Forks Meal Planner for Negative User Reviews

Prefences won’t stay setI purchased the 3 month meal planner, I have it set for 2 people for breakfast lunch and dinner with a snack but the breakfast always disappears. There’s a lot of recipes like date paste etc that aren’t in this app but are in the regular FOK app. I’d love to give 5 stars but it’s just not that we’ll organized, lots of recipes though!.Version: 1.4.2

No personal recipes in app; no imports of recipesI can only use a web browser to add personal recipes. This works only on the iPad, not on the phone. I also cannot import recipes from a website. Both of these things should be supported as basic functions in a meal planner given the pretty hefty subscription fee. 3 stars because otherwise this app is a good idea..Version: 1.4.2

Wasted moneyI signed up thinking this would be a great value. I love many of the recipes in the FOK app and thought this would further help me on my WFPB journey. The recipes in the planner are not the same and I found them to be quite bland. I thought I had signed up for a monthly subscription of $10 but was charged for a full year. After 3 weeks using the app, I decided it wasn’t for me and I cancelled my subscription. But it only cancels future subscription, I don’t get the “unused” months payment back. My fault for not reading the fine print. The only good things are the grocery lists and the weekend prep features, but since I don’t care the for the recipes, these features are useless to me. Very disappointing!.Version: 1.4.2

Good, but not enoughNot all recipes have nutritional information. Some have the “i” but it doesn’t pull up the information. The option to swap meals are limited and the 14 day trial is really just one week. I’m not able to experience if the following week is more of the same and it allows me to pick favorites. I thought the added feature was that the meal plan has all the nutritional balance you need so I’m skeptical into how can that be be accomplish with recipe swaps. If that is not available the only real feature is that it gets you the grocery list and prepping, which are great but not valued enough for me to stick with a subscription. We already have the FOK recipe app. We like it and light just stick with it..Version: 1.4.0

For iPhone onlyNo iPad version. In the magnified screen picture quality is poor as is the type quality. It’s clearly for an iPhone. Please develop a version for the iPad. I have to use the website via a browser which nullifies having the app because at least the website is clear..Version: 1.0

Great improvement over the Forks over Knives appI just started using the new app this morning. I love how it gets me directly into the meal planner. It is a bit slow though. I like the user interface too..Version: 1.0

It’s great... when it works. My partner and I have just started to use this app, and its fantastic at making meal planning a breeze. Unfortunately I just wish it would work 100% of the time. At the moment I’ve been able to successfully launch the app past the loading screen 5 times in the 36 hours I’ve had it installed, and have manually killed the app about 30 times. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern as to why it won’t load past the loading screen, and it’s affecting both my app, and my partners. It would be a 5 star app if it would just load when needed! Looking for my shopping list in the grocery store, or the steps to prep on the weekend is going to get annoying if it won’t launch properly..Version: 1.0

App crashes and doesn’t load recipes. Requested refund.I love the idea of this app and was excited to use it, but the user experience is awful. When I try to switch weeks the app doesn’t respond and I have to close out and reopen to see another week’s recipes. Also, the recipes themselves don’t load - when I click on one it just hangs and doesn’t list the ingredients or directions. Such a disappointment. I’ve asked Apple for a refund..Version: 1.4.0

Can’t set up an accountI wanted to try this out, but it appears it will absolutely not accept an iCloud “Hide My Email” email address to set up the account. All I get is an error message saying “ Error: Authentication Credentials were not provided.” For security reasons I NEVER use a preexisting email address with a new account (and certainly never, ever use credentials used to login elsewhere…that’s for naive people who will eventually find out how much fun identity theft can be). Trying new Hide my Email addresses doesn’t work. With randomly generated passwords provided by either iCloud or LastPass..Version: 1.4.2

Great plan but app will drive you crazyI love the meal planner itself but the app is terrible and it’s not getting better- it’s getting worse. I used to be able to view a recipe and then would need to restart the app to view another one. Now, none of the recipes are able to load. The app has now become just a picture of the weekly plan. I still like the website but please please fix the app - I think we’re paying enough to expect that.Version: 1.3.0

Love the concept, glitches out for me a lotThis app is great and has been helpful so far in making plant based meals. The one thing is that the app is very glitchy for me. It will freeze a lot and I would be forced to restart the app and start over whatever I was looking at. It is also slow and just does not run smoothly. If that were to be fixed I would give it 5 stars for sure..Version: 1.4.2

Too expensiveApp charges more then online price. Very expensive for what you get..Version: 1.1.3

Very plain without much varietyI like the idea of the forks over knives app and I use it as a jumping off point. Being new to this eating method, I have to learn a lot and this is a great way to do that. The real down side of it, and why I am not as consistent as I could be is because the recipes (like in the book) are so plain. They are built for what we think of as a cafeteria food for old white people, and really doesn’t offer anything more non European than tacos. Even the pizza ideas are hopeless with butternut squash, pineapple and sweet bbq sauce. With the huge community of black, Latinx, and indigenous peoples following a wfpb lifestyle, it’s a real shame not to tap into bigger regional flavors and ingredients. A lot of the ingredients are traditionally white food (parsnips and super plain squash seem to be everywhere), and make everything taste the same. My family would never eat this kind of food as it is, so I often have to work hard to switch ingredients to make it more culturally appropriate. Flavors err on the side of sweet (sweet potato toast with grapes) and the portions are ludicrously large. Three meals and you are eating for the week. Great potential here, but pretty boring if you aren’t skilled in the kitchen..Version: 1.4.2
