NAGWARE SUBSCRIPTION GROSS. DONT BUY!FORCED TO GET NEW APP... CONSTANTLY NAGGED FOR MONEY... GROSS DEVELOPERS... DO NOT BUY!!!.Version: 15.0.6

Free version nag-screens are a real thingI like the app and what it does. And I don’t really have a problem with a yearly subscription of $20 for the full version, I am not against subscriptions per se. I am also ok with the free version being limited in some way (including by a nag-screen) - that is after all how you evaluate before purchasing. But I have to say, the way that the developers have implemented the nag-screen to upgrade is a first for me. So much so that this is the first review I have ever made in the AppStore and this nag-screen implementation has turned me off the app so much that I will not be subscribing. This may not be a problem for everyone. But saying “there is a nag-screen, no big deal” does not give the full picture. They are transparent that the nag-screen will come up “up to a max of 3x per day”. What they don’t say is that there is a timer on the nag-screen that interrupts what you are doing for a significant time: 20seconds perhaps? Worse, if you “shake your device to fill this up quicker” the timer is supposed to be shorter but there really is not way to tell if that is so. As long as it counts down clearly, 5 seconds I could live with. Maybe even 10. But the timer as it is is just too random and long - and being asked to “shake to fill” is just juvenile… If the developers do not want to limit the app in other ways (only offer a subset of features?) my suggestion is to change that timeout to allow a limited “give me 5min” holds before it is forced (I would not be happy if I had a time critical situation and being forced to pause for 20sec). And rather than a “shake” prompt, my $0.02 is to just change it into a “take a break, it is better for you anyway” count down the seconds message….Version: 16.0.2

Really?I’m a long time owner of this app and am grandfathered into the “classic” option, an option that verbatim says “access to all blink.app features.” It doesn’t seem that access carries over to their new subscription service..Version: 16.1.6

The Most Pathetic Needy App I've SeenAfter using the app a few minutes it puts up a subscription paywall — not merely a nag screen to ask you to subscribe, the app becomes nonfunctional until a stupid progress meter has filled up. Does the developer have such little faith in the quality of their work that they need to cripple it to extract some cash? This is not the way to endear people into paying for your app. Software is free. Get used to it..Version: 16.0.4

REDACTAh, the description to migrate from classic to this updated version is a bit obscure. Fortunately, I found it and moshed again. It works fine. Thank you. Just wish the instructions for migrating was a bit more clearer. Hence 3 stars. Otherwise it would be 5 for I’m a heavy mosh user (in terms of basic Linux shell and irccing)..Version: 16.1.6

Another iTunes app goes from buying (owning) it to subscription - No thank you!I purchased the original version of Blink for $19.95 back when it was a “non-subscription” based type of selling model, i.e., you pay for the software 1x and you “own it.” Now the author of this iTunes app has decided to change his iTunes selling business model to an annual $19.95 subscription based model. Yes, the original Blink version purchasers do get access to the newer Blink version, but not the advanced $19.95 per year version. Back when we purchased the original version of the software, it was NOT based on a subscription based type of model, but the author has now decided to move to a annual cash cow model after the fact. The original Blink app purchasers who purchased the app thinking they “owned it” and any updates for it for life, is now over and to get the advanced feature sets the original Blink purchasers must pay annually for their original version of Blink is no longer being updated, only the subscription based model of Blink. I consider this to be akin to a bait and switch type of selling approach. If you really want to take care of your original Blink purchasers, then grandfather them into the $19.95 newer version of Blink subscription model for free for life - - not switching from what we originally purchased Blink for (lifetime 1x purchase) to a subscription based model that even the original Blink non-subscription based purchasers are now forced to go to and pay annually for to get all the future feature sets / updates. My point is, if you want to sell a subscription based model, then START FROM THE GET GO with that subscription based model so that users like me, whom purchase a non-subscription based app from you thinking we’ll get all future updates / feature sets and then switch business models on us from a “own for life” that we originally purchased the app as, to a annual subscription model that charges even original purchasers of your non-subscription model over to. I simply hate it when app developers offer their apps on the iTunes Store as a non-subscription model and then decide that they can make more $$$ after the fact and force original non-subscription purchasers to download the newer subscription app and stop further development of the original non-subscription based app they originally purchased. It consider this to be more than a bit unethical..Version: 15.0.3

Most annoying subscription nag on iOS yet"Shake your device to top-up your free minutes"... Seriously??? I don't like subscriptions at the best of times and I certainly won't be irritated into buying one. Deleted..Version: 16.0.4

Would be great if it had voiceover supportLove using this app to code and remotely manage a server but the lack of voiceover support mean its becoming less useful please add voiceover support.Version: 16.1.8

All it does is bug you to upgradeCan’t load an actual shell. All this app is is a front end that bugs you to buy a subscription, there’s not even the functionality of the old shell. It’s completely useless and misleading AF..Version: 16.1.7

Won’t pay for another subscription.I get the point of steady revenue with subscription (I work for tech startups myself), but ssh is a basic functionality that shouldn’t need significant innovation effort (usually the driving force of this pricing model besides greed). I’ll pay a one time fee no problem, but I’m not going to have another subscription in my life for a technology that has been around for close to half a century..Version: 16.1.6

Frustrating. Needs error handling. The SSH functionality works fine. The aliases are great. I do wish they also auto-completed for ssh-copy-id to make setup easier but that shouldn’t be an issue long term. My issue was with VSCode integration and the complete lack of error reporting if you don’t format your remote path correctly. For reference for anyone about to refund the app like I was, these did not work: code <remote>:~ code <remote>:~/ code <remote>:~/folder But this DID work: code <remote>:~/folder/ There is no error message that the path was bad or that opening the remote failed. It just completely ignored the argument and behaved like you’d only typed “code”. I also couldn’t find any UI to save or re-open recent remotes so you must use the terminal commands. I’m glad it works but its nuts that it behaves like this. Hope this helps someone, this detail was not in the docs..Version: 15.0.10

Owned to AnnoyedI purchased this app some years ago. Now I am being asked to subscribe or annoyed to update and buy-in to the subscription model. I could understand this for those who wish to adopt new features, but the legacy version should remove the annoyance to upgrade and give the option to suppress those messages. If I could give 0 stars for this decision I would..Version: 15.0.10

Seems to be quite buggyI had a need for a terminal on my iPad and decided to give blink a try, but it seemed to have some major issues that make it challenging even to use its built-in commands. The first thing I noticed is that I couldn’t send a SIGINT (^c) to any process that was running, as the input from the Magic Keyboard seemed to just be lost. There were also some oddities with some of the utilities, which ended up with me failing to SSH into my newly launched Linux system. I ended up giving up and going with a different terminal app..Version: 15.0.7

Subscription payment modelI don’t like that it’s subscription based.Version: 15.0.7

Forced to this versionExtremely disappointed they deliberately broke the old working version to force users to this one. Unnecessary pain caused by greed. Subscription model would cause me to uninstall if I wasn’t grandfathered from the previous version..Version: 16.1.3

Super neat but turned capitalist like everything else!Subscription nags are no fun. Great functionality though..Version: 16.1.2

Subscriptions are an unsustainable leech to consumers. App is good.I’ll preface this review by saying I hate subscriptions. I will never rent software. The bulk of this review concerns the new subscription model, so feel free to skip it if your feelings differ. I saw a developer response to a review indicate that the new subscription model exists to pay for new features that incur a server cost. That’s fine and understandable. However, requiring all users to pay these fees even if they have no intention of using these new features is pretty gross. Ideally you would only pay the rental fee if you were actually using the service. It’s nice that they allow existing users to continue using the base application nag free. I’ll give a star for that. The application itself is good. If I weren’t grandfathered in, however, I would look elsewhere. It’s not sustainable as an average consumer to rent every piece of software we use in perpetuity..Version: 15.0.1

Too bad is subscription basedWhen I saw the visual studio support I thought: "Wow, this is just amazing!" but when I saw the 20USD a year... that kills a lot of the purpose of using this. So, will have to think about it before using this instead of iSH (which is free).Version: 16.0.1

Another Rundle nonsenseGood grief, if you have the old version do not download this nas it’s a Nagware Rundle. Absolute garbage.Version: 15.0.7

"FREE" upgrade is a subscription scamGood god, this is the first review I have written. Offered an in-app free upgrade from (paid) 14.1 version, which had a long note from creators saying how grateful they were for support etc. etc. Took the upgrade, and it's an out-and-out SCAM. Every few minutes - I am not joking - the app pauses and you have to shake the ipad to resume. Of course, you can pay for a subscription to remove the nag. This is not a free upgrade in any shape or form, and I will be pursuing this further..Version: 15.0.9

Personal opinionThe nag, especially the “shake your device to fill the bar faster” bit is a bit too much. I blame Apple for encouraging this sort of thing by offering NO OTHER WAY for a dev to monetize or be ranked enough to be seen. The App Store is a hot mess and it’s hard to find good, functional apps. The signal to noise ratio is terrible..Version: 16.0.4

Another app bitten by subscription bug..Well loved Blink for what it was, now it too has been bitten by the subscription bug. Disappointing. Won’t recommend it any longer. 😭.Version: 16.1.6

No, just no.A pop up ad in a TERMINAL? No. Just no. Bye..Version: 16.1.1
