✓ No soundUsing iPh 13 Pro. not getting any sound Yes - phone volume at max and all sliders to the right in the app. Anything else to check? Correction - putting the switch on the side of the iphone to unmute works. Thanks.Version: 1.1.1
✓ Movement is janky - FixedEdit 6/1/22 Just tested the new build and movement is much smoother in the phone. The map stays put until I reach an edge and then starts to move. Much more playable now. The app is ok, but movement is very janky. As soon as I touch a character token, the screen starts moving up or down. Moving the token from left to right is a pain as the screen moving up or down pulls the token with it, dragging my movement path all over the screen. Is there a way to lock the screen in place when moving a character token that I’m missing? Using it on iPhone SE (2016 model) running iOS 14.8.1.Version: 1.4
✓ Good so far, needs improvementI use this when I want to play and do not have a Zargon. It has great potential. It is unforgiving if your finger slips and a character accidentally dies. (When using certain spells that lets you move through walls) It needs an undo button. The alt characters that most of us do not have access to are available which is nice, but the knights are not player options. Are the expansions not available yet?.Version: 1.4
✓ Great app just a few things wrongLove the app when playing solo or with the family. Makes life a bit easier. Although we have come across a couple of issues. Monsters are still moving through some furniture. When the wizard casts “veil of mist” the icon glows blue but he is still unable to move through monsters, so you wait till next move but then the blue glow disappears and its movement as normal. This does not work correctly as I have tried many times to use it and move through monsters..Version: 2.0
✓ Ver 1.61 seems broken?Update: the bug that was freezing the app has been fixed and everything is working butter smooth. This arguably the best companion app out there. The art, UI, and functionality are fantastic. The voice over work is stellar for both Mentor and Zargon and adds a ton of AAA quality fun and atmosphere to an already stellar board game. I really appreciate the updates with the expansions! I hope Avalon Hill continues to add in the characters and expansions pack levels. These timely additions and attention make the in entire Heroquest ip feel as loved by the developers as it is to the ravenous fan base. Frankly, I still cannot believe this is a free companion app based on the quality of build..Version: 1.61
✓ AI too simpleI think it’s great, but the AI just pushes monsters at the heroes. AI doesn’t need to be that dynamic but it’d be better if monsters in a room coaxed heroes to enter instead of lining up one at a time next to the door. Our party learnt to game the AI pretty quickly. ✓ Fun playI enjoy this app as I’m the only one in my house who plays HeroQuest. I don’t have to try to schedule a game night and sync 5 different calendars of friends. I can pull out the app and play a game. The one thing I would really like to see is the app being able to go in landscape. It would make it easier for the iPad to sit on the table and be visible and also mirror on the TV if I do have friends over so we can all see what it going on. It can now be used in landscape mode which is awesome. Now if I could use the app on my MacBook that would be ideal..Version: 1.3

✓ Solid startSo far I’ve been very pleased with the overall performance and features of the app. It’s a great experience for solo and co-op play. However, I’ve noticed a few shortcomings throughout my play throughs with spells, quest events, and minor functionality issues; nothing game breaking though. ✓ New bugsThe app is great but the latest update created more bugs than it fixed. Saved a game and went back to play and all the doors and monsters had disappeared. Tried killing my heroes to start the quest over and it brought me right back to where I was. Now I have to restart the whole campaign.Version: 1.45.2

✓ Great new way to play HeroquestReally great app that allows you to play without needing one player to be the baddie, a lot less arguments than when we where kids 😂 When things aren’t quite right it is flexible enough to allow play to continue as it should, I.e. following the physical game rules. The only exception is that sometimes a spell that would be allowed isn’t, e.g. a “anyone on the board” spell. It is missing 2 quest packs from the original series (UK), Wizards of Morcar (UK version name for Zargon) and Against the Orge Hoard, it would be fantastic to have those, and the “Advanced Quests” that came with a 2nd edition of the main game. Hoping these will be added to future updates 🤞 I am sure this app will keep getting better!.Version: 2.1

✓ Overall goodThe app will run the Zargon part of the game for you, which is very handy. This alone allows you to make the board game cooperative, as well as open up solo play. Voice work is quality, but very hokey for Zargon. I appreciate that it fits the game, but wish I could tone it back a bit. Player turn tracking seems to have a bug where it looses track of player turns when a wandering monster is triggered - it swaps to Zargon, then when it swaps back the hero’s that have already ended their turn are all refreshed. Minor nuisance at worst..Version: 1.4

✓ Darn near perfect…I can tell a boatload of hard work was put into this app. After playing 3 games with it, I have some suggestions for further improvement. 1) An undo button. 2) Less predictable enemies. Enemies always rush through open doors and into hallways every time a door is opened. This gets monotonous and predictable. Have them hang back and defend the room now and then. Or maybe have one charge out while the other blocks the door. *Anyway, excellent job on this app.*.Version: 1.3

✓ Great AppI have downloaded the recent update including landscape. However, it’s a great app. The main complaint being that it’s lacking in game features. Consider that this is a companion app and is not meant to replace having the board game. It’s a great companion app for the GM..Version: 1.3
✓ Good app, please add SharePlayI would love it if this app supported SharePlay. It seems like a strange request but it would allow us to play HeroQuest remotely. During the pandemic we managed to setup remote board games with an iPad showing the board. SharePlay would allow us to bring Zargon to everyone..Version: 1.2
✓ Sound?Most of the app works wonderfully, but there’s no sound of any kind when there ought to be. There are options to adjust volume, but I get nothing. EDIT: I deleted the app and reinstalled. ✓ One Quest Broken, Otherwise OkThe app is pretty cool but also a little weak in tracking things. It works well with the game but it doesn’t hold your hand in rules which I guess it’s fine. ✓ Doesn’t track spells correctlyI picked up Hero Quest last week and played our first session today. There are only 2 of us playing so the app is amazing since we wouldn’t really be able to play otherwise. Overall the app does a good job but the biggest issue we found so far is that some spells don’t seem to track correctly. For example we tried to use a spell multiple times that says the character can walk through enemies but the app doesn’t actually let the token pass through the enemy spaces. This kind of renders the spell useless..Version: 2.1
✓ Good but needs workNeed the ability end mission without waking all back to entrance. If monsters are dead let me finish mission. Also need a dice roller for monster defense. ✓ App works well, small wishlistOn the whole, the companion app does what it needs to, allows you to play solo or co-op mode without a GM/Zargon player, so it goes well with the game as is. There’s a few things I would wish for: • Allow saving your game. I have a dedicated gaming space, but frequently get called away and pick up/drop games for days at a time until I get free time again. If you run a game on this, you have to finish in one sitting or else that game is essentially “lost” by the app and you need to start over. Being able to save out would be fantastic. • Add campaigns for Spirit Queen’s Torment, Prophecy of Telor, and Crypt of Perpetual Darkness. These were part of the crowdfunding campaign, so maybe they’re exclusives or planned for later on, but it’d be nice to have app support for those. • Quest designer: this is probably a big ask, but would be fantastic to be able to make & play custom content. You’d basically be getting the community to generate content for you, vastly increasing fan interaction and people would likely start porting over 20+ years worth of homebrew content..Version: 1.50
✓ Love this AppI have always enjoyed my Hero Quest game, and this app has allowed me to enjoy it even more, giving me the ease of playing solo when everyone is so busy with their lives. Thank you! If there was one thing that I feel would really improve the app, it would be to incorporate the Treasure Cards. The rules require that you shuffle the treasure cards every time before a hero draws one. This is starting to beat up my physical cards. Overall. ✓ Love the app! Allows me to play with my kids.Love the app (love the game too, have all expansions). It allows me to play with my friends and our two kids as one of the heroes. The app works pretty well and thus far no issues for me playing the basic quests. The narration is cool and my son gets excited whenever he hears Zargon say ‘The [name of monster] has been defeated. With that being said a couple of improvement ideas for later upgrades: 1. A version for Windows: would love to use this on the laptop rather than iPhone. When we get together to play. 2. Ability create our own quests. I know there will always be limitations to the software as homebrewing and creating quests can be quite imaginative in a way software can’t emulate, but it would definitely be nice to at least create a quest using available heroes, monsters, traps, and add notes to rooms for treasure searches. 3. Add ability to play additional heroes (more than 4). 4. Lastly a ‘line of sight’ button or feature would be useful. There are workarounds but it would be nice to simply know if the dwarf can fire that cross or whatever. Anyways, great app. It looks good has a lot of flavor, and I’m looking forwarded using it more..Version: 2.1
✓ Love it!Haven’t had any issues so far although their are some funny things like I can move farther than 12 spaces and can take multiple actions in a turn. I would have assumed the app would prevent us from totally breaking the rules. But that’s ok it’s still awesome. My only recommendation would be to put the app on Steam. ✓ Almost perfect!I love this game, and this app makes playing it even better. My wife loves updating our positions on the IPad while I update everything on the game board, and I think it would be a hard sell to get her to play without it. Thank you! If I could make 2 suggestions, the first would be to add a map editor(quests wouldn’t a narrated into, just the ability to make a win condition window). The second would be to allow the player to control the monsters on Zargons turn, and allow them to choose who they will be attacking. Either way please keep up the good work, and thank you for bringing Hero Quest back..Version: 1.2
✓ GreatPlayed our first game in over 30 years last night and used this app! It was so much fun baring a few user errors on my part! We did find a bug though with the spell Veil of Mist. It doesn’t seem to allow the player to move through monsters as it should. Only other suggestion would be an option to edit model placement in case the person managing the app makes a mistake! ✓ Fantastic app but has a few bugsWithout this app, I wouldn’t have purchased the board game and expansions. Having the app take the place of the tedious and lonely Dungeon Master role so that friends can all play as a team is a godsend. App is gorgeous and works well although the extra actions you have to do on the device is clunky and drags the quests along a bit. There were a few bugs at the time of writing this review: several issues with spells or abilities that should allow hero movement through walls or monsters. They weren’t working which in some cases had significant implications for specific quests or heroes such as the Rogue and spellcasters. Also, the character image selection doesn’t match up with the right image on the digital game board. Hopefully they will fix these in the next patch..Version: 2.1

✓ Frozen Horror locking upHavent had a chance to play other quests yet but on the first quest for Frozen Horror (solo quest) app kept freezing up on the gremlins turns. Will have to play more to see if this is an ongoing issue. But the app also needs a save feature that isn’t “save & exit”. I shouldn’t have to exit the quest everytime I save my game. Edit: I appreciate that the developer took time to respond and is still improving this app. This app has made playing Heroquest a lot of fun because nobody has to act as Zargon.
