designed for someone who travels once maybe twice a year. If you used the previous app to look at upcoming bookings or anything to do with your reward points, you and your custom have been completely ignored. Why? Surely you should be looking after those of us who provide the backbone to your business. I travel a lot. Using one airline for the majority of my travel makes sense and you do go to most destinations. But, if ever a competitor starts to offer a similar service, you will be out of business pretty quickly. Easy Jet are getting closer........Version: 2.1

Only flight bookings, nothing elseAll you can do with this app is book a flight. You can’t look up or modify an existing reservation, check in, etc. The only logic I can imagine behind this is they thought “If you have an iPad, you can do all that from Safari”—but you can buy flights there too. So, what’s the point?.Version: 2.4

Why bother offering an app that always errors out?No matter what combination of flights I chose, the app errors out! Totally useless. Fix it or take it off the App Store !.Version: 2.5

UselessWhy would BA release such a useless app. Nada. The absolute only thing it does is ask you for a destination you want to travel to. Then nothing. I thought it may be a result of bad Wi-Fi but nope, it’s just useless..Version: 2.14

A Very Public FailureFor a national flag carrier this app is a very public embarrassment. If the ageing negative app reviews don’t present a story, trying to use the app does. When a company that has nothing other than brand recognition left to trade on, produces an iPad app to attract customers; it should ensure it’s useable. After upgrades the app still will not you login - leaving you with a “something went wrong, we’re working on it” message for over a year and half. Reinstallation's do not work, installing on numerous iPads, brand new iPad and contacting support does not work. It’s understandable why people leave reviews on here of bad experiences with the airline itself rather than app that does not work..Version: 2.14

Awful - the designer of this app should be embarrassedProbably one of the worst user experiences I have ever seen on an iPad - totally and utterly incompetent. BA overall has a major navigation user experience across ALL it’s platforms - PC, phone, IPads etc. Web design is poor, not intuitive. BA - we have MUCH better UI and s/ware designers available, you can AND MUST do better!!!.Version: 2.0

Useless - don’t bother downloadingFor booking only - was directed to this app from the iPhone app thinking it would have the same functionality as other airlines’ apps - forget it folks.Version: 2.4

An awful updateThis ‘new’ version is horrible. I regret updating. Give us back the previous app..Version: 2.0

Terrible app that does nearly nothingSee my bookings? No. Change existing flight? No. Flight status ? No. Pick my seat? No. Check in for flight? No. Are you kidding me? Don’t waste your time. This app can only make a new booking. That’s it. Keep using the website or the phone app..Version: 2.15

Not for meThere doesn't seem to be any provision for multi-city flights. I'll just use their website..Version: 1.6

There should be a zero star rating. What a terrible app. I was frustrated with my British Airways app because it never worked properly and didn't have enough account information. I saw this BA app for iPad, and I thought-great, an app specifically for iPads. That will solve all my problems. After zfive minutes, I deleted the app. It had to be the worst app I've ever seen, in any product category. I wonder hoe British Airways stays in business..Version: 2.3

Why even botherUseless app for anything other than booking flights..Version: 2.15

Terrible: lacking common sense & poor designApp is less intuitive to use that the website, and that should not be the case. If you design specifically for ipad then it should really take advantage of ipad’s features, which this app does not. 1. Over use of fiddly (and reduced in size) scroll wheel menus 2. Unnecessary animation that feels less decisive 3. Does NOT give a price quote even though it says it is preparing one once you have selected your flights (instead forced you straight into booking) 4. No added extras - e.g. the option to add car hire to your booking 5. Design is trying to be too clever and instead is not intuitive and somewhat frustrating (e.g. first page says “fly me to....” you don’t need to reinvent the wheel here, just outbound / inbound etc... we’re in a hurry when we book, we just wanna get it done!) Big fail. Another reason to add to the mountain of reasons I’m just about ‘done’ with BA..Version: 2.0

Disappointing, please improve!I have the British Airways app on my phone and expected to have comparable functionality in this version for iPad. Instead, it is only for searching and booking flights. Tap your account and it will bring up a screen with your account number, contact details, and current Avios, but you cannot access anything beyond this. Even with an upcoming flight on British Airways, I cannot access any of the features the iPhone version has. So I’m stuck picking my seat from a very tiny seat map on my phone. Disappointing. Please improve!.Version: 2.8

What is the point of this app?Completely useless. What was the point of replacing the older version that actually had some use?.Version: 2.2

WorthlessAs others have stated. All the useful information regarding BA options, upcoming trips and bookings are gone. Simply a booking site that almost nobody will use because they will do that on a computer, where they can save information and make screen shots easily as proof of their booking. Clearly some IT or middle management person trying to justify their job with no thought of the customer..Version: 2.0

Not an upgrade for travelsThe latest version of the BA app is worthless. Only good for booking flights. And not very inspirational for this either. The previous version made it easy to see all your future booking on one easy page including departure, arrival and travel times. As a nice reminder of country of departure and arrival country a pretty picture also included as well as a weather report. Also the previous app version made it easy to check your flight history. This is a simple and boring looking booking tool. That’s it! It’s neither faster nor easy to navigate. Boring and frustrating app..Version: 2.14

Far far worse than the iPhone version.Doesn’t do anything other than look up possible flights. Doesn’t allow to look up booking code and certainly is a far call from the iPhone version. Sad I wasted 5 minutes of my life trying to figure out where the functionality was hidden.... only to find it’s absent! Absolute crap..Version: 2.2

Want to check your flights - cant in app!!Amazing that loading the most recent app allows you to only look for fights . The app doesn’t link to your account and let you see your current flight nor let you check in for your flight! What’s the point of having an app BA? Now going to login to my account through a browser that most other airlines have in their app! Dumb, dumb, dumb!! Rated 1 star because I couldn’t rate lower. Absolutely useless app!.Version: 2.3

No use. This app serves for nothing on an iPad..Version: 2.14

Very Disappointed - No Access to Booked FlightsReally surprised and disappointed in the BA app for iPad. I wanted access to an existing booking, be able to change seats etc. This app only lets me book a new flight! I did have the iPhone app on my iPad but was prompted to install the iPad app instead… but it is useless if you already have a flight booked!.Version: 2.11

Entirely uselessBA have managed to design an app that’s substantially less useful than just browsing to their Web site. This is a substantial downgrade from using the phone app in the center of an iPad screen. I suppose that’s an accomplishment of sorts. Don’t download—it doesn’t let you see your upcoming flights, check in, or do anything at all other than purchasing tickets, and it’s not particularly good at that..Version: 2.4

Read the other customer reviewsWorst app ‘upgrade’ ever. Who in BA decided what device and what functionality was wanted by their customers? They obviously did it in a blacked out room with earplugs in and no interaction with those that travel and use their iPad in anger. Why not pull the iPad app completely and just say, use the website? Woeful..Version: 2.4

It wasn’t broke so you fixed it anywayCongratulations to the development manager ... you have fixed something that worked well and wasn’t broke and made it as much use as a chocolate teapot. I guess you will be promoted for this. This is a seriously USELESS app, great if all you want to do is book a flight knowing where in the world you want to go but as others have said absolutely no way of managing your booking / tickets / checking your schedule. I have deleted this from my iPad and installed the phone version which actually still works as we the customers need. Sadly the lowest star rating I can give is 1 ... which is a gross flattery..Version: 2.2

App froze and won’t even download on my iPhone 13 Pro or iPad ProApp is worthless and froze while trying to download on both my iPhone 13 Pro and my iPad Pro. This is why I try not to use British Airways to travel - if I had any other choice. All aspects of BA’s airline services has always been severely lacking..Version: 2.14

Only for booking?I have a flight on BA booked and downloaded this app so that I could keep tabs on my upcoming flight (changes, etc.). What a worthless app! Only for booking??? Really? I don’t need an app to book, I need it to monitor my existing booking, checkin when the time comes, etc. I’ll try the version for phone to see if that works, but if so, I don’t see the point of having different versions. I use my iPad rather than iPhone whenever possible (easier to see / use / type on a larger device). But apparently, British Airways thinks that the only reason someone would use an iPad is to book but not to do anything else related to flying BA? I’m uninstalling this app immediately. I’d give it zero stars if I could..Version: 2.15

Why did they do this!I alayws thought BA had one of the best airline apps out there, but what they did do to the iPad app. Thank goodness they didn’t do the same with the iPhone app. You used to be able to check your bookings, see Executive Club status and card, all that useful stuff. Now all you can do is book a flight. I can’t even see my current booked flight. Did they skip the user testing completely? Shame on you BA..Version: 2.5

Massive retrograde stepI just came back to take a look at the updated App - and it hasn’t changed, so the review below stands. As do all of the other 1 Star reviews. But as with the way they treat their staff - they treat their customers will equal contempt! The app, such as it has been over the last year or so was perfectly useable. But with this latest update, it is truly useless! The only time I’ve booked a flight on my iPad is when I’ve tried to use a computer that won’t allow my credit card issuers authorisation script to be run - I’m looking at you again BA, with your insistence on running outdated versions of Windows on your PCs. I do not want an app to enable booking flights on my iPad - I use a perfectly acceptable browser for that - usually on a PC. I want the app to show me my upcoming flights, enable me to check-in, and to display my boarding card; if it can show me the status of flights in/out of an airport, that’d be great too. You know, just like the previous incarnation of the app did! Who on earth thought this downgraded POS was a good idea? Change for changes sake, and NOT in a good way. If I could award you 0 stars, I would. Please return the functionality we had before you messed it up - again!.Version: 2.3

Easy to say you’re app’s great when it does nothingMy review should say nothing to match the functionality of the app. That said, the app matches BA’s view of customers - we like their money but frankly, we wish they didn’t show up. Yes I’ve been Silver and Gold for years, still have 1m Avios and - heck, have you seen Qatar’s app? Looking forward to flying Qatar next week. Of course they want to make a profit - but BA, duh, don’t be so obvious .... leave me at least a glimmer of belief that I may matter. This app says everything there is to say about BA customer treatment..Version: 2.0

The app only needed to do one thing...which was to allow me to check in and get a seat not in the middle of the plane (since BA fails to read one world frequent flyers’ seat preferences). Both times I was ready to check in the moment it opened, both for 23 hr journeys. Both times it spat the dummy because it was a codeshare flight connecting to the intercontinental one. I couldn’t choose and ended up being given the dreaded F seat, middle of nowhere. I rang the help line for BA but they said everyone was too busy and hung up on me. NEVER flying BA again after this experience. I say this as a regular on the AU-EU routes..Version: 1.6

Just uselessI used the old BA app to check/update membership features and flight details. I was able to check in too. This new app doesn’t let you do any of these things. Hoping that BA would eventually be reintroducing these features, I waited until the updated version before writing this review. Sadly I’m still waiting. This app seems to be nothing more than a way of booking tickets. If that’s all you want to do, fine. However, if you need to check your booking or do any other things connected with your flight, you will not be able to. At present, the app on my phone does all the things that I need: from now on, I will exclusively be using it, as I’m about to delete this worthless app from my iPad..Version: 2.2

You made a useful tool utterly defunct. Good job. Thanks for making my life better by stripping away all that useless information, like my 10+ upcoming flights, my tier points, my check in time, my avios, my exec club contact info. I hated being able to access all that information without going to the website. Thanks for restricting me to do the only fing thing I CANNOT do with this app - booking flights. I must follow corporate procedure by booking through the corporate site, so you just made this completely useless. You need to review your decision makers, I suggest you do the same to them as they did to your app..Version: 2.2

Don’t bother it rubbishThe app is so bad. As you log in the log in screen moves up the page as you type so eventually if you have a normal email address the page can no longer be seen. The app only allows bookings, you can’t check a booking, upload details for a flight (COVID stuff), change a booking, cancel a booking, check-in to a flight, change seats. Who tested this app, a bookings clerk at a travel agency? The app has no way of going backwards out of a decision and has the worst User Interface, an all white screen so you don’t know where buttons are. The screen colour and UI is probably a good thing, cause they forgot to add any buttons. Downloaded and deleted within the space of 10mins as I didn’t want it to infect any of my good apps. Use the website instead..Version: 2.15

You can only book flights. Nothing elseI am seconding everything everyone else has said. Absolutely useless. Not only can you do only one thing, you have to watch a animated scroll of useless fluffier before you get to the one (only one) thing you can do. Looks like it was designed by the graphic design department and demoed on a 2 slide PowerPoint to the execs. Oh, and it didn’t work with my account password and I had to change it. I’m guessing the ampersand broke it. Software Dev’s out there will know this means bad data input handling and a gaping security hole..Version: 2.15

DUH !Why would you create two apps British Air, why would you have one on IPad for bookings only … get rid of this app… it’s useless and misleading !.Version: 2.15

Useless rubbish...With this app, you can do nothing apart from booking a new flight (if that one feature decides to work properly) downloading it was a waste of time when I've tried a few years ago first, anb I'm disappointed again as there is nothing changed... From BA I've expected more, especially as this is not a brand new app, they should've noticed it's weaknesses by now. There is the iPhone app which is somehow much better compared to this. That can be used to book or retrieve bookings, check in, check avios etc...the iPad app however is a big disappointment. And they claim that they made changes and added features. What exactly? 🤔 Come on BA people! I hope that you read all the bad reviews and create something useful.....Version: 2.6

WorthlessAgree with all other reviews, loved prior version, had all the info I would need, easy interface. Now it’s only a booking site, and even then would not auto fill my info after signing in, wanted me to enter all my info, name, address, BA frequent flyer number. What’s the point of signing in?? I just did it thru the web, much faster. This app is worthless, delete!.Version: 2.1

Worse Customer Experience EverI’ve had them worst experience ever with British Airways this morning and yesterday morning. I have stayed loyal to BA with regards to cancel flights etc etc understanding the worldwide pandemic but they have been disgraceful in their handling of my latest booking, I have been on the phone for three hours this morning and being pushed from pillar to post, their own customer service operators has transferred me numerous times to the wrong departments waiting for callback from managers, Just deeply unhappy with BA and their handling of my booking which in addition has cost me nearly £80 difference in 48 hours. They really need to look at their customer services, it seems to me that they are unable to cope with the small increase in flights etc etc that are now available get your act together.Version: 2.8

One year on... Still uselessThe impression I get from the fact that this app has been completely redesigned solely for customers booking new flights is that the digital design team at BA don’t care a pittance for existing customers. And if the user experience for someone booking a new flight was fantastic, perhaps I would understand. But it’s amateur. I searched ‘Holland’ and nothing appeared, not even an error message. Work it out yourself! (Search ‘Netherlands’ instead). I’d love to speak to the team to understand what their thinking was behind this and why, a year later, they’ve still not done anything to change it..Version: 2.7

Harmful to the British Airways BrandI’ve found one use for this thing in the time of COVID: it’s marginally faster to check ever-changing flight schedules than some alternatives, such as visiting the website. (Of course, I would never actually purchase a booking in this app, explained below in my review.) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ I’m honestly not sure why BA choose to keep this up in the store. It’s clear they’re not interested in maintaining it, as the tiny amount of functionality that it delivers now often doesn’t work as intended. The booking search, for example, regularly aborts with a generic error message, implying an unexpected server response; also, the “nearby-date-prices” ribbon at the top of the search results is no longer accurate (off-by-one error). These behaviors imply that the app is no longer kept up-to-date with BA’s own backend services. Therefore, I would never trust this app to do the one thing it’s able to do: book a flight. As a programmer myself, I hate having my name attached to a product that the business is no longer supporting. It reflects poorly on us as engineers, and once the dilapidation progresses past a certain point – as it has, in this case – then leaving the product available/accessible causes more damage to the company and its brand than simply disposing of it..Version: 2.6

Astonishing!Like so many others, all the app allows me to do is book a flight; no booking or account management, no flight information, nothing. I assumed this was a recent bug but I see reviews of this problem going back two years! Given the quality and function of the phone version I cannot imagine what the developer is thinking or doing here. Stop wasting our time and fix the issue or make the iPhone version a universal app and scrap this..Version: 2.15

Most useless app everUnless you purely want to purchase a ticket, this thing is useless eye candy for people that don’t ever want to be a frequent flyer of BA. Can’t imagine why people would want to frequent BA. Suggestion : let the user do anything other than purchasing a ticket. Anything. Maybe some of us have booked a ticket and want to use the app to manage said booking. I know it’s a stretch..Version: 2.6

Good - now uselessThis app was useful, the revised version (Nov 2019) is useless, all functionality done and is tailored to booking flights only - which can be done better elsewhere. BA - wake up, you will lose your loyal customers.Version: 2.3

Terrible!I use airline apps to search flights, follow flight status, check my account, and everything else you can do from the airline’s website. But not this app! This is ONLY a booking app. Please give us back an iPad app with more functionality! For now I’m back to the iPhone app. I would give this app zero stars if I could..Version: 2.3

ShockingI can’t believe how awful the new version is - impossible to search for Avios/Reward flights and not even the option to use these payment methods after you’ve spent ages completing all of the passenger info. Lots of other info and features have disappeared too and the fact the cheapest flights are now hand baggage only is awful. Why do you think people choose to fly BA?? Because bags and food/drinks are included. This app shows you have essentially become another no frills airline. The BA experience has been destroyed and therefore so has your brand. Bravo!.Version: 2.0

Only for booking flightsThis app is only for booking flights, no other functionality. Very disappointing.Version: 2.5

Truly AwfulMy old BA App got automatically updated. The old app had a few glitches such as not showing all my upcoming flights. However, it was quite usable. The new version is truly awful. I see a minimum of information about my account and then am taken to a page to book a flight. Booking flight is rarely done via the app as I use my company’s travel booking system. I do want an app that lets me select seats, check take off times and terminals, check-in online etc. Can’t believe BA actually released this version. It’s basically non-functional..Version: 2.0

You can only book a flightI have no idea what is the purpose of this app. You can login, and book a flight. That’s it! You cannot see your bookings, you cannot check in, actually you cannot do anything else. Not sure how do you spell useless..Version: 2.14

Awful - so limitedThis is touted as a complete replacement for the other BA app and you are encouraged to download it from the old one. However it is impossible to do most of the things you can do in the old app, making it completely useless as a replacement. As far as I can see it is only possible to book flights. No mention of existing bookings, account management, or anything else. My advice - release the app when it is ready, because currently you’re giving people a very poor and confusing experience..Version: 2.12

UselessDoesn’t do anything. I just wanted to check in for my flight. When I open the app it only asks where I want to fly as if i am trying to make a new reservation. There is no other link to do anything else so I’m even stuck on that screen. The only thing I can do is go back, but then I’m at the App Store. Wow how stupid..Version: 2.3

A chocolate fireguardWhat a total waste of 50+MB of storage space. Do yourself a favour and download a few songs instead, you’ll get much more use out of them. Basically, if you want to book a flight, you can do it with this app. But that’s it. You cannot check any of your account details, spend Avios, see how much longer you’ve got until you progress to the next level of your club membership, contact BA for help, etc. You need internet access, obviously. And of course, if you have internet access you can just go to the BA website. So really, what is the point of this app?.Version: 2.6

How not to design an app upgradeBA took a very useful handy iPad app that showed my my current trip information, my avios , I could book and see flights I had already taken and without warning you made it useless with only being able to use it as a booking tool , not sure what you were thinking BA but if I could give you a zero I would. You certainly didn't get voice of customer before hand but it looks like you are getting it now. I suggest you listen to it. iPad users if you have the BA app and you want to be able to do anything other than book flights and you can avoid the upgrade , do so. Mine was set to automatically upgrade unfortunately.Version: 2.0

Where did everything go?The latest update of this app changed everything. All I can do is search for flights. My booking information and ability to see my account and my trips is gone. This is worthless right now. With a trip coming in a few days, I was using this app just last week to get all my flight data, now nothing is there. Please fix this quickly..Version: 2.0

Clearly customer feedback is not importantIt’s an interesting approach to take absolutely no notice of customer feedback, especially those that have taken the time to write it down for you. The iPad app is so one dimensional that it serves little purpose to its target audience, its customers. For 2 years these customers have been pointing out that this iPad app does not serve their needs and here we are with another version release and still no return to mirroring iPhone richness of uses. In this day and age, where iPhone and iPad share OSs there is no excuse. What you write for the iPhone as a native app is immediately usable on the iPad, so why have two completely different experiences. I will be uninstalling. Shame that BA disregards the expressly given needs of their customers.Version: 2.14

The app does not work for meI have a trip in 2 weeks upcoming on British Air so I thought it would be cool to see it in the app. But the app simply does not work! It spends the first minute basically showing you an ad on how wonderful their new designed app is, and then locks on a screen to search for flights. Dumb and no use..Version: 2.10

Worst app everI really liked the previous version of the app I had. Showed easily how to see upcoming flights, booking history and ability to book a new flight. Now the only thing they want you to do is book a flight. I wanted information on an upcoming flight and had to go to the website. I have removed this app and am so annoyed the BA are only interested in showing you how they can make more money, rather than be customer friendly. I would give 0 stars if possible. Now they won’t let me send a review without a nickname, of which several I have tried are taken. It gets more annoying!.Version: 2.0

JunkNot an app for managing your account/booking just search new flights.Version: 2.4

Is this a joke?I guess it is. Cos how else can I call an app that is totally, absolutely, profoundly useless? I’m sorry but I do not use a mobile app (even an iPad app) to purchase tickets. I use it to check my timeline, to plan IFE, sometimes to conveniently browse the timetable, to check for the lounge WiFi password. The old app could do it, but the new one only shows me a long and obnoxious intro, then my total mileage, without even being able to show me the transactions and, boom, the purchase screen! Bravo, BA, you’ve surpassed yourself again in screwing up. I’m deleting it - I’ll keep my iPhone app instead, hoping against hope you won’t screw up that one too..Version: 2.0

Garbage appI’m sure there r other things to do with the loyalty program than just booking a flight. It used to be ok, now it’s a complete garbage app..Version: 2.8

THIS APP IS POINTLESSAs we are expected, or forced, to do everything online, the revamp of this app is a perplexing backwards step. I can't get past the near blank "Book a flight" intro screen so it seems it's no longer a single one-stop app where you can check flight time updates, manage Avios or review bookings that used to be simple in the previous app. Those of us who use BA regularly have watched sadly as standards of service, hygiene, dining etc have relentlessly slipped but now I see that it is endemic to everything that the company does. It does not imbue faith in their operations.Version: 2.5

What is this app?I have no idea what BA are thinking with this app - all you can do on it is book a cash flight. No reward bookings, no managing account, no looking at holidays/hotels. Why does the phone app have all of this functionality but the iPad one doesn’t? It makes absolutely no sense to me. Unless you purely want to book a cash flight then this app is utterly pointless. Listen to the reviews and listen to the customers - stop going rogue. Make this a mirror of the iPhone app, that’s all it needs to be! Until then this app is deleted and I’ll just use a web browser..Version: 2.14

Waste of iPad StorageI wanted to manage my flight from my iPad so, as you’d expect opened the BA app on my iPad. Simple? No. The BA iPad app does not have the functionality to allow you to manage your booking; only book flights. As others have said, this makes the whole thing a waste of time, and a retrograde step as you used to be able to manage flights as well as book flights from the iPad app. When adding important detail such as companion passport numbers to a booking it’s easier on a bigger keyboard and more accurate. I had to revert to the iPhone app… ridiculous. I am now deleting the iPad version. I have more important apps to use my 256gb space for..Version: 2.14

Could Not Be More UselessIf there was ever a company trying to frustrate, avoid, undermine and exclude their customers from anything helpful BA wins the award. I have never encountered a company so completely out of touch with modern customer service and expectations! I have been a customer of BA for over 30 years and am actually one of their best customers! Not just saying this, I am Gold List customer which means I am in the top 1% of the customers. Not saying this brag but to highlight that the complete contempt shown to those flying once in a while and paying the cheapest fairs extends right to the top of the tree! BA you need to wake up. You have not only upset the bulk of your customers but now have managed to destroy your relationship with your best and most profitable! When will you learn, maybe when we all fly with someone else!.Version: 2.1

I thought it was me. It was you...What can I say that hasn’t been said literally thousands of times on here already. BA, I want to love you, I want to ignore the fact that Cathay, Singapore and countless others outflank you in so many ways. I big it up when someone on a flight or at a desk gives me good service and I think that maybe I was wrong. And then you do this. WTAF? I literally can’t believe you’ve released that app - what is seriously going on, have a word with yourself :( :( I hope that the designers are made to read every single of the 1200 comments so far on this app. Meh..Version: 2.2

What is the point of this app??As a former programmer with BA (admittedly in the dinosaur age), I am embarrassed about not only this app (seeing previous comments too) but also the website. Please check out some other comparable airlines to get some tips on make searching for, & booking, flights much simpler..Version: 2.15

Good for one thing only.. making BA moneyWow.. so I just downloaded the ‘latest’ version of the app as the iphone one is also rubbish and I cant do what I need to on it. I’m actually quite dumbstruck at how apocalyptically bad it is! I mean seriously.. one page, to book a flight, thats it. No way to manage or view upcoming or past bookings, no way to check Avios, no way to book seats, literally nothing. How on earth did this apology for an app get approved in this day and age?! BA really need to get a grip and join the 21st century.. they’re more than happy to squeeze us in like sardines and surcharge us for everything these days, whilst at the same time giving us an app that an 8 year old would be embarrassed to submit to computer class. Get a grip BA, we can’t actually talk to anyone in customer services these days so at least give is the ability to manage our flights online, after all, we are essentially doing your job for you..Version: 2.15

Such a retrograde stepThis app is now such a waste of space for Executive Club members. Where is all the information one used to be able to access when using the old iPad app, like current and past bookings, upcoming flights, lounge passwords etc.? For an airline that is so rapidly sliding down the reputation tables one wonders what the developer team could possibly be thinking. Oh, of course, we must drive more sales! Let’s face it all this app is useful for is to book a flight, and in that it seems a slightly better experience than the website redesign which now seems to require many more clicks than previous to complete a booking. Come on BA - start to show you are actually listening to your customers and develop something that moves an app onwards rather than backwards..Version: 2.2

Computer says NO reinvented by BA!This iPad app is useless. It is so useless it has ONE screen only: ‘where would like to fly?’. Wow!!! Amazing! Groundbreaking! What an innovation. Well I did not want to fly but instead check on a next flight... I don’t usually write reviews but felt I had to. I could not believe an international company with great ambitions could reduce its app presence to this, so I deleted it and re installed it, thinking it cannot be true. It is! This app has only one functionality! Well done. Is a Stranger Thing moment where we are back in the 80s? Worst app ever by far. Shame Shame Shame!! Voted worst customer service 2019 and now worst app!.Version: 2.2

Major Steps BackwardsWhat a hot mess the BA app is nowadays. From being a helpful, informative, easy to use app that featured all of my key frequent flyer information and preferences, to a fancy transitions but fatally flawed booking-only site. As a higher status Avios member who routinely flies between the US and London - and often onwards to Asia via LHR - this app alone turns me off purchasing BA tickets. In other words, ridiculous upgrade equals at least £30,000 lost per year for the company... just from me..Version: 2.1

A pointless evolution of the appWhat, BA, is the point of this app? As a long-term loyal customer, I don’t need to be constrained by the iPad app to only be able to book a flight. What on earth am I to do once it is booked? Throw my ipad in the bin? Your decision to remove all beneficial functionality renders this app borderline useless and it is a pointless evolution. I shall delete the ipad app and hope you have at least the sense to leave functionality in the phone app otherwise there will be no point sticking with you. This is so frustrating and Ill-considered. How have you drifted so far from being the world’s favourite airline?.Version: 2.14

UselessMost app developers add to and improve the functionality of their apps when they bring out a new version. Not BA. They have removed virtually everything that was useful about their app and left a totally useless bit of junk that is not worth using up my valuable iPhone/iPad memory on. It will be getting deleted. A cynic might think that the removal of the flight tracking and airport arrival/departure information might be a way of masking the numerous cancellations that seem to happen with the ever more frequent I.T. disasters not to mention the up coming flight crew strikes..Version: 2.0

Beware - does not do what you might expect! Not sure what is happening to BA. Opened the new app excited to check it out and then proceeded to have a very frustrating and bewildering 30 seconds of interaction. Finally realized the ONLY thing you can do is book a flight...what rationale inspired them to do this??? At least label the app correctly so that is clear?!?.Version: 2.5
