✓ Freezes every timeWe love the concept of the app. My son loves building up to get a pet surprise but every time we play it freezes and we have to log out and back in. Sometimes that doesn’t work and we have to delete the app and install. This all takes time and definitely not worth it. How is he supposed to learn when it freezes every single time we play!! ✓ Loved it until it started crashingMy 5 yr old loved this app until it started crashing today. Wouldn’t load, was stuck on the ‘leapfrog’ loading page then it would start chirping and bird sounds would start like on the character screen. I cancelled my subscription because it did this all day and even after I closed the app then reopened. Still did the same thing. Then I shut off my iPad Pro and turned it back on. Same thing. ✓ Hardly ever worksWe haven’t been able to enter the app for several months now. It just stays on the loading screen for several minutes then crashes and freezes the ipad. ✓ Crashes all the timeI never write app reviews, so the fact that I feel so motivated to write one says a lot. I really wish the developers would get their act together. I have a daughter that absolutely loves this game. I have 2 iPads and the app does not work on either. It freezes constantly. The only way I can get control of it is to delete it and re-download it. I would simply delete it and be done, but she loves it so much. On my other iPad, the sound goes in and out so that you have no idea what you’re suppose to do or there’s no story-time soundtrack. It’s not the iPad as we use other apps and it’s my home music library. I am so frustrated! I give it 2 stars for content, but I should give it less for creating this fingernail-on-chalkboard affect of crying kids every 5 minutes that it freezes, crashes or fails in some way. ✓ DisappointedI love Leap Frog and we have owned several leap pads. After the new leap pad quit working, I decided I would go this route on my iPad. However, I can never get the sound to work. I have followed the instructions in the parent help section. I have it all the way up. I have checked and rechecked settings. No go. ✓ App is unresponsive to touch screensIf it works, my kids really enjoyed the app. I wasn’t able to have them use it long enough to gauge how effective it is as a learning tool. We have an iPad Pro, iPad, iPhone 8, iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 (I am an app designer myself) and the app doesn’t work on any of them. At a random point shortly after opening, the app will simply become unresponsive to the touch screen, and acts like it’s waiting for you to do something. Seems like a bug, but it has been weeks without a fix which is a bummer. We have no choice but to cancel the subscription and discontinue use..Version: 1.19
✓ Great, when it works.My kids enjoyed the app the first time they played with it (according to them, it is way better than the educational app they were using before), the next time they tried to play, it was frozen. After doing some looking around, I found instructions from LeapFrog on how to fix the problem. Once again, my kids enjoyed the app. Unfortunately, the way we had to set it up makes it so other things we use the iPad for, don’t work. ✓ Great if WorkingI have to sign into this app almost every time my daughter wants to use it. If she hasn’t been playing with it for a few hours, when she goes back to open it, it is requiring to sign up or sign in. I’ve uninstalled the app and reinstalled with same issues. Aside from that, this is a great app for my 4 year old. It has helped her with her reading and comprehension. She can play it with no help from me and includes me as she feels necessary. It also requires a magic (undocumented) combination of URLs to access when an iPad is in restricted content (allow only) mode. I’ve yet to get this to work. ✓ Horrible customer serviceLast December I signed up for a free trial of the app LeapFrog Academy. When signing up I was required to put in my payment information. Tragically, a few days after signing up we lost our baby boy. In the aftermath of grief I completely forgot about the trial (we didn’t even use it after the death of our baby) and didn’t even think about the subscription after the trial ended. I never received any alert or warning that we would be charged. With grief overshadowing our lives we didn’t check statements after our loss. I just recently noticed the app listed under my subscriptions and remembered faintly that I had signed up for a free trial. I contacted support to request a refund and have been told that refunds are only for recent subscriptions. Apple has used our tragedy for profit..Version: 1.22
✓ Doesn't work more often than it doesWhen the app works, it is great. The problem is it doesn't work more often than it does. It looks you out repeatedly and then it resets the game specific age setting to 6+ every time even though your parent dashboard will show the age that you set. You have to change the age setting on the left of that screen every time. Most of the time after it logs you out it will freeze on the loading screen when the bar is full. Restarting the app or iPad does no good. You have to delete the app and reinstall it every time. We have two tablets and it occurs equally often on both. Will cancel subscription if this continues. ✓ Absolute crapJust like everyone else here I tried the free trial. What a joke! When I tried using it, it didn’t work. So I went to the review page to find out if that was a normal thing, as you can see it is. So I unsubscribed from the app & never turned back. Until I had a charge on my bank account for $70! Now they will not refund me my money for a yearly subscription I can’t use, even though I emailed them the same day they charged me. (This is also been commented several times on the reviews) next time I’ll know I need to read reviews before I try a “free” trial. Leap frog you need to fix your app! ✓ Keeps Crashing!I wish I could say this app was great, because my 13 year old daughter loved LeapFrog products when she was learning to read, but this app is absolute trash. It’s constantly freezing and when it does work either the touch screen stops responding a couple of minutes in or the next screen won’t load. ✓ Disappointing - Fair and Honest Review (please read to the end!)This could be so good. The idea is really good. The app itself could be really good...if it worked. I saw the bad reviews but thought I would try it for myself. I signed up to a special offer of two months free trial. My two months is almost over and I have had less than 24 hours of access. It has been nothing but problems. Customer support were extremely unhelpful (I have called and sent numerous emails). When they finally managed to resolve the issue I had less than 24 hours of access before the app (and website) stopped working again. I contacted Customer support to ask if they would still honour our two month free trial as we have not been able to access the service offered at all, and I have had no further response. I cannot recommend this app, and I would give it 0 stars if that was an option. It is just not worth the disappointment of your child when the app stops working midway through a game and they are then unable to access it for weeks at a time. It’s such a shame as we are all huge leapfrog fans and loyal customers. I was even considering using this app as part of our homeschool setup but I think I will stick to more reliable educational resources and would highly recommend that others DO NOT WASTE THEIR TIME. It’s great when it works but as it hardly ever works it’s just not worth the money they are asking. There are better free apps that are more reliable! It would seem that there is no one at the company who even cares enough to address these problems and try to protect the leapfrog name and brand. Address these issues and you have a great app. In fact, if someone bothers to get back to me to resolve these issues I might even update my review. Until then, this will be another customer that you have lost. UPDATE Since writing this review I have had no response to any of the issues I have raised, however, I have had two days of uninterrupted access. This has meant that I have been able to take a closer look at the app and what it offers. I genuinely cannot deny the quality of content. Great educational material such as you would expect from trusted brand Leapfrog. The whole concept is really well thought out. It is engaging and entertaining and the children actually enjoy using the app. I will be increasing my one star review (which would have been a 0 star review if it had been allowed!) to a 2 star review. This is as follows: 1 star for concept and quality of content 1 star for pricing (which would be almost reasonable if everything worked as it should) Lose a star for failure to deliver on promised “free trial period” Lose a star for constant problems accessing content online and through app And lose another star for poor customer service I feel this is a fair and honest review. I will update my review if anything changes. It’s such a shame that we have been constantly let down by problems with the app and accessing the site online. It’s also disappointing that we have not had full access to our free trial as promised. This has meant that we have been unable to explore the app fully and see how this would fit into our homeschool setup. Overall we have had less than half a week of access during a two month free trial. RECOMMENDATIONS: • a dedicated support site for app • dedicated customer support for app with clear lines of access and communication via website, phone and email.Version: 1.19
✓ Not age appropriateThis game is NOT age appropriate. My daughter just turned 3 & isn’t familiar with numbers yet. She has no idea what they look like. INTRODUCING a child to preschool would be TEACHING them these numbers. Not expecting them to know them right off the bat. Big mistake since it’s pharmed to a 3rd party. ✓ Accessing Leapfrog AcademyI have the apple parental control restrictions setup on my daughters iPad where I have the specific websites she can visit entered only. I feel that the “limit adult content” setting is still too much freedom for an 8 year old if she wanders to the internet and accidentally searches...As a parent, I just don’t feel comfortable using someone else’s interpretation of what “adult content” is where my children are concerned. My point in explaining this is that when I have the controls set up this way, even if I place this app under “always allow”, the app will not launch. The only way I’ve been able to get it to launch successfully is to select “limit adult content” under the apple restrictions, which I am not comfortable with. Has anyone encountered this and found a way to fix it? Do I need to enter the leapfrog website as an accessible website, and if so, what is the specific site or sites? ✓ Could be great...This app could be great. My 4 year old loves the games and she’s learning without really noticing! But my goodness is this a buggy app!!! It freezes every 10 minutes or so and has to be restarted. It frustrates us both to no end. I’m still in my free trial. If it doesn’t improve, I can’t see renewing. Why pay for annoyance when there are plenty of other educational apps. ✓ Doesn’t WorkThis app is frustrating. My 4 year old loves it, loves the games and learning and collecting rewards and that’s why we bought a subscription. Unfortunately the app hardly ever works consistently. It has major issues loading just about anything so when we complete an activity it will crash, when opening the app it will crash, when we finish a Learning Adventure lesson to collect a reward it will crash, etc. The worst thing that has happened to us is that my child had collected a fair amount of collection pieces as well as character customization options that just disappeared and the app acted as if we had just started the app for the very first time despite us having 12 certificates and saving our progress. We have contacted customer support a few times and they’ve been less than helpful. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app (three times) which didn’t solve our issues and the only response I received was “It seems to be working on our end.” Based on the reviews I really doubt that considering I know somebody that has the Leapfrog tablet and they have the same issues we are having on iOS. I caution all parents because while the games are great the execution is incredibly frustrating and the lack of concern for support is downright infuriating. I was hoping they were fixing these issues but reviews from 3 years ago tell me that the concern for the developers isn’t in fixing these issues..Version: 1.22

✓ Needs workI wish I hadn’t paid for this. I wanted to love it. When we are able to access the content my son loves playing, but there are areas that have proven difficult to navigate and more often than not it has server connection issues and takes FOREVER to load or is difficult to play due to large lags. The printables are not age appropriate for the younger kids and don’t give a good introduction before jumping in and assuming they have an understanding or knowledge of the materials (especially letters). Over all I think the content needs to be revisited and updates to accommodate the ages it advertises. The app needs reworking to make it less bloated and easier to use. It would be nice if the avatar was more easily customizable as my son has somehow created a princess for himself... I don’t mind the princess, but it would be nice to be able to change it if he wanted..Version: 1.16

✓ Bad customer reviewWorst customer service I’ve dealt with. My kids used this app in kindergarten and are now in 1st grade and have outgrown this product. I just noticed it auto renewed today so I promptly called to cancel. They will not issue refunds. For a company serving kids and BUSY parents, do yourself a favor and get another product. The second person I talked to started yelling at me about their policies so I hung up on her. Lesson learned but I just want to warn anyone who is thinking about this product. ✓ Games freeze repeatedlyMy daughter got to the 2nd island and the game with the chicken eggs saying hello and goodbye stops responding repeatedly on my iphone. I have closed out the app. I have restarted my phone. There are other games in the app also freezing. I am up to date on all my software. I’m not having any issues with any other apps. My toddler doesn’t understand why I can’t make it work and is getting upset which stresses me out. This is NOT a situation that I want an app to put me in. I literally am paying for more stress in my life. But when the games in the app are working she loves it so much like all the other leap frog things we have gotten for her. The chicken game worked on my ipad so idk what the deal is..Version: 1.19
✓ PoorCould be awesome but sadly it is so unstable it does nothing but annoy me. Frequently hangs on a blue screen after logging in, literally have to uninstall and reinstall it daily to get around this. Then when in the app it will just freeze and stop responding leaving you with the music playing. Shame as the concept and content is good but I doubt I’ll be paying £7pm to be irritated by it daily!.Version: 1.12
✓ Constantly crashesThe overall thought is super nice. The app is fun with bright colors. However it crashes ALL. THE. TIME. I constantly have to restart our iPad to get it to work again. Super annoying as it’s a great app BUT super buggy. Definitely not worth being subscribed and paying monthly/ yearly for an app that just won’t work. Pass.Version: 1.22
✓ Could be great, nothing downloads, so you can’t play offline.Also, the app is really buggy and you have to force quit it all the time. These are not good qualities for young children..Version: 1.15

✓ No soundWe have ipad 2021 (ios15.) The app makes no sound. The sound comes back after I uninstall and reinstall while the app is open but the sound disappears every time after I close the app and open it again so I have to uninstall and reinstall and log in every day!!! Their solution “check the mute button on control center” does not help at all. Please fix it..Version: 1.22
