✓ Fantastic when it worksWe arrived in Spain on Monday and my mum needs some antibiotics, I was able to translate with this app to get some and Iv used it most of the time. ✓ Excellent communication toolI downloaded this app before our last trip to mexico. We don’t speak Spanish and I have a slight hearing problem (deaf in one ear). This makes it difficult for me to understand the enunciation of words sometimes. I struggle with certain tones and that makes learning to communicate in a different language difficult. I hated asking everyone local how to say something and then not getting the word correct because I couldn’t hear their answers. With this application I could look up words and phrases and then the locals would teach me the “less formal” or easier way to say those phrases. I could communicate and this made the trip much more fun!.Version: 1.2.1

✓ Great Alternative to Google Translate!Apple Translate is a very good app! One of its highlighting features is the incredible design. It’s modern with rounded corners, which makes it a joy to use. Another highlighting feature is its unparalleled commitment to user privacy and security, which Google Translate lacks. This alone is what makes it a great alternative because Google freely steals an alarming amount of user data, in return for a ‘better’ experience. All translations made on Apple Translate are completed on device which makes it very secure. Speaking of translations, they are very fast and accurate, which is great. The selection of languages is also good, but it does miss quite a few. However, this isn’t something to concern yourselves about because Apple will inevitably add all languages in the foreseeable future. Overall, I strongly believe that more users should start using Apple Translate as their main translation app!.Version: 1.2.1

✓ It needs more languagesThis is a great and accurate translator app and I am glad that Apple finally got on board in creating one, but it needs more languages including language variations. In case you're not aware - Spanish (Spain) is NOT the same as Spanish (Mexico) and can often differentiate depending on what the translation is. Please get up to date in regards to this and other similar issues plus the confusing difference between how the app works when On-Device mode is “on” and/or “off”. As I mentioned before; Translate is a great, necessary, and needed addition to Apple’s many apps and has amazing potential but until these mentioned and other bugs within the app are fixed then it will never be able to compete with and/or let alone be on the same level as/with Google Translate. ✓ Works fine for meI’m learning Japanese and use this as my main translation app to check my speech. It works more reliably for me than the MicroSoft Translator app but it does make some amusing mistakes (I have learned some VERY rude words by accident). ✓ Put aside the pettyThis app definitely needs an update. No doubt. Interface can be sort of slow but I was just with a girl from Columbia and this app is the only one that would re arrange the words properly to make a coherent sentence in Spanish. Anybody who’s not a nitwit knows than a sentence in English will almost never be in the same order from start to finish in another language and vice versa. Apple and Google always puts it in normal order. Also I just learned this app integrates with ig and others to instantly translate using their method and it works every time.Version: 1.2.1
✓ Does the job without a mistakeI was using Microsoft translator until this one, to be honest if i compare this to microsoft translator, then i would comfortably say that i have found many mistakes on microsoft while this one translates any word without a mistake, there are far less languages for sure but i am sure this will be solved, this app is far superior against any other translator and it has only been a few years since it hit to the app store, thank you apple in order to bring us a professional translator and i hope they will not discontinue on this project as this app has got lots to offer. ✓ Confirmed by an ItalianThis app has been helping me speak Italian while I use Duolingo to learn it. If I want to say something but haven’t learned one of the words yet I will put in the English and then see the translation, but if something seems contrary to what I’ve learned in Duolingo or have questions I will confer with my Italian friend. Not once has she told me the translation was wrong. In fact she explains why it’s correct even if it doesn’t make sense to me. I’m surprised by all the low star reviews here. Especially the one that complained that his translation of tofu in Korean came back as bean curd… ya know, considering tofu is… bean curd. 🙄 Maybe we shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds us, it’s not even a paid app. And as far as languages go, when I wanted to learn Arabic Duolingo didn’t offer it, but I didn’t write them a bad review, I submitted a request for it. About a year later they had it available and I was thrilled. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want, rather than complain about it..Version: 1.2.3

✓ Translates Well, Nice Interface.Not sure where all the negativity toward this app is coming from. The translations are as good as the major translators I’ve used. I really like the interface which is clean and uncluttered. The one big problem for me is the voice translation. First it is unnaturally fast. No real person runs words together that quickly and with no thought for context in the sentence. Much better to slightly slow down the rate. The other problem is the voice itself. I should be able to select a male voice if I want or choose from a number of other voices. The “italiano” voice is far too high pitched and very annoying. So I never listen to voice translations because of these issues..Version: 1.2.2

✓ THE BEST TRANSLATION APPNow i have tried almost every translation app out there and after a long search I finally found it an app that’s true to its words and works in any language for any conversation from a single question to a run on sentence this app is for it and works flawlessly and I recommend that you atleast try it because ya don’t loose anything for just trying out the app worse case scenario you don’t like it ( which is highly unlikely) so then what? ✓ Very usefulI have found this a great app. Especially when I realise I could download the relevant dictionary when I was travelling in Europe and not have to use precious data! The camera capture of signs, menus etc for instant translation was super useful. I use it daily when doing my Duolingo learning of Italian. Only gripe at present which stops me from giving 5 stars is that in the camera function one can’t just reverse the language options, eg English to Italian and Italian to English without having to open the full list of languages. ✓ Best translation service available for Spanish but…This product from Apple is years ahead of all (I mean ALL) other translators. I use it primarily for Spanish. I’m irritated that Latin Spanish dominates the language but there’s no option. However, Portuguese? Brazilian only. I understand that Latin America has so many dialects and variations. However, there are commonalities from Mexico to Cape Horn. The Barcelona accent is ridiculous. No one in America is trying to sound like a Spaniard. However, someone at Apple needs to look heavily into the problem of pronombres. Apple Translate cannot properly translate with the correct pronouns. She, he, they, we, them, never translate properly. I have to feed the Spanish given to me back through, identify the problems, edit the Spanish which I’m not all that great at yet, feed it back through, and continue this process until the sentences are balanced and properly translate forwards and backwards..Version: 1.2.2

✓ I like the Translate App.I find it translates voice and text accurately, changing the Oder of the words from English to the other language (in my case German). The old saying about computers “ garbage in garbage out “ holds true. Meaning you need to speak clearly band write accurately. I find and love that the order of my words are changed making the sentences intelligible in the German language. I read many of the other reviews, representing your usual wingers, those making a judgment too soon and the contingent of nit pickers. ✓ Good app, needs more workOverall good app, but missing a few essentials. How come no widget? Google Translate has one, but not Apple Translate? Strange omission. It would be great if the camera feature could access all the camera lenses on the phone, especially macro mode. You ac only zoom in after a picture has been taken, not before. How come? ✓ Good - 1 Bug - 4 Feature RequestsNote for users: if you download a language or intend to use ‘On Device Mode’ make sure you see the the download indicator(circle) finish before returning to the translator app. Note for Apple: Bug: When downloading a language, a chosen language(s) does not download unless ‘Manage Languages’ window is left open until the language is completely downloaded. To explain further, if the language(s) being downloaded for ‘Available Offline’ is selected then user goes back to the Translate app, the language simply will not download. This bug is consistent with iPhone and iPad. It is not a network issue as it has been tested on a network with 1000Mb internet. Feature request 1: Capability to change translator voice (male/female). Feature request 2: Capability to have live conversation with three or four different language speakers at the same time. Feature request 3: Capability to share AirPods wherein live translations of designated conversation partner is shared while iPhone is in pocket. ✓ I like this better than google translateI don’t know why so many people seem to have so many problems. I use this app for translation between English and Japanese. Certainly not an easy task. The app is more forgiving about my non-native Japanese accent than Google Translate. It also allows short breaks in a sentence without cutting the speaker off immediately. It has never crashed on my phone and the translations are often more accurate than Google Translate. Important to note that none of these translating apps are perfect. Google for example cannot distinguish between the Japanese words for CHOPSTICKS and BRIGDE. Overall, I prefer Apple Translate over Google Translate..Version: 1.2.3
✓ Grateful, and love the layout 😍I love this app 😁 I've been using it on my iPad for translating Spanish (and a little French) into English. The layout and colors make this a genuine pleasure to use. Eventually, I discovered that without even realizing it, I was retaining the knowledge - probably because of the ease and quality of the presentation!!! Brilliant side effect 😂 ............ FWIW, for me, this is way better than Google, and has even replaced Bing, although Bing was helpful for me as well. Apple Translate is a great app!!!!!
