Rhino - Guitar Amp Sim for Positive User Reviews

Big muff fuzzI’ve only spent a few moments with Rhino, real guitar, and soft guitar. Isolating the pre section and fuzz, I was surprised to hear what sounds like an early Big Muff emulation. Rhino is worth the price just for the fuzz. Please make a Shin-Ei fuzz next..Version: 0.9

Very nice 🤟Makes everything sing 👍 ( apologies for initial review, AUv3 found 🙄).Version: 0.9

Excellent - great AUv3 tone right out of the overdriven box.Having a massive aisle-upon-aisle type of FX system just obtained for iOS/iPadOS a week ago, has actually made me decide to buy this. A quick’n’easy overdrive app, standalone and AUv3, Rhino is an easy-to-use effective tone box for guitar, or anything to be processed you want in that way. On expanding the AUv3, the front fascia has all the guitarist’s immediate needs - a large-ish EQ section with real-time waveform visible, and the flanger, chorus, phaser FX, and down bottom right the echo AND delay, I guess echo is tape-style, maybe delay is more transistor type?! The central ‘dial’ is minimalist and for the overdrive amount, it’s 4.0 right as the AUv3 appears, and that was good to get squeals in the style of ZZTop. But there are a gaggle of preset creators in the preset list, alongside the Developer themselves, and if the impression given is this is a cheap alternative app that is just for trying a few riffs out, that’s not the case at all. It’s really very good, I’ve paid more for less expressive and less-detailed tones. A great alternative to spending an hour at a time on ‘soundchain design’, Rhino is a very nice-sounding growly, squealing, fuzzy way to dive straight into playing that tone, not building it yourself. In fact, for the price, if all somebody did was design the tones, you couldn’t possibly get that done so cheaply. Not only is it very good as an effects box for guitar, but it’s very affordable, and I have bought it IN ADDITION to having just got a huge aisle-by-aisle system of FX that is brain-numbing with the range and subtle differences and nuances. In a way, Rhino is a great alternate FX unit to the inbuilt stuff in GB itself. It’s got a different layout, and doesn’t have detailed cabinets or amps graphics with gold-tops on them, but if we just decide that the outputted TONE is the important thing, and the minimal Rhino graphics like the trademark ‘multiple 50p-piece’ type dials are appreciated for improving real-time response, there’s nothing second-class about the sounds. After all, that gold-topped amp graphic, does NOT show the waveform changing in real-time when you alter the EQ! So functionally, this effects box is in fact superior. I love my massive recent purchase of super-detailed FX and one day, I’ll even properly be able to make full use of that level of control. But, the fact I got this as a sort of ‘reaction’ to the wall of technical complexity of that ‘aisle-upon-aisle’ system of amps and cabinets and FX processors I just got that my M1 iPad can handle, is a fair reflection of the inertia such a system can impose. Some days, you just really don’t want to face a massive list of FX catalogued by what you have not yet purchased (!), or create from scratch a split parallel circuit of ambient delays! Rhino seems really excellent for getting some playing and recording done. It’s so good you won’t have to re-record or re-FX it later in GarageBand or Cubasis or whatever you use in iOS. It stands perfectly well up against any guitar FX tone of any other system bar none. A lot of work has gone into making the preset tones cover a wide spread so you don’t have to do that yourself. But you can if you want. This is simply a great compact, effective overdriven tone FX with built-in other ‘usual’ stuff a guitarist needs, and it is standalone and AUv3, and I just downloaded the other version my iPad purchased Rhino entitles me to, on my tiny iPhone SE mk1. Instead of the all-in-one fascia, the separate screens are quickly accessible via a row of icons across the bottom of the 4” screen. I can’t see anyone regretting buying this, it’s impossibly great quality for the money..Version: 0.9

Ive tried them all, and this hands down the best amp sim.Spent a few 100s of dollars on apps, this one is in my top 5 along with mammoth. Can’t believe this quality is available to iOS for such a low cost. If you’re thinking about buying it…. DO IT!.Version: 0.9

Excellent. No disappointments here. Great sounding app with lots of tweak room. Well worth the price. Good job Rhino..Version: 0.9

Rhino and Mammoth incredible value and tone capabilitiesIncredible value for a honestly ludicrous price. For $6 you can have an incredible array of tonal capabilities for electric guitar and bass (Rhino and Mammoth) I record psychedelic pop indie rock alternative and both these apps get it done beautifully and so intuitively. These apps are not just for heavy metal, thrash, etc. I don’t play either of those genres and I get everything I need and more from these two apps. I’ve spent so much on nembrini amps / effects but I must say I prefer the usability of this app and it’s incredible what’s jam packed into one single app works great with cubasis and aum. Definitely a must for all guitarists and bassists like myself and for all those absolutely nuts about tone and sound also like myself. There’s a reason Aurora DSP only has two apps out….that’s all you need. Enjoy and make some great music.Version: 0.9

I love this amp simI’ve used AmpliTube and Bias FX for years but I find myself turning to Rhino more than either of these for a few reasons. 1. The sound is great. I play a wide range of styles and use clean on the edge of breakup way more than high gain. I’ve found I can get nearly any tone I need from this amp sim with some careful choices. The provided presets will get anyone started well enough but if you have used a real amp and pedal setup and have an OK understanding of how stage an amp rig you will have no problem dialing in some great tones through Rhino’s excellent interface. 2. Said interface. It’s the most useable one page amp rig interface I’ve ever used. I love the look, but the functionality rules here. Also, no tired skeuomorphic design. I don’t hate rigs that try to look like real gear, but all that artistry takes up a lot of visual space. Rhino packs way more into one interface thanks to not going this route. 3. The IRs and effects really make this sim sound fantastic. You can roll your own IRs but I haven’t felt the need since the ones built in sound great to me. The Flanger is a different take on this effect and takes some careful adjusting to get something that sound like what I’d expect but all the effects are great. 4. The hidden octaver. Touch the Rhino skull in the middle and drag to add octave effect. Another nod to the simplicity of the interface. 5. Audio Unit support. I can actually use this right inside all my iOS DAWs without relying on clunk Interapp Audio. This alone makes it kill my interest in most of the other sims. 6. Price. How is this so inexpensive and so good? Thank the metal gods I guess. - - - - - - - - - - - - DEV TEAM: A couple of wishes: MIDI mapping. If we could map a floorboard to turn on and off effects and settings Rhino would be the ultimate iPad/MacBook live guitar rig. A tremolo effect in the mod section would sure be sweet coupled with the RED pre amp model..Version: 0.9

Simply FantasticThis may be the best guitar amp sim on IOS hands down. I was hesitant on getting this since it seems to have been marketed for metal music which I rarely play , but I decided to give it a try and boy am I glad. So far I have been able to get awesome tones for all genres of Music with ease. If you enjoy tweaking the sounds to get that elusive tone, this app will be a huge help. This is simply an amazing Guitar Amp sim with a new and original interface that is very intuitive. So far no bugs or issues ( 2021 IPAD Pro ). For me my search for the go too guitar Amp Sim on IPad is over. Well done Aurora DSP..Version: 0.9

Best guitar rig sim I have found!I play everything from blues to Prog rock...Rhino does it all! Any chance we could get AUV3 support? Great job guys!.Version: 0.9

Why hasn’t the Devs at Aurora DSP allow Rhino on the “Mac” storeWhy can’t Aurora DSP release their AMAZING IOS “Rhino” amp sim app on the “MAC” AppStore? It is a simple check mark on the developers side to ADD this app to 1: IOS iPhone (check) 2: iOS iPad (check) 3: iOS Silicon M1-M2 chip Mac (NOT CHECKED) Why not just check that for M1-M2 users! Because when working on my 2024 iPad Pro, and then if I jump to my MacBook Pro M2 …I have NO Rhino in my plugin list! So it gives me a pop up that says “Rhino is not available for Logic Pro X” So I have to find a plugin to match. I have to use something that I don’t want to, so WHY not release the Rhino app? So with Apple releasing the new silicon chip, making a laptop “MacBook pro” have not only the capabilities of a normal laptop but the M1-M2 chip allows the laptop to use ALL THE APPS from the App Store that our iPad and iPhone IOS uses!!! This takes music production to a WHOLE NEW level… Three things in any product model is: Need Access Cost Apple has hit all the markets and checks all the boxes! Access and ease of use, as well as cost has made the APP STORE the number one place shopped! Even more than the grocery store! Apps are very inexpensive compared to their “software” counterparts! Is this why Aurora hasn’t checked the box to allow the app to be used on the M1-M2 AppStore? Is it that the Aurora DSP developers think they will lose money if they allow the M1-M2 users to use the “Same” app from the App Store? If so that sucks… and is a torn off! The love I have for Rhino amp simulator makes me NOT WANT TO USE any other “Amp Simulator” but pushes me to make a decision to use ANOTHER amp! Ugh!!! Please allow the Rhino app to be released to the MAC App Store!!!.Version: 0.9

Somehow better than all the other guitar apps…Love how simple and intuitive the interface is. But the quality of the sound is what blows me away. I’ve tried all the guitar apps out there and the major ones like bias fx2 and yonac and even GarageBand have so much noise when I’m plugged in. This rhino app however is different, so much quieter and gives soo much control over the gate. It’s my favorite guitar app right now. (Not crazy about the huge rhino skull icon in the center tho, lol. But oh well.).Version: 0.9

One of the best metal AUv3 amp sims!I bought all the amp sims that are available for iOS and this is in my top 3 of most favorate guitar amp sims. Really excels at high gain distortion. Phenomenal app!.Version: 0.9

SmokinAt last an app that fills that void..Version: 0.9

Awesome Amp SimulatorThis app is great. It’s the only thing that gives Nembrini stuff a run for their money. Great presets and a very nice noise gate. The UI takes getting used to since it doesn’t look like an amp, but it’s very clear and easy to learn. Definitely worth your time..Version: 0.9

One problemNot sure if this is fixable or if it is dependent on the users amp and phone, but it will really ear rape you on screeching sounds and I would like to use those, change the input, and save it as my own preset and delete the scratchy ones but I don’t think I can. Other than that, great app and works very nice, very cool modern look and probably one of the best amp sims I’ve seen..Version: 0.9

Insanely High Quality Amp SimEasily one of the best (if not the top) amp sims available in the App Store. The app offers a huge amount of tonal control and the sound quality is very high. It’s an absolutely insane sounding app. It’s more geared towards modern metal guitar tones but you can get any sound out of this thing. It’s Not too rough on cpu and loads just fine for me in Cubasis and AUM. It also comes with great presets which is nice. BUY IT.Version: 0.9

Incredible distortionIncredible distortion at your fingertips for a reasonable price. And a lot more..Version: 0.9

Amazing for the price! This is so good for so cheap. I was skeptical about buying it but the reviews sold me and I’m glad I bought it because it’s literally better than most of the ones I’ve purchased for 100s of dollars . It’s just not for metal even though that’s what I play mostly so if you play other genres you can get any sound you want especially the cleans are outstanding. The layout takes a minute to get used to but once you do it’s amazing the tones you can create 🤘🏻🤘🏻.Version: 0.9
