Snowflake Weather for Positive User Reviews

My Weather App of ChoiceA great weather app that provides fast access to just the data I need, and in an easily understood format. The app appears to be polished, very mature and free of issues. One inconsistency does stand out. The wind direction arrows at the top of the daily forecast details page point in the direction that the wind is blowing to. However, the wind direction arrows on the wind speed graph at the bottom of the same page point in the direction that the wind is coming from..Version: 1.40

Fantastic detailed and reliableThis is THE weather app to have. Uses BOM data but also overseas data so when you travel you’re not left stuck. Worth the subscription fee..Version: 1.40

Good startGlad to have a well-made app made in Australia to replace Pocket Weather. Feel like I’ve given it a fairly thorough test drive, and the one thing I really miss is having the radar autoplay when I visit the radar tab. Would be a great option to offer in a future version. Keep up the good work!.Version: 1.0

Excellent app. Up to Bjango standards!Fantastic app with quality UI design with great customisation options and a wealth of information beautifully presented. My only nitpick is there appears to be no option to present the temperature as low/high in the widget, rather than high/low. This seems odd given there is that option is part of the hourly forecast within the app. Can a low/high temperature option be added to the widget please? 😃.Version: 1.1

My New Goto Weather AppFantastic Pocket Weather replacement app, love the choice of data sources too. Just couple of things would love to see added. Wind direction for outlook, not just speed. Handy when planning cycling. Be able to delete places or re-order list of previous locations. Otherwise very polished for version 1 and would highly recommend buying.Version: 1.0

A great entrant to the weather categoryI’ve been using this app since the start of this year. It’s been a really good interface, although a little bit of getting used to. Just a few are missing from the BOM data to make it really great. 1. Icon badge temperature: it’d be really useful to see a preferred temperature measurement on the app icon without having to open it. 2. Synoptic charts: for those of us who want to see the synoptic charts, an option in the radar tab would be great to see, especially if we can view the previous few. 3. Predicted wind direction: looking at the forecasts, it’s possible to see how fast the wind will be over time, but the direction should be present too. The forecast text doesn’t always specify the wind direction..Version: 1.11

Best weather app for AustraliaGreat all-rounder, ideas for improvements: Forecast wind animation Lightning tracker In-bound precipitation alerts a la Rain Parrot Would love to be able to have these features whilst enjoying the privacy standards Snowflake promotes.Version: 1.30

Great New Widgets! This is my fifth favorable review of Snowflake. I love this app. It’s my go-to weather app for a quick, accurate summary of the outlook. Everything about this app is thoughtfully conceived and well executed! The volume of information is tremendous, the user interface is top notch, and the graphics are tremendous. As if all this were not enough, just recently, the developer added 11 great stackable widgets for iOS 14. These widgets are the best among the major weather apps. Please note: The negative reviews written by others are hugely unjustified, and likely written by those who do not understand data. This is a five-star app. If you are “into” serious weather information, this app is the one for you. It’s well worth the price. Strongly recommend..Version: 1.30

Best weather app ever! This app is well worth the money! It is very well built and thought out. I don’t mind paying a few bucks for a high quality app. Great job guys! 😀.Version: 1.0

Good weather app but has faultsOverall I like the app. However, the Today widget doesn’t use the new iOS 14 Widget feature and isn’t able to be placed on a Home Screen. I would consider perfect if that was resolved..Version: 1.20

The only weather app respecting its usersSnowflake belongs to that rarest breed of apps that do not pull any analytics, ads or tracking on its users (even the government’s own BOM app uses Google tracking). Given it handles all weather queries on the user’s behalf, the user is as private as it gets. It’s also an excellent weather app, by the way, with pretty much everything one could want in one’s weather report. And as good as it already was, a recent update made it even better. If I’m allowed to offer some improvements, they’d be: 1. Being able to handle multiple locations at the same time, or at least offer better management of locations to skip between (including deleting places that no longer interest me). 2. Improve watch integration. The latest update improved things, but often the watch complications still lag hours behind the current status. Watch integration is a major reason for subscribing, so this really needs a fix. 3. Can we get a guide or something to explain all the app’s features, as well as what all this weather data means? The subscription price is very reasonable (given running costs) and, minor issues aside, is a no brainer. Overall, Snowflake is an excellent app from an indie Aussie developer with an excellent track record..Version: 1.11

My new weather appBeautiful, fast and extremely detailed. Happily signed up for the subscription!.Version: 1.0

Great so farI have been a long time user of Weather underground, so I have been looking for a replacement weather app. I found snowflake from listening to Renee Ritchie on MacBreak weekly. So far I am loving the design, especially the hourly view that’s complete with precipitation chances and temperature. I do not mind paying for the app or subscription as I was doing the same for weather underground for around the same price. Their app is charging 20 bucks a year now which is crazy. Things I would like to see would be the ability to select my personal weather station as a source and the ability to scrub through the radar with a slider. Thanks for making a great app so far..Version: 1.0

A lovely weather appI went with this app as recommended by MacBreak weakly as an alternative to PocketWeather which will soon close down. This is a lovely app but I’m still missing the UI / features of PW. It’s great that you’re considering multi location support. Thanks!.Version: 1.0

Good Alternative to Pocket WeatherWith Pocket Weather being discontinued, this app is a decent alternative. A few things could be improved: 1. Price - I feel if the app is going to have a subscription, then it should be a free app. $7.99 seems a bit high considering alternatives like Willy Weather are free and have a one off payment to remove ads. 2. Radar could be simplified - I feel like the radar could use the same visuals as BOM or Pocket Weather. I find those apps have a very simple and easy to read. It would also be nice if the radar would default on a loop. 3. Temperature Graph - I would like to see a graph like Pocket Weather where there is a bar at the centre of the graph to display the current time you are viewing which can be scrolled forward or back in time. These are little complaints, but the app is new and I’m sure will be continually improved upon. It isn’t quite to the standard Pocket Weather was visually, but it isn’t far behind. I myself would use WillyWeather if you’re not looking to pay for an alternative app..Version: 1.0

Good bits and bad bitsI use reading glasses so I like to be able to see the weather without having to put them on. So the temperature is good, so is the precipitation likelyhood. I also cycle so I like to know wind speed and direction both are in very small type and the former takes an additional click to see (if you can find it). Bigger fonts and more customisable please. It could be better. Update Thank you for your reply. On the phone I would like to see in large font on the first screen the temperature, wind speed and direction, and precipitation probability. I enjoy maps and graphs but with space constraints and small fonts I can’t read them on the street. Younger eyes can have more data in smaller font on the first screen..Version: 1.0

Solid but needs workThis app provides a good reading of weather, and I will continue to use it. It’s definitely not worth $8 considering the other apps that are out there, but it’s good. Generally I find the interface and ease of use around the app needs a lot of work. The design is average at best on the main screen, particularly compared to pocket weather. There is so much small text on the main screen. It would be good to add a “feels like” line, and also make the current temperature in the middle instead of the far left. I find it strange that you can’t save locations. Going into history is not enough, I just want to save a list. Overall the data is useful, but the look of the app needs an overhaul, and to look cleaner. Update: I’ll add to that list by something I noticed today when it was hot. I would like to see what the hottest temp was of the day, and at what time it occurred. On the home screen..Version: 1.11

Great startGreat start for a version 1.x product team! Can you please consider changing the Apple Watch implementation so it shows you the cached data it previously loaded until updated data is available? Not only would this speed up load times (which can take a considerable time), it might mitigate some of the crashes I’m seeing..Version: 1.1

My new favourite weather appI very much like the look and feel of Snowflake ❄️ 💖 Perfect for my needs as I like to check weather overseas as well as local weather. If I would add anything then maybe two things. 1. Weather warnings in current location. 2. Ability to also remove added locations, also the ability to make it easier to add overseas locations..Version: 1.0

Lightening fast, clean UI and huge watch choicesLoving my new app and went with the subscription as I am from Melbourne and weather obsessed. Super fast to load. Lots of complications to tinker with. Wishlist would be to reorder home sections as I would prefer hourly graph to be at the bottom and also the rain loop. Complications are full of options but find it a little tricky to work out how it will look. Not sure if the wind speed in the circle complication is syncing correctly. Dark mode is awesome. With only a few days remaining to transfer from pocket weather the arrival of snowflake is perfectly times. Do your self a favour and subscribe..Version: 1.0

Clean Interface, Good Options, Fair PriceI’ve used most all the weather apps, with their premium options, and check-in multiple times per day across all my Apple devices. I love how clean this interface is — maximum info in minimal space, yet easy to read. With Plus, I appreciate being able to use TWC data that is consistently more accurate in my location than any other weather provider, and the Apple Watch interface is well done and supports the all latest complications in an easy-to-use manner. I’ve relegated my snarky weather app and a backup I used to a folder — with Snowflake front and center on my iPhone & iPad, Widgets for both, and Apple Watch 5 complications. Snowflake is certainly one of the best first version apps I’ve purchased in a very long time. I am A-OK paying a reasonable subscription fee for additional weather sources and Apple Watch support. Negative reviewers on this point simply don’t understand basic economics where weather app developers pay for each update from weather sources, so it’s not viable to give it away for free, for a lifetime, especially as multiple devices such as Apple Watch fetch data more frequently to keep it current on your watchface — just in case you look — even if you don’t. ;) The $4.99 fee/year is nothing compared to most other apps out there. My only initial suggestions: 1) Provide a method to provide feedback like this directly from the app; 2) Add a Mickey temperature digits-only complication that is larger and can be read without a magnifying glass; 3) Show watchface graphics in Apple’s Watch Complication App as Snowflake complications are selected there (all Snowflake is blank now.) These are all minor things in the scheme of things — it definately shows professionals have been involved in the development (like what I’ve grown to love with iStat Menus on Mac for years.).Version: 1.0

Thanks for making improvements for Canada! Thanks for making the environment Canada data nicer :).Version: 1.11

Works again!Had a period of nonfunctionality but seems to be up again! Great weather app with a useful widget.Version: 1.40

A great way to get the weather forecastI love this app. The data is so well visualized. Excellent line graphs. As a user of this team’s world clock app, I love the sun and moon data. Thanks for providing that info, I miss that old app..Version: 1.30

I like it...Would be a 5-star app if it sent notifications. Don’t know why folks are griping over the price. It’s literally a bit more expensive than a value meal at a fast food restaurant so eat a bologna sandwich and invest in this app....Version: 1.0

Great app!I’ve tried a few weather apps over the years and hands down this is the best all round for Australian weather with a great ui. The only downside is that It may not get as many updates as some other apps eg. carrot. But it is a solid build..Version: 1.40

My new favorite weather app.It combines the top 2 or 3 features from each of my other weather apps. Quickly became the one I use daily..Version: 1.40

Informative weather appReally enjoying this app. Very reasonably priced and has most of the info you could need. My only suggestions would be to have the radar automatically play when you go the maps tab, show wind gusts speed in the current details tab, and speed up the Watch app. Takes quite some time to load (but I am still using an old Series 3). All in all a fantastic weather app and a joy to use..Version: 1.40

Fantastic AppI’m a long standing Bjango fan/user. I’ve read most of the comments and I feel there are so many that are unjustified and wanting so much without being willing to give anything in return. The app does everything it needs to and more. The information it provides is great. The widgets provide the perfect amount of ‘at a glance’ data without being cluttered. I am happy to pay for the work put into this application plus the subscription, knowing full well that each data retrieval comes at a cost to the developer. Thanks Bjango! Another fantastic product..Version: 1.30

IStatMenus wonderful weather app, now on you iPhone or iPadI have been using iStatMenus since version 1 and have found it indispensable utility. Now you can get that wonderful weather app on you iPhone or iPad. The app shows a lot of info in one single page with very simple and intuitive menu. Best of all no adds nor tracking as most other weather apps. The app is very intuitive and has a lot of data well-organized. Need to purchase pro version for weather maps and a few customization features. I prefer to pay this developer than to use the supposedly free apps that mine your data, location, contacts, and other priceless personal information just to save a few dollars. At least with this app, others are not making money out of my personal information..Version: 1.0

Really promising appGreat to have a quality BOM data app with ongoing support. Apple Watch support is worth $6 a year for sure! Do you think you could allow scrolling back in time a bit, say 12/24hrs to see what the temp got to?.Version: 1.0

ExcellentSimple to use with a detailed interface that’s not cluttered..Version: 1.0

Best Australian Weather AppJust missing iOS16 lockscreen widgets 🙏🏼.Version: 1.40

Most accurate weather app I’ve foundI live in a rural area, and the major weather apps report the weather from the closest city, which isn’t very close. Snowflake is more hyper-local, I assume because it is based on DarkSky weather. Works well with Apple Watch as a complication, though it helps to have a more modern iPhone than my previous XR..Version: 1.40

Very promisingThis app has come a long way since launch - love the level of detail and the watch complications. One gripe - having a colour coded scale of 0-100 knots for wind speed does not make it easy to quickly grasp wind conditions. Wind speed is not like cloud cover or precipitation - you need to know it with somewhat more precision..Version: 1.11

Glad to see this app get an updateI really like this app. It’s hard to find a privacy focused weather app, and when I do they usually charge way too much for features I don’t care about. Glad this app sticks to the basics..Version: 1.40

Just 1 more thingGreat app but for 5 stars would love to have an animated synoptic chart available..Version: 1.0

Excellent ProgramInformative with great design. Would like estimated amount/quantity of rainfall, if possible (using Dark Sky as provider which provides this information)..Version: 1.0

Great weather app. Cannot understand bad reviews. Are you kidding me? The detail that has gone into this app is truly impressive… the only reason I can see for negative reviews is the baffling greed and entitlement culture regarding mobile applications. People expect apps to just be free, and for app developers to just pay the bill for constant API calls to services that supply real-time data. Well let me tell you something, kids… it doesn’t work that way. Designing, building, testing, and maintaining a quality application takes painstaking hours, money, risk… and quality ones cost money. A SMALL AMOUNT when you think about it. Anyway, I won’t coBrunei to rant… I just felt like I needed to say something. Amazing work from Bjango on this (as usual) Love it!.Version: 1.30

Excellent widgets, excellent appJumped over after Pocket Weather gave their recommendation and have loved it. Been waiting eagerly for the iOS14 widgets and seeing them now and the huge range of options and customisations is great!.Version: 1.30

Favorite for iPadThanks for adding the new widgets. This is my favorite weather app for iPad..Version: 1.30

Looks great on first useNo complaints about $10 + $5/yr for good app and weather data. Have the whiners in these reviews ever seen what it costs to build and support a great app? I love iStat menus and happily pay for the full data there as well. One feature request: I’ve added several frequented locations. Is there an easier way to get between them in one step? Perhaps a swipe? Thanks for your great effort here. I appreciate good UI and am happy to support it. (And thanks to Rene Ritchie for recommending this app).Version: 1.0

A Quality Initial ReleaseI’m a pocket weather user (well, was... 😔) and was in the market for a new app, based on recommendation looked into this app. It’s a great initial release, and Bjango is a great developer who I trust. The app has good weather detail and the radar/mapping support is great, and has a nice widget. It has BoM data which is a must for me. Its so far a quality, stable app and I am rating it as such. I do have some issues (and forgive me for comparing it to the very mature Pocket Weather): - No multi-location support - No weather alerts - I really don’t like the heavy use of (near) black text and iconography, it feels oppressive and makes the UI feel cluttered. - The interface editor is.. not great. It’s not all that clear what I’m changing and how. It would be nicer to be able to WYSIWYG-like be able to customise the interface. - I’m really not a fan of detailed iconography, again it makes the app feel cluttered. Many of my complaints come down to personal taste, and so the developer and I may have different philosophies when it comes to design. Thanks Bjango for making this app, I look forward to see it improving over time..Version: 1.0

Great Weather AppWould love to see weather notifications (alerts from the national weather service as well as just “it’s about to start raining”) like other weather apps have. Otherwise this app is fantastic. Great UI. Tons of detail. tons of customization for apple watch complications. A great desktop Mac app companion as part of iStat Menus. Keep up the great work!.Version: 1.20

Love this appHope iOS 14 widget is in the works because this is my preferred weather app..Version: 1.11
