Pyto - Python 3 for Negative User Reviews

Not freeIt’s not free..Version: 18.0.12

Cant cancel the 3 day trialHack!!! Impossible to cancel no where on the app store neither the app.Version: 18.0.12

Its not freeDogass devs! U need to pay to use it. There is another free IDE in the appstore.Version: 18.0.11

Terminal not showingDownloaded this and pay for full access but terminal is not working. Hope dev can fix this..Version: 18.0.5

MisleadingIt actually costs money to use, they slap a 3 day trial on you.Version: 18.0.12

Super BuggyThis app is super buggy and crashes every time I run it. And I can’t seem to get any of the visualization libraries to render to the screen. I like the concept and it would be totally worth the $10 if I could get things to work right but I think there needs to be some more work done on it before charging that much..Version: 17.1.1

TrashThis app is a waste of space. You cannot do anything without buying anything!.Version: 18.0.11

Great app and interface absolutely ruined by suggestions boxPretty much title. I regret buying this after the trial period. Either get used to using suggestions off or deal with the horrendously intrusive and annoying suggestions box. Why does it come up when I am typing a comment? Why when I press enter/return to create a new line, does the suggest box think I want to input abs into my code? Very silly design..Version: 18.0.11

Unusable UIAccess to a reasonable suite of packages is not helpful when the editor is useless and the ap crashes constantly..Version: 18.0.8

Bloatware Scam Crap Gargabe - REQUIRES CREDIT CARD“Free app” that needs payment to function. Useless..Version: 18.0.12

User unfriendlyI want to be able to edit files on my computer, AirDrop them to my iPad, edit them there, send them back. When I AirDrop a Python file over, it won’t let me edit it—I have to go through the pointless step of copying and pasting the text into a new document before it compiles. If there’s a bug, because I am not perfect, and I correct it, the compile button disappears. I haven’t figured out how to get it back and I think I have wasted enough time on this app..Version: 16.1.1

Annoying autocompleteOverall I like the app. Really wish I could shut off the autocomplete. I spend so much time fixing the mess it creates. I just want one option to shut off the autocomplete, autoindent, autobraces, autoquotes, and anything else that the editor wants to type for me..Version: 18.0.12

Recent update was horribleI have a script that takes a manual input which used to work perfectly - it runs smoothly and typing the input was just as easy as typing in the iOS Notes app. The recent update makes the typing experience horrible - the cursor works properly only on inputs written in alphabets. It also seems to take much longer to execute than before..Version: 18.0.2

CrashesNice intuitive interface, the code completion was a nice surprise. Unfortunately had problems with crashes and with reloading modules after changing them (had to close/open the app to pick up changes) importlib.reload might have worked. But regardless the app crashes frequently on my iPhone 8..Version: 10.2.1

Y u do dis?I’m not giving you my credit card number. You’re app is just gonna charge me a “cancellation fee” or something after day 3 and the only way to stop you from taking my money is to cut my cards up and move to Cambodia.Version: 18.0.12

Pay to use fake reviewsThis app is pay to use. And is boosted with fake reviews. Instead of subscribing to the developer just use an online free python cli (there are many just google). Happy coding!.Version: 16.1.3

Not freeIt is download free, but you have to pay when you open the app..Version: 18.0.8

Paid onlyPaid only app now. Disappointing..Version: 18.0.12

GreedCan’t even try the app without having to agree to pay for it first. Seriously??? Deleted the app straight away. Awful way to do business..Version: 18.0.12

Not very intuitiveDebugger not very intuitive. One of my scripts stopped working for no reason. Needs better help documentation. Developer doesn’t respond to emails..Version: 17.1.1

Crashes repetitivelyThe app was repetitively crashing when performing a while loop. I also found that indenting was hard to do due to the lack of a complimentary “indent left” button..Version: 11.1.16

Disappointed heart breakI was really sold on this app and wanted it to work for me so bad. It has so much potential in the light of Pythonista. It’s a shame Pythonista has been left to die. I love that this app gives you access to all the PyPI modules. The world is your oyster, with a big BUT. The but is that although this app has a lot of potential it is extremely buggy. I tried working with it and kept reloading my script or force quitting the app and reloading it. It just gets old real quick and it becomes quite evident you can not rely on this app at all. I feel heartbroken, I will have to go back to Pythonista and hope one day this app get out of beta stage. I paid for the full app of PyTo. That will be my contribution and hope one day I can leave Pythonista for a polished version of PyTo. Cheers..Version: 18.0.11

No longer worksThis app used to work well, and made it easy to customise shortcuts. Now not even a hello world or the examples provided in app will run. Disappointing to have paid for this and now the app is unmaintained..Version: 18.0.12

Version 11.8 is completely brokenI just updated. Now I can’t open any existing files from any location. The REPL spits a dozen error messages when I tap on the expression entry field. Running a one-line Hello World script takes many seconds to compile and then spits a dozen unrelated errors about Matplotlib. How did this get past testing before you released?? Pythonista does not have these kinds of quality problems. Their releases are solid. Every time..Version: 11.8

Pre-Sale QuestionHi, I would love to give the app 5 stars but I have a pre-sale question. The trial period was only for 3 days. First, thank you for a trial period, but for working people, 14 days should be a minimum. I download the app last Sunday. I had a very busy week. I never had a chance to try it until this weekend. I never got to evaluate it. I went to the app website but their was no support or contact us page. I thought I’d try asking the question here. I use Pythonista. I love it. But, it’s limited. I’m working on a project that involves Django. Pythonista dosn’t natively support Django. I have to install stash. Which does work. But is quite buggy. Does Pyto allow for Django development?.Version: 14.0.1

Versatility bested by bugsGreat support for different modules — pandas! :-) — but this thing crashes often enough to put me off. Also, somewhat limited by iOS, but that’s to be expected..Version: 14.1.5

Need better user experience designThe user experience is a bit confusing and not that clear. I like the functionality though but needs some time too figure out where to do what and what is available and what is not. I bought this as part of the package, the price is good but the user experience needs re-thinking..Version: 2.4

CrashI was just about to buy it and then realised it keeps crashing. So relieved I didn’t dish out money for this trash..Version: 16.0.1

Cannot install 3rd party packagesWhenever i got to install PyPi packages it freezes, or at least the ones I want to use. in particular "numbers-parser" It doesn't even say what is happening it just hangs and you have to restart the application..Version: 18.0.12

This aint it chiefYou're probably looking for a way to use Python locally on an iPad. This is not the app for you. The UI is confusing as hell and I can't figure out how to run a REPL without using Shortcuts. That would be fine if there was any documentation, but there is almost nothing. The app is not built with iOS-style permissions in mind, and I find it difficult to know where my work is being saved. I would recommend a few apps instead of this one, depending on what you want. If you need on-device Python, use Juno and work in a Jupyter notebook. If you need a terminal with Python, use a-Shell and have fun working around iPadOS's restrictions. If you want to actually get work done on an iPad, I'd recommend using Tailscale and Blink Shell to remote into a different computer and work on the command line. It's way more work to set up, but it's actually designed to function and it's battle-tested. Whatever you do, this is not the app for you unless you just want to mess around. Don't even try to do your job in this, you'll just hate yourself..Version: 18.0.11

Nope. Better read.No reply from Dev. The free trial part you have to do to even see the app has no way to cancel and the “contact” button doesn’t work and there are no shortcuts keys above the normal keyboard almost impossible to use. I had to get Apple support involved and they’re watching charges for me so they can refund when this hits. Do not download unless you want me to say I told you so..Version: 18.0.11

Local Code paid? Why should I have to pay to run code LOCALLY, no server costs, no consumer costs..Version: 18.0.11

3 day trial? How does a 3 day trial help me when I’m trying to learn to code Python? 30 days free trial makes more sense because anyone who is going to seriously use Python will probably keep this app for years. Otherwise, 3 days is completely useless and just annoys people..Version: 12.2

Just bought full version and found that matplotlib import and cython compilation do not workPlease fix 😔.Version: 18.0.2

Sus 🧐Need to pay, just let us do our job! No one wants 3 day trial.Version: 18.0.12

UselesswareThe program is basically useless. The “trial” version works for three days only, and after that, it basically takes up system disk space. I understand that there is both a paid version and a free version, and that the paid version might well be a decent application, but since this isn’t it, it gets one star. I’d give it less if I could..Version: 16.1.3

They advertise on store as free, but it is NOTApps that show free on the store but then charge you to even use it should be banned on the App Store. It is not free as the price tag suggests and it is deceitful..Version: 18.0.12

Started well, but....First impressions were great and I quickly got up to speed creating a couple of test scripts. However, when I created a project I had problems editing the files when using the on-screen keyboard. I couldn’t scroll to the bottom of the file. I contacted the developer, but didn’t receive a reply. Then the three day trial expired, so I gave up..Version: 15.0.4

I wish I could give it more.Using it on my Mac has been so hit and miss. SIOmetimes I can open and run previous written programs, and then other times I open the same program and it is blank. There is no pattern to this. It is not a reliable app for the comp..Version: 17.1.1

AwfulGlitchy and you only get 3 days free before you have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to type things.Version: 18.0.12

Unusual Network Activity and Background ActivityEven when the Pyto app is not open and not being used is has a lot of background activity and network traffic - including to Hong Kong - and I’m in Australia. What’s the go with that Pyto?.Version: 17.1.1

Can’t access the app without having to payWho pays for something you can do completely for free on a computer.Version: 17.1.1

Good in general, but a critical functionality missingIt’s pretty good in general, However, the Pyto folder does not accept common external file types such as .CSV and .TXT which means you cannot read or write external file using Python. The ability to read external file is critical for fundamental data science and scientific computation. I really want to love this app but the missing ability makes it hard to recommend if you want to perform meaningful real life work..Version: 12.5

Great but editor is buggyThe app works great: contains pretty all of the most popular packages (numpy, scipy, pandas, etc). But please fix the editor interface! When I am editing the code, the bottom of the code editor does not rise to above the keyboard interface, hence I cannot see the bottom of the editor when the keyboard is up. I am using iPhone 6s. Please fix ASAP! (25/08/2020).Version: 12.5.3

What happened?!This used to be a great app. Now, if it runs scripts at all, it may run one—at most two—before the run button stops working and/or the console panel comes up blank. Sometimes closing the app and restarting helps—but only for one or two executions—and sometimes it doesn’t. My version is up to date. I have also removed and reinstalled with no improvement in performance..Version: 18.0.11

See its potential, but still buggy. It still crash on ios14.3 sometime, and ui still need improvements. But I can see its potential to become a great app, so I bought it as a support. Hope it can realise the potential, and become a great app in future. Then I will come back to give a five star. Looking forward improvements..Version: 16.1.3

Package installation no longer works, project looks deadThis used to be a pretty good, if somewhat quirky python environment for iOS. Unfortunately, package installation no longer works, attempting to install any extra python packages just hangs. Looking at the github repo for this project I see the last commit was in July 2022. This is starting to look abandoned. I can’t recommend this to anyone atm. Would be happy to revise my review if/when a new version comes out..Version: 18.0.11

It’s useless without payingI trust that it’s an awesome app however using it without paying for the full version is basically a waste of storage. You cant tun python scripts without buying it - so it’s just a text editor with generic syntax highlighting unless you pay.Version: 18.0.11

After I updatedThe top menu disappears when I open a script. Can't run or change between files..Version: 15.0.2

CrashingThe app crashes, at least under iOS 14.5, immediately on creating a new or loading in an existing Python script rendering the app useless..Version: 17.1.1

HmmmDon’t let us try for free.Version: 15.0.1

How do I cancel free trialI do not want to get charged as I have no option to cancel the trial please help.Version: 18.0.12

Perfect, very very perfect for those who are learning python.Just please continue supporting it for your own sake and not for us. So that you won’t be tempted to add some sort of a subscription feature. Also, can you add some shortcuts on top of the keyboard. Having to type () and and some other symbols are really tedious on a mobile keyboard..Version: 12.0.3

DO NOT DOWNLOADYou get tricked into clicking for a free trial to enter. The app didn’t even work so I forgot about it and just deleted it. I’ve now had a bill of £23 come out for the subscription. Before download, please read this and accept what I am saying so you don’t get caught out. I can’t find a way to delete the trial and it’s taken me ages to find out what the payment was for. Apple is showing no payments to this at all on subscription or anything..Version: 18.0.12

Crashes writing Hello World scriptsI have the pro version, and the app crashes constantly just typing basic scripts. It seems to randomly latch on to certain variable names and crash any time you type that variable name. The only way to temporarily fix the app is to restart your device. Haven’t gotten the app to work for more than 30 minutes consecutively..Version: 18.0.5

Crashes every 30 secondsEvery time i try to edit my code or write new code, about 20 seconds in it’ll shut down and quit. And i have to re open and it wont have anything saved. It’s crashed 7 times on me in the past 15 minutes. This needs to be fixed please. Otherwise great app..Version: 11.8

New PaywallIt was great until a paywall was introduced. Now it’s entirely unusable without a subscription..Version: 18.0.11

Works well when it worksThe app does everything it is supposed to, but it constantly crashes due to "keyboard error". It happens probably every other time I run a script. Very annoying..Version: 17.1.1

AvoidVery suspicious network connections and analytics reports coming from this app. The apps developer also openly has (rather poorly concealed) connections and shared code with known hackers on GitHub.Version: 18.0.12

InstabilityGood app for coding but its really unstable, there are frequents crashes and you can even be locked out because the app repeatedly crashes upon opening, i rebooted and the problem was still there and i had to delete and reinstall, some parts of the app is also slow like dragging the console log up and down which takes forever. I bought this to learn python but its giving me a hard time..Version: 17.1.1

No F-string :(Handy app to code python, but no F string..Version: 18.0.12

Did not update frequently, not enough featuresDid not update frequently, not enough 3rd party python packages!.Version: 18.0.12

Forget about itDo not download pyto. It tricks you into a 3 day free trial and then you have to pay for every single thing! Do not get. Terrible app..Version: 18.0.12

Wants me to Re-purchaseI purchased Pyto on June 18, 2019. It worked great until about a week ago when it refused to run because it said I had not purchased it. Supposedly this bug was fixed 9 months ago. The author states that a refund will be made if you purchase it a second time. I won't purchase a second time. How do I know I can trust the author to give me a refund when they can't (or won't) fix the bug? I am very disappointed..Version: 18.0.12

Crashes on iPad ProApp is unusable. Repeatedly crashes when trying to use the PyPi interface..Version: 18.0.11

CrashingYou can find lots of feedback online regarding Pyto crashing in many different ways. Right out of the gate, it crashed as I opened a file thru Working Copy (git), and immediately it lost knowledge about the 3~days trial and I had to accept the trial once again. A couple of files later it locked up, and I had to restart it. It now regularly crashes when a file is opened from Working Copy, sometimes the file is not opened in the Pyto editor, and sometimes Pyto crashes when executing a script. This is way too unstable for my (any?) use. And note, I don’t mind paying for the pro version, but an app, especially an editor, needs to be rock stable for practical uses, functionality is worth nothing in a constantly crashing app. Final comment: my iOS is fully up-to-date, was rebooted and I am using latest Pyto version. The app also crash in multiple ways. I don’t think this is a single minor bug fix, rather a fundamental problem that will require a ground up redesign of the app before it can stabilize..Version: 16.0.2

How to manual download packages? I want to install tkinter but it doesn’t work in PyPIAs titled.Version: 16.0

Looks promisingThe watch app crashes every time on startup..Version: 12.0

Watch out the 3 day trialI was expecting the three days trial to be free until I unexpectedly receive an 16,09 $ bill. Had to get reimbursed. Would not recommend.Version: 18.0.11
