✓ Scam subscription appI get that apps need to charge a fee, but an app like this being subscription based is ridiculous. And the expense of this one is also off the charts! I was able to avoid the trap/scam of making you choose a 3 day “trial” then signing up automatically for a pricey subscription. I’m sure many have fallen for it, though. ✓ Underdeveloped and overpricedLayers need a lot of work. Let’s say you have one layer and second layer you want to rotate and make smaller. Such a simple task is impossible to do because the background layer gets selected and starts to move. Anything underneath will move if you have more layers. It’s needs layer lock. ✓ Extremely unstableI was ready to buy a yearly subscription but wow, I can’t save anything worth using! Motifs pop behind each other and can’t be brought forward, the elements are very hard to resize and rotate w any finesse, and there’s no logic to the order of the elements which changes every time you close and reopen the picker. ✓ Good, but poor user interfaceThis app is exactly what I need to make a pattern for a project of mine, but the user interface is less than good. You can’t zoom in very far, and it’s very touchy. It’s hard to keep images the same size while rotating them. If there were two separate ways to rotate images vs move images, things would run much smoother. (ie how transforming and rotating and enlarging images on google slides works) It would also help if just tapping the image allowed you to access the (duplicate, horizontal flip, vertical flip) menu. Currently you have to move the image, then tap and hold it twice to get the menu to pop up. It’s very clunky. Otherwise the app does its job..WafflehouseraveVersion: 1.2

✓ Slow, sneaky and low qualityI was looking for a quality pattern making software. This is not it. Little features. No instructions. Slow, and my simple design overloaded the app and deleted what I made. I am on the newest iPad Pro. To top it off, they corner you with a purchase after a few days and will charge weekly. ✓ Ehh, okay app, cool creativity.This app is pretty cool, I just downloaded it. Only two things I’m not fond of. One, with the free trial you have a certain number of patterns you can create a day, it asks you to sign up to create more, but you’re already signed up. So that’s annoying. Other thing is there aren’t a lot of options in some categories, nor is the app easy to maneuver. ✓ Falls short, and overpricedThe functionality is missing a few key features. And $364 a year is absurd for what this offers. 1) the app doesn’t automatically pattern options that go over the edge of your work space. To get a true perfect pattern you have to fit your objects within the square, which defeats the purpose, or duplicate objects and resize / move it to be perfectly aligned. 2) you can’t duplicate or delete an object. So if you want to get a nice pattern with objects that overlap the edges you have to eyeball it and hope you get it perfect 3) no customization for output sizes or shapes when you save 4) The app crashes every time I try to save 5) no easy option to create transparency for your own artwork. The eraser is ok but an easier tool would be the ability to select a solid color (like an unwanted background) or use a selection tool Overall, very mediocre and I’m sorry. ✓ Great idea, frustrating interfaceI love the idea of the app (hence the two stars as opposed to one) but something about the phone interface is VERY difficult to use. It may be because I’m used to using a computer being precise with alignments, measurements, etc but it’s very hard to align the objects and make them the size I want them to be. Additionally, I appreciate the size of the motif selection but it’s honestly overwhelming. It’s hard to sort through everything and the categories are messy at best. ✓ SighIt does exactly what I need it to do PERFECTLY (I’m a surface designer. I design complex repeat pattern tiles and I needed and application that would quickly and easily apply the repeat to a large canvas). It’s super quick and easy, just upload your tile and press apply, then drag the slider and save. BUT you only get to make two patterns a day for free. ✓ It’s okThe idea is very cool, and I like how it’s supposed to work, but most of the time it just doesn’t. The buttons have a hard time registering when you touch them, it’s very hard to undo an action (most of the time it’s not even an option). There’s a very small selection of background colours and if you try to import an image with its own background colour, you can see all the lines where the images are sitting next to each other. I really want to make repeating patterns for backgrounds, but all the other apps I’ve checked out are so much worse than this one. ✓ Gorgeous assets but poor usabilityThe actual assets within the app are gorgeous and the categories to separate them out are great. However, moving around the tile is incredibly difficult, zooming in and out automatically selects any image you have down, you get stuck partially zoomed in and you can’t resize or rotate an item unless you have both fingers in it. ✓ Not worth the subscriptionI’m not against paying for apps. I enjoy procreate and adobe fresco. I’m willing to pay if it adds value to my pipeline. This however does not. The idea is great. It’s why it got me to download and try it. But the implementation is glitchy. Works better with the proprietary art, but for my uses I really need to import my own stuff, and it starts faltering shortly after I do so. Also there is a glitch where it infinitely zooms away from the edit field after placing 3 objects. There aren’t many tools that can be creatively used. It’s capable of making very basic tileable patterns, you can’t use it for making game tiles or web design wallpapers. This on top of the predatory subscription model makes this a very disappointing app. I could see this pleasing very casual users for a .99 cent one time download price. It’s just a pain to scroll through until you find the category you’re looking for.
