TZ iBoat – Marine Navigation for Positive User Reviews

Only nav app I have and it works great.Sailing on southern Chesapeake Bay it gets me where I want to go and keeps me out of trouble. Have mounted iPad to pedestal. Little hard to see in bright sun but that’s not apps fault. It and GPS are great. Hope 5G isn’t an issue..Version: 2.1.2

Just love it!Now I can simply plan a trip and add marks from the comfort of my lounge knowing that when I power up my TZT Touch2 my updates will be there waiting for me..Version: 2.0.1

Loved using this appOne of the best app very easy to use very happy with this.Version: 3.0.6

Hot coloursThe only thing I think this app needs is the hot colours key for contour's. This is a great app to use when you are at home but you have to use your other system to check the contour’s on the fishing chart..Version: 2.3.6

Works great!Use it for both my sports fishing boat and on my commercial fishing boat. Has worked from Prince William Sound to Unimak island Alaska. Matches my boat gps with soundings. I use it on iPhone and iPad..Version: 2.3.6

PNW chartsThe San Juan Islands (major cruising ground for US boaters) had no detailed charts. They were just blanked out as if they belonged to Canada. Updated version has the full San Juan islands. I do question, however, why the Canadian Gulf Islands are not included as they are contiguous with the San Juans. The full TZ charts for Canada West include the Puget Sound; It would be nice to reciprocate, especially as we have to purchase the full chart package for Canada while only needing a tiny fraction..Version: 3.0.4

#1 Navigation System & ChartingI have used every app for Marine Navigation, however, I have never had as many tools in one application as provided with TZ iBoat. I also now have it tied in with their MyTimeZero cloud ecosystem along with my Furuno chartplotter/radar and TimeZero software, where everything is simultaneously synchronized over the air without having to do anything. Just an amazing app now with the TZ Maps, I do not need to use anything eise..Version: 3.0.6

Just what a Mariner needsAs a master mariner and ship’s captain this is such a great app to have I use it lots.Version: 2.4.0

An upgrade done rightThis is now nearly a full chart plotter. In addition to the previous features, including ability to display AIS and data such as depth, SOG, etc., it now displays wind data (Apparent, True, etc). In addition, the transition from the old app MaxSea TZ TimeZero was done correctly for us pre-existing customers who had “purchased” maps. Those carried over! Excellent show of respect towards customers and very confidence-inspiring with regard to future "subscriptions". TimeZero for iPad remains the gold standard in raster (paper chart-like) charting, with only official charts from the best official government hydro-graphic institutions (UKHO, Canada CHS, U.S. NOAA, France SHOM, Italy IIMI, Spain IHM, etc., etc.) The branding is weak and a very poor marketing choice (“iBoat”), because it makes it sound as if this is some sort of toy. It is not. This is a very serious navigation program we use every day out in the water..Version: 1.0.10

ConvivialJ.Version: 3.0.4

TZ iBoat supportReally like TZ iBoat, the ability to plan a route on iPad email it to my friend and get it to load to my chart plotter is good. But the best thing about TZ iBoat is the support; queries answered in minutes and follow up to check all is well.Version: 2.2.1

I have used a LOT of apps over the years...And TZ Iboats is really first rate! So feature rich, so intuitive! I have a great Raymarine chart plotter which is still my primary navigation system, but TZ iBoat is one of only a few applications I have running on my iPad should the chartplotter fail at an inopportune time. I love the C-Maps Charts on it...wish it had a Navionics option too, like the laptop version does! I likely underutilize the application..it just has so much to it!.Version: 1.0.13

Over the Top - FantasticThe latest release is over the top - so well thought out and usable on both iPad and iPhone. The weather is on par with the solution delivered in TimeZero Pro and the routes and marks synchronize instantly over the WAN or LAN - perfect when off grid. I appreciate that TZ iBoat can source Navigation inputs from our boat’s instruments including AIS. The perfect backup for our primary navigation system. Fantastic!.Version: 2.0.1

Works greatI recently set up an onboard WiFi network to feed gps and ais to my iPad running the TZboat app. Even though I’m not yet familiar with all its features, the app has been easy to use and works great. Goodbye dedicated chartplotter.Version: 1.0.13

TZ software for iPad.I just loaded the software into my iPad and purchased charts. The first thing that I noticed was all the courses that I have set up in my TC software from my pc are loaded into the iPad software. I think this is great stuff! TZ software is the reason I’m looking into for Reno hardware. Thank you!.Version: 2.2.1

This one is a keeperI’ve tried, i think, every marine navigation app available on ipad. of them all, only 2 remain on my pad. well worth having..Version: 2.3.3

Great App loaded with featuresI have been using the TZ iBoat app for a few months now and can’t say enough good things about it. It’s simple, easy to use UI along with its extensive feature set make this one of the few navigation apps truly worth having. It’s seamless integration with my Furuno TZT2 system just makes an already great app even better. I love being able to build routes for upcoming trips at home and have those routes show up on my TZT2 network. I just upgraded to version 2.0 this morning and am already loving the addition of weather features. Keep up the great work..Version: 2.0.1

Powerful and easy to use!Out of the proverbial box this app is easy to learn and use. The off line function for accessing weather files is a great feature..Version: 2.0.2

TZ teamI really like this this app. But here is to many pros and cons. I do understand people have to money..Version: 2.4.0

Great Nav AppThis is a very useful tool when you have a good GPS signal . Takes a while to get used to route planning and not always intuitive. But works well when you have poor on board systems, as a stand alone set up . PaddymacQ.Version: 2.3.7

Excellent AppI use TZ on an iPad & find it’s better than the chart-plotter on my boat. I previously thought about upgrading the boat’s chart-plotter but matching the 11” iPad & quality of TZ’s charts/rendering would have been a few thousand dollars. & prefer having redundant systems just in case..Version: 2.3.6

All I need !!I am using TZ iBoat for 2 years now on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. It’s outstanding software and has everything I need. I bought the radar module and connected my Furuno WiFi radar to the iPad. The chart overlay is amazing accurate. I love the side panel and that gives me a quick overview of the values I choose ( tide, speed, course, etc) By now I have marked quite a few fishing hotspots, anchor spots, danger markers etc. The coolest thing would be if I could also somehow connect to my Raymarine Autopilot. Otherwise completely satisfied customer! Ship Ahoj Capt. Pete.Version: 2.3.6

Good ServiceThe charting product is excellent. But the even better thing is that if you do have a problem you can easily get competent help..Version: 2.3.6

ParringStill not able to get my routes to transfer to my furuno tz3. It worked prior. I am able to get my routes from my I pad to the tz app. Thank you..Version: 3.0.6

Best navigation appThis is the best navigation app I have used so far . It is easy, fast, accurate and with all the details you need . You have everything with one app. Definitely recommand it..Version: 2.0.1

GoodVery good shows lots of details 🙂.Version: 2.3.7

Great Charts! The TZ e-charts make it easy to look at “the big picture” when we travel. I find it easier to do this on my iPad vs my chart plotter. It is also a great backup to have two separate navigation devices onboard..Version: 3.0.4

Customer Support was great in addressing my concerns over Version 2 upgradesVersion 1 comments: I started using TZ about a year and a half ago. Before then I was a navx fan. TZ is so much easier to use and responds so much faster. The ease of creating and following routes is the best. Useful additions would be in the area of route and waypoint management. Another issue is when AIS targets are near the route line, the user must zoom to the max to separate the target from the route information window which comes up when the cursor is over it. Other than those small items, this is a great navigation app. Version 2 comments: I had difficulty using version 2 with the new track and trail functionality and with activating my route in between waypoints rather than at the start. I also noticed that the scale (or zooming) slider was gone. I contacted Customer Support and they responded within hours with explanations, tips, and rationale for some of the changes. Customer Support is fantastic with this app. I will continue to familiarize myself with the new version and work with Customer Support as I go forward. I am a navigation instructor and have evaluated almost all of the navigation apps for iPads that recreational boaters and some small commercial operators use, so it’s not like I am a newbie to navigation software and digital chartplotting..Version: 2.0.2

Time zeroGreat app, I have changed all my chartplotting and radar to my iPad with this program. It has worked out great and is portable to work out routes down below. The seamless charts are excellent..Version: 1.0.15

Amazing UpdateThe new TZ Maps are pretty phenomenal. Better detail, better accuracy, and more current than Navionics at the moment. The additional functionality around anchorages, etc… is also awesome. The fact that my boundaries, marks, routes, sync automatically across my TZ Pro computer, my Furuno TZT3 makes this the best navigation app for the iPad right now..Version: 3.0.0

This has been a great AppFor the first time using my iPad on a 70 mile trip from New Hampshire up the coast of Maine, this along with paper charts found our way home. Easy to use and accurate. Now several years later this app is still my favorite to use on trips with my sailboat. I have finally reduced Nav apps to one..Version: 3.0.4

Integration TZ2Loading gpx files for search and rescue into TZ2 is a breeze. Makes for accurate coverage without the need to enter points whilst underway..Version: 2.3.7

TZ iBoatBest and easiest navigation app to use..Version: 2.3.6

Great Navigation and Planning AppBeautiful App that is smooth and easy to use. Synchs Waypoints and Routes etc seamlessly with TZT2 directly or via Cloud. Weather overlay looks amazing!.Version: 2.0.2

Great Chart SystemI use TZ on my boat and love it. I have it loaded on my I Pad and phone as well. It allows me to access my charts both on and off the boat. I also over lay radar and AIS..Version: 2.3.6

TimeZero iBoat is tremendousThis navigation app works across the Apple device spectrum and integrates many features you want if you are planning to use a tablet/iPad as a chartplotter - easy wireless AIS integration, vector and raster charts, and even wireless radar overlay (specific Furuno instrument). TZ keeps adding useful functions like anchor watch, weather app integration and route tracking so it’s clear they are paying attention to their customers’ wish lists. A bargain compared to the competition that keeps getting better!.Version: 2.3.6

Great AppThe free version is adequate, but updating maps is probably money well spent for almost anyone, and it’s cheap. I downloaded to test it prior to buying a Furono wireless radar dome that works with this app. Still haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but it does look promising. They do need to offer an “all inclusive” deal though. Having too many subscriptions is going to be a problem..Version: 2.2.1

Excellent for planning and navigationExcellent tool for planning trips before going and while under way as a way of seeing the bigger picture as an augment to the chart plotter. I only wish it had the ability to show tides and current at a set time rather than current time..Version: 2.1.2

Best out thereVery responsive developers, excellent ‘all in one’ program..Version: 2.3.5

ReviewGreat program!!Very accurate!!Very easy to use!!.Version: 2.3.6

Great toolI am a commercial fisherman on the British Columbia coast plus have used App on our sailboat in Belize and Central America and found it to be extremely accurate in all areas every bit as accurate as my $$ onboard system VERY good value.Version: 2.3.6

A must have app for all boatersTZiBoat just keeps getting better and better. Version 3 is the best version to date. This App is an essential tool for any avid boater and a MUST have for any licensed Captain. Thank you TZ iBoat!.Version: 3.0.2

CurrentWhere to find current flows or chlorophyll patterns.Version: 2.4.0

Really goodTZ is my main navigation app. Quite easy to use, but really customizable to your needs. The only reason why I still use other apps and why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is no kind of “user community” feature that other apps have that allow users to put marker to indicate good anchoring spot with review, or danger, rating of marinas, tips about some areas etc..Version: 2.3.7

CrackerjackVery good working app.Version: 2.3.6

Pretty good programIt’s pretty useful, but the inability to use it on my Mac or Windows Pc is a pain. It’s too small on an IPhone, but pretty good on IPad..Version: 2.2.1

The best marine navigation appThis is far better than the very disappointing B&G app and just betters iNavX on usability - especially creating and editing routes. It’s also streets ahead of Navionics. It’s a fully featured app an it’s definitely worth reading the user manual. I was up and running in about an hour. Highly recommended!.Version: 2.3.6

Some truly great features; lacking other featuresGreat Features Radar overlay weather overlays Boundaries Nmea 0183 over wifi Both Vector and raster charts Very responsive support team working very hard I might add. Still Lacking No quick MOB/event marker dedicated button No route or marker manager No auto routing feature I have a good feeling most of the bad things will be addressed soon enough in future updates..Version: 2.1.1

Best appBeen watching the east coast currents and the way the low hugs the hot water along the coast Amazing 😃😃😃.Version: 2.3.6

Great ApplicationWorking very well, price similar to Navionics to different parts of the world. Easy to use compatible with predictwind which is great. Working on iphone and tablets, wish was available on charters plotters as the alternative to navionics or c-map. I would switch to, this is the only limitation, for older charter plotter owners..Version: 2.3.6

Fantastic!!!Absolutely amazing app! I’ve always wanted to find out how fast the current is where I live and this shows it. And it’s very accurate. Thank you for making my fishing trips easier to plan out!.Version: 2.3.7

Works GreatI like to use this on my IPad it’s a solid back up On the boat and great for planning adventures On shore.Version: 2.3.6

Probably the best navigation app. But...I really like the features of the new version of this app (apart from slow boot up) But it’s simply not competitive when it comes to purchasing charts at more than 10 times the cost of the competition! Another legacy software company that may get left behind… Edit. Now with TZ Maps. Solving my biggest concern. So I’ve taken another look and as a commercial skipper and also a live-aboard cruiser. I’ve used all the top 4 brands MFD. And a lot of PC/IPad navigation software. And Time Zero has always been best practice in my opinion. And TZ iBoat is the best option at the moment for an all in one iPad navigation app. And I look forward to see what new features are to come from the long time marine navigation specialists..Version: 3.0.4

Great appAre use the app for planning my offshore fishing trips. I find it very detailed in the weather information and wave information. It’s super convenient to plan waypoints on my mobile device and have them sync directly to my boat. Love it!.Version: 2.3.6

Ancient Mariner. (91) yrs youngI have now retired from sea life but still look up past trips that interested me in the past.Version: 2.3.6

Love this product!Edit: So impressed, around 6 weeks later the chart has been updated with the depth we experienced. After trialling 2 apps over Christmas, contacting both for support well TZ iBoat wins hands down (the other well know app just shook this issue off with no assistance to fix). Will continue to use this app both very affordable and extremely easy to use lots of amazing features and very easy to deal with, thank you Simon from TZ. ………… Communication is great if there’s an issue with depth. However not sure how long it takes for charts to be updated. Watch this space!.Version: 3.0.8

TZiBoat does everything I needAs a keen Sailor, I feel that iBoat provides me with all the navigation and weather/routing functions that I need. I have used the app for several years now and couldn’t imagine being without it. I particularly like the easy configuration and the wireless AIS overlay. The features such as the weather overlay are very welcome and accurate. I have compared them to other weather tools and iBoat weather overlay is very accurate at local level. Keep up the good development!.Version: 2.3.6

Works Every TimeIntegrated to my radar for overlays and it works perfect every time. Simple to understand and all the features I need. ~Jeff.Version: 2.3.6

Great Navigation appI’ve been using Time Zero for about 4 years, and recently got an iPad to take my nav with me. I can’t believe I didn’t get TZ-iBoat sooner, it’s so easy to use and the value is unbeatable. Thanks for an amazing product!.Version: 2.4.0

NickExcellent app.Version: 2.3.6

Captain James bigfishI have used a few other apps I thought they were great. I was wrong till I used the TZ I think is the best thing ever happened for fishing industry.Version: 2.3.8

ReviewGet app for fishing, spot on the mark ever time🤙🎣.Version: 2.2.1

Excellent productI had a very old laptop that didn’t function as a backup to my main, newer GPS. I replaced it with TZ iBoat and have been thrilled with the product. I still need to play with it more but, it seems to do do everything I need and more..Version: 2.3.6

Best in many areasAs an avid nav app user who has tried everything for our sailing and fishing boats, TZ iOS is very good. Best anchor alarm, best raster maps. Wish the PC App was in OS for Mac for routing and weather. I still use B&G for sailing features and Garmin for ActiveCaptain, as well as Predict Wind for routing and forecasts, so it is not a total replacement yet. The UX of the vector charts is a little lacking compared to the competition but I tend to use this as my raster backup/compare option to enriched vector C Maps..Version: 2.3.6

All my planning in this appOn board I have the TZiBoat app. Typically it has all my accurate routes; the ones I have adjusted to be just right. I also see these routes on the desktop at home when logged into the web app. All the existing routes update across my devices and I can create new ones on the desktop as well. The desktop displays with the TZ chart - so so good!! At present I export the routes to a card to put into my Raymarine plotter, but in my wish list I’m planning to migrate to their plotter (professional) Timezero application which I believe allows you to join routes..Version: 3.0.8

Excellent user interfaceLogical, intuitive, and the color scheme used on screen supports delimitation “soundings” based off most current publishings of marine charts publishers and aids to navigation (ATONS)..Version: 3.0.0

Like the choice of raster and vector chartsI go back and forth between this and AquaMap. They both have features I like, neither have them all. But this app has the more indispensable features like integration with my Furuno radar. Looking forward to seeing the latest update..Version: 3.0.4

Incredibly Comprehensive and PowerfulTZ Makes it possible to manage data that was only possible to monitor across several apps all in one clean and organized interface. Let’s support companies who actively optimize and develop their products over time..Version: 2.3.6

TZ iBoat NavThis is by far my preferred nav on my 30 ft cruiser in Nova Scotia. I highly recommend it especially for less experienced boaters. It is simple but works extremely well..Version: 2.3.6

ExcellentI tried several other navigation apps but none gave you all the options TZ does. The radar overlay works perfectly..Version: 2.3.6

Great appI recently helped sail a boat from New York to Florida and downloaded this app for myself to use while aboard. Turned out that the chart plotter on-board failed and was unreliable and I took over navigation using iBoat. Really happy with being able to download both raster and vector charts as I found both had their advantages. Having tides, wind, weather and current date available both on and off line proved invaluable. Thank you for great app and will continue to use it, possibly as my main chart plotter on my own boat..Version: 2.1.0

UpgradesSystem works great. Auto routing like most of your competitors have would be a great addition! Also I still would like to be able to mirror my camera that is facing back. I would like it to be like a rear view mirror. At the present time the right side of the monitor shows the port side and the left show starboard. It would be less confusing. Otherwise very happy..Version: 2.3.6

Ease of useTZ iBoat is one of the easiest and most complete aids to navigation on the market. The seamless charting works flawlessly, the detailed tides and currents right on the chart make it easy for anyone looking on. There is no time needed for flipping between programs which enables you to keep your eyes out on the water and not always buried in the screen. The distance and bearing feature is so easy ito use that identifying navigation aids and points of land with a hand bearing compass is fast and accurate. iBoat is clearly a fantastic navigation aid that when used with other aids such as hand bearing compasses, depth sounders, binoculars, etc, will help to make your trip as safe as possible. This aid to navigation does so much more including being able to add and remove features from your screen easily in order to keep your screen uncluttered works extremely well. I would rate this Nobeltec product higher than anything else seen on the market today. Look it up and I challenge you to find a more complete easy to use program. Captain Thomson..Version: 1.1.5

BestI have been commercial fishing for 60 years and this is the best marine chart app I have ever used. Most of my fisherman friends have this and another marine app but we all agree this is the best.Version: 2.3.4

User friendly“I really Love TZ iboat due to its user friendly route construction plus the fact that tides and currents are presented so well. I have found that the export route function is a bit difficult.”.Version: 2.4.0

Ideal for my 2nd boatI’ve been a owner of Nobeltec from day one and love the iPad version of TZ for my sail boat that I don’t use that often. It is great that it works so well and doesn’t have a new learning curve to use. Keep up the good work. I reconnected TZ to others and they are very happy with their decision to go with TZ. Mike Henry Commodore SAn Juan Island Yacht Club.Version: 2.3.6

Pier pressureSeems to work good once you download the charts etc. We use it with our Simard plotter as a long distance navigation tool while the Simard is short..Version: 2.3.6

Mike - sailor and subs diver..I use B&G chart plotter on my sailboat and I use TZ for planning and to navigate offshore. It’s has been easy to make plans to navigate and download data (i.e. routes and etc. using TZ and B&G’s web site and auto synchronization. And TZ has a great staff if you need support…..Version: 2.4.0

Intuitive to use and fully functionalWe use TZ pro on our boats. It’s brilliant to have all our waypoints, sailing and harbour notes synced across all our machines - and also now on my phone too. We trialled a lot of nav software before going with TZ. As a sailing school it’s really important that the nav software is intuitive to use while also offering a lot of functionality. TZ achieve this balance more elegantly than anything else we’ve seen - both in their PC apps and now on their mobile device apps as well..Version: 3.0.6

From TZ NOBELTEC TO TZ IBOATI started using TZ Nobeltec on my IPad approximately seven years ago along with other navigation apps ,Navionics,C-Map etc.At first I only used it occasionally as I was able to connect it to my Furuno Radar which allowed me to overlay the radar on the chart, but I tended to use the other navigation apps as I found them easier and clearer to use.As time went on TZ continued to improve bringing out their AIS module which worked instantly, far better than any other AIS module on any of the other apps. For me it worked better because it showed any target CONTINUOUSLY moving in real time, plus speed ,course, ssi number and name and if you zoomed in you could also see the size of the ship. The Latest version of TZ IBOAT has now become my MAIN NAVIGATION APP on my iPad and phone ,all though I still continue to keep C-map as a backup just for its charts but this app has very poor AIS ,only works if you have an internet connection. No Radar module. I have dropped Navionics,as has become outdated. The only problem I have with TZ Is that I am unable to run AIS and RADAR at the same time !! and also the Radar will only work when the boat is moving. Saying that this is probably the best all round navigation app on the market, and I look forward to to trying out the weather module.Their backup is very good. Robert Reynolds Ayesha of Saint Mawes UK.Version: 2.3.5

A must haveA very powerful and easy to use complete navigation software for your iPhone or iPad. Use as a back up or for primary navigation tool. I highly recommend this for any serious boater..Version: 2.3.6

Best Nav App Out ThereThis app has the most extensive features, is stable and is very intuitive. Hats off to the development team who put this together. I have used nearly every nav app out there and this one is as good as it gets..Version: 2.3.1

Dynamic current dataSuperb app but one failing is that it does not show speed on the current arrow as is the case in Navionics, (only show current direction) so I need to keep reverting back to Navionics when checking for future current changes. As an aside this app saved me a fortune in SHOM charts whilst cruising along the Brittany coast..Version: 3.0.5

PricelessI can’t say enough good things about this app. Either as a stand-alone tool, or in conjunction with our TZT19F, it function’s flawlessly. I love the cloud integration to keep them all synced and the amount of info they cleanly display. I came from Garmin, so it took a bit of playing around to learn the UI, but once I did I think it’s 1000x a better system. If I could give one critique, it would be on the web browser side, I’d rather edit routes and makes on the iPad or my MFD then the computer..Version: 2.3.6

All my electronics failedIn 2019 I was departing Charleston SC for Florida when all electronics went dark aboard the vessel. I was able to download the chart to my app before loosing the cell signal heading offshore. I then navigated for two days using my IPhone only! Was a life saver!.Version: 2.1.2

JarelI’m very impressed with TZ .Thank you for your tech service. The only thing is that I would like to have a hard copy of the tutorial so I can research the system function to better understand the use of TZ..Version: 2.3.6

Seemless integration with FurunoThe TZ iBoat app is the only app to have onboard. So many unique features are packed in, yet super functional. Easy and intuitive to switch back and forth between this and Furuno TZTouch 3’s interface with lots of integration. Works great with a variety of gateways. Super weather! Great job!.Version: 2.4.0
