The devotionals have helped me immensely... the insight, knowledge, application and point of view of familiar bible passages and biblical teachings is truly a breath of fresh air. As someone knee deep in working on themselves and completely rewiring their brain, these daily devotionals are something I look forward to every single day. There are plenty of apps out there designed to give you vague messages that could be interpreted at the surface level (think Co-Star), but these are well-crafted and almost God-ordained reminders that are worthy of publishing. They beautifully weave scripture with psychology (my two current favorite things) and really are a blessing. ✓ Love it!This app is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I grew up in a religious family, going to church on Sunday and saying my nightly prayers with my parents. Like some teenagers, I got lost and questioned my faith in God. I stopped going to church, stopped reading the word, and turned away. I tried filling myself up to the brim with school work and activities to keep me distracted from what I truly felt. I felt alone, depressed, and abandoned. I’ve tried app after app trying to force some sort of reconnection to give me the comfort that He was still there. None of them really resonated with me. I wanted to figure out if I really believed in what I’d been taught growing up, or if I had just never been taught different. I am so grateful for the gift you share of your words, thoughts, connections and art. They help me set my course for my day, remembering what is truly important. There have been moments when I have just a short amount of time (waiting for a bus, waiting in line) and need some grounding and reading the devotional is exactly what I needed. I have been introduced to so many of my now favourite writers through quotes shared and love the ability to save my favourites. As well, the wallpapers often become my own phone wallpaper to remind me of my focus for the day. Only hiccup would be that sometimes it has difficulty loading at the start though eventually it comes through. This could be my phone too. One feature that could possibly be useful would be a place where I could add notes to journal about a particular devotional to refer to at a later time. I had an issue the day I subscribed where I could not then access the message despite all the reboot tips. I was bummed, but I got a message about providing feedback, so I described my problem. The next day the app did work and it appeared to be just a glitch, but I was surprised to receive a personal email related to my feedback and to try to help me resolve the issue. I forgot to respond (because you know, life, kids...lol) but I was even more surprised to then receive a follow up email from the team to make sure my issue was resolved (I did respond here!). ✓ Yes!I‘ve been in the Christian bubble since I was a child. What I’ve found to be one of the most difficult things about the bubble and about relatability to Christianity in general is “Christian language”. On the one hand, in many Christian spheres, there is a disconnect from our humanity - speaking a language that does not translate to our earthly realities of pain, struggle, suffering, doubt, wrestling, questioning. There is sometimes an airy and whimsical language filled with fantastical concepts, platitudes and an overdose of sugary politeness. And on the other hand, there is a pedantic, intellectual language filled with scholarly concepts that miss the basic goodness of the gospel - a language that does not speak to the simple power of communion with God and each other by just being here and human and alive and present. The Practice Co devotionals are the sweet spot, the beautiful balance. Without sugarcoating and without being too heavy, the devotionals are both simple and profoundly deep. These short reads make Biblical concepts and perspectives (and Christian life in general) more real and relatable than hours long sermons I’ve listened to. Everything about my experience with The Practice Co has exceeded expectations. ✓ Huge Fan!I was introduced to The Practice Co. on Instagram when a friend sent me a post last year on grief...right after my dad passed away from cancer, only nine days after receiving his diagnosis. I like to do things “well,” and wanted to be intentional this past year on how to grieve...this account has helped me through that and appreciate life even more. I ironically work as a nurse in the intensive care unit, so am faced with sickness and death every day...yet feel more full of life than I probably ever have before.
