✓ Nice ROMpler, but frustrating in DAWsNice clean sounds and effects, nice user interface - all of that. But it’s frustrating trying to use it in a DAW; when relaunching a project that uses FM Player 2 as an Audio Unit, either the wrong preset gets loaded or the preset doesn’t load at all. If you’re lucky, you can manually load the correct preset, but that gets time consuming when you have more than one instance. Now I’m looking at FM Synth emulations as a work-around - it’s just a shame I have to spend more money because of this one not working properly. ✓ Great interface and sounds, but constant crashingI think this app is probably incredible…if you’re running a much stronger iPad than what I’m using. I’m on an iPad Air 2, and I can’t get the app to stay open for longer than a moment once I start using my MIDI controller with it. It just crashes. Shame, because it’s a great interface with lots of power to shape sounds, with tons of presets of the classic DX series. Truly want to give it 5 stars but I don’t think it’s going to work with my iPad. :(.OwenloveslifeVersion: 2.4.1

✓ Lovely sounds and great functionality but AUv3 not very stable in AUMLovely sounds and great functionality and I would love to be able to use it live ... ... BUT it is not stable in AUM. I get frequent CPU spikes around 100% which cause dropouts. The easiest way to reproduce this is to create an empty AUM set and add FM Player. The open the AUM keyboard, and run your finger quickly up and down the keyboard several times. If there is no CPU spike, try another preset. I’ve tried it with the new Sounds of Izrael and Spidericemidas banks and the CPU spikes happen often with this technique. My usual CPU usage in AUM is between 40 and 60% with several synths & FX, but when playing notes in FM Player, CPU often jumps around from about 40 down to about 18 or up to about 90ish regularly, sometimes spiking over 100 with dropouts as described above. I’m appreciate there is a lot of hard work in this project, but I hope this can be fixed as I look forward to using it in a stable live setup but I can’t have dropouts during a live set..CraftycurateVersion: 2.2

✓ Fix garageband functionality bugsPlease fix the ipad garageband bugs on this app and the D1 app by you guys, everytime you exit out of a track using these vsts and come back in to it, the vst doesnt load your sounds instantly how it should, and it also always resets your preset which makes these apps unusable until they are fixed. This also happens when you try to convert a track into a fil of any sort ( WAV, AIFF ) I love these apps so much i need to be able to use them i hope someone sees this and fixes these problems. ✓ FrustratingThis crashes my BeatMaker 3 and GarageBand constantly. Or the audio just stops working. The sounds on this product are amazing but two of your programs have given me the exact same issue. Sometimes it causes my files to become corrupt so I lose entire tracks. ✓ Looks like abandon wareThere was high hopes for this app but it seems like the core program has been dumped. Considering the free synth one app gives you the ability to at least save anything you play to an MP3 file, I am left wondering why the developer hasn’t implemented this here?? ✓ Not triggering MIDI right away in GarageBand - pls load sound patch earlier?Please see my D1 review, this has the same issue I think. In short, if I wanted to solely use FMPlayer and D1, I’d have to do around 1500 (fifteen hundred) double-tap actions for a full 32-track GarageBand song on my M1 iPad Pro, PER HOUR, that I wouldn’t have to, with any other instrument or synth I can think of. The D1 and this FMPlayer/DX7 are superb instruments musically, this is strictly an Audio Unit issue, a technical issue, they need to load up the last-used patch, as soon as GB song editor starts up and loads the Audio Units. Not wait until the user actually double-taps to play/load the patch manually. It’s been 2 years since I first notified of this issue, is all. ✓ A huge ‘but’…Beautiful sounds but when closing GarageBand and reopening it they don’t work. No sound. Not tried in LogicPro for iPad yet, but my most recent project, in which I used this synth a lot in GarageBand , is now rendered useless. A lot of time wasted. ✓ I'd give it 5 stars, but...Still using a lot of older Yamaha and Roland gear and still use my DX7 and DX7IId in my music setup. I'd like to give this a full 5 stars review, but I am having issues with this app as approx. 1/3 of the sounds are very noisy and heavily distorted beyond a recognisable sound and some do not play, at all. Most of the DX7II layered sounds are the ones that seem problematic. I am using a 2015 iPad Pro running iOS 10.3.3. The sounds that play, though, sound fantastic! It is really like having my DX7 with me in a iPad! But there are too many sound patches that are really noisy and heavily distorted and lack that clean DX7 sound clarity. Is my copy of the app the issue here? As it seems this app is getting great reviews and has many users using it. Is there an issue with the latest update? ✓ Really miss the short-lived, but excellent Distortion knobThis is a lovely app, which has the added bonus of being free; however! I really miss the very short-lived, but excellent Distortion knob. Why introduce it, only to completely remove it days later? If anyone doesn’t like the sound it makes, just don’t use it, no need to deny it to those of us who loved it! In addition, I don’t really care for the overdrive knob that replaced it today! PLEASE bring back the distortion knob. I loved the way it transformed the basic sounds, giving rise to some amazingly usable sounds. By all means the Overdrive knob if you have space for both. This is the first time I have been moved to write an app review, such is the strength of my feeling on the loss of this excellent Distortion control. ✓ Will not work with Cubasis3.I have had this app for a while on iPad 8 iOS 14, the presets are far more superior sounding than many other expensive apps that I’ve bought, but every time I press the play button on Cubasis3 on (AU) it stops responding, I have to reboot FM Player 2 inside Cubasis, it then plays a few notes before it stops responding again, and again, and again! ✓ Better than a DX but not as reliableLove this synth. The sounds are exactly what I wanted. The main issue is that there is not a instance of the app that it doesn’t crash on me. ✓ Great Sound but AUv3 Implementation Is BuggyI have purchased and/or downloaded every single AudioKit synth and in general am very pleased with them. The sounds in this synth are killer. However I have to give it 3 stars because I’m experiencing a serious bug — when using the app as an AUv3 plugin with Cubasis the synth is skipping playback of notes. I’ve been in communication with the Cubasis folks and they’ve confirmed that switching to another synth fixes the problem and they have identified that the problem is with this synth. So would love for one of the devs to contact me. I have a stripped down sample project in Cubasis that illustrates the problem (same one I sent to the Cubasis team) that I can share that will hopefully make it easier to track down and fix the problem..UpinteractiveVersion: 2.5

✓ I like it a lot, except for the staticI like the great variety of sounds and tweakability of this app, and Audiokit Synth One, but I get static on both of them, little clicky sounds. Maybe it is because I am using it on a 4th generation iPad. I don't know. I don't have this problem with other music keyboard apps. Do I need a newer iPad to use these apps without the static? Since I wrote this review I got an iPad Pro, which has a 64 bit processor. The static is gone and the app sounds great, but you have not changed the description in the App Store to indicate that you need a 64 bit iPad to get a really clean sound from it. ✓ NOT MEANT FOR USE AS AUV3In short: GET THE NEW KING OF FM from AudioKit, not this. —— This, right here, is the most important thing you need to know about this application. If you’ve got a lot of AUV3’s and you enjoy the flexibility that provides, you won’t want this, no matter how cheap it is. Notice how the 5 star reviews are years old. Currently, if you create a tune in GarageBand with this instrument, when you “Share”, THIS INSTRUMENT WILL NOT PLAY! It hasn’t worked in awhile, was hoping this latest release would fix it, and it doesn’t. Without being able to “Share” the resulting song from GarageBand, this instrument is useless. The best part about this update is that they at least finally tell you that the AUv3 problem you’re having with the app is NOT going to be fixed, it’s primarily meant for standalone use.
