Toggl Track: Hours & Time Log for Negative User Reviews

App doesn’t do anythingWhen I launch the app nothing happens. Tapping on the controls does nothing. The app just shows the fake loading animations. I deleted the app are downloaded it but still nothing works..Version: 3.10.1

Not as functional as the old appDoesn’t update the time on all the other timers (e.g. desktop and mobile). Doesn’t always load the current running time (if you start it on desktop and then need to stop it on mobile). Interface is a little harder to use..Version: 1.0

Workspace management is poorDeleting a personal workspace and then creating a new one is a confusing and frustrating experience if you only have a phone. It’s not a process even available within the app, and without a workspace the app becomes non-functional until a new workspace is created through the web app (settings become inaccessible, there’s no way to log out, the prompt to create a new workspace doesn’t open anything, and uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t log the user out). I shouldn’t have to dig through a web app that only displays correctly in landscape view (with unlabeled buttons I assume I would hover over to read) to manage an account I only created and use from my phone. All settings could be part of the app, or at least easily linked to from the app in a mobile friendly UI, and those settings could be accessible even if the user doesn’t have a workspace set up. I hope that’s on the development roadmap..Version: 3.11.0

Unable to loginAfter the last update, something happened and I’ve been unable to login. It doesn’t recognize me. Even after creating a new account it still won’t log me in…Got sick of trying for days and finally deleted the app..Version: 3.9.3

Great system, terrible app, unnecessary UI changes that remove functionalityThis app might as well not work. You really can’t depend on it. They keep making UI changes that distinctly make the online version worse (it only shows one line of text instead of expanding). Effectively they are reducing the usability and logic of the system. Even in list view it doesn’t expand!?!? How could that have passed QA. Makes me wonder if the devs even use their app? Now, the latest issue is that the iOS app just doesn’t function. It has a task for hundreds of hours and it doesn’t allow me to stop or delete the task. This task doesn’t show up on the online version so I can’t delete it there either. Basically I cannot input into the system if I am not sitting at my desk on my computer - this reduces the consistency with which I can reliably use the app. The UI changes are change for the sake of change and only reduced the function since I can only see about 10 words at a time. You basically disregarded anyone that writes sentences instead of just bullet point tasks. I don’t understand why since those who write bullet points won’t expand the text box anyway. So you only removed a feature. As of now this app is unusable on iOS (this is on the latest ios and latest version of this app.Version: 3.9.3

Great app. But awful coloursThey’re just hideous! Perhaps give an option to revert to the old theme? Not tracking unicorn time here!.Version: 2.19

I like the conceptI like the idea of this app but I’m really struggling with it for some reason and I think I will be deleting it. I just don’t find it intuitive enough. I struggled to get it to attach my activities to “projects” so I could get the pie chart. I ended up with “no project” for things I wanted to sort into projects. I eventually figured that out but then for some reason it was adding an activity I recorded the day before to the current day’s activities, and I couldn’t figure out how to fix that. And now it’s telling me that I “haven’t updated the app in a while” and it won’t let me continue unless I update it. I clicked the link to do so but I can’t figure out what to do next. It only gives me the option to open the app again, not update it. In any case, I’m not sure why it’s telling me I haven’t updated in a while when I just downloaded it like four days ago! This is too frustrating and not worth it. Hopefully I can find an alternative that works better for me..Version: 3.9.1

Not sure what’s wrongI’ve used this app with great success for about a year now. Now, all of a sudden, it keeps resetting my API token and won’t let me sign in using my email and PW or with my Google account. I’m an independent consultant and have multiple projects going at once and need to have access to my hours and track time at a moment’s notice. If these glitches keep happening I will absolutely have to change to a different app. PS - while the free version will let you track total time for different projects, you can’t look back longer than about a month. So if you are tracking a multi-month project and need to submit daily hour logs, make sure you write down your hours before the 30 days is up or you’ll have to guess..Version: 4.1.0

A lot of room for improvementI understand the app covers a wide range of use scenarios. Personally, I only use it on my phone to track work time. The most aggravating part is that if you work late at night, the app doesn’t know which day to assign it to, and even assigns it differently in different parts of the app! For example, today I worked three hours before midnight on January 31st. But they appear on February 1st when you look at hours clocked over the week! This is extremely aggravating. Consistency would be good, but even better would be the option to set, say, 5am as the day cutoff, so late night work appears on the night it was performed. The app is also a little tricky to use with the projects and tasks. I would love a drop down for me to be able to select tasks again and then measure based on task. The user experience is poor with this regard, instead requiring you to either find where you performed the task before or guess by entering the task again. Not ideal. Finally, the perf is bad and sometimes things don’t load at all. A little bit of work could probably go a long way on this app..Version: 2.21.2

Wow, why ruin it?I’m just leaving the old review below for reference (I could have phrased things better). But the UI still hasn’t improved 2 years later. It’s not the nicest experience. And it’s especially bad on iPad. What’s worse is that syncing takes too long or fails regularly. It’s much faster to use the website via Safari. The Today extension often shows incorrect information. Additionally, I was trying to write a longer detailed response in the app via “Submit feedback” but the app crashed and lost the text I wrote. Please improve the apps, otherwise I’m starting to look for alternatives and I’ve been using Toggl for like 6 years. —— Sorry, to say but your UX team has no idea what they are doing. I recommend reading Apple’s HIG. You had decent foundation. Previous version wasn’t perfect, but with a few tweaks you could have had awesome UX. The new UI is confusing and frustrating..Version: 2.13

CrashingApp crashes on opening on the latest update..Version: 4.6.0

So slow to syncI’ve used Toggl for quite a long time now. The website is fine, it’s easy, it’s fast. The app however is awful. The functionality on it is limited. As a manager you don’t get any of the reports. What’s worse though is it takes so long to sync and generally fails. Nothing is done in the background so if you start a timer on the app, stop it on pc then the next day when you open the app the timer will still be running. Everything you do just becomes awkward trying to resolve the little sync fail icon..Version: 2.0.1

Glitchy and UnintuitiveI hate the Toggl app. I use it as a pomodoro timer and to trackwork for clients. The pomodoro timer is supposed to stop after 25 minutes and then reset the clock to 5 minutes. However, the timer always stops at 0. I have to make sure to watch the timer continually so I don’t work past the 25 minutes (as I won’t be notified). Another major issue results when trying to track time on client work with the Chrome app. On the Chrome app next to the start timer button there is a field for a comment but not for a project or client. Why in the world would you be able to put a comment for the timer that has nothing to do with a client or project? You have to start the timer, enter a pointless/optional comment, and then click the live timer to select a project or client. Why the extra step?? Why would a pointless comment outrank classifying the timer by project or client? Totally idiotic..Version: 4.0.2

HmmmI’m not sure why the app has five stars. It’s pretty average. It is not visual enough for me. I find the UI to be a bit confusing and clunky. It’s difficult to pick a start date and end date along with time of day without the menu aggravating me somehow. It’s also impossible??? To see last year’s work days! I didn’t invoice some work from late 2022 yet and I can’t seem to find it. It’s not a very intuitive app. I feel like I’m always bending over and searching for fallen pieces on a messy barn floor when I use this app. I’m officially deleting it after having used it for a few years and going back to writing in a book.Version: 4.8.1

App SyncingI use Toggl nearly everyday for work, it’s definitely one of the best ways to significantly increase productivity with minimal effort. I typically start and end entries from my laptop. However, when I use the mobile app it doesn’t sync. This problem isn’t a huge inconvenience but it’s a problem that has led me to uninstall the app due to it’s futility. I’ll happily reinstall the app when this syncing problem is fixed. I recommend solely using the desktop version for others users in a similar boat..Version: 3.9.3

Honestly it’s pretty difficult to understandI’m not dumb by any means, and I could probably take the time to really understand it if I cared that much. It shouldn’t be this complicated. I use it because i do different freelance projects and need to time myself to get paid. Sometimes I accidentally start the time when i’m just trying to check the project, sometimes I forget to stop it because there’s no indication that it’s still running when you go off the app(which i think that would be a helpful feature, I wanted to edit my end time because I forgot to turn it off and I can’t figure out how to do that, etc etc. I feel like I need an extensive manual for something that should be so cut and dry easy. I don’t understand why there is projects and tags? It’s too much to understand. I try to use it the best I can but I try not to touch any of the features too much so I don’t mess anything up. I like that it groups my project up and adds the time together and shows me the calendar of tracked time but it’s a finicky app for sure and needs to be simplified..Version: 2.9

Not waiving all rights to my soul!App looks promising, but I’m not waiving my right to stop using the app. Terms are a bit OTT!!.Version: 2.2.1

Not liking the new lookGreat app, but I’m sorry the new look makes the feel of it seem bubblegum-ish if not juvenile. Sorry I won’t be updating my version until a new colour scheme has been chosen..Version: 2.19

Free user/student reviewAfter trial ends your task will be non accessible because Toggl doesn’t even allow one full project access feature. So create tasks as projects and use workspace as your project so you could get/understand timer details properly. All in all good app but not free user friendly as TimeCamp allows 3 projects full free access but with inferior user friendly UI. I make it work out with my study as explained above, so 3stars for Toggl..Version: 4.7.0

Beware! The terms and conditions for this app are positively toxic. AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!.Version: 4.8.1

Full of glitchesI couldn’t synchronise the app in my iPhone 13 with my app in MacBook Pro (macOSVentura) or the website app, they just counted the time independently! As the two apps would not keep their synchronisation, I signed out of my app in IPhone and when I logged back in I realised that I had lost all the entries that I had been adding in the last couple of days. However, as I logged in again and the iPhone app synchronised with the older data in the Macbook app, the counters in the website or the desktop app kept running independently, so, if I switched off one of them, the other would keep going, even if I refreshed the website. It also happened that in my iPhone app I could not get any report anymore, it said that my data were empty, although the calendar and the time tracker did have entries. I also had problems with the calendar: every little touch on the screen dragged the activities around and changed the starting/ending times, and there seems to be no possibility to “undo” the action. I am very disappointed with this app and I started to use Clockify, which is incredibly similar, has a better design style, no synchronising problems between devices and none of the other problems I experienced with Toggl..Version: 4.8.1

So laggy it is impossible to useThe new update has made this app so laggy it’s nearly impossible to use —especially in the calendar view. This is such a shame as we love the toggl service. There are micro-lags even in simple things such as picking the project for a new timer, but other things, such manipulating past timers on the calendar view using the dots/grips, are so laggy that they are now the definition of frustration. Right now. I would take a downgrade to the previous app in a heartbeat if it was possible..Version: 3.1

Beware, latest version is very brokenCan’t set times manually any more properly. Some UI glitch. Huge step backwards. Don’t upgrade!.Version: 5.0.3

I keep getting kicked out of my own workspaceThis app is now getting really buggy on iPad. I logged in today to find out that somehow I was kicked out of my own workspace somehow, even though I’m the only one who is in this workspace. I wouldn’t recommend this app for tracking time after the recent apps. Lots of bugs.Version: 5.4.1

Poor attemptVery disappointed with this app which promised great things. Clunky processes for creating entries. No feature for creating reoccurring entries. So you have to redo the whole week every single week. What a waste of time. No indication of whether this is a paid feature or not, but I doubt this is the case. Oh well, I’m sure improvements will be made over time, but for now this is really unusable for me..Version: 5.5.2

Two Steps BackToggl is great. Been using it for ages. But the latest app upgrade is 2 steps back. What used to be a quick time entry process is now complex and buggy. I start the timer but when I want to add a project it doesn’t pull up my entries now - it’s just free text. After I save the entry and re-edit it pulls up the project list. Same is true for tags. Can we have these features back please?.Version: 4.8.0

Thought this was great, was mistaken.I meticulously tracked most of my time on my first day with this, and thought I was in love. Big Problems defeat the purpose. On my my summary page there is a % for a project with no name, but that entry is not listed anywhere so I can add a project name to it after checking the tags - it has just disappeared, but it is still showing up in my summary and there’s no way to edit it. It lets you archive project names, but not see them or un-archive them or even know if there is still time attached to them to attribute with a different name before archiving. And the very reason I am writing this review, rendering this app (heartbreakingly) useless to me: on the calendar page in the app, it’s impossible to scroll without accidentally changing the time on previously recorded time and there’s no undo option, so there’s no way to fix it unless you’ve previously memorized all of your increments. And if you can do that, you probably don’t need this app. Without reliable numbers, it’s just a waste of time. So, so disappointing..Version: 3.10.1

Worse than the previous appThere's no manual time entry on the app, and I can't change AM to PM or vice versa, and even if I entered a 24hour time format, it's not working. This is a step backwards from the previous version, where I can easily change the AM/PM. I still have to use the browser to do this, so what's the point of the app?.Version: 8.9.0

Can’t edit muchIt’s an okay time tracking app. There are better ones out there that I use, but I wanted to use a separate one for a different project/part of life. It does basic time tracking and reporting. The reports are visual which is nice. The billable feature can’t easily be removed/turned off/hidden (this would be useful since I’m using it for “life” not work). My main gripe is that you can’t easily or quickly edit projects, tags, etc (in the iOS app). It either doesn’t work at all (tags?) or is cumbersome (projects: only by adding a new entry and then adding project from there). The interface is nice. But overall not too impressed, it’s too basic and biased. They need to add better features and options for the app..Version: 5.4.1

Great, except for watch appToggl track is great and both the iPhone and Mac versions work well. However the Apple Watch app has frequent issues—crashes, logs out, keeps timers running after stopping, etc—that make it basically unusable. This is a real problem because I want to be able to leave my phone and laptop at home and use the watch to track my time but I essentially have to do that manually now and enter the time into Toggl later. Would be five stars if watch app worked better..Version: 5.0.1

Deleted it IMMEDIATELYOpened the app, I had to create an account which makes me wonder....”why is the company that wrote the app trying to track my work schedule”? This is a big invasion of privacy hence I deleted it INSTANTLY.Version: 1.14.2

A huge step backwardsThe design is less simple and useable than the last version. In addition to the design, this first release is still buggy and sometimes freezes. I know the big will get sorted out, but the design is terrible..Version: 1.0
