Blink Shell, Build & Code for Positive User Reviews

AmazingI am not sure who the geniuses were who created this, but hats off for sure. Beautiful, I can now use my iPad in the fashion I intended. Great work all, really! Thank you..Version: 15.0.9

The Terminal Emulator We All DeserveThank you for building this. It’s perfect!.Version: 15.0.9

B eyond L ogistical I nterfaces ; N ative K ingOf iOS terminals. I have downloaded all the free terminals and they are… terminal; sure to die soon from lack of developer support or functionality. Blink has been on my devices for 2 years now and the updates always seem to be too good to be true -Me-“ya right there’s no way that they…oh wow that works…” -stoked to be “grandfathered” after just 2 years and lifetime support and updates… had to support further development. Mahalo Nui Loa!.Version: 15.0.6

The last word in terminal apps for iOSBlink shell is the last word in terminal apps for iOS in my opinion. I have been absolutely blown away how natural it feels to use as a Unix user. And now with the inclusion of VS Code? I mean come on! This thing is sick!.Version: 15.0.7

Out of the Box AwesomeI recently setup a Linux box on my network to work as a server. My ultimate goal is to use this mostly from the terminal. I’ve been setting up connecting to the shell from different devices, and started looking at SSH capable clients. Blink was and option, and there were others, too. No real surprise. After going through some online reviews and doing some reading, I went with Blink. At first I was confused by the basic terminal Blink presented, but then I started typing and got it. Within seconds I was able to connect to my target device, and understand the interface Blink provides. Well done..Version: 16.0.1

Key repeat is amazingSo sad that apple still has not fixed the key repeat bug but this app has implemented it as a workaround and is honestly game changing. a-zA-Z0-9 keys do not repeat on iPad external keyboards (including Apple ones) but this app implemented it!.Version: 15.0.7

Blink silently moves to RevenueCatI’ve truly enjoyed using Blink, and while I understand using something like RevenueCat, I don’t want yet another middleman between me and the developer with “non-identifiable” information that always eventually turns out to identify end-users. As per their privacy policy, RevenueCat also tracks end user device information, such as the “last seen time that the end user used [the] app”, “additional attribution or metadata associated with an end user.” And while this does not affect Blink directly, RevenueCat isn’t shy about embedding Facebook event code on their front page. I understand Apple has made subscription/purchases very difficult for developers, and small teams can get crushed under that, but I can’t get behind RevenueCat, unfortunately. Again, thanks for a great app. Fortunately there is a little competition in this space and I can chose another app (once version 14 is no longer viable), but I will definitely reinstall it in the future once Apple gives you better tools to manage this stuff without having to rely on a dubious third-party. Still rating it highly because the app itself is truly so good..Version: 15.0.1

Great VS Code Editor & connection with home serverI have really enjoyed ssh'ing into my home server and coding with VS Code using Blink over the last month! Setting up a ssh host is super easy by just typing a `config` command and adding some Tailscale (or similar service) details. Connecting into the Files App works flawlessly, especially the VS code context menu shortcut Blink creates. Then the VS code experience is full screen, fast, almost all shortcuts work on iPad or even iPhone, to the point where I feel I don't need a mouse, a few occasional taps on-screen is enough to code. Although I have found several extensions & markdown preview support patchy, and although the default VS code resolution is good, scaling doesn't work. The layout of the onscreen keyboard is great as well!.Version: 15.0.7

An excellent appI paid for the class subscription! Do I need to say anymore?.Version: 15.0.7

Blink has changed my workflowI started using Blink when I replaced my Macbook with an iPad Pro. Two+ years in and I'm convinced this is one of the better decisions I've made, primarily thanks to this great app. I can do everything I need to do with Blink and a remote server. The devs are responsive, the app is continually updated with new features, and the community is great. If you live in the terminal, or want to, you owe it to yourself to try this app. It's the only app I use for hours every single day..Version: 15.0.5

The best app for devI really love this app, this is the best and I use it every day for development. It is just really easy to use and makes programming projects on iPad a much better experience.Version: 16.0.4

Superb toolGreat shell and connection manager for remote servers.Version: 15.0.7

Immediate loveI’m not one to write reviews but this just blew me out of the water. Perfectly simple and yet remarkably complex. It presents itself as a simple shell (which it is), opening to a lone “blink>” prompt with no clear way to interact with it, but the configuration screen is just a ‘config’ away. It kind of reminds me a bit of ConnectBot if it ran through a Termux interface (Android concert here) and that is high praise in my mind. I rifled through hordes of other apps that had nothing but problems. Most of them were doing too much, charging too much, and not being open source at all. Bah. That said there is but one thing I am not a fan of: VS Code. Don’t get me wrong: no choice for code editor is going to make everyone happy (I’m one of the few that would be content with plain old vi). That is the point though: perhaps integration with external editors would make more sense. It’s nit picky, though. That degree of integration is nice, having a full fledged editor is fantastic, and being able to work offline is a major bonus. Keep up the fantastic work!.Version: 16.0.2

Great app, great migrationBlink is rock solid. It's by far the best remote shell app I've tried. The team also handled migration to a new app really well. Moving my data from one app to the other was just a couple buttons, and they didn't charge me anything to keep using premium features. All in all, 10/10 experience! Bonus points for external monitor support, the feature I never thought I would use but I end up using constantly! I screen mirror my iPad's screen to my Mac monitor, then use Blink + tmux to get a couple terminal panes on the big screen. It's way better than I expected..Version: 15.0.7

Upgrade from Blink 14 is perfectThank you for having the Blink Classic Plan. Shows you care about your users..Version: 15.0.7

Best shell on iOSIt just works. Does everything I need it to do and keeps out of the way. I never have to think about the app while working on my servers. The Files.app integration is icing on the cake!.Version: 16.0.4

As robust as it is revolutionary for iPad Pro workflowsSingle-handedly brings the power of the iPad Pro to Software/Cloud engineering workflows unlocking both the future of portable operations/development and thinclient-style remote access. Not to be stated lightly: better than iTerm2. 5-stars from an SRE going on 2 years using the iPad Pro both as my primary workstation and access terminal..Version: 15.0.7

Subscription and no longer open source?Blink 14 user here, got all old features for free. Code is not there, assume it’s in the Plus plan. But why subscription for a shell app though? And the new Blink shell seems no longer Open Source. Edit: dev responded. It’s still OSS and Code is available for free..Version: 15.0.3

Blink could become my fav iOS ShellI’ve tried a few and will continue to use them but Blink has functionality above and beyond other iOS shells.Version: 16.0.2

A feature filled appMy go to terminal app. Throw in mosh and you won me over..Version: 16.0.2

Perfect for quick accessNow I can take my ipad with me and access our businesses infrastructure instead of catering around a laptop. Thanks Blink!!.Version: 15.0.7

Excellent remote shell clientMy favourite mosh and ssh client for the iPhone and I’ve tried quite a few..Version: 15.0.10

Awesome Shell🐌I just want to say thanks..Version: 15.0.6

My most used iOS appI've tried most of the other iOS terminal emulators and Blink hits the sweet spot of having both good functionality and extensibility. I like that it supports custom colour schemes and fonts and integrates nicely with Shortcuts via X-Callback-URL..Version: 16.0.4

Best Mosh/SSH ClientExcellent user experience. Very fast and easy to use..Version: 16.1.3

Unreasonably goodI've been using blink for years - originally out of necessity as it was the only mosh client I could find for iOS. It's so much more than that these days - the full-screen second screen is witchcraft - the integrated web-flavoured vs-code is magic..Version: 16.0.2

Pretty darn goodIntegration with vscode is impressive. Is it truly sync proof? What happens when I go to the beach and work on code. Does it sync back to my remote server?.Version: 15.0.7

IndispensableI’m shocked by the snappiness of this app and very feature packed. Totally recommended.Version: 15.0.6

Great app keeps getting betterI’ve been using Blink for a few years now on two different iPads. The price is well worth it for many reasons. Top reasons are things like turning on geo tracking to keep your ssh sessions active where you can’t use mosh, great ssh key management, and super-fast rendering of the terminals. There are others, but this is a good start. The v15 update is really great. Adding in VSCode integration is wicked cool, and works really well. To top it all off, the support from the developer is top-notch. I had an issue, submitted a github issue, and had a response within minutes (it was user error…). And just scouring the GitHub issue tracker, and seeing the activity from the development crew, is very reassuring. Bottom line: I’ve tried a few different terminal apps with decent success. Once I purchased Blink, I uninstalled the other ones. It does everything I want, does it well, and probably does more than I use. Great app, great support..Version: 15.0.1

Best terminal emulation out there for iOS.And the devs keep making it better and better.Version: 16.0.0

Amazing appI use Blink every day. The developers are extremely responsive and have fixed many issues so that Blink works great with Stage Manager on an external display. Blink allows me to be productive on the iPad, a device that increasingly misses the mark on functionality for pro users while simultaneously being more complicated for average users. While I don't personally have the need for Blink Build, nor do I use Blink Code, I'm happy to support a team that makes such a great app. If you are frustrated by the pricing changes I encourage you to pause a moment and reflect on how to encourage great apps like this to be created and maintained outside of a few large corporations. Consider supporting iPad app sustainability for small teams..Version: 16.1.6

Excellent ssh tool with great featuresGreat free tool, can be used for simple ssh access to server/device or use the more enhanced features to use your iPad as a terminal for access or program development..Version: 15.0.7

Hands down the best SSH clientIf you need a SSH client, this is hands down the best option on iOS. The interface is superclean, it’s pack-full of features, it’s in constante development. Do yourself a favour and just buy it..Version: 16.0.4

Better than I ever thought a mobile SSH client could beBeen using UNIX CLI and SSH for more than 25 years, and this is the best client and toolset combo I’ve ever seen, on ANY platform. I was a long-time fan of Prompt (big love for Panic), but blink is the client I didn’t know I needed until I tried it out. Absolutely peerless..Version: 16.0.4

Turns my iPad into a fully usable shellThis really helps me get work done on my iPad. Being new to iOS/iPad OS, I was looking for a decent SSH app. Blink fits this perfectly, but turned out to be so much more. The terminal first approach, the management of hosts and keys, the file acces integrated with Files, … it is just so much better than I expected. I did not yet get to use the VS Code integration, but from a first view it also looks very promising..Version: 15.0.10

This app knocks it out of the park!I don’t have much to say, other than this app is the best. I’ve used it for years and it’s always a great experience. With the new VS Code integration, I’m able to write code on my iPad with a lot more ease. I can’t thank the devs enough. You guys are awesome :).Version: 15.0.7

Perfect and SimpleA perfect app for those looking for a simple tool to SSH or Mosh into servers. And even more useful with the built in additional commands that can help with troubleshooting and gathering information (ping, Whois, etc). I haven’t yet had a chance to play to much with the VSCode functionality, but that looks equally impressive..Version: 15.0.7

Essential iPad tool!I’ve tried a load of terminal style apps for the iPad, and they all mostly work with various issues and limitations. This one, however totally works! Super well though out and easy to use. If you have to ssh into anything on your iPad this is the app you want..Version: 16.0.2

Best SSH app by far, maybe best iOS app overallI’ve been using this on a daily basis for the last 5 years. It is by far the best SSH client on iOS, and one of the very best iOS apps overall. They continuously push features that go beyond what I thought was even possible on iOS. Rock solid! (and more than worth the price).Version: 15.0.1

Simple and reliableMakes my iPad so much more useful. Means that I can be productive where ever and when ever..Version: 15.0.7

Best Shell in iOSThis is the best shell of all shells available in iOS. Worth paying $20/year to support this shell. I’ve used this shell every single day for the last year..Version: 16.0.1

IOS bug: swipe-up drags app upThe swipe up gesture is supposed to bring up commands in a shell’s history or scroll through the results of a less. When Blink gets launched, however, a swipe-up often works on the app’s window instead, dragging the entire app upwards..Version: 16.1.3

Marvellous!!!Thank you very much for developing this ssh client..Version: 16.0.4

Nothing betterTitle says it all. if you’re planning on using an ipad/iphone to remote in somewhere, can’t beat this.Version: 15.0.1
