Password Manager - mSecure for Negative User Reviews

Migration issuesI downloaded the new v5 but when I migrated my data from v4, it did not migrate all the photos over. So that makes v5 useless for me since many of those photos are essential info and it would be a lot of work to retake the photos. Will not be using v5 unless they fix this..Version: 5.7.3

Breaks my heartI’ve been a huge fan of mSecure for many years. It really is a great product, so it breaks my heart to say this, but they seem to have dropped the ball. The app no longer works for me (latest iOS and iPhone 7+). I’ve reported it to their support portal, but heard nothing back from them. MSeven, if you’re listening, just let me know what’s going on and I’ll happily update my review. But not having access to my passwords from my phone is just not acceptable..Version: 5.5.3

Switching to lastpass totallyAfter using msecure for years and being pleased with its functionality i found it is now outdated. when i downloaded version 5 as suggested by the old app i now find that stuff is now only available on the “pro” version and is at an outrageous $aud46. i get all the features of last pass far cheaper. luckily while i had the “trial period” in the new app i exported everything ready to make the switch. i understand that the developer needs to turn a profit to keep going and provide some of the syncing and backup features but this price is too much..Version: 5.5.3

Constant Nags to UpgradeIf you like pop ups each time you open the app, the this is the app for you..Version: 6.1.5

DisasterWithout warning the developers stopped supporting v4 and now I find all my data is lost. I read that you can download the new version and import my data from v4 but it simply doesn’t work. What they have done to me and many others probably is terrible, as it will take me days, if not weeks to rebuild my data bank. If I can’t trust them to behave ethically in this respect, I certainly wouldn’t trust them with your most private data..Version: 5.7.2

Sad NewsPeople who paid a lot for this app in the past will now have to subscribe in order to get new features exclusively available as a monthly or yearly subscription. I am totally disgusted at the lack of ethic and ingratitude of these developers..Version: 6.0.2

Keeps your passwords secure - from youMy phone developed a fault and had to be factory reset. As a result the app wanted me to log back in - I’d been using Face ID for the last year and a half so I’d forgotten the password. There is no password recovery or reset process. The only option offered is to reset my account - that will reset my password but also delete all of my data so I will lose the passwords for every other website I use and have to spend hours resetting them all. I appreciate the need to keep data secure - particularly for this app - but if even my bank and credit card provider can find a way to let me reset my password securely I fail to see why it would be beyond this app to do the same. So I’m off to delete this app, reset every single password I have and then find somewhere else to store them. That’ll be fun..Version: 5.7.1

Support for the app is horribleThey billed me for going premium and then nothing updated. I tried submitting a ticket and got a computer response which had a link that was not active. This has left me no other means of contacting a live person..Version: 6.0.8

Tech Bros are Gunna Tech Bro! Tricked into upgrading to v 5. Anti-consumer.Update: The developers actually did get back to me: Instead of acknowledging the actual problem and frustration, these tech bro devs pick on the semantics on my review. I would love to read what the TOS was at the time, but their rebuttal is proof that this a futile gesture. Penetration pricing and subscription based apps are a flesh eating bacteria on the future of tech that devs see has a cool new feature! Good News! Your purchase is null and void and as a loyal customer you get to pay for it again, but this time it’s monthly and indefinitely (until we change our minds/tos again)! - I have been using MSecure for 8 years. Worked as needed and bought a full version of the app shortly after, and many versions ago. MSecure slowly booted me from version to upgraded version slowly taking away features I had already paid for before now going to a subscription model. You now need to pay for things that used to be in the free version, so my purchase now gets me less than what their free version even recently included. I am not asking for unlimited technological updates, just for what I paid for in this company’s early stages, but now I have lost for biometric unlocking and now have no way to back up my data even via email which used to even be in the free option. This seems like a lot of companies have disposed of loyalty and utility for that con of recurring rev. Look elsewhere..Version: 6.0.8

Waste of screen spaceWhy do you insist on totally destroying screen space?????? Total fail!!!!!! Why the heck did you increase the fonts size so anyone from 50 ft away can easily see it. Not helping with privacy and security to say the least. The app use to show the title line, which was 1 line per item entry. Now it shows the title and ALL the additional field. End result, now I have to scroll through pages, and pages, and pages to get to the item I’m interested in. Why do you make it more difficult and more time consuming to use this app. Is it your sole mission in life to keep coming up with ways to agitate paying users. If you are going to add stupid thing as I listed above, how about giving us options to view only the titles, and change font sizes. If we want to see additional info, we can drill down to get it. The way it is now is like having to look for a needle in a haystack. Absolute total nonsense. Are you so open minded that your brain leaked out?.Version: 5.7.2

Scam - Version 5 RemovedI paid for version 5 quite a while back. I own it. Or, at least I did, until you decided on a subscription pay-wall calling it version 6 with all the bells and whistles. I don’t want version 6. I’m perfectly happy with version 5. Now, I find version 6 has over-written version 5 as a subscription pay-wall. You can’t try to blame it on Apple. You’re the software developer and I purchased version 5 from you and I want it back. This amounts to fraud. You should be ashamed of your unscrupulous business tactics. I still have version 4 on my iPhone, but version is gone. That’s an absolute outrage. *********************** You don’t get it. I don’t want a SUBSCRIPTION, free or not free. I paid for version 5. I own version 5, not version 6 with a free subscription. What you’ve pulled off is an absolute fraud. And, it’s illegal..Version: 6.0.2

Hate the pop up adThis developer is out of touch and making terrible decisions. Look at all of these reviews asking for that annoying advertisement to be removed and he refuses. He claims the ad only comes back if you force close the application but that is definitely not the case for me. I see it constantly and it makes me mad every time. What a lousy thing to place a banner in the app and refuse to remove it because you are too proud to admit you made a mistake. I paid for this app - you are ticking off paid customers, that’s bad business. What a terrible way to do a business! He knows the advertisements annoy people and insists on keeping them anyway. Do you really think we need to be constantly reminded that an upgrade it is possible? It is clear the banner is annoying a large number of users and you simply don’t care. I will never upgrade out of principle only at this point..Version: 6.1.3

Lost functionalityAfter app updates some functionality that originally came with app is now subscription only. I paid for the app and now don’t have all the functions I paid for. Can no longer download and email my passwords. I am in the process of manually writing down all the passwords so I can transfer to another app. Do not buy..Version: 5.7.1

Family subscription .. but not for upgrade customers?I’ve been using mSecure for years, never had a problem with security, although other Apps seemed to get desirable new features to market faster. Although it seemed quite pricey for a password App - even with my ‘upgrade offer’ - I stayed with the App last year waiting for them to introduce a family subscription .. but it’s double the normal subscription, so quadruple what I’m paying now. If there’s still no upgrade price when my renewal comes up I won’t be renewing..Version: 6.1.1

Latest upgrade is exploitativeI was an early adopter of msecure. However, I am now cautious about it. They keep upgrading and you have to pay for upgrades sometimes. The latest upgrade (April 2022) says that it gives you the same functionality as the previous one but it does not…. Eg- If you organised your information by person name you now have to pay more (an annual subscription!) to organise by tabs. Functionality has not been continued between this version and the last one (and I reluctantly paid £25 to upgrade to that! I had no need of all the extra, So called, functionality tweaks). My fear is that they tie you in to using their app and then find ways to exploit you- ie keep you paying! So in one sense they protect you, in another since the exploit you themselves! That’s my personal opinion. Personally, I think it’s criminal! If they recant on this and keep the functionality I will try and change this review..Version: 6.0.3

Very poor feeling blackmailed... disgusted... utter disgraceI purchased mSecure 4 years ago.. £7.99 I think generally happy with it... now I am being sent message on the mSecure app I paid for (when I open it up) saying that the mSecure app maybe not be able to be used so I had better upgrade to mSecure 5 (or words to that effect) this motivated me to download the mSecure 5 app... I did that and now I am told after a 30 day trial I am being asked for another £28 ... that’s pretty expensive and not upfront and for me I feel downright deceptive and manipulative... so as they have said in their pop up messages that my older version may not be good or work anymore I Am gonna look for other option and share this v poor news with as many as I recommended it to....Version: 5.7.2

Good password manager but force to deal with AdsI’ve used MSecure since version 4 and paid full price back then so that I didn’t have to deal with subscriptions and pop up Advertisements. As a legacy user of the MSecure we were forced to upgrade to version 5 and or pay for an upgrade. Legacy users were then force again to upgrade to version 6 with an essentials account. With the option of going to a paid subscription for features that I don’t have a need for. Now they decided to have force pop up ads for essential account users. While I understand a company or developers need to make money and survive this also makes for a poor user experience for those who paid full price for the app or upgrade to not have to deal with Ads. So if your not a subscriber even though you paid full price as a legacy used you have to deal with the pop up Ads to upgrade to a subscriber. This action has soured my user experience with Msecure. Aside this MSecure has been a good password manager app if your willing to pay for features and subscription. Because my needs are for only a simple password manager with backup capabilities I may have to now look for alternatives password manager such as Data Vault where I don’t have to put up with Ads and subscriptions in the future. I am sticking with MSecure for now as the pop up ad only appears each time you close the app completely..Version: 6.1.3

Great…another subscriptionBeen using Msecure for years, and love it. My data has been carefully organized into groups for easy access. Now with the upgrade, groups are discontinued and all my files are a big mess again. No problem, I will invest time and create tags. But wait…you need to pay to have the privilege of using tags as it’s under the Premium tier. Really? I would have been happy using the charity Essentials tier, but this is a dealbreaker. Time to evaluate other solutions..Version: 6.0.3

Good app, but…Strongly disagree with the new subscription based revenue stream … and the side-stepping response from the devs that the Essentials level could eventually be a subscription too..Version: 6.0.0

More updates to force people to upgradeAwful company keep using “updates” to slowly taking original features away from the people who actually paid before, instead of adding a picture as an attachment now you even have to crop the picture instead having the full picture size like a card. This practice is absolutely disgusting and if they have done this to the people who purchased before they would do this to new users in the future too. Definitely not recommend.Version: 6.1.0

Initially good programWhen ewe first got the free app it worked great but when we upgraded to the paid version everything about the app went south. We couldn’t sync the password data base between our phones or iPads any longer. Instructions said to restore from a backup. Once one of us (wife or myself) restored to our iphone or iPad it wiped out the data base on all of our other devices. I emailed support and all I got back was a canned email instructing me to restore from a previous backup. Again wiping out the password database on all other devices except the device where the restore was done. Another problem, if you change your password for mSecure and do a backup you have to remember your old password from the time you backed up. Your current password won’t work. Best advice I can offer is avoid this app unless you only intend using it on one device only. Very frustrating..Version: 6.0.8

Used to be excellent - now a dudHave used this app happily for years but recent app upgrade will not accept my usual login. That's unacceptable for an app that holds all my passwords and risks locking me out. Avoid.Version: 5.0.3

Terrible UpdateHad a great app that worked fine with no bugs, but devs decided that they needed more money so introduced a pointless update to include an additional premium feature. Paying for it not a problem - however the entire interface is now horrendous to use and navigate, and previous system of recording passwords within sections no longer works and so now I’m concerned about my existing data becoming buggy. No warning of the update either. So frustrating, will be migrating to a different app at some point in the near furure.Version: 6.0.2

Always issues when changing phonesI have paid for and been using this app for over 6 years. Every time I change to a new phone I have issues. This time it asked me to reset the password on the new phone, but when I logged in it said there were 116 entries but none were visible. Went back to my old phone and the version I had on my PC, but it wiped those as soon as I logged in. Support advise me this is a function of the reset process, but I did not see any warnings about that when going through the process. Now I have lost 116 password records from years of use. Lesson learned, no trust in electronic password systems any more..Version: 5.7.3

Switched from paid app to subscription serviceI like MSecure but seeing them switch to a subscription model is difficult. I am a medical student with no income and for people in situations like mine, the overall trend toward using subscription revenue to drive up income is disheartening and is affecting more and more of my favorite apps. I simply cannot afford to make these monthly or yearly fees for all the apps I use regularly. I see password apps as services I hope to be using for the next several decades without having to switch and in that period of time the new pricing model will greatly outpace the one-time purchase price that used to be offered. I no longer think MSecure is a good value for this reason. Apple Passwords is free to use, has better financial longevity, and is a better alternative for all unless these extra features are worth paying for..Version: 6.0.8

Good password vault but not without its issuesFor the most part, this is a solid reliable system that we use across several devices. It also has a cloud backup function which means you don't need to be concerned with losing data. But I have two issues, the first is where the assigned name, my name was deleted from every record I owned so all my records were ‘unassigned’. Although I didn't lose any data, it was a real pain to fix. The second issue is only on a PC and is a little strange where keyboard strokes were not echoed on the MSecure screen. At its worst, characters took about 30 seconds to appear but I have not experienced this for a while. The upside to Msecure however, is that the technical support is wonderful and while they may not fix everything, they are always responsive..Version: 5.7.2

Nagware and Endless UpgradesI’ve been an mSecure user for years. I readily upgraded from version 4-5. Now I’m on version 6 and I continually get nagware every single time I open the app urging me to subscribe to such and such version. I don’t even care what it is…as a paid user, if I dismiss the nagware, it should go away. Well…I’m done. I’m moving all my passwords off the app and I’m going to delete it from my phone. It is inexcusable to keep asking your users to pay again and again. Thanks, but no thanks. Developer says… I'm not sure what you mean here. The in-app ad doesn't present itself if you have upgraded to an mSecure 6 subscription. Its' only presented to keep the option of upgrading from a free Essentials account you get for having purchased an mSecure 5 Pro license. Also, if you dismiss the ad, it won't come back unless the app is fully closed, either by you manually closing it or by iOS closing it in the background. Well howdy doody. You DO know what I mean here. You’re just playing word games. I paid big bucks for mSecure and now I’m considered a “free” account and need to upgrade. It’s a d*** shame how you corporate types just keep holding out your hands for more money! And guess what…if you close the program and the pop up reappears the next time you OPEN THE PROGRAM—that is NAGWARE. Stop additional response is needed. Thanks again…it was good for a few years. Just be glad I can’t give you a zero star rating. 👍.Version: 6.1.3

Warning! You have to pay to restore your passwords from a backup. My iPhone crashed and I had to start from scratch and this app would not let me restore unless I paid them. Now you’re warned find a new app that doesn’t hijack your info..Version: 5.6.4

My passwords are goneI’ve been using this product for years. A new version has blocked me from the old and I’m unable to import old passwords into the new. So thanks a Msecure. PS Apple has done nothing to assist..Version: 5.7.2

HangsEvery time I click the hamburger menu icon I have to wait a almost 30(!) seconds before anything happens. The app just hangs. The same thing happens in other places. I’ll stick to my older version of mSecure until the app is made responsive. I’m on a brand new 8 Plus. Not happy..Version: 5.5.1

Be carefullIf you are still using old app, do not switch to iOS 17. As soon as you switch, the old app stops working and you have to pay for whatever used to be free..Version: 6.1.4

PasswordWhen I installed the app I enjoyed the fingerprint application to open now it won’t allow me to use the fingerprint to open I am now requiring to type in password which is very annoying.Version: 5.7.2

Gets the job done, can’t complain about being grandfatheredI bought the full version of mSecure back in version 5 for about $30. It did the job fine and it still does the job fine in version 6. Despite the slight grumble and eye roll I made when mSecure switched to a subscription model I can’t complain too much about my lifetime subscription being grandfathered (although I did lose a few minor features, some more important than others), but it still irks me to see this become a monthly / annual subscription and it makes me concerned about the future direction of the app. That aside, the interface is modern (though I’d personally redesign it) and I can feel fairly safe in knowing I have one secure place to put my passwords. OTP support is a nice feature too. So overall, 3 stars. That doesn’t mean the app is bad, it’s just that there’s nothing incredibly special about it and also indicates my concern about its future value. I’d love to hear from the developer about their position and I’ll consider revising my admittedly lukewarm review..Version: 6.1.4

Disappointed with force migration to v5I have been using v4 as a paid user for years. For some reason the developers decided to build v5 as a completely separate app in the store, rather than iterate the existing app. Now when v4 falls behind it simply drops support and the only way I can use this product (basic feature of generating a backup) I have to pay again almost £30. Why should your customers have to pay again? Very dissatisfied. Would have been a 5.Version: 5.7.2

Petty recent changeI was contemplating paying for this app as I have used it free for a while but a recent petty change has made me rethink … I got a new iPad and downloaded the newest app onto it. To transfer my password to my new device it need to pay … annoying but hey the developers deserve to make some money. I was working my way to making a payment though balking at it being a subscription rather than a one off payment but then fingerprint opening got switched off. Petty, very petty …. Suffice to say I’m not going to subscribe and I genuinely came so close to paying!.Version: 6.0.7

Apple Watch app terribleAlthough I enjoy using the iPhone/iPad version of this app the Apple Watch version is terrible. When it finally loads after crashing several times it only displays 2 of my 80+ entries then crashes again 😤😤😤 Delete app!!!.Version: 5.6.4

Latest update is a money grabSo I guess my phone auto updated the app and now you need a subscription to use Face ID to unlock mSecure - such a dirty money grab! I’ve been using this app since it came onto the App Store and have recommended to many, but will be deleting now. Way to lose customers!!!.Version: 5.7.3

Gone backwards from v4Downloaded this for a trial. The pretty new interface is harder to read thanks to spidery thin font and pastel colours. It has lots of new features but I don’t use half the old ones anyway. Plus they want $46 to get it to sync to other devices. App deleted, I will stick with the old version..Version: 5.6.4

Nagging Prompts To Upgrade To PremiumI’m currently on the “Essentials” “tier” and since some time I’m getting a very annoying prompt to upgrade to “Premium” every single time I open the app! Every. Single. Time. And every single time I dismiss the prompt for it to appear again! Every! Single! Time! There is a very good reason why I’m on the “Essentials” “tier” - I don’t need any of the “features” that are on the “Premium” “tier”, and I believe that the “Essentials” “tier” exists for that exact reason - not everyone has use of the “advanced” “features”. One other “feature” I, and everyone else on the “Essentials” “tier” clearly doesn’t need is the nagging prompt to upgrade to whatever-it-is-being-offered. One time “advertisement” of the “better” “tier” is, kind of, OK, but displaying it every single time the app is opened is annoying to say the least! The only upgrade will be to another password management app! Please turn off this “feature” or I’ll be forced to take my business elsewhere! Anyone else I recommended mSecure to, also!.Version: 6.1.2

UPDATE- knocking off stars due … it was great password manager out thereUPDATE - I am still a fan, however recently I am getting a notification every time I open the application to upgrade. As a longtime user who has decided not to upgrade this is very annoying. if you want to let me know once in a while like twice a year, perhaps fine but not every time I open the app. I am a long time fan of msecure having used it for years. Yes the upgrade to msecure 5 was not the best and many of us had major issues. Yes there was initial poor communication regarding the release but then there was an acknowledgment and apology. I had issues and reached out to support and the support was fabulous. They were patient and responsive. I love being able to export my entire volume of spreadsheets to one excel document as that gives me security that no matter what my information is always accessible. Give the developers a break and you won’t be disappointed with this clean, crisp, easy to use app..Version: 6.1.1

Be careful trusting this applicationThey hold your passwords ransom during upgrade cycles. If you don’t pay, you lose all your passwords. Extortion. Be careful trusting this application. These other reviews are too fluffy, and… obviously fake. Try a different password saver..Version: 5.7.2

Great app with One big problem! Here is the security issue with this new version. You MUST create an account to unlock your secure info and that account is cloud based. So Right out of the gate you send your master password to Msecure/cloud. I created a test account and then disabled my phone connection to cell service and WiFi and tried to change the master password and guess what happened - a message that says I must connect to the cloud to change my password. For this reason and only this reason I'm giving one star. Not good Mseven Software, not good. Oh, and before the developer response telling us how secure their cloud service and website are, just remember everyone is hackable. A company responsible for passwords, what a nice target that would be for a bad guy. And what if they had a court order to give up our passwords how do you think that would play out. The bottom line is, once it’s out there it’s not under your control. Having said that, I love their old offline version!.Version: 5.7.2

Good app but asks for reviews incessantlyPlease stop ask8ng me to rate and review the app. I have better things to do than endlessly click “not now” on the annoying pop ups,.Version: 5.6.3

Killer feature removedI specially bought the older mSecure some time ago because it offered syncing over home WiFi, without going through the cloud. Although this feature was belatedly reintroduced to this new version, the new app still requires creating an account with mSecure and logging in with that. Why? I want my passwords completely separate from any third parties’ cloud, as the old mSecure provided. I'll keep using the old version and regret paying in advance for this "upgrade"..Version: 5.5.3

Missing something?Used version 4 for several years. One thing I miss (or haven’t found) in version 5 is the ability to create my own category for data. Not every thing I enter is a login, or a credit card, etc. I really miss being able to create my own type of category with free form fields. The biggest mistake I made was in version 4, I lost track of my actual password to get into the app. Sure, I was able to use my bio print, but wish there was a good way to change that forgotten all important master password. The email at work where I deal with sensitive patient and student data is easier to change. And finally, what was the use of having all those backups if I can’t import that data...into the new version; or even print it out as a reference? I upgraded my phone and all my apps except mSecure 4 transferred data...from old phone to the new one. So since I was going to have to start all over and reenter ALL that data, I went ahead and upgraded to version 5. Big mistake..Version: 5.7.1

Not offering what it say anymoreWhy did you get rid of facial recognition and Touch ID?! Why give an app a facelift and force people to pay them not offer the features you say you offer. Used this app for years now I’m looking for another that keeps up with the times. Password only access is prehistoric. Thought we were trying to improve things. Gave the old app five stars. This one would’ve gotten 5 as well but we seem to be moving backwards now.Version: 5.5.2

You'll be getting more than you bargain forI bought the $30 version of this app. So far it seems to be OK at its job. BUT! Without prior disclosure, the mSecure app comes with the capability of allowing my ad blockers to be completely bypassed and, for example, allowing a number of big ads to be dropped into and around the newspaper I read daily. Moreover, mSecure has apparently outsourced its customer support work to some third party, with which they are careful to explain they have no connection. This third party--with which mSecure says it has no connection--has no customer support telephone number I can locate. The third party company does have a website but that site has only been capable of sending me around in circles without being of any help at all in solving the problem of the unwanted ads that mSecure has allowed to be inserted. In short, I've found this third party website essentially useless. as a source of assistance. So, I've paid for the newspaper, I've paid for the mSecure password vault, and I've paid for the ad-blocker only to find that mSecure has found a way to bombard me with unwanted ads and no way to turn them off and no way to get a refund..Version: 5.6.4

AppUsed to love this app but now when I try to use it to automatically put in login details on a website it doesn’t actually let you, this seemed to happen after an update. Please review and fix the issue!.Version: 5.7.3

MSecure version 6WARNING!! This is not just a regular upgrade to version 4 or 5. It is a subscription and if you have auto app upgrades turned on (as I did) your current version will be overwritten. You will not be given an option to reject upgrade or authorize subscription fees. Much worse the password storage and backup files are NOT compatible with version 4 or 5 and version 6 will NOT sync with your other devices unless you upgrade all of them Msecure does not provide any method to roll back to previous version and you cannot delete version and reinstall version 5. There is no way to try version 6 and keep version 5 should you not want a subscription or don’t like the changes in the new version. Further, if you use earlier versions on other devices you will get dunning messages to upgrade or warnings that the old app may not work in the future and your data will be lost. The Apple App Store should never allow marketing of this type..Version: 6.0.6

Sync completely brokenFor some reason, the developers have completely screwed up local WiFi syncing. There is a single toggle switch for automatic wifi syncing, but no manual button to launch a sync. 99% of the time auto sync fails with “Computer busy”, and then there is no way of restarting a sync from the device. Utter rubbish. EDIT: With the new version, the developers sould appear to have made the syncing issues even worse. I synced a new password with the master computer, then found that the old password from another device was then synced to the master - overwriting the new password - and then it synced to my other device as well. Clearly, the new v6 has a buggy sync mechanism that is not able to distinguis old vs. new, and then syncs the wrong way. Impossible to recommend something that is likely to lose your passwords as you change and then sync them. Avoid!.Version: 6.0.3

App doesn’t work anymore and support your is not respondingWarning!!! Do not buy this app or any of their subscriptions in version 6. The app is no longer working and support is not responding to any support requests. They’ll be taking your money and leave you in the dark..Version: 6.0.0

Latest Version (6) is a DisasterIt is time to abandon what was an excellent password manager. I have been using Msecure for years and am very reliant on it but enough is enough. The introduction of version 6 was badly handled, Macs were updated to the new system when the iOS devices could not update making synchronisation impossible. Now the iOS version 6 is thankfully out. But, what was simple is now tricky. Just finding the record you want can be impossible because you accidentally tapped a small arrow while scrolling the screen. Older Macs have also stopped synching as version 6 is not available on the same range of Mac operating systems as was version 5..Version: 6.0.3

Use to be a good productLoved the older version, but this new release is garbage. It no longer carries the full URL over to Safari when making that selection (trims everything after the “.com”). Now I’m also seeing that many of the features they indicated would still be included after the upgrade, are no longer part of included with the version that I purchased a little over a year ago. They pretty much tricked me into installing the new version, because it started coming up with warning messages that the current version I was using was no longer supported and the new version would still have all the features I was using included in the free (their words) version and only new features would be in the premium. I will be moving off Msecure as fast as I can. I can’t imagine how many people will get locked out of Msecure when they disable touch or Face ID..Version: 6.0.2

Horrible, do not upgradeI upgrade from version 4 to this one and the pictures in my notes are all gone. Not showing at all and even been deleted from my original version 4. I had screenshots from some handwritten passwords and they all gone. Developer rushed into subscription version update without making the migration properly. It’s money grab with a major bug in their software. I moved to Norton and it not only better but also it’s free..Version: 6.0.7

Nickel and diming us nowI have had this app for a few years now and was very happy with it initially. Then I was disappointed when they wouldn’t support the old version and had to pay for the new version to continue using it. Now I tried to log into the app with my thumbprint and discovered that with the recent update they are going to charge me for that feature, however there isn’t even a way to sign up for that feature so I still can’t use my thumbprint even if I wanted to pay for it. I understand developers need to make money, I just believe that you should choose a method of making money and stick to it rather than adding more nickel and diming ways to collect from your customers. I will be trying other apps to hopefully find a better replacement..Version: 6.0.8

Version 5, 2 stars; older versions, 4 starsDevelopers claim, with pride, that version five is new from the ground up and not simply an upgrade of prior versions. Unfortunately, this seems to be true. While it a added some new features, it neglected to bring over some useful old features. Furthermore, no thought seems to have been given to migrating from old versions to version five. The process of migrating itself is cumbersome and obviously not thought out. And as a result migrated data are filled with errors. They would have been much better off doing version five as a major overhaul of earlier versions cleaning the good illuminating the bed and adding new features. Overall, a pretty poor job. Imagine upgrading to a new version of Excel and finding some nice bills and whistles, but also finding shortcuts that you used to use no longer being available, and worse, that the data in your old spreadsheet are now garbled..Version: 5.5.3

Crashes constantlyEver since the latest version, I can no longer even use the app. As soon as I enter the app, it crashes. I’ve used mSecure since version 4 and always found it to be reliable and my most useful app. Upgrading to version 5 started syncing and backup problems for me and now version 6 is unusable..Version: 6.0.0

Used to be a great appI have used the free version MSecure for many years. I don’t begrudge the company for making a pro version with more features, but they seemed to have pushed out some of the basic features into the pro version to force you to upgrade. If these features had always been on the pro version I would understand, but they started out free to draw in new customers and then were moved up after the app gained more recognition You used to have the ability to create an email backup and automatic sync was a pro feature. This was a bit slow and clunky, but it was nice in the event something happened with my phone. Now all backups are a pro feature and when my wife and I bought new phones this weekend we were left high and dry without any way of backing up our data. Actual quote from this weekend, “Sorry Wife, the app that we have used for years has decided to put the free version of backing up our data behind a paywall and I didn’t notice so our options are to spend $30 right now or just lose the data.” Thanks for that argument. Next feature that is missing is the biometric login. I had touch login on my previous phone, but after upgrading to the iPhone 11 it is now locked behind a $30 paywall. I understand you get more “features” for that $30 than just the biometric login, but why is that a pro feature in the first place? There are tons of apps out there where it is a basic feature so charging money for it seems like a money grab..Version: 5.7.1

CrashFor the past few years haves used this app successfully. Now it crashes every time I open it and no longer have access to my passwords.Version: 5.7.3

Change in access methodInstalled free version of this app some time ago. Access was via thumb print. Recently this has changed and it appears only the payed version now has thumb print access. No issue with the the app developer making this a payed feature, but don’t change the rules for people already using app. I wouldn’t have selected your app if this was a payed feature in the first place.Version: 5.7.2

Password Face IDI bought this app several years ago and generally liked it. However, they have ONCE AGAIN ignored the fact that I own it and are now trying to force me to buy it again. They’ve done this a couple of times before. After I bought a new iPhone 15 and transferred everything to it, suddenly my Face ID doesn’t work; they’re forcing me to use my password again, saying that Face ID is now a “premium feature.” They know that having to enter your password over and over makes it essentially unusable. NO!! Face ID is an Apple iPhone feature and I paid a lot of money for it. THIS is a major pain in the gozaimus so I’m planning to move my passwords to another app. If you like being scammed, I recommend mSecure. Just be prepared to get periodically bent over the old barrel. Fortunately, I have an encrypted file where I keep certain information. I kept my mSecure password there or I would’ve lost all my passwords when Face ID no longer worked. If THAT had happened, it would’ve cost me an incredible amount of money. I would’ve then turned it over to my attorney and sought punitive damages; maybe even a class action law suit since I see people complaining about this ridiculous customer betrayal. Passwords are not a frivolous matter. We’re not talking about losing your Pokey Man scores or a Disney movie. This app can no longer be trusted. Sorry. I’m done..Version: 6.1.5

Not happy with upgradeI have been using version 4 for a long time, when version 5 became available, i downloaded it thinking it would sync... it wont sync all my passwords, i am missing 60 and no matter how many times i follow instructions, it doesn't help Why didn't you just merge the 2 versions, so frustrating as i am unable to open on my mac which only allows version 5.Version: 5.7.2

Free Update MisleadingI have used the old version 4 for many years and always like Msecure. Suddenly, I got a message saying I can now ”upgrade for free”, so I did. After installing and importing my data I then found I was on a ”free trial” and a very basic feature like touch ID requires the upgrade. For now, I will stick with the old version that has touch ID and if this changes, or becomes unsupported, I will switch to something like LastPass. A real shame because the new version has a lovely interface. Main con: Touch ID a premium feature.Version: 5.6.4

Disappointed to have to pay againI purchased the app many years ago and while I understand the need to generate new revenues continuously, I am having to pay again to use previous features that were included in my app. Other than that, app is solid but will probably need to find an alternative to avoid paying high monthly / annual fees..Version: 6.0.8

Purchase counts for nothingI paid for an app based on it’s functionality. That functionality has now changed and items such as groups have now been removed. I have 352 records which now require me to go back and edit each one to recreate grouping as a tag. If you wanted to create a new yearly subscription app you should have done just that and left alone a perfectly good app. I don’t want to pay yearly. I’ve already paid nearly £30 for an app which you’ve just screwed up, not to mention stupidly talking my wife and an elderly friend into paying for this app. Put the app back as it was, you know, the one I paid for!.Version: 6.0.0

Forced to upgrade to newer edition, then lost features behind a paywallI used to love the app. Then I was forced to upgrade to a newer version because the version I had was no longer going to be supported. No big deal, fine by me. But now the basic features I use to have, like biometric login, are now locked behind a paywall. Shady business practices. Do not recommend. Edit: Wow what a despicable developer response. I received a message upon opening mSecure 5 that it was no longer supported and I would need to update to version 6 to continue using it. Asserting that this is not happening is ludicrous when you have multiple individuals telling you it is occurring. Hiding behind OS updates being the source of these forced updates is also dishonest. You chose not to support previous versions. You chose to move previously free content behind a paywall. If you want to develop new features and charge for them, that’s completely understandable. Pulling the rug out from your customers by charging for what was previously free is the source of our ire. Do better..Version: 6.0.8

Very complicated to use and customer service not helpingAfter long time with mSecure will migrate to a different password manager. expensive and very confusing to use. after deleting my account by mistake( the prompt not explaining what mean delet the account, as apparently was deleting only the vault on a specific device instead was deleting the entire account and now impossible to have back all the items saved)! A good product now is useless.Version: 6.0.8

Facial recognition was included beforeNow you have to pay for this basic function that they decided is now premium, will be deleting soon..Version: 6.0.8

Was good, until forced to upgrade, due to lack of supportMSecure 4 was great, then I received a warning that it may not work on future iOS updates, so I was forced to pay for the new version 5, only to find when I did this I couldn’t sync with the version on my win 7 pc, I also find that version 5 is not as good as 4, small irritating problems that were not present on the previous version.Version: 5.7.3

AdministrationWhile the actual app is great, I have found over the last 2 years that the administration staff leave a lot to be desired. Contact with them and settling resolutions are far from acceptable. I’ll keep using the original app as I have paid for it and it works well. However, after paying for the two most recent updates(4/5) I have yet to use them as I cannot get the QR authorization and in submitting requests for contact keep receiving “no-reply” emails which tell me nothing and take me nowhere..Version: 5.5.2

Frustrating Touch ID in iPhoneWhen I toggle back to mSecure the screen is locked but the Touch ID button is missing - I have to close the app and reopen the app to get it back - frustrating.Version: 5.7.1

Images don’t sync over wifiGood App. Only outstanding issue is that images do not sync over wifi which could cause loss of data if sync is used as a form of backup..Version: 5.7.2

Used to love this, Devs got greedyYou’re kidding yourselves if you think I’m going to pay $45 a year for this. Would be fine paying that for a full version ONCE but as an annual subscription it is a joke. Removing Touch ID as a free feature is probably the greediest thing you could do..Version: 6.0.7
