✓ Simple, great features, excellent support!ARGO has developed a GREAT marine navigation app for iPhone & iPad! It’s straightforward, uncomplicated, has a clean interface / display that isn’t overloaded, is easy to learn, and performs reliably. They have really outstanding, responsive support and app has a FAQ/user help feature built in. It’s great to be able to pre-plan routes/ voyages (automatically or manually) and save them. We haven’t tried the social features yet, but they are there if you want them. ARGO is always improving the functionality and features of this app. They listen to users & encourage user inputs for future enhancements, too. The problem is the app ended up freezing within 45 minutes almost every time I used it. It was very frustrating because it wouldn’t allow to see my progress, zoom, zoom out etc…. ✓ Amazing app!I have a 16' aluminum boat with a 40hp outboard and love to explore islands in Casco Bay in Maine. I looked at GPS systems and couldn't rationalize the cost- not wanting to buy a system that cost half of my boat's value. 1 downloaded Argo and it has helped me to plan trips and navigate the waters. I find it feature-rich and easy to use. I often plan trips in my house and it's nice to chart routes and save them to favorites and then bring my phone on my boat. Would recommend to anyone in my situation or for someone looking for a backup to their gps navigation system. I don't have a lot of friends using Argo yet-although I've recommended it, so I can't speak much of the social tools included, but I can see those being a big plus. I also highly recommend purchasing a mounting system for your phone to affix to your boat's dash- I did and it's great to be able to reference the maps hand's free while underway. ✓ MultifunctionalI haven’t had the chance to use this on the water yet, but i can tell you that using this on land while at work as a Deputy Sheriff. I am able to use this app to quickly locate residences positions from the road. The multi-layer map view also allows me to get an accurate idea of what a property looks like before approaching. This helps out ALOT with officer safety when serving high risk warrants and handling other dangerous situations. My only con to this app is that it seems to heat my phone up and use quite a bit of battery. However, with this app being designed for aquatic use your phone would be more than likely plugged into a charger anyhow with plenty of airflow to keep it cool. Argo is an incredibly user-friendly and well designed app that provides a wealth of information and features for boaters of all levels. Argo has a fantastic navigation system that is both reliable and easy to use. The app provides detailed maps and charts as well as helpful route planning tools they make it simple to plot out a course and stay on track white out in the water. perhaps my favorite feature of Argo however is its social component. When initially downloading the app, I could already see how accurate it was because the level in my back yard was accurately reflected and they changed the water level this year to be increased by 2 ft. ✓ AMAZING APP!!I was on my boat as I was visiting Florida and I was deep sea fishing with my boat and I ran out of fuel so I had to use an alternative means of propulsion like sails, oars or paddles or wait for help. This happened to me though it was an engine failure rather than lack of fuel. My boat had a small skiff with an outboard motor and I didn’t have anything on me except my phone no paddles whatsoever, I quickly downloaded the first app i found and it didn’t help at all, I kept downloading them for 30 minutes straight and they never helped. ✓ Great ResourceI found Argo by accident and count my lucky stars that I did. It works flawlessly on my iPad. The advantage Argo offers are weather overlays, routing, tides and more in one app. I use in conjunction with a Garmin Bluetooth GPS antenna as a MFD backup. I also subscribe to Navionics. I find myself using Argo more frequently because the charts are easier to read. Also, with Navionics I have to download charts in advance. If I do not, no Nav charts. Very narrow paths thru very shallow waters. I'm not interested in the social aspect of the app, but as a utility, it does an excellent job. ✓ Great Functionality and It’s Free!I was looking at chart plotters for my boat so I could explore new areas of the Delaware river but they’re all more than I wanted to spend. On a whim, I searched the App Store to see if there was anything out there that I could use ( figured I wouldn’t often be somewhere that was out of cell range) and I found Argo. And what a find it was! I love that there are multiple map/chart types to chose from. I really enjoy floating the river at night - super peaceful! The chart plotting options allow me to do that worry free! I also like that I can search for destination types instead of specific names. This came in handy a few weeks back when I wanted to fill up with gas so I could extend my cruise. I searched for marinas and found one that was close to me ... refueled and has many more hours of fun on the water. There are so many other features in the app as well. Captains log - has it.
