✓ Must use for Lycian Way and other treksIn short, TrailSmart is an incredible app with features that kept us 1. On the right trail 2. Safe on the trail and 3. Prepared mentally and physically for what was to come. The Trekopedia team provided real-time support when we had questions about the app content or when I had feedback to offer (email response within a couple of hours). I will be using TrailSmart for all my future long-distance hiking! My husband and I just finished walking the Lycian Way from Fethiye to Hisarcandir. This is an excellent but in many places rugged trail, and we could not have done it (or any of its sections) without TrailSmart. The features we used most often were: - trail map with GPS tracker - “magical yellow arrow” aka compass feature which always points to the next GPS point, helping us decide which way to turn when other indicators are unclear - elevation profile (with GPS capability displaying your current elevation) - water sources identified along the trail including status updates - details of lodging and campsites including location and amenities - communicating with the Trekopedia Team via email and the app “feedback” button was like having a Trail Angel whenever I connected to WiFi There is a learning curve to familiarize yourself with the app and how to access all of its features, which the “getting started” section in the app facilitates. For do-it-yourself trekkers, the cost of downloading the map (or free for all of the other features) is a worthy investment to access this compilation of professional and crowd-sourced wisdom. We are eternal fans of TrailSmart, and can’t wait for our next long-distance walk to use it again!.Version: 3.44
✓ Super helpful for the Lycian WayWe would literally have been lost without this app on several occasions when walking the Lycian Way. Where the path is indistinct and you miss it, the app guides you back onto it. And there is lots of useful info on places to stay and whether there are eating options along the route, with contact details..Version: 3.70

✓ Great Camino AppI found the app via reviews on a Camino forum. So the data sets I used were for the Camino Frances. Map integration is great. Got me out a hole on quite a few times (when the yellow arrows were pointing the wrong way or weren’t visible or I’d just got up too early and it was pitch black!) - just tap on the centre arrow and the blue dot is yourself and then easy to navigate back to the route. Finding hostels was a breeze, you can see what’s up ahead on the map and then tap on the hostel icons on the map and see a description to help you choose. It’s great to have the knowledge base right there on your phone not requiring data. (3/4G isn’t always there on the Camino!) TrailSmart are quick to respond to queries and are very helpful..Version: 3.22

✓ Throw all your other apps away !This App is all you need for your Camino Way trip or any other trail. We tried them all and this app and it’s support blew us away! The app is accurate and easy. It offers alternative routes, distances, compass, hotels and restaurants in the area, and much more. I cannot say enough about it. Truly a blessing as we traveled! ✓ Fabulous app and awesome developers..I can’t speak highly enough about these guys. They are simply spectacular people with hearts of gold who love walking/hiking and want to make the experience better for others. They are super responsive to enquires and welcome any constructive feedback. We were walking a trail they had not fully prepared but they expedited it so it was functional for our use. ✓ Camino FrancésI found TrailSmart invaluable while walking the Camino Francés, especially the interactive map. I introduced it to a British couple met along the Way who later said “you saved our life by telling us about TrailSmart”. That’s a bit overkill, but it helped them when they got off the beaten path. I especially like the offline capability of the interactive map as being from the States data can be expensive overseas. It is loaded with information. I’d give it 5 stars except that I found the user interface a bit cumbersome, but once you become familiar with the app and its capabilities, it is extremely useful. For trails supported, there is no need for a handheld Garmin or the likes. I hope they continue to add more trails..Version: 3.10
✓ SuperbI used this for the Camino and found it to be excellent. It was the only guide I needed saving weight which is important, but the functionality is what gets it five stars. I downloaded the map and database to have it even when off line which was the best thing to do. Cost was cheaper than any guide book which was nice. Highly recommend. I will be using it whenever I can in future adventures. I have just uploaded the new version which has all the qualities from before but now with a much simpler and clearer presentation..Version: 3.20

✓ Portugal and BeyondI wasn’t aware of this amazing resource until just before I left to walk my third Camino , the Portugues Some friends recommended TrailSmart and I downloaded it before I left Canada I have to say this resource is a gift in every sense of the word. It was extremely helpful for me along the way to Santiago and beyond to the Atlantic Ocean My future ambitions include walking the Coast to Coast in the UK, and perhaps the Via de la Plata. Hopefully TrailSmart will continue to develop and cover these routes although I understand that the huge task of developing these maps is done on a volunteer basis This is a wonderful resource for walkers and bikers around the world I highly recommend downloading it while planning and completing your next adventure..Version: 3.22
✓ Best Camino Francés appHands down the best app out there if you’re new to the Camino. You don’t need the maps, this app lets you know every turn and albergue. I just did my first Camino and i have to say, i used this app every day and just threw away the book i had. The albergue list is perhaps the best feature. If you’re new to the Camino and are worried about how it will be, trust in yourself that you’ll be fine and use this app, everyone I met on the Camino switched to it once I showed them, and it’s free. ✓ Fantastic!!!!!!I used this app when hiking the Lycian Way. It was absolutely invaluable and I’d recommend it to anyone and everyone. The map feature kept us on track (or got us out of trouble when lost). There is detailed information on the specific details of different sections was useful for both planning and also while hiking. Info such as places of interest, markets, and the location of wells and water sources was precise and almost always up to date (despite wells drying us and changes in track conditions these were almost always listed/updated). TrailSmart made the trek more enjoyable (we got more out of it with insider tips and tricks) and less stressful (knowing where wells were located or markets to pick up food). I would highly recommend and will use for all future hiking endeavours..Version: 3.22

✓ Fantastic resource for Lycian wayThis is a great app for hiking the Lycian Way. In our group of 3 we all installed and used the app extensively. Relying on the markers on the trail would have been quite frustrating, especially in the first part. Having the GPS allow us to have some comfort we were on the trail or help us get back on! Then there were all the additional bits- like gradients, distance travelled, accommodation on track- all helpful as you don’t want to be carrying paper. If hikers can provide updates then the app becomes even more useful. Well done to the developers..Version: 3.13

✓ TrailSmart is a great Camino app, and moreI have been using Eugene's earlier app, TrekRight while walking the Camino Frances in 2016. We are now back walking the Camino Portuguese, and after emailing a question about a feature in the original app, and getting an almost immediate response, he shared about his newest app, TrailSmart, so I took a look. There is much to like in TrailSmart, which includes data for all of the Camino so, and much more. The hardest part for me was finding the tools I wanted and needed, and when I sent an email, he responded quickly, and clearly. Here's the thing that impressed me most: Support was really quick, he was very open to my questions as well as my enhancement requests, which is not something I expected, given that the app is essentially free, with an option for purchasing expanded offline maps with 17 levels of zoom, that were hugely useful since waymarkers are not always available. This saved us many times when we could easily have gotten lost. ..Version: 3.10
✓ Must haveThis is a GREAT App. Incredibly useful tool for navigating on the Lycian Way. We would have been literally lost without it. The additional info (highlights, town info etc) really helped us plan ahead, and added to our enjoyment of the trail. Some of the additional info is written with a lovely, dry sense of humour which I thoroughly enjoyed. ✓ IndispensableUsed the previous incarnation of this App (Trekright) on the Lycian Way last year. This App was released just a couple of weeks before we embarked on the second leg of the Way. Very easy to get to grips with. If you are thinking of tackling any of the walks/treks that are included in Trailsmart you will find this an incredible resource. The maps are very detailed and the overlayed GPX track is accurate. This can be very reassuring, especially at points where the way-marks are a little scarce. As well as the map, there is a detailed trail description for each section and a comprehensive description of villages, pansiyons, restaurants etc. In conclusion, this is best companion you can have on the featured trails..Version: v3.02

✓ Indispensable on the trail especially the CaminoHaving walked the Camino 7 times and heading into another one on Portugal, I was thrilled when someone recommended this app near the end of my last camino. Having an offline map which clearly shows the routes and the elevations is so valuable to me as a guide. Recommending to all the participants on my journeys. For planning as well this makes it easy to select lodging close to the trail. The sections can be connected to the Brierley guidebook or others. I first used on my tenth Camino and found the offline map with geolocation and other functions exceptionally useful. The other information on terrain, accommodation etc is good. ✓ Can’t wait.....I stumbled across this app while planning to walk the Camino in a few weeks’ time. After I downloaded the map I had a slight problem syncing it to my iPad. However I emailed Eugene and his response came within a few minutes and the issue resolved almost immediately. Very impressive. I was then ready to play.... I’m able to customise my route, see the elevations I can expect (not sure that was wise on my part!) and even see a street view. It’s a really detailed app with lots of info about my chosen route and I can’t wait to use it on my walk. Hats off to Eugene for creating this - I love it..Version: 3.11
✓ Everything you need for the Lycian WayReally great app! Has everything from the detailed map (with any alternative routes and very precise GPS tracking (we could walk 2m down a junction and see if we’d taken the right path)), all accomodation options with phone numbers and (very) recent hikers’ experiences/prices and detailed instructions for path finding for each stretch of the trail. Didn’t need to use any other apps and could plan the next day’s hike and accommodation very easily from it.Version: 3.70
