✓ Amazing SynthI’ve owned this synth for years and wow, some of the sounds on here and that I have made very easily rival some of the intense processing found in my vst collection in the studio... insane app. Anyone who wants and extremely powerful synth with fantastically diverse and sonically true sound, you’ve found it. 0 hesitation, and I don’t write many app reviews 👌🏼.Version: 2.1.3

✓ UniqueIceGear makes some really nice, percussive resonator synths with smooth arpeggiators, simple one page editing and solid presets. Mersenne is wonderful for bright bells, plucks and even some darker deep percussive sounds that are ideal for sequencing and arps. To top it all off-Midi learn and Auv3 and IAA support are included. I’ve been an IceGear fan since Cassini was my very first iOS synth and they still continue to deliver solid and unique products. Well worth your money..Version: 2.1.2

✓ Cool sounds/functionality; a bit nicheI'm a big fan of the other synths from this company (particularly Cassini). This one is solid and well-implemented with AudioBus, IAA, etc. But I did feel that the "bell"-like sounds were a bit same-ish and limited in their usefulness in music making. That may be a bit unfair, since it's basically intended as a niche product, but it's tough for workflow to have a separate app that might do supplementary noises without also being able to handle more traditional bass and lead sounds. For example, I feel like an app such as Thor or FM4 could do a lot of what this app does, plus a lot more. That said, it's affordable, small, and the sounds that are there are very decent. 4 stars..Version: 1.0

✓ Niche Synth, but brilliant part of the trilogyThese little iceWorks synths are marvels of gorgeous and intuitive interfaces, generously populated with great presets to tweak into your own personalized versions, great FX and perfectly implemented Arps. Yes, they (this, Laplace, Lorentz), are niche virtual instruments, each one limited to a specific kind of timbre, but they are beautifully designed, and they sound terrific stand alone or in the right mixes....Version: 1.1.3
✓ Great Specialty FM SynthMersenne is a percussion synth that is capable of much more than FM drum sounds. It can create capable chimes and bells, metallic sounds and even other more traditional synth sounds. All of the sounds tend to be a bit dirty and thin. The engine is quite similar to Laplace, their resonator synth with a different interface. They could have combined the two easily enough but I am satisfied owning each separately..Version: 1.1.1
✓ Thanks for AU support!This is one of my most favorite iPad synths. When I saw Laplace get AU3 support, I was hopeful Mersenne would as well. Now that time's here and I just MIDI sequenced a quick track with it in GarageBand. The AU layout is good and scrolls smoothly to see everything. All of the effects parameters are exposed, too. I personally prefer AU to IAA or AudioBus. And I love Mersenne, so today's a great day. Thanks, IceGear!.Version: 2.0.0
✓ Wonderful and uniqueI like how this FM+Resonator synth focuses on a particular sound. It sounds a lot like some of the instruments in a Gamelan ensemble. When combined with the arpeggiator and delay it's easy and fun to compose a sort of modern synthesized version of a Gamelan. That's mainly what I use it for, and because I have an affection for Gamelan music, this synth brings a smile to my face when working with it. Mersenne's MIDI implementation is excellent. The controls are very functional and easy to use. The two Tone generators, the Noise generator, Resonator, drive and delay, chorus and reverb are logically laid out and instantly useable. The arpeggiator is especially powerful, letting you design your own patterns for saving and recalling. The minimalistic elegance in Mersenne's design is apparent and well suited to the sounds this synth produces. The single-mindedness of Mersenne's sound is very much a plus in this case. Because Mersenne is so good at getting that Gamelan type sound, including different tuning systems, especially Far East tunings would be an excellent addition to this synth and would qualify it for a legitimate 5 star rating. I can manipulate the detuning, glide and other parameters to get a slightly faux eastern sound, but that's not the same as an authentic Gamelan tuning. Overall one of the best and most enjoyable synths of 2016..Version: 1.1.4
✓ Link has strange propertyLove all iceworks apps. I have all the recent Link-enabled ones and they are always the first ones I open during a session. For some reason, when the apps join the network they interrupt the tempo of the session first instead of looking at what the current tempo is first and changing to that. This can really jumble what would otherwise be a seamless and enjoyable experience. All the synths sound great and I love the arp and hold buttons. I also love that they have standard midi functionality..Version: 1.1.4

✓ Simply one of the the bestsMany people be out here “taking iPad music seriously” since Logic came out but this baby has been around for a while and half the synths on PC and Mac couldn’t hold a 1 minute staring contest against Mersenne. This guy is “Magnifico” 🙏🏼. Iceworks forever!.Version: 2.7.1
✓ Quasimodo's favourite app!The bells, the bells.... If you like bell sounds, then this app is the new pretender. Very slick, single screen interface, and lovely variable sounds...if you like bells. It will be a 5 star app when the developers add more variety (there are not that many presets) allow the app to save/ load its last settings, and (across their whole range) wake up to Ableton Link. ✓ Great synth!One of my favorite iOS synths. Being able to import third party sounds, along with the included great sounds, really sets this apart from other iOS offerings.
