Scriptable for Positive User Reviews

Documentation could use example stubsThis is an impressive app in the sense that it allows the user to perform “native” scripting on the iPhone to create files, present information using native iOS functions. The documentation for the functions such as “Alert” lacks example “stubs” and leaves out similar information a beginner needs. The online forum helps a great deal in filling some of the gaps. The included example scripts provide helpful information as well..Version: 1.4.3

BrowserGreat app; but the built in web browser has an issue: Web content is displayed under the notch and status bar. I have a scriptable action that sometimes requires me to view a web page (to log in and out) and the site's menus are at the top. It's impossible to use the menu at the top. I've only had partial success rotating my phone to access the menu. Please fix! 🙏.Version: 1.7.4

Great app, responsive devs.Great app, complained about an issue with prompting for a review. Now it’s fixed! There is a way to tip the devs for their creation in the app. Great model I’m happy to support. 🎉.Version: 1.0.2

I’m finally comfortable doing iOS automationI’ve been meaning to try Scriptable for a long time, and finally gave it a spin today. It’s SO MUCH better than using Shortcuts’ scripting language! Not only did I get my “upcoming birthdays” script working the way that I wanted it to, I was able to fix a date range bug in JS that I couldn’t figure out how to do in Shortcuts. Plus, as a bonus, now I’ve got a widget using my script that works with parameters. All this after noodling around for just part of the afternoon. Thanks so much for Scriptable..Version: 1.6.12

Honestly one of the best developer tools on the App StoreNothing else to say than if you need a dev tool this is the one it’s amazing.Version: 1.5.3

Great app but remove name tagSo much can be done with this app. I just wish you could hide the name tag on widgets. Other widget apps are starting to do it now, so we know it’s more than possible. Those names ruin the look of the home screen. Other than that such a great and powerful app..Version: 1.6.12

Fun for programmersReally fun app, good examples to work from. Finally I can build and run apps without a big laptop and SDK..Version: 1.0

The Greatest Pair for Siri ShortcutsThere’s a few quirks here and there, but they’re only graphical, so your content is all safe and sound (from my experience so far). The documentation is 10/10, and the example scripts are wonderful for new comers with all the comments! More features would be awesome, so I look forward to what is up next for this app. I just tipped the dev a caffe latte (the best in-app purchase I’ve ever made), but I wish I could give them a handshake for an app well done 🤝.Version: 1.2.3

Must have app!I recommend it!.Version: 1.6.3

Pretty goodYou can use it for widgets on home screen, remember the “scriptable” widget then select your script!.Version: 1.6.12

SetInterval is not set ?!?!The very first thing I try! A setInterval in order to set the brightness back to 100% (for some reason IOS keeps reducing it even if auto brightness and accessibility features don’t allow it). I get a message saying that setInterval is not set... like it was a variable! That function has been around since dinosaurs... what exactly do they call « javascript environment »??? *** Update after developer response: (I updated my rating too) Thank you for your answer! And for the alternatives. I understand. Javascript is used in many places with different engines. Node.js does have setInterval / setTimeout in the global scope. So for the benefit of other readers: just like in browsers, we should check first..Version: 1.5

Should Be An Editor’s Choice AppScriptable is by far one of the best apps I’ve ever downloaded. As a website developer, using JavaScript to program iOS shortcuts is like a dream come true. With the no ads and no premium subscription, it’s an app that I would definitely recommend to anyone with a background in programming. With that being said, I do have a few bugs and feature requests for the developer. The features include: - Word wrap toggle: on iPhone, it’s a pain to have to enter landscape mode just to make sure all the indentations are as they should be. A word wrap toggle would be a big help. - Theme choices: we should have the option to use a different theme for light/dark mode (for example: one dark pro, etc) - TypeScript support: this is pretty self-explanatory And the bug: - Accessing Contact and ContactsContainer in a widget results in a blank widget. However, this does seem to work if you preview the widget in-app using present..Version: 1.6.12

FabulousDoes just what it says. Very useful..Version: 1.4.14

Perfect tool to customize the look, feel, and feaures of your iPhoneI've had a blast making scripts and widgets to help myself and others improve the ways you can use your iPhone :).Version: 1.6.12

Great App - issue with iOS 14.6 RCAmazing app and worked great. But I just noticed that the app does not work anymore since I updated to iOS 14.6 (RC). I know I’m using beta program at my own risk. Anyway you guys, the developers can fix this? Thank you.Version: 1.6.3

Good thouUsing the app, it’s very good. Like you can use this app to do many things and tweaks by prompting it by using programming. It’s one of the best app!.Version: 1.7.5

ExcellentTakes the iPad to a new level..Version: 1.2.3

Needs this fetureThis app needs to refresh widgets, other then that the app is really good..Version: 1.6.5

Mr GarciaWhat's happened with the update, it used to work with the videos of social media? 🤷‍♂️.Version: 1.6.3

Really Nice Coding AppI have been a full time developer for 5 years and this is the best UI for a coding app that I have seen. Everything is nicely documented right in the app as well..Version: 1.4.1

Custom Javascript WidgetsThis app is truly incredible. With it you can easily run completely custom javascript widgets that open up so many possibilities never before seen on iOS. You can also create powerful automations using real code instead of trying to hack it together in Shortcuts. 10/10 would recommend..Version: 1.5

ExcellentMore example scripts please!!!!!.Version: 1.0

Lots of funWhat a great idea this app is, although I have to admit I must have lost several days to tinkering with custom widgets! Well designed and actively maintained by the developer. Thanks!.Version: 1.6.3

Best Automation App!This is probably the best automation app you could install. I use it more than Shortcuts, even. I mean, you can customize your device with JavaScript? How cool is that? Scriptable has a ton of nice features: A clean UI (settings, dark mode, log), extensive documentation, and a ton of custom APIs written just for iOS. With Apple’s recent iOS/IPadOS 14 update came the ability to create widgets with Simon’s beautiful ListWidget() api. No other app that I know of can do that. Those were the Pros, and the Cons are.... well... hmm... well, guess there are no cons. 🤷‍♂️ Also, since Scriptable is free, there is really no reason not to download it. So go download it!.Version: 1.5.3

Fantastic appThis is one of my most heavily used apps. It makes the iPad and iPhone far more useful - enabling their use for tasks that would previously have required a separate computer. It is difficult to overstate how useful it is to be able to develop and run arbitrary JavaScript on the device itself. The uses for this are wide-ranging, including implementing custom Siri commands far beyond the capabilities of the Shortcuts app, and easily creating arbitrary new Widgets on the home screen. Full access is provided to most of the more useful iOS features including the calendar, contacts, file manager, keychain, mail, messages, notifications, clipboard, photos, Safari, speech, and many others. There are only two slightly annoying limitations. The first is that there are relatively few library modules provided as standard, and it is tricky to add others (it is not possible to just “npm install” additional modules). The second is that the built-in editor is extremely limited, e.g. without even basic find-and-replace capability. so for any non-trivial editing it is necessary to use another app. The developer is working on a new editor, so hopefully this latter complaint will be addressed soon. There is also great support, both from the developer and the community..Version: 1.6.3

If it could require other scriptsThis would be amazing if I could make a main script require() my others.Version: 1.0.2

Noting to sayIt is magic, the best ide I never see. 100/100.Version: 1.4.4

NiceAfter a minor iOS update I can use it and files actually show up in the Scripts pane. :).Version: 1.7.4

Wow, this is freeThanks bud. It’s amazing that this app is free, I can say hey Siri show me a comic and it’ll show me a comic. Now I’m inspired to learn JS, just to know how to mess wit this more!!.Version: 1.0

Shortcut LifesaverWhile I like building shortcuts, it can be cumbersome to drag around actions and link them and test them. If you're more accustomed to regular coding and you understand enough JavaScript to be dangerous (read: anybody coding in JavaScript ever), this app is for you. While it's not a full-blown IDE like Visual Studio or XCode, it gives you just enough to be able to test and iterate on smaller ideas. The additions in iOS 13 to the UI cannot be understated and have lead to me developing even more in the app. I cannot recommend this enough..Version: 1.4.3

Fantastic app!Great app great developer.Version: 1.6.3

PachinoWonderful App, but, I opened the app, and noticed one of my saved script was one.. *In other words, the app automatically deletes scripts it chooses to (Randomly, or selected by the developer). Also, Apple App Store and the developer, take note of this, this App “Scriptable” does not appear under the cellular data section, therefore it means one cannot put off the cellular data for the app.. noting the face that The Apple iPhone does not have 100%(total) control over the app.. This is wrong, a very massive bug, please this needs to be fixed.. This App has too much access to the apple iPhone. Please developers fix this...Version: 1.1.3

★☆☆☆☆Doesn’t cost enough. I don’t think this app has a sustainable business model..Version: 1.5.3

Ultimate JavaScript coding appMan your app is the best app for coding in js. I use it to learn js, I hope in the future you or someone else make a one but with ruby.Version: 1.2.3

Brilliant is not the word! This app has exceeded my expectations of how easy it is creating iOS widgets by code without the need of traditional developer tools. All thanks to Scriptable which has taken widget creating to a whole new level. Love it!!!.Version: 1.6.5

Nothing can beat this(UNDERATED)The thing about Color Widgets (why do they even spell it like that 😂) is that it is customizable but limited possibilities. Not few but limited. With scriptable, it is not like there is a lot. It is unlimited. With letters and numbers and symbols, you can make your dream widget, on top of this it is not only for widgets, but this is the main reason I use it) but you code things like the you PiP shortcut. It is the best. Only slightly annoying part is to find a script online for your widget. I recommend joining the r/scriptable on Reddit because they fix problems. Make a request and someone will probably code it for you. Well done Scriptable creators. UNDERATED.Version: 1.6.2

Good App Hope it would support PythonUseful app. Made short cuts more powerful. It would be nice if short cuts in the app could also be written using python..Version: 1.4.3

Shortcuts for JavaScript nerdsThis is an incredibly well put together and well thought out app that is a virtual replacement for the Shortcuts app, assuming you know JavaScript. One thing I can’t seem to make it do is behave as an input/output step in the actual Shortcuts app. It might be nice to offer a script with a return value as a suggestion there..Version: 1.0

A real godsend to the unorganisedDue to dyspraxia, I am normally terrible with self organisation and also have can have problems with a lot of the "helpful" apps out there that let you create deal with data in a graphical way or let you make shortcuts by moving actions around. This is why this app is a godsend to me. With integrations with both the calendar and contacts, I can write scripts with a Bluetooth keyboard that allow me to automate key parts of my life (you can then automatically run them with another app), and alert me with notifications about things that I need to take action on that I might otherwise miss or forget. This is seriously the most valuable piece of software now on my phone..Version: 1.2.3

Love this app! It’s amazing and way better than the default workflow/shortcuts app! This is a must have app if you know JavaScript and want to automate your life!.Version: 1.2.3

Works with iOS 16 nowLatest iOS update fixes scriptable!.Version: 1.6.12

Almost GreatJust learning about automation, this is opening up huge possibilities for me. Much better programming interface than Shortcuts for more complicated tasks. Only probs are some bugs to iron out: the Reminders Due Today has some variable scope issues which crashed & gave me a crash course in the scripting language to figure it out; I made “text” a global variable since it was defined in a subroutine but used outside of it, and made a unique instance of “reminder” every time through the reminders loop so each reminder handler would point to its own reminder not just the latest one. Also, the Reminders scheduling for a script crashes whenever I try to change the date/time. Thanks for Scriptable! So useful! Will tip!.Version: 1.5

Excellent App!This is an excellent app. Continue keeping it free and accessible to all people! I’m glad to provide a generous tip if it means keeping this app accessible to all. Last thing I want to see is another subscription based app. Great work!.Version: 1.6.2

Excellent tool!Thank you very much!.Version: 1.7.14

Fantastically powerful butThe app finally makes Shortcuts not a toy. However, as of iOS 14, some things are more complicated than they need to be. Stability is lacking still. But the progress has been incredible. Apple needs to implement their own integration tools in Shortcuts for this app to be able to pass data back and forth freely. As for this app, I’d only complain about the Documentation view. I think, it’s poorly presented..Version: 1.5.2

It’s what shortcuts and other widget apps wish they could beIf you’re on the fence about trying it, try it. You don’t even need to know JavaScript because you can get other people’s scripts, but learning it is easy and it may even be the thing to teach you JavaScript.Version: 1.6.9

Amazing AppI wish I had more use-cases to use this! Maybe add a Marketplace or similar feature where people can add their scripts and you can install scripts from others. (Maybe also and .env variable feature that reusable scripts can get secret values that users don‘t want to share) 🎉 Keep it up! Amazing stuff!.Version: 1.2.3

🥷I think it’s wonderful Apple assist people in creating apps it makes it easy and has a platform ball tools and guidance.Version: 1.7.14

I see great potentialThis is an awesome concept. Being able to write automation scripts for your mobile devices, on your mobile devices. It’s awesome and wonderful and as a Javascript developer, two thumbs ups. I just got three recommendations for you, to bump this from a 4 star to a 5 star application: 1. Documentation I don’t think should be a secondary window. If you can make it a sidebar, that would be huge. 2. Maybe include some common JS documentation too. 3. This is probably asking for too much, but automation for our automation app. It gets really annoying writing out every word so if the Scriptable app could auto add ending curly braces, etc. If these three things were to be implemented, heck, I’d buy you as much coffee as you’d like :).Version: 1.0

Fantastic appThis is such a well designed app. Thank you to the developer. :).Version: 1.1.3

GOOD AppGood app for learning JS. Would like to see some examples in the documentation to further understand syntax requirements. A lot of work went into the development of this app and probably has a way to go to be fully functional as a fully capable scripting app. I look forward to the next release..Version: 1.4.9

God bless you! Amazing! An indispensable, lightweight JavaScript runtime for shortcuts. Process data coming in, return data back. Great to patch over the things that are effortless in JS and a PITA in Shortcuts..Version: 1.4.13

GreatReally helpful for doing things that Shortcuts can’t do, like marking reminders as complete/incomplete! I like how it provides a nice JS Interface for the native Swift/Obj-C APIs. The customisable editor and the code suggestions are also very nice..Version: 1.5

Great productWould love some integration with GitHub / repository managers if this was possible?.Version: 1.0

Please add more to the galleryNot a lot in the gallery.Version: 1.6.12

A problemI like it but there a problem now.Version: 1.6.3

I wishThis app is great in all but it really needs a way to access files of the system and other apps.Version: 1.6.3

Great AppLove the platform provided by the app! One suggestion: Could you please add support for M1 Mac so the widgets can also be used on Mac? Like some other iOS apps..Version: 1.6.3

Obsessed. This app is fantastic. Please continue to keep it largely in the state its in — not giving in to any kind of over-monetization or deep change. You (developer) will absolutely and certainly have a community of strong supporters, which pays itself in dividends..Version: 1.7.13

WowLong Live Apple.Version: 1.6.12

I’ve only just scratched the surface…This app changes the ability to extend iOS in crazy ways. Can’t wait to see what other people do with it. The developer should charge something to keep development going..Version: 1.0

Unrivaled FunctionalityFor power users this app enables your phone to do so much more than it could out of the box. Deserves 10 stars..Version: 1.6.3

Amazing AppHave pythonista, pyto and a few other paid scripting apps. This is an awesome app, free and also great if you want to learn JS!.Version: 1.6.12

Apple watch supportWish it had apple watch support.Version: 1.6.3

AmazingDoes it job perfectly.Version: 1.5

This is amazingSo easy to use, and enables me to do things I could not do in Siri shortcuts. There's a reason this tool is so high on developer tools. 10/10 must have..Version: 1.5.3

Must-have app for scripting on iOS.I am absolutely amazed at what I can get done with this app on iOS. Thanks to Scriptable, I now have my own widget for my weather station before the station’s app developer has created one!.Version: 1.6.2

Pretty goodBetter than Shortcuts with the customization..Version: 1.4.13

Excellent😊.Version: 1.6.5

Good and bad thoughtsThis is a nice little app and it's amazing that the app developer donated it. i gave it 4 stars since my use cases dont necessarily line up all the the time with the capabilities of the app. I dont know if we can contribute on github to future versions. so it's at least a good starting poimt..Version: 1.6.3

Phenomenal!Amazing, if you are experienced in JavaScript, then download this app NOW. This app is so useful to create widgets that tell you your elevation, where you are, the current weather, I could go on and on!! JavaScript developers, GET THIS APP!!.Version: 1.6.3

Lazy guy here.I really don’t have to do much anything can be automated without much effort..Version: 1.6.1

The most professional theming tool everApple really needs to integrated that into its system..Version: 1.5.3

Stopped workingWorked great yesterday, today nothing will play .fix please.Version: 1.6.1

Really well written appThe features are perfect for JavaScript developers to use for iPhone automation..Version: 1.3.3

Holy damn this app is crazy!!My man how are you not charging people for this? Put a tip jar or something because this is impressive!!! Edit. I just saw the tip jar. Tipped :).Version: 1.1.0

Best app ever for scriptingBest app ever. I would love to see a new update. Without this app Shortcuts couldn't handle anything, but this app can do more!.Version: 1.6.12
