✓ DishearteningThe first version (pink background) works flawlessly! The new pro version is buggy. I contacted the developer letting them know the tile save function is not working for all symmetries and the did reply but it’s still not fixed. Unable to leave the app and then open it again and continue with a design as it then loads wrong (design is skewed and colours are off with inability to change it in the settings...ie. background now is pink and no way to change it. Using design mode and adding a single design the the existing design puts it on a new layer and won’t work when you go back to the original symmetry. Once design is saved it rarely reloads properly. Due to these instabilities it’s pretty much become useless. Tried reinstalling and same thing plus I lost any designs that were working in the process. Hope these are fixed soon as I would like to start using it again for my design work. The ability to save in larger formats would be a huge bonus, but please fix the other things first..Version: 1.0.5

✓ Very good. Just a couple of things missingVery impressed with the app. It’s a pleasure to use, and I love the amount of symmetries available. I just really wish there was a fill tool! Also something to smooth out lines, as it can come out a bit wobbly, even with a steady hand. As a professional designer I’m finding this very useful in my work..Version: 1.0.3

✓ One of if not the bestThis app is one of the best if not the past and create in symmetrical patterns and Mandalas. I have a large arsenal of products that perform these types of functions but they’re nowhere as simple fast and efficient as this has been. ✓ Amazing appAfter a long day of graphic design, I like to open up iornament pro, put on an audiobook, and just see where the pen takes me. The interface takes some getting used to, the app has its own internal logic, but after trying every other similar product, you understand why. It makes you better at drawing in the iPad, simply by creating a fun, carefree venue to doodle, which trains your hand. And the lovely byproduct is lots if inspiration and a new understanding of grids and patterns..Version: 1.0.4
✓ Another LevelAs a professional digital artist and art blogger, I have been using iOrnament for a few years and developed some interesting symmetrical elements for use in my larger artworks as well as some stand alone pieces of Mandala work. My go to app for digital art is from one of the more popular developers but even though symmetry is available in that, it doesn’t do it half as well as iOrnament. iOrnament Pro takes it up another notch. The glistening effect is great and the metallic effects have had a makeover. Export options are here although I would love to see a Psd format, but then I would love to see a 300ppi export too which would negate the need in part for psd export. If we could stretch resolution to 5000x5000 that would make it really useful for designing for print on demand, at the moment some tinkering with other apps and adding a larger canvas is needed. The real upside is that we finally have a developer who hasn’t gone down the trendy subscription route, just a one time fee that’s sensible and affordable for what it is. I saved a few pennies by using the complete my bundle feature because I already own the other previous apps which makes it great value for money. If you already own previous versions, check the bundle price before paying and you could save a few pennies too! My plan now is to create some complex mandalas for social media and export the animated drawing video to music I create using Garage Band on the iPad Pro. Awesome and very well done and especially love that over the last few years, this has also inspired me to figure out the math behind symmetry, that’s exceptional because I really don’t usually do the math on anything! ✓ One of my go to programs six starsBesides aperiodic tiling I have yet one more suggestion to make this some kind of super program ha ha… One out to be able to use the tiles as a background for a Magic Eye or Autostereogram-Maker software that use grayscale depth maps that can then be seen in 3-D by letting your eyes relax.... Great job so far I am always looking forward to see how this software develops and I would pay up to $50 for a auto stereogram function as I cannot find a decent app on the App Store that does this.... I know the Japanese have great stereogram software by looking at some of their books now let us see what the Germans can do Ha Hah Hah......Version: 1.0.3

✓ Excellent appThis app was fun from the start, and it gets more fun as I gradually learn more about its many amazing features. I still have much to learn and I’m enjoying every minute of it. I’ve been drawing with my finger on the iPad and the results have been great but I think for more detail and finer control a stylus would probably be an advantage. ✓ One of the very best design appsIOrnament Pro is quite simply one of the most powerful apps in the App Store for visual design. I have used iOrnament professionally for years and I feel that I haven’t begun to tap into its full potential yet. It is great for fun and relaxing doodling, but also has the depth and sophistication to be a very high end design tool. iOrnament Pro is one of the few apps that continues to surprise me with its capabilities, making it a perennial favourite. ✓ Addictive and useful!Fabulous patterns with a few strokes. Great for making patterns to cut out, if you have a plotter, or a CNC you really should have this. (You still need trace software) Aside from that, pattern creation with colour, shine and sparkle is addictive. Love the ease of use and the 3D shapes that can be designed as well. Although I am not concerned with the maths side of things, I think teachers could make use of this in class..Version: 1.0.4
✓ Hidden gem with a few interesting flawsJuergen, you must have spent so long making this app 😃More complex than Amaziograph. More useful than FractalScapes and Pattern Artist The best thing is being able to save an accurate tile as well as a full view. The worst a rather convoluted and unintuitive UI which took a few hours to understand If you are able to persevere and learn the quirks it's astonishing. No really. The app is full of easter eggs I would make the following observations. No fill bucket. Serious omission. Dreadful color implementation - at least give me a color wheel on the edit page I can use. There's only the brightness slider. If i want the other sliders i have to click another palette. Normal color wheel please No close file and open a blank new one. At least i haven't discovered it. Come on Juergen. I'm not being too harsh on you because in spite of it all i'm giving 5 stars. I certainly could not have made an app like this. Nevertheless, these are serious omissions Please make it possible to export the tile and the view in one operation. I haven't found it yet but is there a way of flipping the view to the full tile? Im really hoping it's there because this would be very useful. It would be great to work on a tile with the reflections out of view All in all amazing app. And many grateful thanks for not being a subscription Update. Gave a detail description of my problem which he was thankfully able to recreate and now the problem seems to be fixed. Jürgen was delightfully responsive. It’s obvious that he loves working on this app for others to explore math in beautiful ways. So, BUY THIS APP! SUPPORT NICE PEOPLE! EARLIER... 1/ The big failure of this app currently is that it frequently loses my work. The ornaments that have been saved are in the gallery but REFUSE TO LOAD. It is immensely frustrating so I’ll be using the basic version and will adjust this rating accordingly when this problem is fixed because I want this app to be successful. It’s a beautiful way to explore the mathematics of tilings. Hope the problem can be fixed. 2/ UPDATE: SEPT 29 Hours after I wrote this review, the developer has ALREADY contacted me. He is delightfully responsive. Upgrade from 2 to 3 stars for now. That is 90% of the battle with tech support.
