Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II Pros

Clasic Dawn of War II - Great RTSGreat port of Dawn of War II. It plays very smooth on high graphics settings on my iMac (5K Late 2014). I have played about a dozen or more missions and not encountered any bugs. Great storyline that keeps you entertained. Good mix of “Space Marines” that you get to build up throughout the missions. A good deal of equipment becomes available as you play. The missions are a little repetitive but they do a pretty good job throwing in some changes here and there. The boss battles are pretty tough. Great RTS game..LeftBrainOnlyVersion: 1.0

Doesn't work on Macos 10.14 MojavePlease fix.VinsentruVersion: 1.0.2

False DawnCan’t fault the port to Mac, everything seems to work fine and Feral seem always to deliver the goods. I can’t rate the game itself particularly highly however, because it seems to offer a pretty shallow experience compared to its predecessor. I get that the RTS needed to evolve after the base building era of games like DoW I, Command and Conquer, Starcraft, Warcraft etc - but the baby was thrown out with the bath water here in the quest for innovation. Building is completely gone - in the place of that…nothing really got in to keep the game half as interesting, other than some silly rpg lite weapon pickups. Some would say the game is a streamlined take on the first DoW. I would say it is dumbed down. The game smugly advertises itself as a more tactical offering, allowing synergy of units and strategies, but the controls are far too imprecise to allow for this to work in a satisfying manner. What you need for a good tactical game is probably a turn based style a la Xcom or Full Spectrum Warrior... Too often here you are clicking to advance your units, which place imprecisely and only half in cover. No enemies can be seen, so you are forced to advance without much of a plan. Then you get bushwhacked and are reacting. No setting up of ambushes, canny defensive play here. Always reacting to imperfect situations which you couldn’t really control or foresee. Boss fights are unsatisfying, panicky click-fests where you are just kiting the enemy until he drops. I was a big fan of the preceeding DoW games, and feel that they were far better than this game. I really wish that those beauties would get the Mac Store release, which they deserve more than this did. The nearest to the original DoW kind of experience on the Mac Store is the excellent Company of Heroes I, which was a better stab at an evolution of the RTS from these developers. That said, If you’re a fan of the 40k fluff, you’ll still enjoy this, but don’t expect too much..Jackson EliasVersion: 1.0
