Quanta Granular Synth for Positive User Reviews

Audioshare for loading samplesPlease make it possible to upload samples from audioshare thanks.Version: 1.0.19

Love itGreat sound, nice to play with and lots of depth to spend time on..Version: 1.1

Updates with expanded factory presetsAs of v1.1.2. Heinbach excellence! Thanks for your continuing attention to product....Version: 1.1.2

Great synth; lots of glitches with mpe and seaboard block mode problemsTl; dr: Fantastic synth. Glitches galore with the seaboard block. Please fix. :) — Outstanding design, sound engine, and modulation capabilities. To me, what’s easier than with most granular synths with quanta is to program melodic patches that can be played like any synth patch. So it makes it easy to take granular synthesis out of sound design/experimental territory. Another way to put the point: quanta makes melodic granular synthesis just as approachable as something like wavetable synthesis. In practice, this allows users to turn any sample into a super charged wavetable of sorts. Following the oscillator and granulation engine with filters keeps this in familiar subtractive synthesis territory. The streamlined interface also favors good synth patch design habits: once you have your sound’s building blocks, put your energies into modulation! Very nice! — As is, my issue is with the mpe support. I got the app to use with my ROLI seaboard block. Turning on the mpe mode and the pitchbend override in the settings seems to work as expected with the default/init patch. But it makes the synth behave erratically with most patches: at times ignoring new key strokes, usually ignoring any pitch bend, etc. Usually turning off the mpe mode in the settings makes the glitches go away. There are no such glitches when playing from the on screen keyboard. It’s especially striking when I hit a specific key on the seaboard, and the app visually acknowledges the stroke by lighting up the corresponding on screen key. But nothing happens. Usually, if I just hit the corresponding onscreen key directly the synth works fine. — The pichbend override often makes pitch bend completely stop working when I move to a new patch. When that happens, going to the settings and turning the override off and on again often fixes the problem. Please fix.. — The issues aren’t Bluetooth related, as the problems remain when the keyboard is connected through cables. The issues also remains when using the AU, so it’s not a problem with the standalone..Version: 1.0.15

Yes!What an update that misspelled name was killing my cpu!.Version: 1.0.18

Another great synth from ADPhosphor is still a favorite of mine, and I like what they've done here with the subtractive-granular style of synth. Fun to get lost in any samples you have. To the guy who couldn't find the presets, open the standalone, click presets and click 'Get Factory Content'. Admittedly, this is not something you normally expect to do. Still, rash to be reviewing something at a 2/5 due to an oversight on your part..Version: 1.0.11

Great app just went stellaIts always been so much fun to use but the latest updates make the sound so much smoother, you know, if you like smooth granular. It is still possible to get grainy granular if thats your thing. Thanks AD for continued support for the poor cousins of the music world. One day we will buy your desktop products we promise..Version: 1.1

Great synth, welcome updateIt is always good to see AD releasing work for mobile devices, and good as well to hear news about laptop/desktop formats. Those should not be, at this late date in computer history, separate categories. Computers are computers, and the questions are which UI, OS, and processor standards to target for a given software product. Increasingly, mobile platforms dominate actual computer use, yet tech companies insist on hamstringing mobile systems to preserve broad use of multiple platforms that are not fully compatible. Aside stated, my joy at AD embracing at least Apple mobile - and my happiness about this new update to a key granular synth for musician pads - took a blow recently when I read of the release of the developer’s latest synth. Apparently, AD feels their new synth release is too complex for PadOS. Maybe the story is more that it would be too much of a hassle to port the synth to mobile, given the low prices and high expectations in this market segment. I hope users of mobile AD products can convince the developers to stick with us and to offer us the full range of AD software. In the meantime, I’ll be tucking into this update. If you haven’t yet bought Quanta and you happen to have read this odd nonreview, you are the type of person who should just buy the synth..Version: 1.2.2

I LOVE AuDi0 DaMaGe!?!Phenomenally unique GRANULAR SYNTHESIS!?! Thank you for all the amazing tools you guys have given us to create musici absolutely L0VE ALL your iSH!?!.Version: 1.1

Well designed and sophisticated granular sound design!I bought it last night and like it a lot. Haven’t watched any of the demo videos at all, but was able to get going quickly making my own sounds. Import of my samples was easy and straight forward. Figured out half the app on my own without manual, tutorial or demo in less than an hour. Downloaded the factory preset samples that are all magnificent. Seeing how they were made, ie. their settings... got me another 25% more knowledgeable of the app within another half hour or so. Getting to the last 25% of depth with take a bit more time of exploring. Overall, excellent UI design and very intuitive. I wish there were a way to see what your adjustments are doing to the visual pane the has the grain/wave thing while you’re making adjustments instead of having to switch back and forth. Well designed and sophisticated granular sound design app that’s easy to figure out without too much effort. It reminds me of the high level of hardcore sound design capabilities inherent in Igor’s superb Soundscaper synth, but easier to grasp the UI. Would buy this one again in a heartbeat..Version: 1.0.12

A lot of fun!Don"t know exactly what I’m doing yet but ‘Ohhh Boy!’ am I getting some incredible sounds out of Quanta! The quality seems to be there. I’ll be back later and write more..Version: 1.0.11

Super versatile full featured granularA straight forward granular synth without an experimental interface and lots of modulation options. I’ve just spent a few minutes with this but can already tell it’s going to get a lot of use. ** iPad mini 2 note ** so far it is a little slow on my iPad mini 2 for instance when switching from the sample load / preset screen to the synth interface but I’m sure Audio Damage will address this as every app I have from them is solid..Version: 1.0.11

Really good; unique synthWhen I first got this app I thought it was great and thoroughly deserving of a solid four stars. Now that this latest update has realigned the spurving bearings though I think it definitely has to get the full five stars..Version: 1.0.12

5 star but..User sample imports do not work ! Please fix this as it is near perfect, my only complaint..Version: 1.0.19

Finally working after update and a great appThis is a great app and does what I want for granular. However the audio import feature which is a massive part of the app, doesn’t properly work. I emailed the devs about this but no response. I’ve since read on forums that others have reported the same problem and also had not response. What happens is, when you select audio to import, the app freezes. There is a workaround where you can minimise the app and then go back into it, and then you can navigate to your audio. The app will then freeze again but you can again minimise the app, go back into it and finally complete the import. So overall I’m glad I bought the app and am happy with it, but I will be careful before anything else from Audio Damage. Edit this problem appears to have been fixed in an update so adding a star..Version: 1.2.5

Really Good, just a little short of brilliantGreat sound and functionality, and mostly easy to use. The preset browser is a bit fiddly, and there are no onboard effects, too few presets and a little awkward to navigate between tabs in the AU version, otherwise 5 stars..Version: 1.0.19

Functional Granular SynthThe app provides a lot of control and options for getting the most out of your samples. Being able to import samples from the Files app within Quanta is great. The ability to create complex envelopes to shape your sounds is a unique feature. Comes with lots of well designed presets. You can set the number of voices to minimize the DSP needed to create your music. Automating the exposed AU parameters adds more flavor to the mix..Version: 1.0.15

Fabulous start, has unfinished businessQuanta has a lot to offer, a LOT of controls, and some absolutely fabulous library sounds. It is already well worth buying for those who love to dabble in granular. However, the controls are rather small and fiddly, even at full screen size on an iPad Pro 10.5. The on screen keyboard could be twice the size. Midi in cannot be set to a specific channel. There is no Link. If these issues can be sorted, then it’s an easy 5 star product. Nic.Version: 1.0.15

Would be 5 stars...but I can’t find a way to get the Quanta keyboard displayed when using it as an audio unit in Cubasis (or maybe I’m just thick). Otherwise, completely amazing. (Contacted Audio Damage Support with my question, but no reply...).Version: 1.0.12

So good…….I ended up buying the desktop version as well. One of the best granular synths available, bar none..Version: 1.2.4

Don’t be stupid! You know you want this. It’s ridiculously awesome. Endless possibilities. Don’t be stupid and Purchase it. Intuitive and very useful. Audio damage knocked it out of the ballpark. Beyond cool even if it doesn’t have a f_ck all button..Version: 1.0.11

RecommendedA great developer, and a very creative app. Top quality, simple..Version: 1.0.12
