Have been blocking stuff using Ghostery on the desktop for ages (trackers in particular — they're all over the web and they're basically invisible), and it's great to be able to do the same on iOS now too. Features I'd like to see in future versions: - To see a list in the app of the advertisers and trackers that are being blocked. - To be able to enable & disable individual items (though not sure if this is possible with the current APIs from Apple) - To be able to whitelist items for a particular site (eg. ✓ Not perfect but very good.Brilliant bit of software, not perfect, as it needs a tiny bit of improvement but very good none the less. It's fantastic to be able to look at websites now without being overloaded with ads, even News sites such as Sky are getting in on it and this stops it a treat. The reason I say it needs a bit of work is it is cutting out some bits it shouldn't, such as some comments sections are treated as pop ups, but all in all, very good. ✓ Works great and closes blanked ad spaceUnlike some other reviewers, I find Crystal continues to work really well. And, as at Sep 2016, it still does a brilliant job for me. I've tried other Safari ad blockers and none, to date, is as good as this one. An added bonus is that Crystal seems to close up the blank spaces left where blocked adverts would have been, so I never even need to know they were there. Other ad blockers just seem to leave the blank area in place, which I find rather annoying. Not sure why others are having problems with too many ads still appearing; here, I just get the pages I want, with virtually no or completely no ads at all..Version: 1.2

✓ Improves over-all performanceI love this app. For years now we've been harassed by greedy website owners who aren't simply happy with having ads on their site but also demand that we stop what we're doing to see them. Other sites allow even worse advertising, ones that wait until your finger touches the screen while you're scrolling to redirect you away from what you're trying to read. The user experience has been destroyed by these practices and it's time that websites stepped up and admitted they have broken the web. Crystal fixes the web, and because we're not unwittingly loading multiple megabytes of data in the background and being tracked by advertisers, our phones run out of memory less often and overall performance is vastly improved. I can finally use my iPhone 6 Plus and keep more than a couple of tabs open without them reloading constantly because of sites eating up all the RAM. It has rendered all of the sites correctly, as opposed to the competition who seem to block CSS on some sites. ✓ Peace and speed at last!This has made an enormous difference. I enjoy reading different newspapers on line and have downloaded their specific app to do so. The problem is that the apps, and the web pages, if you choose not to use the apps, take forever to load pages and keep disturbing the reading with adverts and pop ups. Some pages simply freeze altogether because the ad content is not always delivered. Then I installed this little gem for 79 pence. Now I have deleted the apps and replaced them with shortcuts on my front screen that lead to their websites. And the difference is amazing - it's a real breath of fresh air - no more ads or popular. One newspaper site even put an alert at the bottom of the page saying that it looks like I have an ad-blocker installed and invited me to contribute in another way. Yeah right! ✓ Works even on TMZ...Just installed this and blocked all ads in preferences. I'm still in iOS 9. Tried it on the most impossibly ad-infested site I know : the TMZ tabloid site. TMZ has been practically unreadable for years because of all the pathological ads (used to be normal). With Crystal - it was completely readable, no agonizing slowdown and glitchiness. Before, I had to use a separate browser (Adblock) if there was anything I wanted to read on TMZ. Now I can read it within Safari, no problem. It does however stop you from being able to view some videos embedded in certain websites. You can workaround this by reloading the sites without the blocker enabled (by holding down the refresh button in safari) but it's not an ideal solution. ✓ Excellent Content BlockerI was excited about content blockers coming in iOS 9 and had heard about Crystal a couple of weeks before iOS 9 was released. I remembered the name and was lucky enough to download Crystal for free during the initial promo period. At first it didn't seem to work, but after a force quit of Safari (and Crystal) content blocking worked really well in Safari. Suddenly websites started loading considerably faster that before. Now, it's not perfect (I don't think any blocker could be), but it's only early days and the blocklist is being updated quite frequently. ✓ Ridiculous fall in ratings because of misreportingThe ratings for this app have recently tumbled because of the reviews left by some users on the App Store and misreporting on the web. The developer explicitly states on his blog that although he intends to implement a whitelist for acceptable ads, the feature will be highlighted to all users when it's activated and they will be given the option to turn it off. Many people have said that they support ads in some way but they've reluctantly installed an ad blocker because things have got out of hand. Well acceptable ads promote the use of unobtrusive and conservative advertisement, and like I said, there will still be the option to turn it off when it's enabled... once again, it isn't even a feature yet!.Version: 1.0.1

As an experiment I tried to open The Verge, at a minute and a half the blue loading progress bar was still only half way. I tried it again, same results.
