I Love Film - Grain Filter for Positive User Reviews

Great app.Keep up the great work with this app. Cheers Australia.Version: 5.4

I love film appLove the app! Although there are many different filters etc that are only able to be used if pro is purchased, the app provides plenty of free filters and tools to edit your photos!.Version: 4.0

PDGreat app, just love it. Recommend trying it, you won’t be disappointed..Version: 3.7

FilmVery good App m. I like the Film.Version: 3.8

Updated review[03/27/2019] Works well. Nice photographic effects. Film emulation is pretty accurate with excellent results. Regarding subscriptions, if past paid in-app purchasers can use all functionalities without having to pay again (subscriptions), it makes me happy. (I despise Subscriptions. It's an apple racket to make more money).Version: 3.0.1

Excellent set of filtersExcellent set of filters. I love the fact that they are named for real films instead of obscure codes (I’m looking at you VSCO). My only slight issue is that this is iPhone only. Since the introduction of the new iPad Pros in 2018, more and more photographers (me included) are switching to an iPad workflow for their DSLR/Mirrorless photography. I’d love to see a dedicated iPad version of this and would be happy to support the developer by purchasing as a separate upgrade..Version: 3.1

Amazing re-creations of many vintage filmsWith every other app in the app store being another film/filter app, "I love film" stands out and above the pack for it's attention to detail and faithful recreation of many vintage films. The editing tools are great and totally sufficient, although it would be great to have a "border/frame" tool to complete the editing suite. This and RNI are the two best "film/filter" apps in the app store..Version: 3.5

Fabulous filmHaving used the sister app Darkr I was keen to try it. Not disappointed! The range of films are great, all well implemented. If you, like me, are interested in retaining a link to film photography go and get it. Impressive app..Version: 1.0.2

Shazam!I need to start photographing more boxing matches because this app knocks me out..Version: 5.6

Good app but not exactly greatI loved the content on composition. Pretty good stuff. The app itself is not that great. There are better apps for filters..Version: 4.9

Convincing grainUsing this app and the dark room for years now, the grain is like real and does remove the pixels easily creating a nice „print“ image. It’s the only app I know so far creating convincing results..Version: 5.6

Great photo editingOne of the best photo editing apps in the same ring as VSCO. Not quite as fully fledged (yet) but updates keep coming. Also, it’s a fraction of the price to unlock all features. Two things I’d like to see next is the ability to pinch and zoom into an image and the ability to be able to rotate light leaks. Keep up the good work!.Version: 3.2

IlfordI was a bit sceptical about this - but scrolling through and finding all my beloved old Ilford film stock just got me a bit misty eyed. Clearly created and executed with a lot of love by smart people. Hunting out my old F3 this weekend..Version: 3.2

Almost perfectI’ve tried dozens of film simulation apps and software and wasted literally hundreds of dollars. This was only $5 and is easily my favourite so far but it does have a few issues which I’ll mention. First I’ll say one thing I really appreciate is that you can export in full resolution. A ton of other apps seem to cap exports at 10mp so that’s a huge reason why I love this one. I like to use it on pics from various cameras so that’s important to me. The biggest downside is the ISO/grain effect. There is no designated grain effect. You can increase photo grain by boosting the film sim’s ISO but there are two issues with this that I’ll lay out. 1. The preview doesn’t work/isn’t accurate. The grain appears way larger and more intense than it will once you export it, so you have to export it every time you adjust it to check if you want more less. 2. The ISO grain in some film simulations looks unnatural if you boost it because you can see it is a relatively small repeating pattern. As a result, I usually keep it low in the app and then add grain after with another app. So it’s tedious to use. A designated grain effect with a slider for size and intensity would be great. A few other things I would love: 1. Compatibility with desktop. RNI films for example allows you to use their iPhone app on a Mac and it works great. 2. The ability to add white boarders would be nice too for sharing in social media. Allow you to select aspect ration and zoom / boarder thickness. 3. Batch processing! Thanks so much developers you’ve done great! I love it..Version: 7.2

Dope appNice.Version: 5.4

Nice B&W presetsBrings the presets from DxO Filmpak to iOS. Only problem I have (and it’s major) is I work with raw image files. ILF won’t load these files saved from Lightroom Mobile CC..Version: 1.1

LOVE THIS APP BUT.....It would be nice if we could have the option to take pictures with the volume button. So that and this is a 5 star app.Version: 1.2.1

Great film editing app!Wonderful app. Very easy to use. The film effects are great! Add in light leaks and you can really create some expressive photos. The In App purchases are amazing value for what you get. Highly recommend 📷.Version: 1.0.2

Good but needs work on savingGreat app but the film grain doesn’t translate all the way when you save to your photos.Version: 4.2

Love this app, but.... would really love an iPad version. Although the app runs absolutely fine on iPad, there is a lot of wasted screen estate as it is just the double resolution iPhone version. Any chance of an iPad version?.Version: 5.6

Love this appThank you.Version: 1.8

Great App for beginners and pro photographersSuper cool app with amazing customer service. I had an issue with restoring my purchase and they sorted it out within hours and now it works fine..Version: 5.1

Having Fun with This AppI purchased this app a couple of days ago and love it. I have shot with film cameras for over 20 years and love the Kodak Tri-X 400 BW film. Still shoot with it today on occasion. The recreation in the app is pretty good and very close to the point that without a reference, you wouldn’t know the difference. A couple of things I’d like to see w.r.t workflow. 1. I’d like import HEIC or RAW files and export them after editing to formats other than just JPG and PNG, like HIEC or RAW 2. W.r.t workflow, I prefer to edit photos on my iPad as its easier to see and work with. Do you have plans for a native iPad version. I would rate it at 10 stars...LOL Thanks for a great app and you have my full support...Version: 5.6

Best filters on the marketFantastic app, and the filters are brilliant, all based on original film types. Def recommend the full purchase version..Version: 1.6

Essential appLove this app. Simple and intuitive tool for those of us who like to tweak our “digital film” photos..Version: 3.3

Worth the pro versionI like how the pro version is a one time think you buy not a monthly subscription. And it’s not over priced and they even do limited time discounts sometimes. The only downside I had was you don’t have an account so when I switched phones I had to buy pro again because there is no login. other than that it’s a great app with cool filters and affects, and they are still adding to it... I think..Version: 5.4

Updated ReviewReally responsive developer and the app is working correctly now with the latest update:) It will even process my 50mp Canon 5ds raw files without hesitation. Now I can get a little closer to the old days/looks of shooting with my Nikon F3’s and Contax and Zeiss lens combos without having to be in the darkroom....Thanks for the awesome support!!.Version: 1.1

Price & EffectivenessThis app is perfect because there’s no monthly cost or subscription, you pay once and you have everything unlocked. App works perfectly and is exactly what I needed..Version: 4.5

HiiHello, how can I add a setting to regular or remove the grainy effect? The grainy is very strong in my images..Version: 1.1

Good stuffNeat little app. cool features..Version: 2.0

Nice selection of film presetsWhile the selection of film presets are great. Would have given you 5 stars if I we could could save in tiff for serious photographers. Also an added grain filter would be nice. ( and yes I am aware of the dust and scratches filter).Version: 4.7

My New FavI love this app. I’ve used SO many photo editing apps over the years and this is now one of my main go-to’s. The film simulations are excellent. Definitely worth buying all of them. I love some of the more crazy ones like infrared, and I love the more subtle ones like Fuji Superia. The ability to add your favs to an easily-accessible section is great! The basic editing tools work very well and provide just about everything I usually need. The vignette tool is very good. The light leaks are really cool for times when you want to go all out and heavily edit your image. I have emailed the developer about a few features requests and they responded very quickly and positively. Between this and Darkroom, I’m all set..Version: 1.7.1

Nice selection of filmsNicely created film based filters with a simple to use interface. Film looks are pretty authentic and the pro version is far cheaper than buying every film pack on RNI films or subscribing to VSCO. Looking forward to future updates.Version: 1.4

Absolutely Brilliant! The app and developer are outstandingly brilliant. Can't praise enough. Thanks so much!.Version: 3.0.2

Perfect!Basically an all in one app to edit your film pictures. Can’t wait to start using all the available filters. In app purchases are definitely worth the money!.Version: 1.0.2

Loving this cameraBeen experimenting with BnW at bit. Was originally using the app for processing. Now I’m loving the camera with the ability to see films before The Click..Version: 5.6

TimelessClassic filters! I absolutely love it..Version: 1.2.1

I love this app A++++++I was like wow! This app for photographer is amazing. A++++++.Version: 7.0

I live filmExcellent App it makes you understand the historical photography and helps you to analyze the old pictures. It also helps you to explain to someone who has questions about different colors. Thank you.Version: 5.2

Good analog film appThis app has a wide variety of free filters such as Kodakchrome which add very interesting vintage mood to your photos..Version: 5.6

Certainly one of the best (updated)I recently reviewed this app and suggested a couple of additional features id like to see added. Imagine my surprise when a couple of weeks later I find that one of the features has already been added along with some more great features. Naturally I instantly upgraded to a Pro to support the developer. This is certainly one of the best retro photo apps available. More filters than you can shake a stick at. I would still like to see chromatic aberration, and some sort of soften/blur slider added in future if possible..Version: 1.9

Far better than VSCO 👍What a great film simulation app. I’m a long term VSCO user who’s turned their back on them since they monetised their app and removed a load of presets and adjustments I’d paid for. Didn’t think I’d be able to find something to stand up to their admittedly great simulations but this knocks it out of the park for a very reasonable price. Can’t recommend it enough, easy to use and very high quality filters which are fun to tweak. Seriously great app here and deserves to be a massive success 👍👍👍.Version: 6.0

Buy it!I’d recently fallen in love with retro/vintage filters, and wanted to find an app that I could easily apply this to photos. I downloaded several, and very quickly worked out that this was by far the best of the bunch. There is SO MUCH CHOICE, and I absolutely love being able to save my favourite filter combinations (gotta love a bit of filter consistency on your Instagram grid, right?). After a very short time of playing with photos I upgraded to unlock everything. So worth it, and I’m over the moon that it’s a one-off charge rather than a subscription. If I could add anything to this app it would be an option of applying similar filters/effects to videos too. Incidentally the other apps I tried have since been deleted - this is definitely a firm favourite!.Version: 4.4
