I spent £3 on this game because I'm a big fan of the original New Star Soccer and I like the fact that you can personalise your player more, start at a youth academy at a big club and improved gameplay however the game basically consists of reading. ✓ A different game same nameI loved the original new star soccer and was amazed that it got a sequel but when getting I noticed its nothing really like the original, it's mostly a book you read big pages about how you attacked the left wing or there was a tackle with the same gameplay as the original I just felt bored reading the pages to have a little shoot or a pass them to have to read 3 pages again didn't like and didn't get far in the game as I got to bored so I deleted my tip is don't buy this one just keep playing the original.Martin7tkdVersion: 1.0.5

✓ AwfulI'm a huge fan of New Star Soccer still play it now. Bought this and was really excited to see how this plays out. Disappointed is an understatement I've got to Chapter 6 and deleted it. Game consists of a s!&£ load of dialog which isn't even interesting. You get a little interaction and also don't even know what it means when scoring. ✓ Great idea but way too shortI really like the idea but it felt like they could have made the story longer because just as it felt like it was getting started, it ended. Also, the choices barely make much difference overall. I played again and missed every opportunity. I started off thinking maybe if I miss every chance, the game just ends near the start because the scout doesn't think I'm good enough? However, you still get told you played amazingly in most parts of the game and there's a match where the game forces you to score a hattrick despite missing every chance. I thought it would be more like those choose your own adventure books I had as a kid where you can "lose" and end the story right near the start if you make bad decisions..BenRFCVersion: 1.0.4

✓ Promising but feels like half a game.Actually think the writing is pretty good and it reads well. Just that it feels like the story is just setting the scene and the real game should start after. The game as is, finished within 1-2 hrs of play. I think it should revert to like the old NSS once the story finishes and you go through the rest of your players career like that. As is you play just a handful of matches over half a season and then that's it. After getting into it it feels very anti climatic. There arguably is some replay value but as it is I doubt I will do that just to deliberately make poor decisions to see how things go in that scenario. ✓ Unfulfilled potentialI didn't mind the format, reading through a story making choices, but there are barely half a dozen choices and very few have seemed to impact fully on the game. The amount of actual on the field play is very limited, the dialogue is very predictable and just when it feels like it's getting going it ends abruptly. This isn't a long game, it's a 4 match cup run and for the price I feel like it could/should have been so much more. Like a mix between this NSS and the original alongside the amount of game play as Score Hero would have been brilliant. ✓ Should've read these reviews!Oh what a huge let down. I loved the original NSS, but this is utter rubbish. You barely get to play any full games, over 1000 pages (!!!) of dreary, predictable story which is actually very linear. Don't buy this thinking you'll get the same addictive and classic arcade feel soccer experience as NSS. It's just a mash up of training exercises, about 4 full matches in total and a pathetic story line that a GCSE English student might as well have written. ✓ Needs improvementIt's a good idea and the game isn't bad, yet it could be so much better. First off like others have pointed out its far too short. Even though this game is based on it's storyline the story itself starts to drag slightly. After playing half way through the game I found myself skipping a lot of the dialogue because it either didn't interest me or it was too long and boring. The interactions should be much more in depth rather than it just being a copy and paste short novel. If you tend to skip the story then this game is ridiculously fast to finish and feels unfulfilling. There's also not enough actual gameplay like in the first game and tends to disappoint because of this. Finally you only play one season which is no where near enough to feel like you accomplished something in this game, it only feels like only the beginning of it rather than the whole career. ✓ Nice idea....then half finished.Loved the first game before it became an overload of ads. See the new game was paid so had it in my mind that we could all enjoy the great fun of the first game without all crap they piled on to it in later updates. The good news is, the latter is true! No ads and a great story that reads well and make what I thought would be the start of an epic rise to stardom. This is were is all falls down, there is a rise but it's sort lived and at the end of what I assumed was my first season the game was done. No follow on after the story, just a try again and make different choices and the story will be different. There was only around 10 choice to make in the so called career mode so no real depth after playing 2 or 3 time. I feel that £2.99 was a lot to pay for was it an e-book with very limited fragment of the old game laid on top. ✓ ARE YOU JOKING?!£2.99 for that? It's just flicking through uninteresting pages of an extremely average and predictable story! How much depth and progression did you expect to squeeze out a 2D football app? The writing just comes off as cheesy and extremely cringe-worthy most of the time. And, there's hardly any actual football that takes place! I'd say around 10% of the whole story (about 40 minutes if you're a fast reader😂) takes place on the pitch, as you only play a handful of matches - but that doesn't matter cause it's not like there's a competitive league table like last game or anything, it's just an anti-climactic cup run. ✓ Not worth the priceI'll start with the positives. The gameplay is amazing it news that soccer with upgraded graphics and even some new features. Training feels more refined here as well. Now The negatives I couldn't care less for the story. I read the first few chapters to start with and got bored. The choices you make don't really impact anything until the one of the last choices in the game. I played through it on three separate saves and found no variation in the story. Dave wild always gets jealous of you and it's annoying. If you don't train it doesn't matter your character doesn't get better or worse. I also found the page turning to be glitchy at times but I'm sure they will fix it. This game is not worth its price. Just get new star soccer and make up a story. Making up a story in that game is way more exiting than this pre written garbage. New star soccer may not have as good graphics but it's realism seems better.
